Turquoise Protection Amulet

TURQUOISE PROTECTION AMULET

The ancients regarded turquoise as a powerful magickal aid to ward off misfortune, illness, and the evil eye. You can use turquoise to make your own amulet for protection.

To begin, during the waxing Moon take a piece of blue turquoise or an item of blue turquoise jewelry and hold it in your hand for a moment. In your mind’s eye, picture a blue light surrounding you. Hold the stone to your heart, and breathe on it to charge it with your power, saying:

“Stone of blue, surround me with protective energy.
I am protected by your soothing blue light.”

Carry your turquoise with you or wear it as often as you can.

A Spell to Cast When You Feel Threatened

A Spell to Cast When You Feel Threatened

We all go through times when we feel that we are under threat, perhaps at work when schedules are tight and tempers are about to snap. Or maybe in the home when tensions are making themselves felt, creating a chill in the air. This spell, which calls for excellent visualization skills, protects you by forming a crystal shell around you, protecting you from the bad vibrations of ill temper.

You will need:
A clear crystal of quartz or any favourite one that is full of clear light

Place the crystal on a table where it will catch the sunshine. Sit at the table and breathe in deeply through the nose. Hold the breath for a moment or two before exhaling through the mouth. Repeat this several times, absorbing the light cast by the crystal as you inhale and exhaling any negative feelings, doubts and darkness.

After a minute or two, stand and begin visualizing a ring of crystal rising around you, from your feet upwards, getting higher and higher with each breath you take.

When the crystal ring is above head height, see it close over you, forming any shape in which you feel comfortable to be enclosed – a pyramid perhaps, or maybe a dome.

Still breathing deeply, feel the crystal form a floor beneath your feet. Stretch your arms and feel your fingers touch the sides. Look upwards and see the dome or pyramid point. If you can, see yourself from outside the protective crystal in which you have surrounded yourself.

Now say:

Within this crystal,
I am safe from negative thought,
And will be so,
whenever I return to it.
And let it be done,
that it harm no one.

When you feel it is right to do so,return to normal breathing and see the crystal open to allow you to step outside it, safe in the knowledge that you can return to it whenever you need to.
Those who have used this spell find that keeping a crystal in the house, office, or wherever else they think they may need protection from negativity strengthens the spell’s potency.

A Spell for Those Who Are Lonely

A Spell for Those Who Are Lonely

Have you moved to a new location and have yet to meet the sort of people you are inclined to make friends with? Or maybe shyness is stopping you going out and making friends? This spell should help.

You will need:
A piece of scrap paper
A piece of parchment
A pen
An orange candle
An empty hurricane lamp
A bolline or burin
A jar
Salt

Take some time to write down what your personality traits are, your likes and dislikes and a few sentences that summarize your character. Now précis what you have written in as few words as possible, but retaining their essence, and write these on the parchment. The reason for keeping the words to a minimum is that now you inscribe them onto the candle.

Fill the jar one third of the way up with salt and bury the rolled up piece of parchment in it before sealing the jar and putting it in as safe a place as possible near your bed.

Before you go to bed, put the inscribed candle into the hurricane lamp and light it. Make sure that it is in a safe place, and that if you have a cat or dog, they are kept out of the bedroom as accidents can happen.

Focus on the flame seeing how much better your life will be when new friends have come into it. Say something along the lines of:

Help me, please, to make new friends,
So my loneliness will be at an end.
And let it be done, that it harm no one

As you drift off to sleep, see what you have inscribed on the candle drift out of the room, through your house and out into the world. Waken confident that your loneliness will soon be over. And now for the difficult part. Making new friends is a two-way process. You can’t just sit there and wait for the phone to ring. Make the effort. Go out, even if it’s just to sit in a coffee shop with a good book, and let the magic work for you.

A Spell to Cast When a Pet Dies

A Spell to Cast When a Pet Dies

Non-pet owners often find it hard to understand the huge sense of loss that is experienced on the death of a much-loved pet, especially a dog. They simply don’t understand that the unconditional love a pet often displays towards its owner creates a bond that, when it is broken, can never be replaced. If you have been affected by such a loss, don’t try to contain your grief: bottled-up grief grows and grows until it can become quite unbearable. This spell should help ease your sense of loss.

You will need:

Three small brown taper candles
Rosemary essential oil
Something that reminds you of your pet – a lead perhaps, or a collar

Anoint the candles with the oil before lighting them and focusing on the three flickering flames, conjuring up in your mind’s eye some of the happy memories that you have of your dead pet. Now, holding the memento in both hands, say aloud some words of thanks for the companionship and friendship it brought into your life before saying that now is the time to say a final farewell. See the candle flames grow as you say ‘Goodbye!’ Don’t snuff out the candles (that’s why they should be small).Rather, focus on the flames getting smaller and smaller, seeing your grief diminish with them.

And when they die, know that your grief has died with them.

Finish the ritual by saying:

Be at peace,
And blessed be.
And let it be done,
that it harm no one.

And remember that it is your grief that has gone, not your happy memories of your much-loved pet.

Hot Foot Spell

Hot Foot Spell

The purpose of the spell, why you do it, is to get someone off your back. The intent is not to harm someone but to make them go away and leave you alone. This is not, however, intended for petty grievances. This is a serious spell and if it backfires it can make you go away.

You Will Need:

Hot Foot Powder (available in occult supply stores)
bowl to hold powder
small jar
4 black altar candles (altar candles are short – about 3 inches long)
2 white altar candles to represent the Goddess and God
drum or other rhythm instrument (or clap your hands)

Cleanse and purify your altar area. Set up your altar for charging magickal tools. Arrange the four black candles for lighting purposes and if you want, drape the altar in black, wear black, and otherwise dress up the area.

Pour a small quantity, about a spoonful, of the Hot Foot Powder into the bowl and place it on your altar. Get comfortable in front of the altar, you’re going to be there for a little while.

Put the white candles on either side of the bowl and light them, while focusing on your grievance. Get a good rhythm going – beat that drum, shake that rattle, clap those hands, beat that floor, whatever – and make it an urgent sort of beat, the sort that makes you want to run. As you do this, chant:

You shall rise, you shall rise
You shall walk and you shall fly
Out of my life and away Onward Outward Away Be gone!
And trouble me no more I give you no power
You have no power
No power Over Me!

Keep repeating this chant and get really worked up. Feel that power and anger rising up. Keep repeating the chant until the candles have burned almost completely down, then grab that bowl full of Hot Foot Powder and send all the furious energy into it. Visualize that powder just bubbling and boiling over with your emotion. When the fury is in the powder pour the powder into the small jar and close up tightly. Be sure to ground yourself before leaving the Circle.

Now, take that charged powder and lay it in the path of your enemy. Make sure you aren’t seen doing this. Pour it into your hand, then with a strong puff of breath blow it over an area your foe walks over regularly. This spell is specific to one person, so don’t worry about it affecting other people who cross over it. Hotfoot Powder is very fine, and if you only use a spoonful it shouldn’t be visible on a floor. If it is, it will look just like dust.

A Spell to Solve Problems

A Spell to Solve Problems

Talking to yourself about your problems may sound like the first step to a date on the psychiatrist’s couch, but doing so often helps you to put things in perspective and see problems in a new light that suggests a solution.

On a suitable day of the week, decorate your altar with things appropriate to your problem. For example, if you have a problem in the office, green would be a suitable theme and Friday a good day on which to work; some birch leaves or twigs (if you are planning a new beginning), some nasturtium (if you have been struggling, no matter how hard you have been working) and a crystal of tourmaline (the magic properties of which include friendship, prosperity, business and protection) will all strengthen the magic. And don’t forget to burn a suitable essential oil in an oil burner and to lay your favourite charm, talismans and the like on the altar.

When everything is in position and you are ready to make your magic, simply say:

Powers I believe in be with me.
Powers I believe in talk to me.
Powers I believe in help me see,
The answers to my problem.
And let it be done, that it harm no one.

Now listen to the voices in your head. Answer them, aloud, in your own, everyday words. Don’t feel self-conscious. No one is going to eavesdrop. You should find that the way ahead slowly forms itself, and when the magic making is at an end, remember the words of an old Chinese proverb:

The longest journey starts with a single step.

Don’t be afraid to take it.

Banishing Grief Spell

Banishing Grief Spell

This spell is said to help one let go of painful feelings of grief. It is for those times in life when it seems impossible to feel joy again, such as after losing someone close to you.

Items Needed:
A smoky quartz gemstone, bowl of water, three tablespoons of sea salt
The Spell:
Begin by holding the stone in your power hand. See your grief in your mind’s eye. Visualize the grief moving from within yourself and through your hand to the stone. As you do this, say:
Banishing stone,
Fill yourself with my grief,
so that I may feel joy again,
So be it, blessed be!

Stirring counterclockwise, mix the sea salt into the bowl of water, then add the smoky quartz stone. Swish the stone around three times in a counterclockwise motion. Leave the stone in the water for a few minutes, then take the stone outside and safely throw it as far as you can away from yourself.

A Spell to See a Rival on Their Way

A Spell to See a Rival on Their Way

All’s fair in love and war, and as no one is actually harmed by this voodoo spell it’s included in this grimoire. Start this spell after the full moon has risen.

You will need:
A new, small glass bowl A cup of stagnant water Two teaspoons of vinegar Some ground angelica Lime juice A wooden spoon

On the night when the moon starts to wane take all the ingredients outside and mix them in the bowl with the wooden spoon. When everything is thoroughly mixed, hold your face close to the bowl and say something along the lines of:

I’m the man/girl **** wants to love. We go together hand in glove, And so I want you to know, The time has come for you to go. And let it be done, that it harm no one.

Now spit into the mixture and, unseen, make your way to your rival’s house. Pour the liquid on his or her front step, repeating the words of the incantation as you do so. Repeat the ritual seven nights in a row.

The spell has its origins in voodoo tradition and there are several reports, from Hispaniola and other areas where voodoo is respected, of two young men, bowls in hand, making their way to one another’s houses under cover of darkness!

Banishing Spell to Stop Harm

BANISHING SPELL TO STOP HARM

This will protect without causing the person bound any harm. It is not a dark spell but a very potent protective one.

You may use a different oil if you wish to use as a banishing oil.

Rosemary may be substituted for Rue.

Materials:

1 black taper or image candle (gender depends on who you are trying to bind)
nail
black cloth a large piece of black cloth
red ribbon
cotton
needle and thread
Banishing oil
loose tobacco
A small mirror that can stand by itself

If you can obtain hair or nail clippings from the person or a picture, you can use it in this spell.
Fold the felt in half and cut out a rough shape of the person you want to bind. Make the figure large enough so that you will be able to stuff it after you have sewn it together. Sew the pieces of the poppet together, leaving a hole through which you can stuff the poppet. Fill it with cotton and tobacco, and if you have the hair or nail clippings of the person, add those to it.

Once it is filled, sew the opening closed. If you have a picture of the person, staple or sew it to the front of the poppet. Carefully write the name of the person onto the black candle with the nail and add these runes: Thuraz, Isa, Ehwaz, a dark filled in circle to represent the dark moon, bars like you will see in a jail, and a widdershins (anticlockwise) spiral.

Anoint the candle and the poppet with the oil. Cast a circle, invoke the elements, God or Goddess you are working with. Light the altar candles. Light the black candle and adjust the mirror so that flame is reflected in the glass. Hold the poppet out in front of you and say:

“Creature of cloth thou art,
Creature of flesh and blood you be.
I name you (name of the person you are binding).
No more shall you do me harm.
No more shall you repeat false tales.
No more shall you interfere in my life, nor in the lives of my loved ones.
By the power of the Gods and by my will, So mote it be!”

Draw an invoking pentagram over the poppet. Now take the ribbon and begin to wrap the poppet like a mummy, leaving no space unwrapped. Say:

“I bind your feet from bringing harm to me.
I bind your hands from reaching out to harm me.
I bind your mouth from spreading false tales to harm me.
I bind your mind from sending energy to harm me.
If you do so continue, let all negative energy be cast and reflected directly at you!”

Tie off the ribbon and hold the poppet in front of the mirror while you visualize all negative
energy this person has sent to you being reflected back at them. Wrap the poppet in the black cloth and tie with another length of ribbon. Say:

“Great Mother, I have bound this person
from harming me and my loved ones.
By the powers of three times three
By Earth and Fire, Air and Sea
I fix this spell, then set it free
Twill give no harm to return to me
As I will, So mote it be!”

Let the candle burn out while the poppet sits at its base, then take the poppet and the remains of the candle far from your home and bury it deep in the ground or toss it in the ocean and walk away without looking back.

101 Essential Oil Uses – Skin & Beauty

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes. Essential oil uses range from aromatherapy, household cleaning products, personal beauty care, and natural medicine treatments.

The particles in essential oils come from distilling or extracting the different parts of plants, including the flowers, leaves, bark, roots, resin and peels. In ancient times, Jews and Egyptians made essential oils by soaking the plants in oil and then filtering the oil through a linen bag.

Essential oil benefits come from their antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. These healing oils are rapidly growing in popularity because they act as natural medicine without any side effects. Ready to harness the power of the world’s most proven therapeutic compounds? English Witchcraft Laws

High Priestess Raven Spirit Walker's avatarEnchanted Circle of Witches®

Until 1951, England had laws strictly prohibiting the practice of witchcraft. When the last act was repealed, Gerald Gardnerbegan to publish his work, and brought witchcraft back into the public eye without threat of prosecution. Put into effect on June 1, 1653, the Witchcraft Laws mandated the outlawing of any kind of witchcraft-related activities. The 1951 repeal made it easier for modern Wiccans — Gardner was able to go public just a few years later, when he published Witchcraft Today in 1954.

It’s important to note that the 1653 Witchcraft Laws were not the first to appear in the English judicial system. In 1541, King Henry VIII passed a piece of legislation that made witchcraft a felony, punishable by death. In 1562, Henry’s daughter, Queen Elizabeth I, passed a new law that said witchcraft would only be punished with death if harm had been caused – if no…

The Pendle Witches

High Priestess Raven Spirit Walker's avatarEnchanted Circle of Witches®

n 1612, a dozen people were accused of using witchcraft to murder ten of their neighbors. Two men and nine women, from the Pendle Hill area of Lancashire, eventually went to trial, and of these eleven, ten were eventually found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. Although there were certainly other witchcraft trials taking place in Englandduring the fifteenth to eighteenth century, it was rare for so many people to be accused and tried at once, and even more unusual for so many people to be sentenced to execution.

Of the five hundred or so people executed for witchcraft in England over three hundred years, ten were the Pendle witches. Although one of the accused, Elizabeth Southerns, or Demdike, had been known in the area as a witch for a long time, it’s entirely possible that the accusations which led up to formal charges and the trial…

Witch Trials in Europe and North America

High Priestess Raven Spirit Walker's avatarEnchanted Circle of Witches®

I’m a big fan of history, as many Pagans are, so this week we’re going to look at a few key incidents in “witchy history.” Let’s take a moment to look at the “burning times,” which is the name applied to the European witch hunts – and which may not have involved as many victims as once thought. We’ll also talk about the Pendle witch trials in England, and the Hartford trial that was a precursor to the hysteria of Salem in 1692.

5 Things You Might Not Know About the Salem Witch Trials
The Salem witch trials of 1692 are pretty well-known – but many people get the facts wrong. Let’s look at five things you may not know about Salem.

The 1662 Hartford Witch Trials

High Priestess Raven Spirit Walker's avatarEnchanted Circle of Witches®

Mention witchcraft in America, and people immediately think of Salem. After all, the famous (or infamous, depending on how you look at it) trial of 1692 went down in history as a perfect storm of fear, religious fanaticism, and mass hysteria. What most people don’t realize, however, is that three decades before Salem, there was another witchcraft trial in nearby Connecticut, in which four people were executed.

In Salem, twenty people were put to death – nineteen by hanging, and one pressed with heavy stones – for the crime of witchcraft. It is, by far, one of the best-known legal debacles in American history, in part because of the sheer number of people involved. Hartford, on the other hand, was a much smaller trial and tends to get overlooked. However, it’s important to talk about Hartford, because it did set a bit of a legal precedent for witchcraft trials…
