The Witches Magick for Monday, November 9th – Divining Love

Celtic

Divining Love

This spell utilizes the ancient art of dowsing to answer your questions regarding love.

You will need two seventeen-inch lengths of wire and two five-inch hollow tubes. Copper wire works best with copper tubing as the holders. If nothing else, you can use metal coat hangers and straws.

Bend the wires into L shapes, with the long arm being twelve inches and the short arm five inches. The holders go around the short end. The wire should move freely around in the holder.

Hold the wire rods in each hand, outward from your waist, and take a deep breath in and out, and say:

May the Goddess bless these divining rods

as a true and clear oracle.

Now, think of a question regarding love and state it aloud three times. The rods should start parallel to one another. As you ask your question, watch what the rods do. If they open up, it’s a positive answer to your question. If they cross one another, it’s a negative response to your question.

Let’s Talk Witch – Candle Magic

Candle Magic

Candle magic is the oldest magic there is. Early wise people concentrated on flames from cave fires to foretell the future or solve a problem. Staring at the flame was the perfect way to go into an alpha state and connect with the spirit world to see past, present and future details of someone’s life or the unfolding events of the village or community.

It is the simplest magic there is because candles are easy to find, and the ritual doesn’t take much work. The beauty of candle magic is that you can manifest just about anything you want to by concentrating on the flame and clearing your mind.

To begin, it is important that you do NOT eat before a ritual or have sex before a ritual. Be clear of body and mind, and spirit because it make the spell more powerful. It also helps that you begin your ritual with a positive mind. You must know and believe the outcome of the spell will be positive and beneficial to all.

Make sure your space is quiet, and clear of clutter. You may want to play soft music or take a cleansing bath with lavender or other aromas of your choosing to relax before you start your spell.

It is important to choose the color of the candle that corresponds with what you desire to manifest.

White = purity, peace, spirituality

Red = sexual vitality, courage, energy, health

Pink = romantic love, affection, friendships

Yellow = creative imagination, memory, communication

Green = abundance, harmony, good luck, fertility

Blue = wisdom, psychic insights, psychic protection, healing

Purple = success in financial affairs, idealism and spiritual power.

Gold = positive

Silver = clairvoyance, astral energies and channeling, also the faculty of far memory and remembering past lives.

Once you have chosen the candle you want to use for your spell, give it your personal vibration. Handle the candle with both hands, study the wax in it, look at it carefully and try to connect with your candle and give it your intention or thought. This gives the wax your life force. Use essential oil (not necessary but helpful) on the candle. Always rub the candle with the oil from the top to the bottom when anointing.

While oiling your candle think about what you wish to accomplish with this magic. Visualize the spell successful and see your desires manifest before you light the candle.

Then light the candle and focus on the flame for at least 5-15 minutes, clearing your mind of all thought and visualize what you want to manifest.

Celebrating 365 Days of Legends, Folklore & Spirituality for November 9th – Loy Krathog, Lord Mayor’s Day

creas pour defi celticNovember 9th

Loy Krathog, Lord Mayor’s Day

Loy Krathog is the traditional wishing festival of Thailand. On this day, small boats are fashioned from banana peels and lotus leaves. When the sun sets, people take their boats to the shore, where they fill them with offerings of incense and gardenia petals. A white candle is then placed in the boat along with a wish. The boats are then set adrift on the water. It is believed that if the candle in the boat stays lit until its owner can no longer see, then the wish will be granted.

After the calendar reform of 1752 the Lord Mayor’s Day was moved from October 28 to November 9. It is on this day that “Mock Mayors” are elected in many of the poorer English towns. The elections are designed to poke good-natured fun at some of the more prestigious municipalities and their sometimes times pompous politicians. Of course, the more offensive the candidate is, the more joy in having him take the podium, whereupon a cabbage stalk is presented to him to serve as hiis mayoral mace. The festivities are usually followed by somewhat raucous behavior and of course the usual drinking and feasting.

Around this time each year in Thailand, at the nearest full room, the Loi Krathong Festival is held in honor of the water goddess, Mae Khongkha, to than her with offerings of river-borne banana-leaf cups holding flowers, lighted candles, or incense for providing life-sustaining water. Also at this full moon, a water festival is celebrated in Cambodia marking the end of the rainy. season. Water is the element of the constellation of Scorpio, making this a time of heightened emotion, intuition, and creativity.

DAILY MAGICKAL APPLICATIONS FOR MONDAY

Monday is named after the moon. The Latin term for Monday is Dies Lunae (“moon’s day”); in the Old English language, this day was Monandaeg; in Greek, it was Hermera Selenes. All of these different names and languages translate to the same thing: the “day of the moon.”

Working with the different phases of the moon is an important skill that takes a bit of time for Witches to learn. So why not cut to the chase and experiment with the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon in all of its magickal energies and aspects?

Magickally, Monday encourages the lunar energies of inspiration, illusion, prophetic dreams, emotions, psychic abilities, travel, women’s mysteries, and fertility.

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Salamandra

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Wishing All Our Precious Family & Friends, A Very Wonderful & Blessed Monday!

As the sun dawned on man

We were there.

As the moon rose and the stars shone

We were there.

As gathers became hunters

We were there.

We praised what was seen and drew

the unknown to ourselves.

We protected the clan and sought

safety for our people.

We gave strength for the hunt and

drew prey to the hunters.

We danced under the full moon.

We praised the Goddess and Gods.

We gave aid with our skills and herbs.

We cured the ill and comforted the dying.

We assisted in the renewal of life through birth.

We were the wise women, the elders.

We led our clan.

We were the first Witches.

Various Protection Charms

Various Protection Charms

Mistletoe, also known as golden bough, carried in a little hand sewn cloth bag is a traditional Celtic method of protecting the self and is also used by the followers of the magic from America’s South.

Marjoram or wild oregano is believed to absorb dangerous negative energies when powdered and sprinkled about the home. In Italy the followers of Italian witchcraft or Stregheria make this herb into a tea and add it to the wash and scrub water to protect the home and its inhabitants.

Cuban and Puerto Rican followers of the folk religion known as Santeria regularly burn brown sugar, a pinch of sulfur and garlic powder on charcoal within their homes to cleanse them of any negative energy. When the home has been cleansed, it is protected by praying to Santa Barbara, the saint of protection, by the light of a red and a white candle.

A pinch of sulfur powder and cayenne pepper carried in a little brown paper pouch upon which a sword has been drawn, can be carried to ward off hostile words and deeds.

Plain bluing (used to whiten clothes in the wash) is said to ward off evil spirits in the magic of America’s South. The bluing is generally carried in a little blue paper pouch.

When a little sulfur and blue metal stone (the type often used in the process of making concrete) are added to bluing and carried in a blue cloth pouch, the charm is said to simultaneously ward off evil and attract lucky energies to the bearer.

Mirrors are said to frighten away dark spirits and tiny pieces of silvered glass are often sewn into Indian cotton dresses as are bells which are also used for this purpose.

A tiny silver bell worn about the neck is a very potent protective charm as evil spirits cannot abide the sweet ring of any bell. Travelers are especially in need of protection when in a foreign land. A tiny mirror smeared with a clove of garlic and placed beneath the bed is said to protect the sleeper when away from his or her own home. The mirror may also be carried on one’s person for this same purpose.
