Bears symbolize strong energies, courage and potency. Secret Shui says you can prevent your home from being broken into or robbed by keeping a representation of a bear in your ‘Helpful People’ area. Feng Shui Tip for October 4th: Improve Your Office Day

My marching orders are clear-cut on this ‘Improve Your Office Day.’ And I’m assuming that you already have all the gold standard Feng Shui at play in your office. A statue or image of an eagle flying into the office bringing bundles of cash and opportunity is office Feng Shui 101. Equally powerful is putting a symbol of water (or the real deal) in the ‘Career’ arena and something associated with fire (a lamp or light) in your ‘Fame’ area. Then there’s the ‘secret’ Shui that will give you a big jump up the ladder of success. When energizing an office you should strive to activate the auspicious good fortunes symbolized by the sacred dragon. You can invite incredible dragon magic by placing nine dragons on the east wall of your office, whether at your business or at home. Dragons with a symbolic pearl represent success, power and material gain. If you cannot find nine dragons together in an image you can use two dragons chasing the pearl. Be sure to download images of the ‘five clawed imperial dragon,’ as this is said to be the dragon of emperors. Most importantly, don’t enclose your dragon, as they need to fly free. This dragon will breathe real fire into your office and your career!

Feng Shui Tip for October 3 – ‘Balloons Around the World Day’

I’m not just being a blowhard on today’s ‘Balloons Around the World Day.’ But I want to share a ‘secret’ Feng Shui love cure that uses balloons to make dreams come true. If you’re looking for love or to further an ongoing commitment, then fill a yellow balloon with helium on any night of the full moon. Tie the balloon with nine or 18 inches of red thread, and with a red marker write your love-related wish on the outside of the balloon. One wish and on one side of the balloon only. With the same red marker sign your name and write the date on the opposite side. At sunset release that balloon to the sky and to the ‘God of Marriage Who Lives in the Moon.’ The legend states that this god will then hear your plea and send you solutions to your prayers within a year. Whether or not this balloon travels around the world, it will really rock yours, especially if that rock is worn on the third finger of the left hand!

Today’s Feng Shui for October 2 – ‘World Farm Animal Day’

You might think that pairing ‘World Farm Animal Day’ and Feng Shui might be difficult, but the two actually have a lot in common. Feng Shui started in China with farmers who found that the location of their farms often determined how they survive. Their animals also held special significance in the unfolding of this philosophy. For example, a pig is said to symbolize abundance, safety, fertility and success. During less urbanized days the intelligent pig was even considered to be man’s real best friend. Horses are said to symbolize fame while the cow and its milk producing abilities represented descendant’s luck and good fortune to those who fed it. In fact, cows were believed to be able to grant wishes and help one achieve their goals. Therefore, Feng Shui says to place an image of the pig in your ‘Wealth’ arena to increase your abundance. Or put a symbol or statue of a horse in the ‘Fame’ area to grow your recognition and rewards. Place a representation of a magical cow on or around your desk in order to turn wishes into reality. Gives new meaning to ‘Old MacDonald,’ doesn’t it?

Feng Shui Tip for September 28 – ‘Neighbors’

‘Good fences make good neighbors’ but I say that using Feng Shui can make you an even better neighbor. But what if no matter how peaceful your home is, you still have to deal with that nasty next-door neighbor? Feng Shui says that if you live in an apartment and the problem comes from a neighbor living directly across from you, you could place one small mirror on your front door to reflect the neighbor’s negative energy right back to them. If the neighbor to your right is posing a problem, hanging a six-rod hollow wind chime on the right side of the outside of your front door will lift neighborly negativity away. If the nuisance neighbor lives on your left, position an image of a dragon or a healthy green plant on that same side. All of these cures are also applicable if you live in a house with negative neighbors. Home dwellers have the bonus of being able to use light cures to negate neighborly darkness. Light is considered an especially effective cure when attempting to stop nocturnal annoyances. Position a motion-detecting spotlight on the side of the house where the irritation comes from and shine some sense into those people. And then there’s the granddaddy of all Feng Shui bad neighbor cures. Place a large mouthed basin or half barrel of water between you and your neighbor. This water will absorb negative energies and soften relations between the two of you. Hey, stranger things have happened when using this cure. Like I said, good fences might make good neighbors, but Feng Shui helps make the bad ones go away.

Today is ‘World Tourism Day,’ a time to learn to travel with ease while also keeping the home fires stoked. Before leaving home be sure to tie nine or 18 inches of red thread, string, yarn or ribbon on the handles of every piece of luggage. This is a kind of cosmic crutch that makes sure that your bags get to your destination. And don’t forget to download an image of the Mystic Knot. This is a mystical travel companion that keeps your energies and your trip running smoothly. If you encounter challenges in your travels, simply take out this symbol, run the hand you write with over it three times in a clockwise direction and then unravel any unexpected issues. Placing a small statue or crystal figurine of a bear in the ‘Helpful People’ area of your home while you’re away will ensure that all flows like honey on the home front while you’re away. In Feng Shui the bear symbolizes masculine energies, so he is tasked with protecting your space with strength and courage. He is also regarded as a potent charm against any break-ins or potential robbery while you’re out of town. As a bonus, keeping an image of a bear in this space is also believed to strengthen good health for the male head of household, especially if he travels a lot. Lastly, don’t forget to put some salt out in the space you will be sleeping in when you are away. Placing some salt in an open container inside your room will absorb negative vibes left behind by the previous tenant. No one appreciates an empowering elephant more than me, and so I dedicate today’s ‘Elephant Appreciation Day’ to each of you who brings an elephant into your living space! Elephants are considered a precious animal in Feng Shui, symbolizing fertility, strength, sagacity and wealth. When an elephant is present in the home, either through an image, statue or some other symbol, that home is blessed with ‘descendant’s luck.’ Eastern traditions tell that the elephant is one of the four animals of power and energy, along with the tiger, leopard and lion. The elephant is also one of the seven precious treasures in Buddhism. In China, the white elephant is the national emblem, while Hindu mythology shares that the entire world is supported on the back of one that stands on a tortoise. The Hindu Lord Ganesh, the deity who can help remove all challenges from our lives, actually manifests in the form of an elephant god. In Feng Shui and Mahayana Buddhism, the elephant is said to be the bearer of the ‘wish granting gem’ and we can put that info to good use right now. If you’re wishing for employment, place a statue of an elephant with a crystal on its back immediately inside the front door, facing into the space. Place a coin on the back of the elephant if your wish is for fortunes and wealth. If you’re wishing for a child, situate the elephant statue at the base of your bedroom door and place a stone on its back. Whatever your wish, this elephant really rocks!

Daily Feng Shui Tip for September 19 – ‘National Women Road Warrior Day!’

Ladies, put your pedal to the mettle since it’s ‘National Women Road Warrior Day!’ But before you get behind this battle or your steering wheel be sure to follow a few tried and true Feng Shui rules for owning the road. First is to be sure that the car is clear of clutter. Another Feng Shui car cure is to hang a round and faceted clear quartz crystal with red thread from the rearview mirror. If you find this crystal distracting, keep one in the center well of the car or in the glove box. Speaking of that, Feng Shui says to keep six faux peacocks in that same space to guarantee that you not only enjoy the journey but also arrive at your destination. Lastly, a blend of ten drops each of lemon essential and peppermint oil can keep any warrior awake and alert. Okay, ladies, today’s your day. Start your engines! But not first without following a few of these Car Shui rules!

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Sept. 16 – ‘Collect Rocks Day’

On this ‘Collect Rocks Day’ I think about the symbolic golden mountain of rocks outside my front door that invites good luck and fabulous fortunes, especially where employment opportunities are concerned. According to Feng Shui, this ‘Mountain of Gold’ has several powerful variations that all entail using a small pile of golden rocks to activate energies of supreme success. All you need are some medium sized rocks, or even small boulders if your space can accommodate a ‘larger’ version of this cure. Paint the rocks a golden color and position them immediately outside the front entrance to your living space, arranging them in a mound — a symbolic ‘mountain’ of sorts. The promise is that career opportunities will come calling as troublesome work challenges or business obstacles fade away. Improvements in your life that should make it a happier and healthier place are also promised by this simple collection of rocks. You can look for the silver lining but you actively invite it with these golden and supportive rocks!

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Sept. 11 – ‘Make Your Bed Day’

It’s time to get up and celebrate ‘Make Your Bed Day’ as today you will learn how to make your bed work for you! Feng Shui espouses many ways of how the favorable positioning of your bed can have a big positive influence. For example, the ‘Command Position’ is the most powerful of all bed positions in that it allows fortune to find you while you sleep. In this position the bed should sit as far from the bedroom door as possible. It should face the door but not in a way where your feet are directly across from it. The theory here is that the farther your bed is from the room’s entry door, the more control you will have over your sleeping space and your entire life. You won’t be surprised or startled easily and you’ll have time to react to events as they unfold. Speaking of unfolding, Feng Shui also maintains that sheets, blankets, quilts and comforters should always be clean and in good condition. And the bed should be made every day in order to establish order in the bedroom that will spill over into your life. Now for the secret ‘Bed Shui!’ Keep a smooth and rounded crystal ball at the foot of the bed on the side that you don’t sleep on in order to keep smooth and harmonious relationships all around you. All of these cures make for some really sweet dreams!

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Sept. 9 – ‘The Number Nine’

Today is the ninth day of the ninth month, and that means wish-fulfilling magic is in the air! In Feng Shui, the number nine represents happy and prosperous conclusions that can bring completion to certain cycles of your life. This happens before you embark on a brand new path represented by the number one. The reason that this number nine holds the highest mantle is that it is the last of the single digit numbers before the double digits. Consequently, on something called the Feng Shui ‘Magic Square’ (or Lo Shui) the number nine is always associated with transformation, recognition and rewards. But mystery surrounds this number too. The ancients buried their dead only on the ninth day. The Romans held a feast honoring their dead every ninth year and it was at the ninth hour that Jesus was said to have died. In Hebrew teachings it is said that God has descended to earth nine times. There are nine planets in the solar system and the number that symbolizes all of mankind itself is nine! It is also the number of force and energy and its purest form denotes ambition and domination over all. On this day try to do one or all three of these next exercises in order to gain the most magic you can from the mystical energies swirling all around: Knock on your front door nine times, visualizing opportunities and advantages coming through that same space. Put nine yellow roses in the center of your home and then light nine red candles in the ‘Fame’ area of your main floor in order to attract fortune and luck. Any one of these adjustments will put you in touch with the miracles surrounding this number, but enacting all three will put you in position of strength, power and fulfillment. Daily Feng Shui Tip for Sept. 7 – ‘Google Commemoration Day’

On ‘Google Commemoration Day’ let’s use that search engine to find and download one of the Feng Shui ‘Five Red Bats.’ This image will look like a circle with some red squiggly symbols inside of it and five red bats flying around the outside. Chinese legend has long held that when positioned properly in your living area any image of five red bats will attract the ‘Five Blessings of Feng Shui’ of wealth, health, longevity, love of virtue and a natural death. This symbol additionally represents being blessed with effortless prosperity, happiness, good fortune and a peaceful life with few problems. Or you can position those bats in your ‘Fame’ or ‘Future’ arena. A super secret Feng Shui cure says that to position this symbol so that the bats appear to be flying out of an empty vase or jar will activate the highest energies of fortune and luck found in this entire philosophy.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for Sept. 6 is 64: Nearing Completion

64: Nearing Completion

General Meaning: The situation is incomplete, but the chaos of the past is slowly giving way to order, and the goal is in sight. Nevertheless, you are still treading on thin ice — the way ahead is unobstructed, the goal is clear, but a cautious and careful attitude is essential, lest you slip and fall.

Nearing Completion is the last hexagram of the I Ching. It suggests that the ever-spinning wheel of life never reaches an absolute conclusion. Just as a hidden sadness resides in the heart of true euphoria, just as the seeds of great achievement often sprout first in a cauldron of adversity, so too no end is ever really complete without a new beginning stirring inside it. Though we divide life into categories in order to understand and master it, experience itself is seamless. With this reading, the 64-spoked, timeless wheel of change is ready to spin onward, ever evolving, ever staying the same.

A situation that is represented by this reading can be compared to that of taking a lengthy trek over a high mountain. At some point before reaching the peak, you can see in detail exactly how much farther you must travel. You will have a good idea what it will take to reach the top, because of the climbing experience you’ve accumulated thus far. However, when you do reach the peak, which has been in sight for quite a long period of sustained effort, you will have done only that. You will have reached the top — achieving your initial goal — but you must still descend the other side. This last critical segment is what remains before completion.

You may have little information and no experience of what it’s like descending the other side of the mountain. All your attention may have been focused on the route up. Daily Feng Shui Tip for Sept. 1 – ‘Emma M. Nutt’

Today celebrates the anniversary of the day that Emma M. Nutt began her thirty-three year career as the first female telephone operator. So it’s no surprise the today’s energies circulate around using your phone to your best benefit. Enact the following cure if you’d like your phone to start ringing with fortune, luck and exciting opportunities. Place your phone’s base/charger on a round or octagonal mirror that is slightly larger than the base itself. This mirror should be sitting on a piece of red cloth that is cut to the same shape and size as the mirror. Underneath the phone, place an image of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals in a circular design (you can download that image from any internet search engine). If you want a bigger bang then you might also tie nine pieces of nine-inch long ribbons on the cord of the phone or the cord that is plugged into the electrical outlet. You’ll want to tune into today’s ‘Race Your Mouse Day’ energies if your intention is to be the ‘big cheese.’ This day probably has more to do with the little computer device than with a tiny rodent, but we can address both, starting with the computer. Feng Shui advises hanging a round and faceted clear quartz crystal from either nine, 18 or 27 inches of red string, thread or ribbon directly above your computer. This ancient technique addresses modern day technology by inviting invisible energies to keep your thoughts crystal clear and your hard drive safe and sound. If you thought that today’s mouse is of the furry variety, read on. In Eastern traditions the mouse (and rat) is always associated with intelligence, longevity, luck and money. Mice and rats are also said to bring children better grades and a brighter mentality. And letting a mouse hang around sure hasn’t hurt Disney’s bottom line. Air in Feng Shui

Feng Shui, means literally “the way of wind and water,” or symbolically, “the natural forces of the Universe.” These forces affect everything in our world. Europeans call the science of Feng Shui geomancy. Hawaiians and Native Americans practice their own form of Feng Shui, each seeking to live harmoniously with nature. The ancient Chinese believed in and lived their lives by these natural forces. One of the strongest and oldest natural forces is call “chi.”

Chi, also known as the breath of nature or as “the dragon’s celestial breath,” is everywhere and, many believe, represents the truest abstract energy in the Universe. Chi is an invisible energy that circulates everywhere but gathers in certain places, which are said to be good in Feng Shui. Chi enhances happiness, prosperity and longevity, and it is the life force inside all living things. Good relationships, a healthful lifestyle and meditation can increase levels of chi energy.

In Feng Shui, winds are sometimes thought of as bad because they scatter chi, rather than accumulate it. When selecting a place to build a home or to hold a ritual, avoid places that are windswept. This can be hard if you live on the prairie or beside the ocean, but in those cases, just try to schedule your rituals on days when the wind is calmer. If you have a home where it’s windy, you might want to perform a weekly ritual to encourage the sylphs to leave chi where they found it.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for Friday, August 24

Back when I was first learning about Feng Shui, one of my teachers was discussing the location of the ‘Fame’ sector and the symbols or images that could be positioned there to make the most of its energies. He explained how this ‘Fame’ area relates to our future and our progression through life, and how these energies influence promotions we are likely to receive on personal or professional levels. This space also relates to enlightenment, and how we are each seen inside our own communities. If this arena is in balance and appropriately activated, then anyone with that same intent will progress rapidly up the ladder of success. This ‘Fame’ area is found at the center of the middle of the back of the living space. I asked my teacher what symbol he used in that space to make ensure that he was achieving his personal and professional desires. It is with great respect that I share his response on this ‘Vesuvius Day.’ He told me that although nine red candles was the standard cure for this space (nine is the number associated with this life aspiration and red is the color of the fiery ‘Fame’ element), he himself has an image of a volcano in his own ‘Fame.’ He shared that his volcano was active had smoke and lava spilling from it. He said that the very first day he placed that image in that space he was offered a teaching position that paid three times what he was making. If you want your career or your reputation to erupt and explode, well, you know what to use right? Now, that’s hot!
