Living Shield Spell

Living Shield Spell

A shield using your element in the form of an energy leach to guard you.

Items You Will Need:

  • Knowledge of your element
  • Your third eye
  • A representation of earth, air, fire, or water.

The Spell:

First enter into chakra meditation and make sure you are properly grounded. This is a good first step for any spell. Take the representation of your element,( a stone for earth, lit candle for fire, glass of water for water, air shouldn’t need a representative since it surrounds us all), and place it in front of you, within a small circle. Enter a state of higher awareness so that you can feel the energy of the item in use. Reach out with your subtle body and pull the energy of the item out and form a large ball. Then, with your crown chakra’s energy, reach out and create a bridge, through which you will instruct your thought form. Finally, press into it your instructions. Tell it to guard you both, and offer to allow it to borrow your energy to do so. At this time, you can offer any extra instructions you desire, but remember two things; one, its a new life. It knows very little, so keep it simple. Two, it can not go far from you without dying. When you are done, it will attach itself to your subtle body. This guardian can intercept some negative magic, block access to your body by spirits, and is only visible to the third eye. Be prepared to explain the odd growth on your subtle body to other witches.

As a warning, do not attempt this with the wrong element. They will be unpredictable. In order to dismiss the guardian, you can either reform the bridge with your crown chakra and bid it farewell, or, you cannot dismiss it and gain an unruly thought form, pull the creature into you and absorb the energy.

LOOKING AT YOURSELF

LOOKING AT YOURSELF

Before you go a step further, take a good long look at your desires, motivation and skills. What role do you see yourself playing in this new group? “Ordinary” member?   Democratic facilitator? High Priestess?  And if the last — why do you want the job?

The title of High Priestess and Priestess are seductive, conjuring up exotic images of yourself in embroidered robes, a silver crescent (or horned helm) on your brow, adoring celebrants hanging on every word which drops from your lips…

Reality check. The robes will be stained with wine and candle wax soon enough, and  not every word you speak is worth remembering. A coven leader’s job is mostly hard work between rituals and behind the scene. It is not always a good place to act out your fantasies, because the lives and well-being of others are involved, and what is flattering or enjoyable to you man not be in their best
interest. So consider carefully.

If your prime motive is establishing a coven is to gain status and ego gratification, other people will quickly sense that. If they are intelligent, independent individuals, they will refuse to play Adoring Disciple to your Witch Queen impressions. They will disappear,  and  that vanishing act will be the last magick they do with you.

And if you do attract a group ready to be subservient Spear Carriers in your fantasy drama — well, do you really want to associate with that kind of personality?  What are you going to do when you want someone strong around to help you or teach you, and  next New Moon you look out upon a handful of Henry Milquetoasts and Frieda Handmaidens? If a person is willing to serve you, then
they will also become dependent on you, drain your energy, and become disillusioned if you ever let down the Infallible Witch Queen mask for even a moment.

Some other not-so-great reasons for starting a coven: a) because it seems glamorous,  exotic, and a little wicked;

b) because it will shock your mother,or

c) because you can endure your boring, flunky job more easily if you get to go home and play Witch at night.

Some better reasons for setting up a coven, and even nominating yourself as High Priest/ess, include: a) you feel that you will be performing a useful job for yourself and others; b) you have enjoyed leadership roles in the past, and proven yourself capable; or c) you look forward to learning and growing in the role.

Even with the best motives in the world, you will still need to have — or quickly develop — a whole range of skills in order to handle a leadership role. If you are to be a facilitator of a study group, group process insights and skills are important. These include:

1) Gatekeeping, or guiding discussion in such a way that everyone has an opportunity to express ideas and opinions;

2) Summarizing and clarifying;

3) Conflict resolution or helping participants understand points of disagreement and find potential solutions which respect everyone’s interests;

4) Moving the discussion toward consensus, or at any rate decision, by identifying diversions and refocusing attention on goals and priorities; and

5) Achieving closure smoothly when the essential work is completed, or an appropriate stopping place is reached.

In addition to group process skills, four other competencies necessary to the functioning of a coven are: ritual leadership, administration, teaching, and counseling.  In a study group the last one may not be considered a necessary function, and the other three may be shared among all participants. But in a coven the leaders are expected to be fairly capable in all these areas, even if responsibilities are frequently shared or delegated. Let us look briefly at each.

Ritual leadership involves much more that reading invocations by candlelight. Leaders must understand the powers they intend to manipulate: how they are raised, channeled and grounded. They must be adept at designing rituals which involve all the sensory modes. They should have a repertoire of songs and chants, dances and gestures or mudras, incense and oils, invocations and spells, visual effects and symbols, meditations and postures; and the skill to combine these in a powerful, focused pattern.  They must have clarity of purpose and firm ethics. And they must understand timing: both where a given ritual fits in the cycles of the Moon, the Wheel of the Year, and the dance of the spheres, and how to pace the ritual once started, so that energy peaks and is channeled at the perfect moment. And they must understand the Laws of Magick, and the
correspondences, and when ritual is appropriate and when it is not.

By administration, we refer to basic management practices necessary to any organization. These include apportioning work fairly, and following up on its progress; locating resources and obtaining them (information, money, supplies); fostering communications (by telephone, printed schedules, newsletters etc.); and keeping  records (minutes, accounts, Witch Book entries, or ritual logbook). Someone or several someone’s has to collect the dues if any, buy the candles, chill the wine, and so forth.

Teaching is crucial to both covens and study groups. If only one person has any formal training or experience in magick, s/he should transmit that knowledge in a way which respects the intuitions, re-emerging past life skills, and creativity of the others. If several participants have some knowledge in differing areas, they can all share the teaching role. If no one in the group has training and you are uncertain where to begin, they you may need to call on outside resources: informed and ethical priest/esses who can act as visiting faculty, or who are willing to offer guidance by telephone or correspondence. Much can be gleaned from books, or course — assuming you know which books are trustworthy and at the appropriate level — but there is no substitute for
personal instruction for some things.  Magick can be harmful if misused, and an experienced practitioner can help you avoid pitfalls as well as offering hints and techniques not found in the literature.

Counseling is a special role of the High Priest/ess. It is assumed that all members of a coven share concern for each other’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare, and are willing to help each other out in practical ways.

However, coven leaders are expected to have a special ability to help coveners explore the roots of their personal problems and choose strategies and tactics to overcome them. This is not to suggest that one must be a trained psychoanalyst; but at the least, good listening skills, clear thinking and some insight into human nature are helpful. Often, magickal skills such as guided visualization, Tarot counseling and radiasthesia (pendulum work) are valuable tools as well.

Think carefully about your skills in these areas, as you have demonstrated them in other organizations. Ask acquaintances or co-workers, who can be trusted to give you a candid opinion, how they see you in some of these roles. Meditate, and decide what you really want for yourself in organizing the new group. Will you be content with being a catalyst and contact person — simply bringing people with a common interest together, then letting the group guide its destiny from that point on?  Would you rather be a facilitator, either for the first months or permanently: a low-key discussion leader who enables the group to move forward with a minimum of misunderstanding and wasted energy? Or do you really want to be High Priestess — whatever that means to you —      and serve as the guiding spirit and acknowledged leader of a coven? And if you do want that job, exactly how much authority and work do you envision as part of it? Some coven leaders want a great deal of power and control; others simply take an extra share of responsibility for setting up the rituals (whether or not they actually conduct the rites), and act as “magickal advisor” to less experienced members. Thus the High Priest/ess can be the center around which the life of the coven revolves, or primarily an honorary title, or anything in between. That is one area which you will need to have crystal-clear in your own mind before the first meeting (of if you are flexible, at least be very clear that you are). You must also be clear as to your personal needs on other points: program emphasis, size, meeting schedule, finances, degree of secrecy, and affiliation with a tradition or network. You owe it to prospective members and to yourself to make your minimum requirements known from the outset: it can be disastrous to a group to discover that members have major disagreements on these points after you have been meeting for six months.

And Last but Definitely Not Least, The Witches Alphabet

The Witches Alphabet

The Witches Alphabet is still used by some to this date. Most witches use it to write in their Grimoires or Books of Shadows. This alphabet was invented or thought up a long time ago. It is another one of those things that you can’t find any dates on. So there is no way or knowing when it was first thought of and used. If I was to venture to guess, I would say during the Burning Times but I could be wrong. If I am and anyone knows when this alphabet was first used, please let me know.

When a witch become familiar with this alphabet she can easily write anything she want in her BOS. And just in case prying eyes comes a lookin’ they will never know what they are reading. The only other person who could read your BOS would be another witch. The symbols are there and the corresponding letters are there. Give it a try and see how easy it is to keep all your magickal  workings safe for the outside world.

SPELL TO REMEMBER YOUR PAST LIFE

SPELL TO REMEMBER YOUR PAST LIFE:

Materials Required:

One white candle
One mirror

Method:

This spell should be performed in isolation at exactly twenty minutes past one early morning. Wear white or clothes of light pastel shades. Sit in front of the mirror. Light the candle. Set it up in such a way that the light from the candle falls on your face alone and yet the reflection of the flame can be viewed in the mirror.

Focus on the flame in the mirror and slowly begin to build up your energy. Once you feel that you have reached the threshold of your energy level, look at the reflection of your eyes and say the following spell loud and clear:

Blessed be the oracle’s lunar light
May I be granted the gift of a second sight

Once you have chanted the spell twice, look closely into the mirror into your eyes. Remember not to blink. In a few minutes, your image will disappear and the image of what you were in the past life will appear. Observe the facial features, clothing etc of the image in the mirror. Don’t break eye contact because the minute you do, the image will disappear. Don’t attempt to speak either. The minute your soul feels that it has observed enough the image will go away.

This spell is tricky and may take quite a few attempts before one can master it.

The Mystery of Past Life Recall

The Mystery of Past Life Recall

By

Under hypnosis, numerous people recall the details of previous lives, even to the point of taking on the personalities of their former selves – and speaking in foreign languages!

In 1824, a nine-year-old boy named Katsugoro, the son of a Japanese farmer, told his sister that he believed he had a past life. According to his story, which is one of the earliest cases of past life recall on record, the boy vividly recalled that he had been the son of another farmer in another village and had died from the effects of smallpox in 1810. Katsugoro could remember dozens of specific events about his past life, including details about his family and the village where they lived, even though Katsugoro had never been there. He even remembered the time of his death, his burial and the time he spent before being reborn. The facts he related were subsequently verified by an investigation.

Past life recall is one of the most fascinating areas of unexplained human phenomena. As yet, science has been unable to prove or disprove its genuineness. Even many who have investigated claims of past life recall are unsure whether it is an historical recollection due to reincarnation or is a construction of information somehow received by the subconscious. Either possibility is remarkable. And like many areas of the paranormal, there is a propensity for fraud that the serious investigator must watch out for. It’s important to be skeptical about such extraordinary claims, but the stories are nonetheless intriguing.

Past life recall generally comes about spontaneously, more often with children than adults. Those who support the idea of reincarnation believe this is because children are closer to their past lives and that their minds have not been clouded or “written over” by their present lives. Adults who experience past life recall often do so as the result of some extraordinary experience, such as hypnosis, lucid dreaming or even a blow to the head.

Here are some outstanding cases:

VIRGINIA TIGHE / BRIDEY MURPHY

Perhaps the most famous case of past life recall is that of Virginia Tighe who recalled her past life as Bridey Murphy. Virginia was the wife of a Virginia businessman in Pueblo, Colorado. While under hypnosis in 1952, she told Morey Bernstein, her therapist, that over 100 years ago she was an Irish woman named Bridget Murphy who went by the nickname of Bridey. During their sessions together, Bernstein marveled at detailed conversations with Bridey, who spoke with a pronounced Irish brogue and spoke extensively of her life in 19th century Ireland. When Bernstein published his book about the case, The Search for Bridey Murphy in 1956, it became famous around the world and sparked an excited interest in the possibility of reincarnation.

Over six sessions, Virginia revealed many details about Bridey’s life, including her birth date in 1798, her childhood amid a Protestant family in the city of Cork, her marriage to Sean Brian Joseph McCarthy and even her own death at the age of 60 in 1858. As Bridey, she provided numerous specifics, such as names, dates, places, events, shops and songs – things Virginia was always surprised about when she awoke from the hypnosis. But could these details be verified? The results of many investigations were mixed. Much of what Bridey said was consistent with the time and place, and it seemed inconceivable that someone who had never been to Ireland could provide so many details with such confidence.

However, journalists could find no historical record of Bridey Murphy – not her birth, her family, her marriage, nor her death. Believers supposed that this was merely due to the poor recordkeeping of the time. But critics discovered inconsistencies in Bridey’s speech and also learned that Virginia had grown up near – and had known well – an Irish woman named Bridle Corkell, and that she was quite likely the inspiration for “Bridey Murphy.” There are flaws with this theory, too, however, keeping the case of Bridey Murphy an intriguing mystery.

MONICA / JOHN WAINWRIGHT

In 1986, a woman known by the pseudonym “Monica” underwent hypnosis by psychotherapist Dr. Garrett Oppenheim. Monica believed she discovered a previous existence as a man named John Ralph Wainwright who lived in the southwestern U.S. She knew that John grew up in Wisconsin, Arizona and had vague memories of brothers and sisters. As a young man he became a deputy sheriff and married the daughter of a bank president. According the Monica’s “memory,” John was killed in the line of duty – shot by three men he had once sent to jail – and died on July 7, 1907.

SUJITH / SAMMY

Born in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), Sujith was barely old enough to speak when he began to tell his family of a previous life as a man named Sammy. Sammy, he said, had lived eight miles to the south in the village of Gorakana. Sujith told of Sammy’s life as a railroad worker and as a dealer of a bootleg whiskey called arrack. After an argument with his wife, Maggie, Sammy stormed out of his house and got drunk, and while walking along a busy highway was struck by a truck and killed. Young Sujith often demanded to be taken to Gorakana and had an abnormal taste for cigarettes and arrack.

Sjuth’s family had never been to Gorakana and hadn’t known anyone that fit Sammy’s description, yet, being Buddhists, were believers in reincarnation and therefore not completely surprised by the boy’s story. Investigations, including one conducted by a professor of psychiatry from the University of Virginia, confirmed as many as 60 of the details of the life of Sammy Fernando who indeed had lived and died (six months before Sujith’s birth) just as Sujith had said. When Sujith was introduced to Sammy’s family, he surprised them with his familiarity with them and his knowledge of their pet names. This is one of the strongest cases of reincarnation on record.

DREAM RECALL

Hypnosis isn’t the only method by which past lives are recalled. A Britsh woman was distressed by a recurring dream in which she, as a child, and another child with whom she was playing, fell from a high gallery in their home to their deaths. She vividly remembered the black and white checked marble floor on which they died. She repeated the dream to several of her friends. Sometime later, the woman was visiting an old house that had a reputation for being haunted. With its black and white marble floor, the house immediately was recognized by the woman as the scene of the deaths in her dreams. She subsequently learned that a small brother and sister really had fallen to their deaths in the house. Was she recalling a past life, or had she somehow psychically tuned in to this dramatic history?

GRAHAM HUXTABLE / ARNALL BLOXHAM

Another fascinating case of past life regression took place in Wales where Graham Huxtable, a mild-mannered swimming instructor, was placed under hypnosis by hypnotist Arnall Bloxham. In a trance, Huxtable not just recalled a past life, he seemed to actually become a man named Ben, a boisterous gunner on an 18th century British frigate called Aggie. While inhabited by the personality of Ben, Huxtable would call out orders to the men on the ship in a heavy accent and use obscure nautical terminology. He even relived every moment of a battle in which he eventually suffered an injury to his leg.

Bloxham had difficulty bringing Huxtable out of trance, but when he did, the man complained of a pain in his leg. And when Bloxham replayed a recording of the session, Huxtable was astonished at what he heard, recalling nothing of his experience under the trance. Although experts could verify the terms and language that “Ben” used, they could not find records of a ship named Aggie nor of the ship’s captain he had named. Past life recall… or a case of multiple personality?

T.E. / JENSEN JACOBY

In 1958, a woman who in this case was identified only as T.E., underwent hypnosis by her husband, a medical doctor and experimenter with past life regression. Once in a trance state, T.E.’s voice deepened to one that was distinctly male and she declared in broken English that she was a farmer named Jensen Jacoby who lived in the 17th century. T.E.’s speech was peppered with Swedish words, a language that she and her husband swore she did not know. After six hypnotic sessions, T.E. was talking exclusively in Swedish, even conversing fluently with several Swedish persons that her husband had brought in to witness the phenomenon. These native Swedes confirmed that she was speaking a somewhat archaic form of Swedish that would have been spoken at the time Jensen said he had lived.

These are just a few of the more well-known examples of past life recall. Those who practice past life regression therapy today claim that it has certain benefits. They say it can shed light on present life personal issues and relationships and can even help to heal the wounds suffered in a past life.

Reincarnation has also been one of the central tenets of many Eastern religions, and one can return to this existence in a new physical form, whether it is human, animal or even vegetable. The form one takes, it is believed, is determined by the law of karma – that the higher or lower form one takes is due to one’s behavior in the previous life. The concept of past lives is also one of the beliefs of L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology, which states that “past lives are suppressed by the painfulness of the memory of those former existences. To restore the memory of one’s whole existence, it is necessary to bring one up to being able to confront such experiences.”

FAMOUS BELIEVERS IN PAST LIVES

  • General George S. Patton believed that he had been a soldier in many previous lives, including in the service of Alexander the Great.
  • Benjamin Franklin may have been professing his belief in reincarnation when he wrote that he would return “in a new and more elegant edition, revised and corrected by the author.”
  • Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were contemporaries and both professed believers in past lives.
  • Edgar Cayce, the American psychic, believed that he was a resident of Atlantis in one previous life.

When the candle has completely burned out, place the star anise under your pillow to gain insight in your dreams. You can also carry the star anise with you to lead you in the right direction.

As you become more proficient and the qualities of the Third Eye develop you will find that you not only develop clairvoyance but also the type of insights mentioned above.

Witch’s Magick for Monday, March 31st – Self Empowerment Spell

Fantasy Comments & Graphics

 Self-Empowerment Spell

This is a fairly simple spell, and of course you should change it according to your tastes.

Items you will need:

–1 white candle (probably the bigger the better)
–mirror

The candle should be cleansed before you begin, and could be infused with white energy, the energy of love and strength. Meditate upon your intentions before you begin. why do you need to empower yourself? Is it because you wish to realize the beauty within yourself,
or you wish others to see the beauty or strength you know that lies within you.

This spell also works best if you do a cleansing of yourself, whether it is bath or shower or just visualize all of the negativity that you are carrying with you washing away.

The candle should be placed in front of the mirror, and the mirror should face you. Light the candle. Feel the positive energy emanating from the candle. If you worship a deity, call upon them to help you. Chant:

I walk in beauty with the Goddess.
I am strength. I am beauty. I am will. I am love.
She is within me. All who see me, know Her.
So Mote It Be.

Great Goddess, Great God
Look down upon your children
And help us to live together in peace
Send us tolerance and understanding
Patience with each other
And with ourselves
Help us to play nice
And to get along despite our differences
Let us tear down the walls that keep us apart
And build bridges that will bring together.

Help us to realize
That we must learn to live as one
On our beautiful planet
Great Goddess, Great God
Let there be peace
And let it begin with me.

So Mote It Be

-red woolen thread

Sew 3 sides of the 4 sides of red cloth together with the red woolen thread.
Turn the bag outside in because it should have been inside out when you were sewing it. Put the crumb of bread, the pinch of salt, and the teaspoon of rue in it and sew it up. Say this Chant for good fortune:

“This bag I sew for luck for me, and also for my family,
That it may keep by night and day, troubles and illness far away”.

Hang the bag over your bed, your window, or keep it in your purse.

A House Blessing

A House Blessing

At dawn, rise and light some incense. Walk slowly through the quiet house and say the following words while visualizing their meaning and intent.

House of stone, metal, wood, and earth
Silent one, protective one, you of the four winds
House of health, wealth, joy and peace
Guardian, sustainer, you of earth
House of stone, metal, wood and earth
Secure one, peaceful one, you of the charm
Guarded and protected you be
Cleansed and put you be
Peaceful and loving you be
It is finished in beauty
It is finished in beauty
It is finished in beauty

Set down the incense and draw as exact a likeness of your house as you can from your imagination. Draw it from all angles; from above, from the front, from behind. If you live in an apartment, draw the building as well.

When finished, go outside and check your drawing. Is as accurate as you can make it? If not, draw a new one or make changes until the drawing satisfies you. No great skill is required, you need only make a recognizable likeness of your home.

When finished, take a white candle and a sharp knife. Cut seven evenly spaced notches in the candle so that you create a knobbed candle. Now set the drawing down on a table where it can remain for seven days. Set the candle on top of it and light it while visualizing your home as blessed, safe and loving.

Let the candle burn down one notch the first day as you go about your early morning business, then pinch or snuff out the flame and leave it until the next day. The next morning, repeat the ritual – from lighting the incense and saying the blessing chant to burning one candle notch.

On the seventh day, after the candle has burned down all the way, fold the drawing into a tight package and secure it with red or white cord. Place it in a wooden box with salt and dried roses and tie the box shut with another white cord. Finally, place the box in the home where it won’t be seen or found.

A Warding for Your Home

A Warding for Your Home

The following is an easy warding ritual for your home or just one room.

You must admit that there are those who would use magic in unwise ways. A simple way I’ve found of dealing with such attempts is to ward a room you work in, or your home. It is similar to casting a circle except that it is as permanent as you want it to be. Be sure that you won’t be disturbed while casting the ward or you will have to start over. Nothing is required to do this but you may use any props necessary to make you most comfortable.

After ensuring you won’t be disturbed, ground and center (use any form you wish, this is a very adaptable ritual). Cast your circle, using the walls as the four Quarters (again use whatever method you are most comfortable with).

After the circle is cast you will do something similar to circle casting.
Invoke the Quarters again this time asking for protection of the area being warded against all negative influences from being able to ever enter the area involved. As you invoke each Quarter visualize a wall of energy completely covering the wall involved sealed by a floor to ceiling pentacle. On the wall/s with a door visualize a smaller version of the energy wall and pentacle so that entering and leaving will not affect the integrity of the working.

After each wall, the floor, and the ceiling are sealed be sure to cleanse the area to ensure that no negativity was trapped inside the room (any method is acceptable).

When done thank the Quarters for their help and dismiss them.
