Traditionally seen as the seventh day of the week. The Latin name for this day was ‘Dies Saturni’ meaning the ‘Day of Saturn’ (Saturn being a Roman deity) which was later developed by the Anglo-Saxons to ‘Soeterdoeg’. Saturn was associated with the ancient Greek ‘Kronos’ or ‘Time’ (some refer to this deity as Father Time). Kronos was said to have attempted to devour each one of his children but was unsuccessful with ‘Neptune’ or ‘Water’, ‘Jupiter’ or ‘Air’ and ‘Pluto’ or ‘The Grave’ as it was believed that not even Time can harm these. Jupiter eventually banished Saturn from his thrown. Saturn was also known as the God of the Seed and Harvest being symbolised by a scythe. Those who practised the ancient art of alchemy believed that Saturn was linked to the metal lead, and that anyone born under this sign would be influenced by its evil nature. Alchemists referred to the ‘Tree of Diana’ also known as the ‘Philosopher’s Tree’ as ‘Saturn’s Tree’. Modern astrologers indeed still link the disposition of anyone born under the influence of Saturn as being likened to the qualities of the metal, these being gloomy, dull, sluggish, grave, phlegmatic:

‘Then rose the seed of Chaos and of Night To blot out order and extinguish light. Of dull and venal a new world to mould, And bring Saturnian days of lead and gold.’ Pope : Dunciad, IV, 13.

Saturday in India is traditionally believed to be an unlucky day as this is the day dedicated to the God of Misfortune named ‘Sani’. In Ireland (UK) it is believed that if a the visual phenomena of a rainbow appears on this day then the following week will be nothing but wet weather. In Scotland (UK) it was traditionally believed that any child born on this day would have the gift of seeing ghosts. In rural areas of the British Isles it was traditionally believed to be bad luck to change jobs on a Saturday, an old English (UK) rhyme to support this was:

‘Saturday servants never stay, Sunday servants run away.’

‘Black Saturday’ was the name given to August 4 1621. It is said that a violent storm symbolically blew-up in Scotland (UK) at the moment when Parliament was in the house discussing whether to make change of the Episcopacy laws, and force this upon the people of Scotland. According to the English historian Richard Grafton certain dates of the month were unlucky as published in the ‘Manual’ in 1565. Days throughout the year were identified and of course could have related to any day of the week. The date was the most important point to consider. The work was reputed to have some credence with support given by astronomers of the day.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Wed., November 13th

Strange forces are definitely on the prowl after the recent stations by Jupiter (November 6) and Mercury (November 10), and a Grand Triangle in water signs — composed of the Sun, Moon and Jupiter — yesterday morning. Now it is Neptune’s turn to heavily influence humanity by stopping its retrograde cycle at 3 degrees of Pisces (10:43AM) and gradually beginning to turn forward. [Neptune stays direct until June 9, 2014 when it stops again at 8 degrees of Pisces and then goes retrograde until November 15, 2014 — pausing to go forward at 5 degrees of Pisces.]  All Neptune themes — imagination, psychic sensitivity, idealism, dream and visions, film-video work, cameras and photography, the fine arts, music and dance, spiritual and mystical studies, bodies of water, but also confusion, chaos, nebulosity, illusions, fantasy, lies, fanaticism, and being hooked on drugs, alcohol and other detrimental substances — are powerful at the exact time of the Neptune station and all-day long as well. Therefore, accentuating crystal clear communication and staying on target with your plans is one way to avoid cloudy conditions that are causing widespread uncertainty across the globe.  Uranus and its potency as a catalyst in awakening higher intuition and genius can be part of today’s rescue team as the Moon unites with this alarm-clock like planetary body in fiery Aries at 4:06PM. Tune into advances on the cutting edge of science, medicine and metaphysics. Check out the latest gizmos and gadgets at high-tech stores or online resource centers.  Steer clear of temperamental individuals who may be losing their cool as the Moon parallels the red planet Mars (7:56PM). Be a warrior for creating world peace if you feel the need to fight for something that will help humanity on its evolutionary arc in the cosmos. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

November 13

Juno—The Feronia

Feronia was a Goddess of Spring flowers and woods (also associated with Flora) and, although this day was named for her, it became a day of recognition for Juno, Minerva and Jupiter. The celebration took place on the Capitoline Hill where all three were enshrined. Juno was the sister-wife of Jupiter, forming a triad with Minerva. The festival would have included an animal sacrifice and an evening torch light processional.

Your Horoscopes for Tuesday, November 12

Everything seems to be getting better now. We imagine a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow we see, and they seem to be everywhere we look. We can use the power of our positive thinking to improve our lives, but the harmonious trine from the Sun to buoyant Jupiter increases our confidence to the point of promising more than we can deliver. We are even more receptive to today’s intuitive Pisces Moon if we don’t lose sight of our obligations.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

The results of your recent efforts may bring rewards today, but probably not in the obvious ways you expect. You’re able to enjoy life more now, basking in the awareness of a job well done. But don’t allow your unrestrained optimism lead to laziness, for you could falsely believe that you deserve time to relax. However, this assumption could end up encouraging counterproductive behavior; don’t let your regular responsibilities slip just because you’re feeling good.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

Your mind can conceptualize new ideas quite easily now because you’re eager to broaden your horizons. Sometimes you’re satisfied with maintaining the status quo, but today you’re so confident that you want to step beyond your regular routine and experience life to the fullest. However, this isn’t about setting aside your basic philosophical approach to living; rather, it’s a wonderful opportunity to build on the foundation of what you already know.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Sometimes steady growth feels restraining because you want to move at your own pace, which can be faster than everyone else’s. However, the Sun’s trine to jovial Jupiter in your 2nd House of Income allows you to obtain much-needed support from your boss and your workmates as you bolt ahead of the pack. There isn’t any reason to slow down now; explore new territory without worrying about the usual resistance.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

New ideas are flowing into your imagination now, but you must be ready to receive them. You may already be in touch with a variety of alternative plans, but the Sun’s trine to philosophical Jupiter in your sign today can blast the doors of awareness open. Thankfully, the current growth spurt shouldn’t feel like hard work or cause you any stress. Opportunities to expand your thinking and widen your horizons are more fun than you might expect.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

An emotional breakthrough is possible today if you’re willing to examine your feelings from a broader perspective before the coming changes impact your relationships. Letting go of fixed ideas isn’t easy, but today’s Sun-Jupiter trine may seem like a free ticket to the destination of your choice. Nevertheless, it is up to you to use it. Take a risk or you might stay stuck in your current situation, wishing that you didn’t let the opportunity pass you by. Think big and then follow through with confidence and persistence.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Your relationships feed your creativity now, especially if you listen closely to others as they share their ideas. However, inspiration doesn’t just happen on its own. You have to put on your thinking cap and be diligent about maximizing your current cleverness potential. Once you start something, stick with it, even if your certainty lags. You are closer to success than you realize.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You may be surprised by all the wonderful support you receive at work today. Assistance arrives in funny ways, yet you could miss it if you are looking too hard in a different direction. Nevertheless, you have a great opportunity now to improve the quality of your everyday life if you can get past your own resistance to change. The choice is yours; be courageous and let your friends and associates nurture your current growth.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

The importance of having fun cannot be overstated because you’re highly creative today if you are enjoying yourself. There’s no reason to impose arbitrary limits on what you can do. Even if you don’t reach an idealistic goal now, you will still progress further along your path. Extending yourself as much as possible improves your chances of making the most of the current opportunities. Just be sure to find pleasure in whatever you do.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Your dreams are a major source of inspiration, yet you need to exercise a bit of caution today. It’s easy to get lost in your inner worlds, but your key planet Jupiter is so radiant now that you might not even realize if something is amiss. Fortunately, you have the power to direct your thoughts away from unrealistic fantasies and turn them into profound creative visualizations that can change your life for the better.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Lean on your friends and associates today by discussing your hopes and dreams with them. But don’t be overly concerned about reaching your goals just yet, for optimistic Jupiter’s trine to the Sun in your 11th House of Future suggests that immediate success is not what’s most important. Instead, use this time to explore your aspirations without necessarily having to justify every thought you share. Ultimately, you will receive the support you need if you trust the process.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Your hard work may be rewarded by a bigger paycheck or, at least, the promise of a raise. Your 2nd House of Money and your 6th House of Work are being drawn into a cooperative relationship, creating a perfect storm. Luckily, you can benefit from this cosmic blast if you don’t push your luck too far; instead, just show up with your best possible attitude and see what happens. You might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Reach a little farther today while the Moon in your sign is harmoniously aligned. The planets are surely working in your favor now; the Sun’s harmonious trine to auspicious Jupiter enables you to balance optimism and realism. This cosmic magic encourages you to choose what you want to do next. Nevertheless, you still must be willing to push past whatever stands in the way of achieving your goals. Believe in yourself and the sky is your limit.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for November 12th

You may want to emulate the early bird catching the worm this morning since a fairly long void lunar cycle is about to interfere with main activities of the afternoon and evening. There is a burst of excitement and mental-emotional stimulation coming from a flowing trine of 120-degrees from the Moon in Pisces to the Sun in Scorpio (6:25AM) followed quickly by the Moon making a similar trine to Jupiter in Cancer (6:35AM).  Like the Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune Grand Triangle that was very active yesterday — due to the stations of these three celestial bodies — now it is the Moon that is hooking up with the Sun and Jupiter creating a Grand Triangle that can offer sensitive individuals precognitive dreams and visions of future, worldly opportunities. However, the Moon-Jupiter harmonious trine at 6:35AM also starts a 17+ hour void lunar uncertainty zone that lasts until 11:40PM (when the Moon enters fiery, pioneering Aries). It is much better to complete old business on a high note during any void lunar cycle than to try initiating bold, new ventures.  What is intriguing is that just two hours after the void-of-course Moon takes effect, the Sun and Jupiter form a trine in water signs (8:40AM). This is one of the best sky patterns that can occur (as it provides a great boost for optimistic thinking and expanding your horizons across the board) and yet it always happens — due to the structure of the solar system — when Jupiter is retrograde. In this case, the Sun-Jupiter favorable aspect is also occurring during a void Moon.  You may still be able to utilize some of the Sun-Jupiter euphoric vibrations when the Moon enters Aries (11:40PM). Nevertheless, by that time and as Wednesday November 13 begins to materialize, Neptune will be getting ready for its spotlight on center stage when it makes a station at 3 degrees of Pisces (10:43AM tomorrow). [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Daily Cosmic Calendar for November 9th

Be prepared for a weekend of ups, downs, and a wild ride in general. Mars decides that working harmoniously with Saturn — via a supportive, 60-degree link to Saturn (3:58AM) — is better than being angry and contentious. This Mars-Saturn rapport can help you be more hands-on and pragmatic with key business matters. A wave of productivity follows — due to Ceres making an inspirational, 72-degree tie with Jupiter (4:32AM).  However, this positive Ceres-Jupiter aspect is somewhat neutralized by an off-kilter, 150-degree tie from Ceres to Neptune (9:13AM) — a contact that can temporarily increase nebulous thinking and behavior patterns. Fortunately, just 24 minutes later at 9:37AM, the Moon in Aquarius makes its monthly union with Juno — offering emotional empowerment in your primary partnerships. Plus, this Moon-Juno link-up favors your exploring the latest styles influencing the fashion realm.  Despite some of today’s haziness, antique hunters and collectible aficionados can delight in searching for overlooked treasures at estate sales and art fairs as Mercury approaches a flowing trine to Neptune (forming exactly at 1:36PM). This Mercury-Neptune rapport can boost your psychic abilities and creative imagination. Pallas entering Virgo (4:18PM) places a renewed focus on problem-solving via fine-tuned analysis, meticulous study and extensive research.  The arrival of the First Quarter Sun-Moon Phase (9:58PM and activating 18 degrees of Scorpio and Aquarius) is a signal to cut through apparent obstacles blocking your path. Strive to manage your business affairs with greater finesse. Adding an extra note of uncertainty to the late-evening environment is that this First Quarter Sun-Moon Phase also begins a 20+ hour void-of-course lunar cycle that lasts until 6:37PM tomorrow.  Mercury is about to turn direct tomorrow and will do so at 1:15PM on Sunday during the void lunar twilight zone. Why the universe puts humanity into these strange circumstances beyond anyone’s personal control remains unknown. Hang in there overnight and keep hope alive. Jupiter Retrograde (November 7th)

Jupiter Retrograde

Seek inner wisdom as giant Jupiter spins back

Tarotcom Staff Tarotcom Staff on the topics of retrograde planets, Jupiter, cancer, astrology

Enthusiastic Jupiter, the happy-go-lucky planet of expansion and growth, slows down and turns backward in the sign of Cancer just after midnight on Nov. 7, 2013, lasting until March 6, 2014.

During this time, we may not feel as optimistic about things, and our plans to tackle big new ideas or endeavors will slow and perhaps stall. But Jupiter is a philosophical planet, so we can still use this time to contemplate our beliefs and expectations, and re-examine where we’re headed.

We all have inner wisdom if we take the time to listen to it, and Jupiter Retrograde encourages just that: Take a time out, slow down and listen to your inner voice. What is it telling you to do? It should be easier to hear now.

Do you like your job? Are you happy in your relationship? Have you been fooling yourself about something? Jupiter Retrograde asks those kinds of questions, and gives you more than three months to think about the answers before going direct.

Even while retrograde, bountiful Jupiter wants to help you figure out how to grow and change and become the best version of yourself. Use this time wisely — it’s a gift!

Daily Cosmic Calendar for November 6th

As mentioned in this Cosmic Calendar yesterday, the biggest planets in our solar system ramp up their influences on Earth today as the Sun makes its annual union with Saturn in Scorpio (4:02AM) while Jupiter makes a station at 21 degrees of Cancer and begins four months of retrograde motion at 9:04PM. However, keep in mind that a void lunar uncertainty zone started yesterday morning and will stay in effect until 1:45PM (when the Moon enters Capricorn).  Thus, this morning’s Sun-Saturn rendezvous may be extra challenging — along Saturnian lines, which (when negative) may include a temporary rise in worry, stress, doubt, frustrations and pessimism. Nevertheless, the positive components of any Sun-Saturn conjunction can include an illumination of old fears in order to eliminate them from your psyche. Adding insult to injury in the early going is a square between Venus and Ceres (9:49AM) — a frictional tie that can equate with a decrease of productivity in arts, crafts and hobbies.  Once the Moon leaves void status in Sagittarius by entering earthy Capricorn (1:45PM), the lunar orb joins forces with Venus (4:23PM) — providing a notable boost for creative-artistic expression across the board.  The Jupiter station and shift into reverse (9:04PM) puts an emphasis on all Jupiter themes — the power of positive thinking, good fortune and good luck, golden opportunities, providence and benevolence, philosophical and religious beliefs, faith and trust, Big Business, large-scale enterprises, seeing the future ahead of time, literary and educational pursuits, publishing, levity and enthusiasm, adventures in the great outdoors, long-distance journeys, but also overdoing a good thing, weight gains, pride, know-it-all attitudes, and self-centered behavior (when Jupiter turns negative).  Jupiter’s lack of motion right now makes all the themes mentioned above super-powerful — for good or ill. Think more about your higher destiny on Spaceship Earth and be thankful for your blessings. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Daily Cosmic Calendar for November 5th

Are you sensing a strong shift about to occur and don’t know what it is? You may be tuning into the annual Sun-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio that occurs on Wednesday morning as well as Jupiter’s virtual station and reversal in Cancer that happens on Wednesday night. With the two largest planets in our solar system — Jupiter and Saturn — making big news on Wednesday, many inspired members of humanity are already picking up on the potent vibrations ahead of time.  Before confronting whatever Jupiter and Saturn have to offer you — particularly on the business and professional fronts — it is wise to deal with more immediate matters as Venus enters Capricorn (12:44AM this morning). This is an unusual Venus entry into a new zodiacal sign because Venus will remain in Capricorn until March 5, 2014. Normally, Venus spends 3 to 4 weeks in a sign — not 4 months. However, Venus is poised to slow down in its forward motion in December, stopping and going into reverse on December 21, 2013 and staying retrograde until January 31, 2014. Venus in the tenth sign of the zodiac can provide some benefits for traditional approaches to making business deals provide rewards over the long haul — although expecting quick results is foolish. Energizing professional aims, as you keep climbing your personal mountain toward worldly achievements, is a key theme of Venus spending 4 months in earthy, industrious Capricorn.  Keep your mind open to flashes of genius as the Moon in Sagittarius makes a harmonious trine of 120-degrees to Uranus in Aries (3:39AM). Be more cautious and careful starting at 8:49AM when the Moon squares off with Mars — starting a nearly 29-hour void lunar uncertainty zone in Sagittarius that lasts until 1:45PM tomorrow. Stay as mellow as possible during this long lunar time-span, enjoying plenty of R and R and not trying to push your personal agenda or conduct arm-twisting maneuvers with colleagues or loved ones. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Daily Cosmic Calendar for October 23

The Sun’s entry into the fixed, power sign of Scorpio late yesterday — happening during a void lunar twilight zone and while Mars and Neptune wreak havoc within the human family — does not augur well for a trouble-free 30-day solar movement through the intense and passionate eighth sign of the zodiac. Instead, the universe is advising everyone to be more careful and conservative across the board — particularly today as Mars forms a contra-parallel to Neptune (3:37AM), continuing the large-scale uncertainty factor that has been hovering around humanity like a ghostly presence during the last five days.  Since the Moon in communication-oriented Gemini remains void until 8:37PM, this lunar condition is a reminder to focus your attention on completing old projects while refraining from launching bold, new enterprises. Keep in mind that the Mars-Neptune clash in the heavens can also produce confusion in affairs of the heart, social activities as well as business or artistic ventures.  Once the Moon enters Cancer (8:37PM), family and household concerns become a primary concern. Psychic storm warnings are still posted despite the presence of a flowing Moon-Sun trine (10:34PM) since Mars moves away from its rivalry with Neptune to make a caustic, 45-degree tie with Jupiter (10:09PM). Steer clear of temperamental individuals and controversial subject matters. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time.
