Greetings Our Sisters, Brothers and Guests

As my wrist heals I am able to do a few more posts so I had decided to streamline them so I can get more information to you. It turns out there were only two small hair line fractures in the top bones of the wrist and should heal fairly quickly. I am very grateful for all the kind words, candles being lit, and healing energy.

As many of us in the USA and other countries are under governmental orders to “Shelter in Place” as it is called here I am going to try to find interesting things for you to read, watch, made even to do inside. They probably will not all have a pagan theme but I am hoping you find them all enjoyable. Please comment under the posts if you like., do not like, or do not care if the particular topic that is in the post and also tell us what you would like to read more about. This way I can bring you more things you like instead of just going by what I like. This is your website as much as it is mine and so is the Coven Life website.

 

 

A Thought for Today – Have You Thought to Thank Your Health Care Team?

In this time of uncertainty, stress, and worry about the possibility of you, a loved one, friend, neighbor, co-workers, etc getting the COVID-19 virus that we may forget our own health care team we see for whatever ailments we get or chronic conditions we may have. If you have a way, even if it is a note by snail mail, to thank your personal health care team and their support team that will not interfer with other patients that need to contact them because or illness or injury or whatever than please make sure to thank them. Besides thanking them for their selfness hard work keep them in your daily prayers, meditation, or whatever you call it when you communicate with the Goddess and/or God ask that they and their family stay healthy.

This is a small way to help these wonderful, caring people to know their efforts not just now with this strain of a coronavirus running rampant but them being there for you and others 24/7/365.

I was able to do this through a phone app for the umbrella group my doctor and her group practice they belong to called My Chart. I also plan to send a thank you for all you to do not just to my doctor and the health care team but addressed to the entire office to include the offices support stuff also. The support staff to me includes the receptionist, billing, etc. Without these people the office could not run as smoothly.

If you chose to accept this I send blessings to you and your family for good health, less stress, and positive energy.

Beginning the Sabbat with a Universal Prayer

Just before we begin our Sabbat, I would like to acknowledge all that has happened and is happening in 2020, before and beyond. It is a significant time of much change and challenges for both humanity and the Great Earth Mother and all within her. Let us take a minute to pray for the universal healing in this time of need.

“May the Great Mother and Great Father give us strength and refuge in our time of need. Help us to remain calm and strong in the face of uncertainty, help us find compassion without the overwhelming feeling of empathy. Great Mother and Father teach me humility, acceptance and to remember my kindness”

A candle-(the larger the better, one to re-light, whenever you wish to contemplate during the winter months over your magickal and mystical path. If your candle runs low transfer the light to another large candle with love and intent of the energy of the first. Contemplations are done for short periods of time so candle needs to burn for only a couple of minutes at a time, longer if you wish it is purely up to you. Note; DO NOT BLOW OUT CANDLE, SNUFF THE CANDLE INSTEAD)

Set up for Ritual:

Mabon SH

Sweep your circle with a broom clockwise (use whatever you have on hand, it’s about physically cleaning your space)

Place the wicker basket with seasonal fruit and vegetables in the center of alter

Tree branch to the right of the wicker basket

Ostara NH

Have your Yin/Yang symbol prepared, holes cut out as indicated on diagram provided ready for ritual

Hard boil your eggs, colour one darker than the other ready to place on symbol

Purify the self and the Environment NH & SH:

Take a shower or bath with your favorite oils

Play your favorite music

Burn your favorite incense

Meditate and ground yourself

Ostara is the beginning of spring, the season for new beginnings and the renewal of life through planting. This is the time we can now plant seeds and nurture them throughout the coming months to bare their fruit. What is it that you would like to plant in your life? What are you willing to nurture throughout the growing season? For this ritual as this season is also a time for re-birth, new life and fertility we will be concentrating on the symbology of the egg. Think of the dark and light as the feminine and the masculine. The Goddess and the God resorting your outer and inner balance.

Mabon is the second of 3 harvest festivals celebrating the equinox and the harvest of apples. On the day of the equinox, day and night is of equal length. For the next 6 months the nights will be longer than the days.  This is such a great time of abundance. All the hard work that it takes to collect the harvest, it is now a time to rest, reap what you have sown and take the time to look at you hopes and aspirations and reflect how they have manifested. Most importantly spend it with the people you love. This is a time of giving, sharing and loving.

Protect us Great Mother and Great Father for all gathered here and those afar who are unable to be with us. Allow no negative energy to touch us, to harm us and that nothing we call upon will harm us and others. We come together in perfect love and perfect trust.

Ritual begins:

Ostara

Place green candle to your left and the white candle to your right. Leaving enough room in the middle to place your Yin/Yang symbol.
Place the Yin/Yang symbol in between the lit candles. Place the darker egg into the hole in the lighter colored side of the Yin/Yang and the lighter colored egg into the hole in the darker side.
When done type in “Ready.”
We offer these eggs to Ostara as all new life grows from an eggs or a seed.
Ostara we ask you to bless these eggs to help us renew ourselves as Mother Earth wakens from her slumber. That we may find new life coursing through us as cleansing energy.
Oak King we ask that your fertilize the hopes and wishes we have written here so they may grow and come to fruition as the year progresses.
As the Spring Equinox is the balance of day and night as equals so is the relationship of all males and females. We ask Hecate and her Consort to bless our relationships with others be they men or women. That we feel equal to them and not above or below them.
Take the eggs and set them on the side. Tape the circle of opposite color into the now empty holes. (Before breaking the eggs to eat them write the same runes on to the circles now in the Yin/Yang symbol. The side you write them on should be the same color as the egg they are written on.
We will take a 2 minutes to complete the Yin/Yang symbol. When you are done type in “Blessed be”.

 

Mabon

Your wand in right hand, facing your alter, arms stretched out above head……….

“Autumn Queen and Harvest God I honor Thee. As the change of seasons begins the Wheel has turned once more. A time to reflect, a time to come together in the here and now in this sacred space where all time becomes one. Face the altar and branch held out in front of you and say……

Put the tree branch back on the altar, take 30 seconds to contemplate about :

The various projects that you will put in action over the winter months, no matter how small or insignificant they may feel.

After the ceremony please feel free to share the consecrated fruit and vegetables in a beautiful meal with family and friends. Make a beautiful dinner for all to enjoy and be thankful for what is.

Weekly Horoscope Sunday, March 15, 2020 to Saturday, March 21, 2020

All Signs

This week Saturn leaves Capricorn (the suits) where it’s been since 2017, to enter rebellious Aquarius. (“To the gates!”) Saturn will be in Aquarius for only three months, then return to Capricorn to stay until the end of the year. (When it leaves, it will not return for 29 years.) This means the next three months are a hint of what is to come in 2021. Meanwhile, this week, on the Spring Equinox, the Sun enters Aries. As Little Richard would say, “There’s a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on!” (Remember: Friends don’t let friends drive naked.)

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Once a year, for four weeks, the Sun is in your sign boosting your energy and bringing you good fortune. Ta da! That time has arrived! This means it’s your turn to recharge your batteries for the rest of the year. This month you will be powerful because in addition to the Sun in your sign, fiery Mars and Jupiter are both at the top of your chart. This makes you ambitious! It also means doors will open for you, allowing you to promote your reputation among your peers. This is a rare and opportune time so make the most of it! Get out there and hustle because things are going your way. As Patrick always says, “If you’re going to fish – go where the fish are.”

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This week you’re getting mixed signals. Because your birthday is a month away, your personal year is coming to an end. This means the Sun is “hiding” in your chart for the next four weeks, which makes you want to seek privacy to contemplate goals for your new year ahead. However, contrary to this influence, fiery Mars and Jupiter want you to get outta Dodge! They want you to explore your world by expanding your knowledge through books, film and study. Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Your popularity will soar in the next four weeks because suddenly, everyone wants you on their team. (You love this.) In fact, some of you will become more involved in organizations and perhaps take on a leadership role. Discussions with authority figures – bosses, supervisors, teachers and parents, will be important this week because Mercury is high in your chart. This is an excellent time to think about your life direction in general. Meanwhile, disputes about shared property, insurance issues and inheritances might be an issue. Fortunately, because Jupiter is also in this part of your chart, you’ll come out smelling like a rose. You win!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

For the next four weeks, the Sun will be sitting at the top of your chart. (This is the only time all year this can occur.) When it happens, it symbolizes that you are thrust into a flattering spotlight, which makes you look good in the eyes of bosses, parents and VIPs. (Even if you don’t do anything different or special.) It’s smoke and mirrors! Obviously, this is a blessing from the universe that you can use to advance your own agenda. Make your pitch! Go after what you want. However, keep in mind that even though you make such a great impression on bosses and VIPs, with Mars opposite your sign now, relations with partners and close friends are testy and challenging. Sigh. Nothing is perfect.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is a strong time for Leos! In the next four weeks, you will focus more on publishing, the media, the law and medicine. You want to travel and do anything to expand your world. You will explore learning new things, hearing lectures, going to classes, attending musical performances or doing anything unusual that is informative and educational. Meanwhile, relations with authority figures are fabulous! Don’t hesitate to ask for a favour. (In fact, things are so cozy, some of you will begin a romance with a boss.) Someone will ask for your advice about design, layout, furniture arrangement, regardless of what you do for a living. You will have something to say because you are a creative sign, who is quick to see the whole picture.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

No matter what you are doing, you will be more passionate in the next four weeks. You will be passionate about everything! (Not just sex, but that, too.) Your desire to travel and explore opportunities in the media, publishing and medicine are strong. With your ruler Mercury sitting right opposite your sign, you will be eager to talk to partners and close friends, and they will enjoy talking to you! Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

For the next four weeks, the Sun is opposite your sign, which is (symbolically speaking) as far away from you as it can get all year. This means you will need more sleep. (Naps are wonderful.) Make sure you get your rest because increased chaos and activity on the home front could be frustrating for you. This activity might be due to renovations, repairs, DIY projects or visiting guests. Of course, these are expected activities because this year is the best year in over a decade for you to improve where you live by making improvements to your current home or moving to something bigger and better. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You’ll be in work mode for the next four weeks. This is a good thing. This influence happens only once a year and it means you suddenly want to be efficient and effective in everything you do. You will look around you to see how you can work better and improve things. You want to be better organized. This feeling is so strong, you will even want to improve your health as well! Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Lucky you! This week the Sun enters your fellow Fire sign, which totally pumps your energy! Specifically, it makes you want to party, have fun and do your own thing. Your primary drive will be to do what you want and to set your own priorities. Romantic relationships will be lighter and fun filled. Vacations, social outings and schmoozing with others will be tops on your menu. Sports events will be exciting and you will be involved with children more than usual. Fortunately, relations with coworkers will be supportive and cozy. Family discussions and home repairs are also on your agenda. Your overall theme of increasing your wealth this year will continue, which is why you are busting your buns to earn money (and spend it!)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Your attention now tuns to home, family and your private life for the next four weeks. You might be more involved than usual with a parent. Having said that, by contrast, Mercury and Venus will encourage you to talk to others, take short trips and explore fun times socializing and enjoying the arts. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Whoa Nellie! As the Sun changes signs this week, it enters a part of your chart that makes you super busy! This is why the next four weeks are jammed with short trips, errands, appointments, tasks and conversations with siblings, relatives and neighbours. Ph yes, the pace of your days will accelerate! But fear not because this will be “fun busy”, not frantic. You’ll be curious to talk to everyone and learn new things. You have excellent moneymaking ideas as well at this time. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

“Show me the money!” This week the Sun moves into your Money House of earnings to stay for four weeks. (This happens only once a year.) This also urges you to reflect upon your values both in terms of what you own, and also your abstract values – the values that govern your decisions. This placement of the Sun will also make you take stock about what you own. Do your possessions serve your needs or are you a slave to them? Do they get in your way? The next four weeks are the perfect time to address this situation. This is a happy time for you because you appreciate your surroundings and you also see how much love there is in your world. Competitive sports will appeal!

One Way to Make Your Own Besom Using Branches and Sticks

I suggest gathering these under a full or waxing Moon phase as they will hold more helpful energy. Your Besom can also be used to sweep out the negativity in your sacred place and/or wherever you are going to cast a circle. Remember to ask the tree you get your branch and sticks from even if they are laying on the ground no longer attached to the tree. It is always better to take what you need from a tree or shrub off of the ground beneath it rather than cutting pieces off the tree or shrub. Get a branch about 3 to 4 inches little taller then you are. Gather good size bunch of unstift smaller branches, I have found getting the sticks from under a shrub or pine tree make the best sweeping part of the Besom, if possible the size difference in them should be no more the approximately 2 inches in size. After gathering the branch and sticks remember to thank the tree for the parts it has given you and to leave an offering such as some water out of a container you have drank from. You need a ball of natural thin twine or some type of undryed vine. Tie the twine or vine to the branch making sure it is tight and will not slip off (you may want to by an angular cut about 4 to 5 inch up from the bottom of the branch to slip this twine or vine when securing it. (The size you have at the bottom of your Besom made from the twigs is up to you. Usually doing 2 to 4 layers of sticks make a good size Besom. Lay your first stick against the branch pull the twine or vine around the stick as tightly as you can, continue doing this until you have made you first layer of sticks pull the twine or vine in the opposite direction the you have been placing the in a tightly as possible and tie it off but do not cut the twine or vine. For the next layer you will follow the same instruction except lay the sticks in the opposite direction from the first layer. The third layer will go in the same direction as the first layer and the fourth layer goes in the same direction as the second layer. To help ensure you sticks stay secure to the branch at the end of each layer of sticks pour white glue over the sticks and twine or vine and make sure it gets down to the branch. If you want you can even put glue on the branch as you lay each first layer stick. Let each layer of sticks dry for approximately 24 hours before adding the next layer. When you have done the last layer and have used glue to help hold it together let the entire Besom dry a minimum of 72 hours before using it.

No matter where you are in the world reading this take simple precautions such as washing hands often, if your cannot wash them carry hand sanitizer to use often when out in public. Those of you with children and/or others that come in and out often insist they wash there hands well before touching anything in your home. To help keep your home COVID-19 free use either a throw away cloth such as Clorox Wipes on all door knobs, counters, TV remotes, computer keyboards, game controls, etc.

If you are considered a high risk for catching this wear a mask or heavy winter scarf and gloves outside whenever you leave your home. I am in this high risk catagory and wear a winter scarf along with medical gloves underneath regular gloves so I don’t look to silly. I am lucky to have kept many scarfs and thin knit gloves over the years so I wear a scarf and pair of gloves once then they go into the laundry. These are the only thing in my home that always get washed with HOT WATER and a 1/4 cup of WHITE VINEGAR. Also dry them on HOT. White vinegar is a bacteria killer not as good as chlorine bleach but it doesn’t fade my clothes and I am not allergic to white vinegar. I also wash any coat I have been outside in to go anywhere with the scarfs and gloves but hang dry it.

Full Moon in Virgo

During the Full Moon in Virgo, we turn to the task of separating grain from the chaff, to bring the things in our lives to order. Virgo is the practical priestess—the healer—connected to archetype of the Virgin Goddess, Hestia, who teaches us the value of intentional solitude. Virgo medicine show us how to be discriminating and hone things down to their essentials. She is the solitary Witch in the forest who tends the herbs by the Moon. The one who knows that rituals of daily life are sacred, that the body is the temple, and that service in the spiritual practice. Now is the time to synthesize, refine, and make the things of our lives sound. To know just what medicine is required, to dispel illusion and see into the heart of the matter.

Hestia, help me sort the seeds. Help me know when it is time to harvest and when it is time to let something die on the vine. Show me the magic of a simple well-ordered life.

Three Sisters Chili (For Mabon)

3 cups (128 g) beans (pinto, kidney, navy, garbanzo, etc.) precooked or canned (drain and rinse)

Olive oil

1 red onion, sliced

2 clove garlic, chopped

1 cups celery, chopped

2 cups butternut or acron squash, cooked, cooled, and cubed

1 cup corn

1 cup tomato paste

2 teaspoons cumin

2 Tablespoons chili powder

1 Tablespoon oregano

Place beans in a large Dutch oven. In a frying pan with olive oil, cook red onion, garlic, and celery until tender. Add to Dutch oven. Add squash, corn, and tomato paste. Stir in enough water to cover. Add seasonings and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, then cook uncovered for about 2 hours on low heat, stirring occasionally, and adding more water if needed to keep from sticking to bottom. This chili is even better the second day. For an authentic touch, serve corn bread or corn fritters.

Naniamo Eggs (For Ostara)

FIRST LAYER

2 cups (128 g) Oreo cookie crumbs

1/2 (64 g) chopped pecans

1/2 (64 g) cup brown sugar

1/2 cup (64 g) melted butter

Combine ingredients, then mold into egg-sized balls. Place balls on cookie sheet with wax paper. Refrigeate for 1 hour

SECOND LAYER

2 cups (128 g) icing (powder sugar) sugar

1 cup (128 g) custard powder (or a package of instant banana or lemon pudding)

1/2 cup (64 g) softened buttter

Dribble milk into this mixture to make a thick icing. Mold this around the eggs. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

THIRD LAYER

Melt 8 squares of semisweet chocolate in a double boiler. Using 2 spoons, quickly dip the eggs into the chocolate to cover. Refrigerate until hard.

GAIA CARD

I bought this oracle deck because it called to me as a way to bring Mother Earther or Gaia or any other name of names we know this wonderful planet we live on. Gaia gives us unconditional love no matter how much humans disrespect her in a mirid of ways.

This card Gaia – Nurturing from, the Earth Magic Oracle Cards by Steven D. Farmer, tells me Gaia loves us unconditionally no matter how much humans disrespect her through too many people to us overusing natural resources through too many ways to list here. So let’s go with some highlights, not enough open space left in the “first world counties” to grow enough food to feed their overpopulation, and in “third world countries” where there is drought caused by too many manmade structures built on other parts of Gaia that causes the natural order of rain, evaporation of moisture to bring much-needed rains to fracking to over-harvesting medicinal plants, fungus, insects, etc that grow in the rain forests and or places to throwing trash where ever they are at which causes wildlife to live unnaturally using things such as plastic to build nests or trying to feed a cigarette butt to their offspring. to places using the oceans, other small and/or large waterways to dump garbage collected for the overpopulated cities or people just throwing things overboard to thousands of other big and small ways we rape, pillage, overuse and disrespect our beautiful, all-loving Gaia.

Ask yourself this question and really think about an honest answer you give yourself and to the younger generations following us. What should we be teaching not just from books about how Gaia, the waterways (this includes any kind of pond, stream, river, sea, ocean, etc) and the air we and they breathe but also how we choose to be part of the solution in helping, honoring, and most of all living in harmony with her. Or are you going to be part of the problem of continuing to use up Gaia’s many resources she gives us freely as well as lovingly? Or are you somewhere in between these two positions?

This will be a popular week for you. Everyone wants you to be on their team. For some reason, you might begin to make secret plans about something or work quietly, behind the scenes on a project? Meanwhile, the next five weeks are an excellent time for you to buy wardrobe treasures. Take advantage of this opportunity! This is also a great week to travel. Finding the Triple God

Because Wicca places a great importance on the archetype of a Triple Goddess, I question why there isn’t a Triple God?  Though I found several attempts at creating one on various web sites, I did not find one that seemed to me much a good counterpart to the Triple Goddess.

Having failed to find one that made sense to me, I decided to create my own.  To build this archetype, I created the following requirements.

  1. Just as all three titles in the maiden/mother/crone were easily identifiable as feminine, I needed parallel titles that were recognized as male.  Titles like “hunter” or “youth” would not work because you could not identify the gender.  For example, Raven Grimassi’s triple god consisting of The Hooded One, The Horned One and The Old One did not work for me because I could not identify the gender of each of these.  I also wanted to stay contemporary and identify titles that would be evident today and not worry about statements like “men used to be the primary hunters.”
  2. I wanted to reflect the life-cycle of a man…

A Thought for More Than Just Today

Priestess Hypatia and got to talk for a while Wednesday late afternoon. Physically she and her family are. But just as probably most Australians emotionally tore up with what has happened to their beautiful country basically needlessly. If the government would have been listening to the ingenious residents of many centuries and allowed those, to my way of thinking, who are learned and professional bush burners to keep the land productive with controlled burns that do not kill and destroy needlessly.

I ask each person reading this to pray or talk to or however you choose to communicate with the God or Goddess of your choice asking that they help open the closed minds of those with power and even those without open their minds to listen to the elders that have had instructions handed down from generation to generation on how to burn the bush in a manner that is safe for Mother Earth and her inhabitants.

Priestess Hypatia also told me there is talk of the ingenious elders teaching people from the USA how to safely do controlled burning to keep us from having out of control wildfires. Which to me would be answering many Californians prayers, especially those that have lost everything in a wildfire some people more than once.

In Wisconsin when I was a child, as you enter it from another state, in most rest areas along major highways, and in other locations they have very big signs of Smokey the Bear with his ranger hat on and a dirt shovel in his hands with his famous saying “Only you can prevent forest fires.” and blow that the risk of fire for that day in different colors depending on the level of risk for a spark or a carelessly thrown out burning cigarette or lightening or anything else that could start a fire. Even though we do not hear about fires in Wisconsin I have seen a couple and as a child I was terrified and as an adult just very angry at whoever the careless person had been. These fires I saw would be only a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the fires in Australia that burned so huge and hot as to create their own weather systems and kill even the seeds that would make the plants and trees starting to grow in the next year or so.

Us as humans, supposedly the smartest animal on this planted, need to learn that “new, improved modern ways” are not always better especially when it to caring for and living in harmony with all living things. We need to listen to the ingenious people who have inhabited the lands we live on for the best way to keep the land and I do not mean just the piece of land your own, as Priestess Hypatia told the land is the whole country around you not just your tiny piece of it, but your state, country, and continent you live in is also something we all need to take better care of. Than maybe…hopefully we will go back to when controlled burns were done instead of uncontrollable wildfires burning, actually having a distinction between the 4 seasons, enough rain globally for crops to grow, humans, domestic and wild animals would have clean water to drink, humans in what we consider 3rd world countries could live as their ancestors did and manage the land and fresh water in such away we would not see commercials asking for donations to feed hungry children or adults. It is time we look back before the industrial revolution to see how things with the land were done not just for the betterment of Mother Earth but for the betterment of all living things that grow upon her. It is time to quit raping the land and to again start caring about it.

So, please in your daily communication with whoever the Goddess and/or God you commune with ask for enlightenment not only for others but for yourself as well to open minds globally to listen to the elders of the land on the old ways of keeping Mother Earth healthy and living in harmony with her.
