Weekly Horoscope Sunday, February 2, 2020 to Saturday, February 8, 2020

All Signs

This week two planets change signs. Mercury moves into Pisces for the next six weeks. (Normally, it is in one sign only a few weeks but because it goes retrograde, it will stay there longer.) Then Venus moves into Aries for six weeks, which shifts how we all relate to each other. Last week I speculated how self-driving cars might create a new country song where a guy loses his dog because it was in his truck that drove away. This generated some mail! Fred, down in Mexico (from Gabriola Island) sent me the words to his clever song, written and performed with just this premise! Another reader reminded me of a country song where the guy’s best friend ran off with his wife, and he sure misses him.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This will be a popular week for you. Everyone wants you to be on their team. For some reason, you might begin to make secret plans about something or work quietly, behind the scenes on a project? Meanwhile, the next five weeks are an excellent time for you to buy wardrobe treasures. Take advantage of this opportunity! This is also a great week to travel. In fact, until the middle of the month, your urge to grab a change of scenery will be strong! Relations with others will be smooth because with Venus in your sign for the next several weeks, you will be charming and diplomatic with everyone! Kiss, kiss, hug, hug.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This continues to be a powerful time for you because this is the only time all year when the Sun is at the top of your chart thrusting you in a flattering spotlight. This means you look fabulous to authority figures – bosses, parents, teachers and the police. You don’t have to do anything special – it’s all smoke and mirrors. Obviously, you can use this to your advantage and go after what you want. Expect to be more involved with younger people in the next few weeks. You will also run into friends you haven’t seen for a while. This could be interesting for some of you because there’s a strong possibility of a secret love affair starting this week for the next month. Oh my.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Grab every chance to travel or get further education or training because you’re eager to expand your world. However, beware: Fiery Mars opposite your sign until the middle of the month, makes you impatient with others. Count to three before you respond. Anger serves no purpose except to make everyone miserable. Fortunately, Venus is now in your House of Friendships promoting warm bonds with others, especially with creative, artistic types. In fact, things will get so cozy, a friend could become a lover! Your ruler Mercury is now at the top of your chart encouraging new studies, involvement in professional organizations and making plans for your future.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Life looks good! You are more in touch with your feelings and emotions; and in practical terms, you’re facing paperwork and issues related to taxes, debt, inheritances and shared property. It’s time. Fortunately, Mars continues to boost your energy to work hard for the next few weeks. (You might be a tad bossy directing the efforts of others.) Nevertheless, you will get a lot done! Mercury encourages travel plans, especially returning someplace where you have been before. Fair Venus is now crossing the top of your chart, greasing the wheels with bosses and people in power. They like you and this is a good thing!

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You need more sleep in the next few weeks, please remember this. Your focus on partnerships and close friends continues to be strong. Use this focus to learn more about how you relate to others because what can be more important than having successful relationships? We are gregarious and our relations with others either creates our happiness or destroys it. Meanwhile, two planets are urging you to play and have fun. It’s a great time to get away for a vacation. Venus wants you to travel for pleasure; while Mars wants you to be saucy and courageous about doing your own thing! (It’s not all play – Mercury want you to clear up old business about shared property, inheritances, taxes and debt.) Oh well.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You continue to be keen and ready to work hard and be productive. You’re on self-improvement kick because you want to be more organized in every aspect of your life. Great! In part this could be triggered by increased chaos and activity on the home front. If you don’t get better organized, you will be buried because things could get out of control. Fortunately, the placement of Venus for the next several weeks will bring you assistance, help and favours from others. It might even bring you money and gifts! This placement of Venus will also heighten your sex drive and make intimacy sweet and memorable. Sigh. “He was strong and compassionate and he really knew how to accessorize.”

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This continues to be a playful, fun-loving time for you! Parties, fun outings, socializing, sports events and enjoyable activities with kids are tops on your menu. This is a great time to slip away on a vacation. Fortunately, your ruler Venus is opposite your sign now for the next weeks, which improves your relationships with partners and close friends. You’ll be able to express your affection easily to others. In addition, Mars will continue to give all your communications extra passion and energy, which makes this a great time for writers and those of you in sales, marketing, teaching and acting. Make plans for some fun times!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Your focus on home and family continues to be strong. Along with this, many of you are also more active with a parent. You’re working hard to earn money and many of you are spending big as well because the cash is flowing! The new placement of Venus will encourage smooth relations with coworkers. Many of you will look for ways to make your workspace more attractive. Work will become more pleasant. You might get praise or even a raise from a boss. Mercury retrograde will definitely attract old flames from your past back into your world; however, it will trigger your enjoyment of mind games, puzzles, playful activities with kids, as well as reading and writing for enjoyment.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You continue to be busy with short trips, conversations with others plus increased reading, writing and studying. You’ll have no trouble keeping up to this accelerated base because fiery Mars is still in your sign for the next few weeks boosting your energy, making you aggressive in going after what you want. (Make a point to get some physical outdoor exercise.) Many of you will tackle home repairs and DIY projects at this time. Nevertheless, as Venus changes signs this week, it ushers in a month of romance and entertaining diversions. Yay! You will enjoy playful times with kids. Romantic relationships will be favoured because you’re happy to be who you are.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

For the next few weeks, you will continue to reflect upon your values as well as your financial situation and your movable property. Make sure that what you own serves your needs and not the other way around. Some of you will want to show something off? Expect a lot of opportunity to do this in 2020 because for the first time in over a decade, lucky Jupiter is in your sign bringing you good fortune and increased happiness. Some of this increased focus on money and earnings will result in making where you live more attractive. You might redecorate or buy something nice for where you live. You will enjoy entertaining at home more in the next few weeks. Make careful plans because Mercury retrograde will create confused communications.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This is your time to shine because the Sun is in your sign until Feb. 18, which is why people and favourable circumstances are attracted to you now. This week, Venus changes signs and this enhances your ability to relate to others even more. For starters, Venus will make you realize just how much love there is in your daily world. Others care for you and vice versa. Not only that, you will develop a greater appreciation for the beauty in your daily surroundings. How cool is that? Mars continues to boost your activity with groups and organizations. It might also create a competition with someone. “I win!”

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You continue to play things low key while the Sun is waiting in the wings before your birthday arrives. Nevertheless, Mercury in your sign attracts old friends back into your world. (Admittedly, Mercury retrograde in your sign also creates delays, confused communications, missed paperwork, lost items and missed appointments.) Oy vey! Venus will start to attract money to you and this is a good thing. Venus will also encourage you to spend money on beautiful things for yourself and others – jewelry, art, clothing. Fiery Mars at the top of your chart ignites your ambition and this drive will last for two more weeks, so make the most of it. Enjoy your increased popularity!

Finding the Triple God

Because Wicca places a great importance on the archetype of a Triple Goddess, I question why there isn’t a Triple God?  Though I found several attempts at creating one on various web sites, I did not find one that seemed to me much a good counterpart to the Triple Goddess.

Having failed to find one that made sense to me, I decided to create my own.  To build this archetype, I created the following requirements.

  1. Just as all three titles in the maiden/mother/crone were easily identifiable as feminine, I needed parallel titles that were recognized as male.  Titles like “hunter” or “youth” would not work because you could not identify the gender.  For example, Raven Grimassi’s triple god consisting of The Hooded One, The Horned One and The Old One did not work for me because I could not identify the gender of each of these.  I also wanted to stay contemporary and identify titles that would be evident today and not worry about statements like “men used to be the primary hunters.”
  2. I wanted to reflect the life-cycle of a man…

These Icons were drawn by a member of Lady Beltane’s family and then given to Lady Beltane to use as she wants to. A Thought for More Than Just Today

Priestess Hypatia and got to talk for a while Wednesday late afternoon. Physically she and her family are. But just as probably most Australians emotionally tore up with what has happened to their beautiful country basically needlessly. If the government would have been listening to the ingenious residents of many centuries and allowed those, to my way of thinking, who are learned and professional bush burners to keep the land productive with controlled burns that do not kill and destroy needlessly.

I ask each person reading this to pray or talk to or however you choose to communicate with the God or Goddess of your choice asking that they help open the closed minds of those with power and even those without open their minds to listen to the elders that have had instructions handed down from generation to generation on how to burn the bush in a manner that is safe for Mother Earth and her inhabitants.

Priestess Hypatia also told me there is talk of the ingenious elders teaching people from the USA how to safely do controlled burning to keep us from having out of control wildfires. Which to me would be answering many Californians prayers, especially those that have lost everything in a wildfire some people more than once.

In Wisconsin when I was a child, as you enter it from another state, in most rest areas along major highways, and in other locations they have very big signs of Smokey the Bear with his ranger hat on and a dirt shovel in his hands with his famous saying “Only you can prevent forest fires.” and blow that the risk of fire for that day in different colors depending on the level of risk for a spark or a carelessly thrown out burning cigarette or lightening or anything else that could start a fire. Even though we do not hear about fires in Wisconsin I have seen a couple and as a child I was terrified and as an adult just very angry at whoever the careless person had been. These fires I saw would be only a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the fires in Australia that burned so huge and hot as to create their own weather systems and kill even the seeds that would make the plants and trees starting to grow in the next year or so.

Us as humans, supposedly the smartest animal on this planted, need to learn that “new, improved modern ways” are not always better especially when it to caring for and living in harmony with all living things. We need to listen to the ingenious people who have inhabited the lands we live on for the best way to keep the land and I do not mean just the piece of land your own, as Priestess Hypatia told the land is the whole country around you not just your tiny piece of it, but your state, country, and continent you live in is also something we all need to take better care of. Than maybe…hopefully we will go back to when controlled burns were done instead of uncontrollable wildfires burning, actually having a distinction between the 4 seasons, enough rain globally for crops to grow, humans, domestic and wild animals would have clean water to drink, humans in what we consider 3rd world countries could live as their ancestors did and manage the land and fresh water in such away we would not see commercials asking for donations to feed hungry children or adults. It is time we look back before the industrial revolution to see how things with the land were done not just for the betterment of Mother Earth but for the betterment of all living things that grow upon her. It is time to quit raping the land and to again start caring about it.

So, please in your daily communication with whoever the Goddess and/or God you commune with ask for enlightenment not only for others but for yourself as well to open minds globally to listen to the elders of the land on the old ways of keeping Mother Earth healthy and living in harmony with her. Thank you for doing this!

Finding Nature in Your Neighborhood

Nature is all around us and there is a plethora in every neighborhood, one only needs to become still and watch.

Because both cities and tightly packed suburbs offer wildlife bountiful nooks and crannies in which to hide, it can be difficult to spot the animals that live in our midst. Many thrive among paved streets, sidewalks, buildings, parking lots, and high-rises. There are animals in abundance burrowing in the soil of center medians and tiny backyard gardens, making nests in the trees that line broad and busy avenues, and buzzing around the flowers that beautify our parks. To find these creatures, we only need to stop, look, and listen. Nature’s drama is continually playing out on the window ledges where weary birds stop to roost, in the shadowy places where cautious nocturnal mammals wait for night’s mantle to fall, and the fountains where playful waterfowl splash and frolic. In observing the animals that share our habitat, we become a part of their beautiful, complex, and exciting world.

WOTC and CL Websites and Coven’s Combined Logo

I am going to use this as the combined logo for WOTC, Coven Life, and Heart’s Spirit Coven as all threes logo as part of a letterhead, places that ask for our logo online, etc.

I picked the Tree of Life because to me not only does it represent As Above, So Below but also how 2 separate websites are coming together as one through the Heart’s Spirit Coven. All who read and/or follow Witches of The Craft and Coven Life whether you practice as a Solitary or in a face to face pagan group are a student with Coven Life, etc you are welcome to join me and the rest of Heart’s Spirit Coven for Open Chats, Esbat and Sabbat celebration gatherings. We do not follow a pure Wiccan path but a path of many different traditions so we are a eclectic coven of Solitary Witches and students who come together for gatherings and to chat.

As you can see WOTC is in yellow for Sun light, Coven Life is in blue for Life Giving water, both of which nourish learning and work together to form Heart’s Spirit Coven and Coven Life’s Witchcraft School. Let’s show Lady Abyss how she was loved and honored for making this website possible in the first place in the 1990’s when to be a witch or pagan we had to keep it to ourselves or within our family and/or coven. Witches of The Craft with Lady Abyss at the helm was one of the few pioneers on the world wide web that was brave enough to speak up and out about real witchcraft not the type you see in movies or on TV or read fictional stories about. She got death threats weekly in the beginning which did taper off as other metaphysical and witchcraft websites started showing up on the world wide web but even a week before she crossed to the Summerlands she called to warn me that she had gotten an email threatening everyone who was part of WOTC. A couple of years ago ISIS, the radical group not the Goddess, threaten to cut off her head and display it for all the world to see what would happen to infidels. Did she run and hide NO instead she kept right on bring us new and interesting information from many different traditions of witchcraft. Then she found out that in the spring or summer of 2018 that members of ISIS were literally in the next county over from her. Did she run and hide then? NO she kept on keeping on with her website that she had put so many years and tears into. I will let you in on a secret that since she is not hear to tell me off for saying this, the real reason Lady Abyss sold WOTC was because every day after she was back in her cabin after it had been burnt to the ground by an arsonist all she felt was negativity come from the readers of WOTC and she felt most of you wanted her gone from here. I took WOTC over because I was grateful usually that Lady Abyss talked me into starting my own website COven Life it took her a while and a joke between us was that she twisted so hard it almost broke. I didn’t want to come out of my Solitary practice to take up the mantel of High Priestess to a coven and a mentor to new witches by opening a witchcraft school even though they were both online. I was perfectly happy posting on WOTC and I remember fighting tooth and nail until I just  gave up and gave in to Lady A’s vision for me. NOw I’m the owner of 2 websites, a witchcraft school, online coven, and love it. SO yes, A you were right to push me years ago. So again I ask you to please email me any type of contribution you want to make as part of the WOTC and CL community, not with money but with words, songs, a joke, whatever you feel like submitting as long as it is not erotica which could get this site thrown off of WordPress and believe me that’s the last thing I want to see happen after we all worked so hard to save this legacy of a wonderful, kind, beautiful, and giving woman. Take a minute to think where you might be on your own path if not for these websites and Lady Abyss than raise your cup or glass high and thank her. Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions, Wildfires and Climate Changes

Combined I am hoping it will help all of us to treat Gaia with a whole hellva lot more respect as we would any Crone or other Elder in our blood and spirit families. She has also told me in other emails while what is being reported worldwide is what that government, having his their heads in the sand for decades knowing this apocalyptic change was coming, is for the most part controlling to make themselves look good.

While the Australian wildfires are dominating people’s thoughts worldwide let’s take a look at other places on Gaia where she is showing in spectacular ways she is not going to put up with humans ignoring her warnings that climate changes are every where. Yet humans still continue to rape her of trees, plant life, wildlife,entire ecosystems, etc on land in any kind of waterway from the smallest creeks all the way up to our oceans, and the very air our children breathe are being decimated for what for human kind to take more land to cover over with asphalt, concrete, buildings, and large ships to name a few things. Instead of having a what use to be a normal flow of water between the sky and planet through evaporation to precipitation back to evaporation as so the cycle continued being the rain to different locations as their turn came out precipitation cycle no longer has enough land to evaporate the mixture need for precipitation to do it job causing catastrophic droughts and contributing to climate changes which can bring about many different types of horrible changes not only to Gaia but every living thing on her, people starving in record numbers, years of drought sometimes followed by some much rain coming down to fast for the parched planet to make use of instead turns these places into a different type of danger zone with flooding,  landslides, crops ruined, people drowning, people having to evacuate, infecting drinking water with unusual bacteria that kill humans and wildlife.

All of this comes from the growth of “intelligence” by humans starting way back to the first time human mastered fire making up through the present with us not only living in non-harmony with Gaia but with our Universe as a whole because of all the human and space garbage circling Gaia which in turn affects how sunlight is filtered through the stratosphere and astrophere which in turn affects plant life which in turn affects the precipitation cycle. So no matter how much humankind protest that there is no change in the climate or that it is being caused by nature it boils down to the politicians and others raping Gaia on a daily bases instead of living in harmony with all living things, the land, and water that are also entitled to continue living just as humans are. Honestly if the entire planet went back to living in man-made shelters made from fallen trees, our only fuel fallen trees and dead planets, we left it to the people who know when and how to do control burns to nourish Gaia rather than devastate her, tore down most of not all building over three stories high, instead On better mass transportation outside of major cities, grew most of our own foods with remembering to rotate the crops, we’re more careful with the amount of electricity and water we use, consistently recycle everything that can be especially urging were we live to have a recycling program for businesses very slowly but in time picking up speed to start living in harmony with every living creature, plant, tree, etc out children’s children could hopefully start seeing a better world to live on, no more wars, or hunting species to extinction, ect.

Ok sorry I got kind of off-topic. There are other places with catastrophes going on that can use our prayers and positive thoughts and energy being sent to them.

What can we do to help humans, all wildlife, plants, trees, crops, etc as a community of witches and pagans? First, be very careful about what intention you have in your mind to help a country. YOu do not want your thinking to be on an intention of fire while trying to bring rain to Australia and/or North Korea nor do you want to be thinking of rain when trying to ask Gaia to stop the earthquakes in Porto Rico or the flooding etc in the Southern United States. I will not be putting up prayers or spells for you to tweak into your own words to helps these different countries. You write from the heart ask your Spirit Guides and ancestors to help you find the words you want. We are in the waning Moon cycle which can help your prayers and/or spells be more powerful. But if it feels right to you to do it in the daytime rather than at night the waning Moon is still with us and if you can do it after 1:00 PM your local time the waning Sun will add its energy to your workings as well. This is where my beautiful sister had her apothecary farm and livelihood.
The miracle is they are all fine, there home has some damage but still somewhat standing. The farm is all gone but at least they have their lives.
The locals are still on high alert and will be all summer.

I can’t visit her as the coast is still burning and very dangerous.

EVERYONE: Pick up your beverage and in your own words thank the God and/or Goddess you ask for the rain from, hold the cup high as you conclude you thanks take a sip from your beverage and set it back down. Type in So Mote It Be when done

Pick up your snack and in your own words thank the God and/or Goddess you ask for the rain from hold the snack up high when you conclude these thank yous. Now take a small bite and set it back down. Type in So Mote when you are done. Save the rest of your beverage and snack than go outside to make your offering to all the deities approximately half of your beverage and snack, you should drink and eat the rest outside.

Now we will do a spell/prayer asking for the rains to continue as long as needed

For More Rain

( The intent is to keep in your third eye {middle of your forehead] is to see it rain over the wildfires of Australia but causing no flooding, wash out roads, or any other damage to much rain in one location could cause)

We call upon the ancient Aboriginal God of rain and water

To help douse the wildfires and keep them from spreading any further

We ask that rain only affects the wildfires and does not cause any damage to anything on it is own

We ask that all the people, animals, birds, and reptiles not yet affected by these wildfires escape whole and unharmed

Now get as clear a picture in your mind od the rain helping to put out the wildfires. We will all meditate for 3 minutes on this picture in our minds.

After the 3 minutes or however long you want to meditate on the rain coming to all of Australia say,

Set the container is a safe place where the water will not be spilled. Add more water as needed to keep the map submerged until all the wildfires are completely out. Than turn towards the South ans say, “We send all the energy raised here tonight or morning to the rain clouds over Australia making them larger and more effective at helping to put out the wildfires.” “This is our will for Australia, So Mote It Be” or however you end your own spell work.”

I walk this circle the times in the direction of the setting Sun. The circle is open but never broken. Humans have a strong affinity for the moon. It’s waxing and waning has formed the basis for calendars across continents and cultures. Almanacs charted full moons so farmers could work by its light. The full moon has been affiliated with harvests, festivals, wolves, and insanity. The very word “lunacy” stems from people’s ideas of mental stability and the moon’s phases. Full moons have captured imaginations across cultures and time, and many cultures have named the various full moons. 2020 is notable in that it will not have twelve full moons, but thirteen. The thirteenth full moon is called a blue moon. About every nineteen years, the opposite occurs, in that February will not have a full moon. This is referred to as a black moon. Each moon of the year has its own name and connotations depending on the season.

January’s full moon is often referred to as the Wolf Moon. It can also be called the Moon after Yule, in reference to the pagan holiday of Yule supplanted by Christmas. The early Catholic Church incorporated pagan holidays into their calendar to help conversion, which is why they coincide with holidays like Yule or solstice celebrations. February’s moon is usually called a Snow Moon since it tends to snow a lot in February. Some Native American tribes call it a Hunger Moon due to scarce food supplies.

March’s full moon is called the Worm Moon to signify the return of earthworms in the winter thaw as the season’s transition. Many names are attributed to March’s moon, such Crow Moon, Sap Moon for maple syrup season, and the old Anglo-Saxon term Lenten Moon. As the name implies, the Lenten Moon is the only full moon to occur during Lent. Continuing the Easter theme, an old Anglo-Saxon term for April’s full moon was Paschal Moon, in reference to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The more common name for April’s moon in modern times is Pink Moon, as pink phlox flowers bloom that month.

Whereas April’s moon is for one flower, May’s full moon is called the Flower Moon to signify the massive bloom following April’s rainfall. The less romantic but more practical Corn Planting Moon is another name. As mentioned earlier, farmers like full moons because they can work under its light if the sky is clear. June is called the Strawberry Moon as that month is the peak of the season. Mead Moon is another name, as fermenting started earlier in the year to produce a proper drink. Continuing the new season’s growth, July is often called Buck Moon because male deer’s antlers start growing around this time. Since July often has many thunderstorms, Thunder Moon is another term for July’s full moon.

August, the last full month of summer, has many names related to food and bounty. The Algonquin tribes called it Sturgeon Moon as the lakes filled with fish. The Anglo-Saxons called it the Grain Moon, and some called it the Barley Moon or Green Corn Moon. The importance of the harvest and it’s relation to the moons grows stronger in the autumn. September’s moon is called the Corn Moon, though the Farmer’s Almanac used to refer to it as the Harvest Moon based on the Anglo-Saxon term.

In modern times, the Harvest Moon is in October, and in fact this happens every three years because the Harvest Moon is based on the equinox, not the calendar. Hunter’s Moon is the term for October’s full moon otherwise, since it’s prime hunting season and the time when northern peoples would stock up on meat for the winter. In 2020, the Blue Moon will occur on Halloween, making it even more extraordinary for moon fans.

To end the year, November is often called the Beaver Moon as beavers tend to be the most active in that month. It can also be called the Frost Moon since frost starts to form at night. If November’s full moon is the last before the winter solstice, it is called the Mourning Moon. Winter is often considered a season of death due to the migration of wildlife and trees bereft of leaves. December is aptly called the Cold Moon since winter starts in that month. The Anglo-Saxons once called the full moon the Moon before Yule, in reference to the holiday occurring around the winter solstice as mentioned before. It can also be called the Oak Moon, though this term can also apply to November. Either way, the history of the full moon’s names is long and spans many cultures and traditions.

JANUARY FULL MOON

The very first full moon of the year is known in many cultures as the Full Wolf Moon, which is appropriate given the deep, ancient ties between wolves and January’s full moon. For instance, the Gaelic word for January, Faoilleach, comes from the term for wolves, faol-chù, even though wolves haven’t existed in Scotland for centuries. The Saxon word for January is Wulf-monath, or Wolf Month. Meanwhile, the festival of the Japanese wolf god, Ooguchi Magami, is held in January. The Seneca tribe links the wolf so strongly to the moon, they believe that a wolf gave birth to the moon by singing it into the sky. Just why are wolves so strongly associated with January’s full moon?

The most obvious answer is because wolves are much louder and more noticeable in January, which is when breeding season begins. Wolves begin to howl more frequently and aggressively to establish their territory, threatening neighbors and enemies alike to stay far away from their breeding grounds. A small pack of wolves may even try to make themselves seem like a larger pack by howling together. While a lone wolf can sustain a howl for the duration of a single breath, an entire pack may howl in unison for longer than two minutes during breeding season.

While it makes sense for the haunting howls of wolves to be more memorable during January, how did wolves come to be associated with the full moon itself? Everyone is familiar with the iconic image of a wolf raising its head and howling at the full moon – but do wolves actually sing to the moon? While that might be a romantic idea, there’s no scientific evidence that links wolves to the lunar cycle. Humans may have begun to associate wolves with the moon simpy because they are nocturnal animals that are very active at night. In addition, wolves do raise their heads in the direction of the sky so their howls can travel over far distances to reach their pack mates as they roam. Instead of singing to the moon, they’re actually singing to their friends.

In fact, wolves are so well-known for their tight-knit communities that the Sioux tribe called January’s full moon the Moon Where Wolves Run Together. The wolf is often seen as a symbol of loyalty and protection in many cultures. The Wolf Moon is the perfect time for you to reach out to loved ones and reaffirm your connections, in preparation for deepening your bonds and taking on new challenges together over the upcoming year.

That said, lone wolves are also entirely capable of overcoming hostile conditions on their own with their resourcefulness. According to Celtic mythology, the wolf is infused with lunar power, which refers to its ability to sniff out hidden insights or knowledge, and to detect unexpected sources of danger. In some legends, the wolf even swallows the sun so the wolf can bask in the moon’s overflowing lunar power!
