The days following a New Moon phase are auspicious. The actual day of the New Moon, the balsamic or dark Moon period, marks the beginning point when the heavens shift from dark to light. On the following days magic is in the air and the inner life is awakened.

This is a perfect time to tap into your inner wisdom with a Celtic Cross Tarot reading and prepare for a new beginning in your life. Imagine the first crack of an egg. It takes work and diligence to crack that egg open and expand toward new dimensions, but the effort is always worth it in the end.

This metaphor illustrates the potential available to each of us the day after a New Moon approaches. The following quote expresses the essence of the New Moon’s potential.

“A New Moon teaches gradualness and deliberation and how one gives birth to oneself slowly. Patience with small details makes perfect a large work, like the universe.” –Rumi

The New Moon: The Fool

“Behold, a sacred voice is calling you. All over the sky a sacred voice is calling you.” –Black Elk

Do something different for a change. Dare to be lighthearted. Change what you wear. Surprise yourself with a new attitude. Shine the light of magic and wonder in all that you do and see. Watch the birds take flight from tree to tree. Free yourself from old routines that tie you down and exhaust your immune system. Allow the vibrations of the New Moon to awaken your inner life with fresh perspectives and promptings.

Suggested flower essence: Shooting Star … discover yourself again and embody the genius of your soul!

Crescent Moon: The High Priestess

When each day is sacred, when each hour is sacred, when each instant is sacred, Earth and you, space and you, bearing and sacred through time, you’ll reach the fields of light. –Guillevic

The crescent Moon has been associated with Isis, the Egyptian Goddess known as She Who Makes Right Use of the Heart, or the Mother of Heaven. Isis’s headdress is often depicted with the horns of a cow on her head, and the solar disc between them. These horns are a symbol of the crescent Moon and are representations of immanent fertility and prosperity.

An intuitive spark of heart and mind have been lit. You now bear the torch. Be still while you listen and visualize. Take note of the seeds that have been planted within your garden of life and do everything you can to bring nutrients to the foundation of your life. Moisten and deepen your attunement to inner truth. The crescent Moon offers a force of light pushing forward within you.

Suggested flower essence: Cat’s Ear … attune to the magic of your intuition and act accordingly.

First Quarter: The Magician

“You must become the change you want to see in the world.” –Gandhi

The Magician is one who has become seasoned and attuned to the conscious aspects of life ready to manifest. The Magician leads the whimsical wandering of The Fool into a clearer stream of consciousness that can actualize miracle upon miracle. You must now understand the world of matter and turn that which has been unseen into visible creations. Be productive, active, goal-oriented and joyous in every endeavor. Nothing can remain stagnant at this stage of the Moon’s phase. The theme of creative movement is evident in the flow of life.

Suggested flower essence: Iris … the creative paintbrush of the soul. Paint your dreams into manifested joy and deliberation.

Gibbous Moon: The Wheel of Fortune

“How shall I begin my song in the blue night that is setting? In the great night my heart will go out. Toward me the light comes, rattling. In the great night sky my heart will go out.” –Medicine Woman Chant

The gibbous Moon phase can be called the womb of potential. Life is a constant process of transformation and movement involving integration, disintegration, generation and degeneration. Having recently experienced a rebirth cycle, you are now ready to embrace all that is expanding and growing in your life. Confront your opportunities and challenges in order that a permeable reality may evolve. Love new things, stretch your imagination, seek new experiences and take in an interesting movie or documentary and study. Fill your life with interests and activities.

Suggested flower essence: Mountain Pride … the great warrior of the heart moves forward, actualizing dreams and goals. Perseverance is the key.

Full Moon: The Sun and Moon

“Each night Lady Moon gathers unto herself all the discarded memories and forgotten dreams of mankind. These she stores in her silver cup till dawn. Then, at first light, all these forgotten dreams and neglected memories are returned to Earth as Moon-sap, or dew. Mingled with lacrimae lunae, ‘the tears of the Moon,’ this dew nourishes and refreshes all life on Earth. Through compassionate care of the Goddess, nothing of value is lost to man.” –from the Legend of the Moon by Sallie Nichols

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” –John Wesley

The force of the Sun and Moon are illumined and the pure potential of both lights are fully active. The chalice cup is full, life is brimming over with expectation, and the cornucopia horn of plenty has been placed at the center table of life. Wisdom shines outward. Share your gifts, talents, joys and manifested creations through teaching, writing, dancing and community sharing. This is the peak of light and you are filled with its radiant glow.

Suggested flower essence: Lotus … flower of water and air bringing the unconscious forces into conscious knowing and insight.

Disseminating Moon: The Star

“You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.” –Mary Oliver

This is the time to pour forward all that you have accumulated by networking, sharing news, offering service and find the joy to be the light of the world. You know the mystery of life and you live according to the secret wisdom found in the Full Moon phase. Share in the mystery and walk in the beauty of your true self. This is a time to reach for the stars as they become more visible with the decreasing light of the Full Moon. You may ask yourself, “How may I serve the world?”

Suggested flower essence: The Rose … deeply rooted in the Earth, the rose blossoms into the beauty of love. The rose opens the heart chakra so that we may do our very best work on Earth.

Third Quarter Moon: Judgment

“From joy I came, for joy I live, and in Thy sacred joy, I shall melt again.” –Yogananda

Look deeply now to assess all that you have become responsible for. We have countless opportunities to weigh our pros and cons in life. Seek to negate all polarities and opposition within and roll them back into the deep soil of the past. Now is the time for a renewed self-reflection and once again you are prompted to spend some quality time alone, read a good book, get a haircut, clean out closets, move things around. It will beneficial to fast for a day or eat lightly so that your body may purge and cleanse. You are preparing for another turn of the Moon … and darkness in the sky brings bright wisdom within.

Suggested flower essence: Sagebrush … cutting through all illusion and confusion, sagebrush cleanses the aura and the field of light around the heart chakra.

Balsamic Moon: The Hermit

“Yet it is in this loneliness that the deepest activities begin. It is here that you discover act without motion, labor that is profound repose, vision in obscurity and beyond all desire, a fulfillment whose limits extend to infinity.” –Thomas Merton

When the dark Moon resides within the heavens, a sweet quiet is pervasive. Meditate, contemplate, pray, chant and rest. There are many ways to experience the descent into the unconscious successfully, and the more attentive you become of this inner need, the greater balance and immune health an individual will attain. Strengthen your connection to the invisible worlds, seek the cave and find the light within.

Suggested flower essence: Queen of the Night … desert cactus flower that blooms in the night offering the inner light of the unconscious.

The Moon phases are the magical wheel that we dance upon each month. In your own birth chart you have your own progressed Moon phases that coincide with the eight phases that I have written about in this post. Each progressed Moon phase lasts approximately 2 1/2 years. You might like to find out which house your progressed Moon is passing through and what sign it is in. It’s great to understand the mapping of your own inner sky.

Ritual for Men To Receive The Moon Light

The Priest receiving the Full Moon, does not need an assistant, but may choose one if he desires. Men cannot receive the Moon in the same manner as women, nor should they visualize the Goddess merging with them. The Priest will stand, or kneel, before the altar with his head slightly bowed. Using a polished brass disk, the Moon’s light is reflected upon his forehead. At this point the Priest will visualize himself as the Full Moon itself. Once the light is received, the Priest can channel it into the bowl. Men do not “hold” Moon Light very well, and it is best to channel it off before the seven day period, which the Priestess enjoys.

Your Daily Cosmic Calendar for Thursday, April 17th

Stay on target as an ambassador of goodwill since today is the second 24-hour time-span following Tuesday’s potent Full Moon. In addition, Juno in Aries opposite Ceres in Libra (12:08AM) represents a miniature version of the Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse that are still having ramifications throughout the kingdoms gracing our struggling planet. Yesterday’s burst of euphoria and happiness — under the aegis of a grand trine in water signs, composed of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter — may come to an early end at 12:10AM this morning during the monthly Moon-Saturn union in Scorpio. The Moon conjunct the beautiful ringed planet does have the capacity to energize wise business or professional aims. Plus, it offers you the opportunity to reflect on ways to be more successful via logic, pragmatism, and tuning into your executive management skills. However, this Moon-Saturn alliance also starts a void lunar uncertainty zone that lasts until 2:45PM when upbeat, adventurous Sagittarius Moon enters the picture. The lunar alchemy every month when fixed-watery Scorpio transforms itself into mutable-fiery Sagittarius may be the most powerful Moon change in the 27.3-day lunar cycle through the zodiac. Today’s headline-grabbing celestial event is Venus trine Jupiter (6:20PM) — building a nurturing-comforting bridge between Pisces and Cancer. Love vibrations increase in frequency and golden opportunities arise for achievements in the realms of big business, literary, publishing, and educational pursuits. Let the good times roll tonight as fun, games, and athletic contests give you a notable boost. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Tuesday, April 15th

Ho-hum, just another ordinary day surviving on Spaceship Earth, correct? No way. As mentioned in this calendar during the past three days, a build-up of celestial tensions is playing itself out and human souls are caught in the crossfire between heavenly aspirations and hellish skirmishes a la Dante’s Inferno. The large-scale assault on humanity from Monday is still palpable as the Full Moon (activating 26 degrees of Aries and Libra at 12:43AM) takes place. Just four minutes later, the Full Moon morphs into a Total Lunar Eclipse — heightening this month’s solar-lunar crescendo for good or ill. In some circles, this Full Moon each year is related to Shamballa — the supposed, mythical Shangri-La of Eastern legends where the Will of God is known. However, is this actually myth or a reality that most human beings simply cannot see, imagine or intuit due to the over-materialization of our species over the millennia? Philosophy aside for the moment, this Full Moon also occurs very close to the largest asteroid Ceres as the Moon embraces this planetary body in a conjunction at 12:32AM. In your individual or group meditative work, send out your healing thoughts and prayers to humanity as well as the animal, plant, and mineral kingdoms that humanity ought to be serving and protecting. The Full Moon moment (12:43AM) also begins an 8+ hour void twilight zone that lasts until 9:21AM when the lunar orb shifts its allegiance from cardinal, airy Libra to fixed, watery Scorpio. During the void time-span, Ceres forms a supportive, 60-degree rapport with Pallas (2:07AM) — possibly enhancing your overall productivity and problem-solving skills. Later on, focus attention on improving your talents in a favorite art or craft as the Sun makes a 45-degree link to Venus (1:39PM). Accentuate peaceful communications while Mercury is locked into a dicey contra-parallel with Mars (5:22PM). [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Current Moon Phase for April 15th – Full Moon

Full Moon

(waning/100% of Full)

A veil of self-absorption is lifted and suddenly you gain access to an unbiased view of others. This is a rare moment when you can see yourself objectively and become aware of whether or not what you want in your heart is actually beginning to manifest in your life. Traditionally, the Full Moon phase stirs emotion, and this is because when you “see” what is happening, you may become upset if you’re experiencing the “same ole, same ole” — rather than the things you would like. If the Full Moon phase is a disappointment, on the next New Moon it’s time to take creative action in the direction of your dreams.

Understanding How The Moon Phases Come About

UNDERSTANDING HOW THE MOON PHASES COME ABOUT

Without the sun the moon would always be dark and inward. With her varied reflections of the sun comes balance. Balance between the quiet introspective times and the outward active times.

It is interesting to think about the fact that it does not matter where the moon is in the sky but rather where she is in relationship to the sun. Because of this people all around the world will be experiencing the same moon phase at the same time. Although half of the moon is always lit up by the sun, from our perspective here on earth the moon is ever changing.

When the sun and moon rise and set together we cannot see the moon’s face. She is traveling between us and the sun so nothing is reflected toward the earth. We think of this as the dark moon. As she waxes (increases) to a half moon she is coming up about 6 hours after the sun so only half of her reflection can be seen from our earth. But at full moon time she is traveling opposite the sun
and we see her full reflection. Then as she wanes (gets smaller) we see less and less of her reflection until we see none at all at the time of the dark or new moon.

Each day the moon rises about an hour later as it will travel its complete cycle in about 29 1/2 days. Knowing this can help us know were to look for her each day. For example one day after the full moon look for her to come up about an hour after the sun goes down.

This information on the individual phases is a repeat from what is written with each moon phase, but I thought it would be helpful to see it all together.

NEW MOON (DARK)

We consider it to be the new moon up to 3 1/2 days after the official new moon. She rises around dawn, sets around sunset.

Because she is between the sun and the earth nothing or very little is reflected and for a few days the moon is lost in the brilliance of the sun.

As the sun and moon are on the same side of the earth the pull on us is the strongest. Because the sun, moon and earth are all in a straight line this creates a time when the high tide is higher and the low tide is lower than usual.

WAXING CRESCENT MOON

The waxing crescent moon occurs 3 1/2 to 7 days after the new moon. She rises in the mid morning and sets in the evening.

The moons light is quickening. As the moon has dropped back until she is about 1/8 th of the way behind the sun and we see her lumination as a crescent shape.

FIRST QUARTER MOON (WAXING)

You will see the first quarter moon from 7 to 10 1/2 days after the new moon. She will rise around noon and set around midnight.

As the moon is at a right angle to the sun the difference between high and low tide is minimized. Because light and dark are in balance the moon will appear to be a half moon but the area of light will continue to grow each day.

WAXING GIBBOUS MOON

The waxing gibbous moon occurs between 10 1/2 and 14 days after the new moon. She rises sometime in the mid afternoon and sets in the early dark hours of the morning.

As the moon has fallen back around 3/8 of the way behind the sun one side of the moon is seen fully, the light on the other side bulges out but does not yet fill all of the moon’s face.

FULL MOON

About 15 days after the after the new moon the full moon first appears. At this point the moon is on the opposite side of the earth from the sun so she rises around sunset and sets around dawn.

The sun shines fully on her face and tides are at their extremes again. Some may sense the pull of the sun from one direction and the moon from the opposite and their energy and will feel a bit scattered.

WANING GIBBOUS MOON (DISSEMINATING)

The waning gibbous or disseminating moon appears 3 1/2 days to 7 days after the full moon. The moon will rise during the evening and set sometime mid morning.

Again we see the bulge on one side of the moon but it is now decreasing each day. Darkness is slowly moving in. Waning is underway.

LAST QUARTER MOON (WANING)

The waning last quarter moon appears between 7 and 10 1/2 days after the full moon. She rises near midnight and sets near noon.

Because of the return to a right angle between the sun and moon the variation between tides is at its low again. There is once again a balance between light and dark but the dark will soon overcome the light.

WANING CRESCENT MOON (BALSAMIC)

The Waning crescent or balsamic moon occurs between 10 1/2 days after the full moon up until the new moon. The moon rises in the dark hours of the morning and sets in the afternoon.

Again we see the moon as a beautiful crescent but it is rapidly diminishing into darkness. Preparing for another 27 1/2 day lunar cycle.

Make peace with partners during the Tax Day Full Moon

Jeff JawerJeff Jawer on the topics of moon, lunar eclipse, libra, full moon, eclipse, astrology

Get ready for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on April 15, 2014 — a stressful lunation that will add relationship pressure to the financial pressure of Tax Day in the U.S.

The pacifying Libra Moon’s opposition to the Sun in headstrong Aries opens fresh perspectives on relationships. We may have an inclination to compromise, yet this event is a Lunar Eclipse that signals the need to release unnecessary patterns of accommodation.

Recognizing our range of choices from independence to co-dependence will provide more options on where we stand with others. If conflicts arise, looking at them more objectively will reduce tendencies to blame yourself and others, leading to more harmonious solutions.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

This Full Moon lands in your 7th House of Partners, putting relationships in the spotlight. Yes, you may be expected to make compromises to satisfy someone, but don’t give up so much now that you will resent it later because this event is a Lunar Eclipse that’s more about letting go than holding on. In fact, the point is to engage in as honest and open a dialogue as possible. Just speak calmly and remain true to yourself instead of arguing or hiding your true feelings.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Changes could be coming to your workplace and your daily routines. This purifying Libra Full Moon eclipse lands in your 6th House of Employment and Habits, which could trigger an awakening, a crisis or both about your job or physical well-being. Being more accommodating in professional relationships works best with an open mind and improving your diet and exercise practices should be done with moderation.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Romance and creativity are dramatized with this lovely Libra Full Moon in your 5th House of Self-Expression. But it’s a Lunar Eclipse that can make you extra sensitive about the impression you make on others. The great gift of this lunation is having a more open mind. Clearer communication allows you to show your feelings and talents more gracefully, but fresh perspectives and brilliant ideas need to be shared diplomatically to avoid shocking others.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Finding peace on the home front and within yourself are the potential rewards of this accommodating Libra Full Moon in your 4th House of Family. However, it’s also a Lunar Eclipse that may require you to let go of unresolvable domestic issues. Facing your own internal contradictions is a price to pay, but the reward is a greater understanding of yourself and a more enriching environment for professional growth.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Conflicts may flare up with this Full Moon in your 3rd House of Communication. Yet this lunation, an eclipse in objective Libra, provides clear thinking and greater objectivity that will open your mind. Learning how to disagree in an agreeable manner can heal current relationships and make it easier to connect with and be understood by new people. Listening, as is often the case, is a key to tapping into these rewards.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

This Libra Full Moon eclipse in your 2nd House of Assets highlights money matters, self-worth issues and resources. You might be reacting to financial pressures or competition from an aggressive individual. The good news is you don’t have to dominate to win; all you need is to earn equal treatment. Slow down to think more strategically to avoid saying the first thing that comes to your mind, which could aggravate others.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

This Full Moon in your sign is a Lunar Eclipse that can change the shape of your relationships. A fresh take on partnerships may come as a surprise, but it’s better to see the bigger picture than to stumble in the dark. A change of attitude, appearance and approach work well, along with a dash of imagination to make you feel more playful. Be the creator and initiator in your relationships, rather than putting others first and adjusting your needs.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

Making peace by letting go of the past is an excellent way to tap into the benefits of this pacifying Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra. It lands in your 12th House of Spirituality to provide the perspective needed to let go of old resentments and put relationships back on track. Quiet time is invaluable, as it will inspire creative ideas and reveal solutions that take pressure off of your daily life. Nature should be especially helpful in this healing process.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

You probably don’t like to ask for the support of others, but help from friends and colleagues could do you wonders now. This normally cooperative Libra Full Moon is an eclipse that lands in your 11th House of Groups, reminding you that sharing is about receiving as well as giving. There are limits as to how far you can go on your own and some objective feedback will keep you from wasting time and provide you with some extremely useful ideas.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

Professional matters may come to a head with this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in your 10th House of Career. Changing your usual ways leadoff leading others so that you come across as less authoritarian will result from being a better listener. Cool down competitiveness, as cooperation will get you further at this time. Reach out to allies and partners who can help you advance at work if you’re feeling stifled with your current rate of progress.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

This logical Libra Full Moon in your 9th House of Travel and Higher Mind spurs travel and educational interests. Philosophical breakthroughs and new visions of your future are encouraged by this visionary transit. Yet as this is also a Lunar Eclipse, it’s wise to suspend final judgments and respect opposing points of view before pushing your beliefs on others. But if you do want to be convincing, being gracious will help you make your case.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs in your 8th House of Deep Sharing, where it can open your eyes about personal and professional relationships. Discussing your needs and getting a fresh start with others is essential in this objective and harmony-seeking sign. Romantic magic and financial windfalls don’t happen on their own, and may require more thinking than blind faith now. Making necessary compromises is appropriate — as long as you get your fair share of the pie.

MOON WATER TONIC

Tonic waters containing the energies of the moon embody very powerful healing benefits that bring about integral balance and wholeness throughout the body, mind and soul. Clear quartz crystal catalyses the absorption of lunar energies as well as amplifies the healing benefits.

Wait for a clear night, preferably on or right before the full moon. Put your crystal in a clear glass and cover with one cup of purified water. Check an almanac for the exact time of sundown on the day you have chosen.
At sundown, place the glass out of doors in a moonlit place (cover the glass with clear plastic wrap). Remove the glass at dawn. The water is now filled with lunar potency.
Drink the moon water every morning to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the stress of the day.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Tuesday, March 18th

Monday’s mixed bag of cosmic influences stays intact for another 24 hours. The early hours appear fairly rosy due to Mercury making a harmonious trine of 120-degrees to Ceres in water signs (3:51AM). The message seems fairly clear that it is smart to be eminently productive in key communications, correspondence, literary and educational pursuits. The upbeat Mercury-Ceres rapport is reinforced 8+ hours later during an emotionally-stimulating, supportive, 60-degree liaison between Venus and Uranus (12:01PM). Soar like an eagle in your favorite fine and graphic arts.  Remember that you are still in the time-frame, within 48 hours after a Full Moon, when your capacity for being an ambassador of goodwill should be growing — not diminishing. However, the Moon parallel Neptune (4:56PM) and the monthly lunar conjunction with Mars in Libra (6:08PM) can add fuel to any relationship fires already ignited or out of control. Avoid confusing interactions with associates, friends or dear ones that can quickly become overly contentious. On the other hand, striving for peace and calm with significant others is the higher approach — especially as the Moon-Mars merger at 6:08PM also begins a void lunar uncertainty zone that continues until 2:14AM tomorrow.  Make sure your residence and business environments are safe and secure as the Moon forms its monthly union with Vesta (11:59PM). Despite the presence of a void-of-course Moon lurking around, the Moon with Vesta each month offers an opportunity to hone your investment planning skills. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

The Daily OM For March 6th – Two Sides of the Same Moon

Two Sides of the Same Moon
Ritual Moon

by Madisyn Taylor

As our ancestors once did we can honor the cycles of the moon with rituals that help connect us to a more natural life.

The moon waxes and wanes in the night sky, always following the same cyclical pattern, lighting the darkness with its luminous glow. It has been this way as long as the earth has been here. The same moon grew from dark to full and back again, catching the eyes of our grandparents, our great grandparents, and those at the beginning of humanity. The moon guided our ancestors in the planting, sowing, and reaping of their crops, and we can be inspired to observe and honor these same cycles today with simple rituals that help connect us to the natural ebb and flow of life energy.

Dark moons and new moons represent polar moments of beginning and realization in the arc of the moon’s phases. When the moon is dark, we might take time to meditate on emptiness, the fertile ground in which seeds take root. A simple ritual for acknowledging this potent phase of the moon would be to write down new plans and ideas that present themselves and keep them in a moon journal. Looking back over a year of dark moons, you may be amazed to see which seeds have blossomed. Full moons symbolize completion and fulfillment, the realization of the seed, and they are times of celebration. They are a great time to gather friends and family to partake in a communal feast acknowledging the apex of another monthly cycle. Your full moon journal might track the full moons of an entire year with a recounting of the gathering—the menu, the guest list, and any other observations you feel inspired to make.

Honoring the dark and full moons with these simple rituals brings our year into a new kind of focus. As we acknowledge the flow of the moon’s cycles, we become more comfortable with the changing nature of our earthly lives, making our peace with each phase, and with the shifting from emptiness to fullness and back again. We strengthen our connection to the universe in which we live and find peace in both emptiness and fullness, each of which are natural and necessary—two sides of the same moon.

Valentine’s Day Horoscopes 2014

Valentine’s Day Horoscopes 2014

The cosmos go to emotional extremes

Jeff Jawer   Jeff Jawer on the topics of valentines day, love, horoscopes, holidays, astrology

Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday in 2014, bringing extra opportunities to celebrate the romantic mood of this holiday … which is intensified further by a Full Moon in dramatic Leo the same day! We can all expect the big gestures and extravagant emotions associated with this outgoing Fire sign. However, serious Saturn in skeptical Scorpio forms a tense square to the Full Moon, casting a shadow of doubt on our high hopes. It’s wise, perhaps, to underplay feelings to avoid unpleasant mood swings. But get more info from your sign’s horoscope to see if your heart will feel the heat of the cosmos this Valentine’s Day!

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Your heart may be pounding hard with the outgoing Leo Full Moon in your 5th House of Romance. It’s tempting to let your feelings get the better of you, but isn’t that what this day of love is all about? Well, just don’t be overly extravagant in expressing your feelings because sobering Saturn is part of the day’s story. Its hard angles to the Sun and Moon suggest that a bit of self-restraint and patience is appropriate now.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Even if your expectations are high, it’s wise to keep them within a reasonable range. Today’s Full Moon in Leo could trigger powerful feelings, especially at home, but they can swing dramatically from over-optimism to doubt and fear. Finding a middle course will allow you to enjoy the day without the stress of spending or hoping for too much. Appreciate what you have rather than counting on roses falling from the sky.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

While it would be nice to have plenty of leisure time to celebrate this day of love, taking care of business is likely to become your priority. Don’t make elaborate plans because the complications involved may not be worth the effort and expense. Enjoying the company of a caring person while attending to your usual tasks can, strangely enough, wind up being more satisfying than dinner in a 5-star restaurant.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Celebrate this special day by making a simple plan and sticking to it. While the Full Moon in extravagant Leo might tempt you to raise your romantic hopes to the highest level, there’s something about a meal in a quiet, out-of-the-way place that’s likely to arouse romantic feelings. Avoid impulsive behavior because this holiday can add heat to a slow cooking romance, while going too fast could lead to burnout.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

The Full Moon in your expressive zodiac sign should make this a dramatic day. Your emotions can run the gamut from exhilaration to despair and back again. If you enjoy a wild ride on your powerful feelings, you’re in for a good time. But if you’d like some peace and comfort, lower your expectations and plan on a relaxed and pleasant experience instead of one that aims to be remembered forever.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

A luxurious evening in a private setting could be a perfect way to celebrate this Valentine’s Day. The extravagant Leo Full Moon occurs in your private 12th House where getting away from it all is ideal. Make this a magical time when you’re free to be as bold and playful as possible. Avoid crowded and well-lit places to share a dark corner where your imagination creates a secret, out-of-this-world atmosphere.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

Celebrating this lovers’ event with a group might not sound like the most romantic idea, but it makes sense this year. That’s because today’s enthusiastic Leo Full Moon falls in your 11th House of Friends. Think of this as a time for a party rather than a private experience. Having fun with others is especially desirable because it takes some of the pressure off of spending the evening with just one person.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

This Valentine’s Day has an aura of seriousness that makes a simple event more desirable than an extravagant one. Sobering Saturn in Scorpio forms a potent 90-degree square to today’s brash Leo Full Moon, which can take the air out of a balloon that floats on high expectations. Cooking a special dinner or planning a quiet evening in a familiar setting offers the comfort that expensive gifts are less likely to provide.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

A playful Leo Full Moon adds an extra degree of romance to this special day.  This dramatic lunar event occurs in your 9th House of Travel, which makes planning a trip an ideal gift. If you can’t do that, take in a foreign movie or eat out in a beautiful ethnic restaurant. Enjoy the evening without making elaborate promises though, because serious Saturn is lurking in the wings to bring the hammer down on unrealistic expectations.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

The expectations of your partner could be extremely high with today’s bold Leo Full Moon in your 8th House of Intimacy. This could turn out to be a very romantic time, but you’ll probably need to plan it carefully to fulfill your expectations. Surprises are unlikely to prove successful, because knowing exactly what’s going to happen will provide a sense of safety and comfort needed to get the closeness you want.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

You’re usually a pretty chill and relaxed individual, but that doesn’t appear to represent your mood today. A Full Moon in dramatic Leo falls in your 7th House of Relationships to make this a highly emotional day. You or your partner might not want to do anything elaborate and would prefer a quiet evening at home. One big gesture, though, can spur romance without taking too much time or costing too much money.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Your romantic soul should soar on this special day thanks to a Full Moon in dramatic Leo. However, this event occurs in your 6th House of Work and Details, which can complicate your social plans. Take care of all the tasks that you can in advance to free up the time and energy needed to celebrate without distractions. Just don’t let a minor problem push buttons that turn it into a mess that makes it harder to have fun.
