A Laugh for Today

If only I could. Too much to do for the couple of days it’s going to be cooler here before going back to heat indexes in triple digits. Maybe I’ll pretend Monday or Tuesday is Saturday and just goof off for a change. No posting, replying to emails, do no work for Big Dawgs job, no cooking, no housework just hang out with my fur kids and do a little magickal working.

What will you be doing on your Saturday? Something relaxing and fun I hope!!

Pick your drink….Fill a container to drink from….Raise your beverage container….

I say this toast/prayer for each and every one of my dear WOTC Family and Friends

“May you be in the Summerland’s an hour before Hades knows your dead”

(This toast/prayer is a paraphrase on an old Irish toast. I substitute Summerland’s for Heaven and Hades for the Devil)

A Thought for Today

Make your weekend shine with smile and happiness!

A Laugh for Today

Yes, I went back to the original titles I used for years both on here and Coven Life for A Thought for Today and A Laugh for Today. Granted some of the laughs might be more of a chuckle or outright groan type of humor but that’s they way my sense of humor rolls…LOL

If you start your couple of days off after work today enjoy your weekend. If your weekend starts on a different day of the week than start enjoying your weekend off of work whenever it falls.

Ancient Maya Artifact Depicting Supernatural Entity Discovered

Researchers with the country’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) uncovered the ceramic dish during excavations at the Cansacbé archaeological site. It is located around 7 miles from the port city of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico.

The multicolored dish was found in a male burial dated to the Late Classic period (600 to 900 A.D.) of Mesoamerican history, INAH said in a statement.

The Maya civilization dominated what is now southeastern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and the western areas of El Salvador and Honduras for more than 3,000 years until the era of Spanish colonization.

The Maya were notable for creating the only fully developed writing system in pre-Columbian America, and for their striking architecture and art, as well as their advanced calendar, mathematics, and astronomical system.

The dish found at Cansacbé features a representation of a “wahyis”—protective spirits or beings found in Maya mythology. The artifact was intended as a funerary offering, INAH said.

Researchers think the individual who was buried with the dish was possibly a member of the local elite.

After its discovery, the artifact was carefully cleaned at a laboratory in Campeche. Despite the fact that the illustrations have faded in some areas, it is possible to see the representation of a jaguar, or a man dressed in the skin of a jaguar, standing on a bench. The scene is framed by small boxes that appear to represent the shells of turtles.

These types of representations are common in Maya ceramics from the Late Classic period, INAH Director General Diego Prieto Hernández said in a statement.

For most of the 20th century, the Cansacbé site was never systematically studied. And unfortunately, in the first half of the century, several of its mounds were used as material for the construction of a highway that connects Campeche to the city of Mérida.

Then, in the 1990s, excavations conducted during the expansion of that highway uncovered the remains of two palace-type buildings.

The latest discovery of the ceramic dish at the site came during prospecting and salvage on a section of the Tren Maya project. This is an almost 1,000-mile-long intercity railway, scheduled to start operating in December 2023, that traverses Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula—the heart of the ancient Maya civilization, which is rich in antiquities.

A Thought for Today

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”

From Ten Inspiring Quotes From Henry David Thoreau’s Walden

I Am sorry I wasn’t on yesterday but I wasn’t feeling very good. Today I am a little better but in a mental and emotion  turmoil over something happening in one of my children’s lives so I will do posts I feel comfortable with, with the energy I have rolling around inside and out.

UGH…I Guess this just Isn’t my Day

Our part of town is in a brown out, meaning the amount of electronic we can have on is minimal, until 8 PM CT. So I will get the rest if Thursday’s regular posts up in the morning and hopefully Friday’s as well. As I write this on my cell/mobile phone our heat index is 119⁰ F (sorry I don’t know C temp except damn hot). Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter. Now I know for someplace these are normal summer temperatures but not for where I live in central Illinois, USA.

Remember to drink extra water and sports types drinks. While staying away from those with a lot of sugar or caffeine. Check on elderly neighbors, friends, and relatives as often as you can daily.

A Quick Word About Thursday’s Posts

My right-hand witch, Graphia, and her 2 daughters are in a dangerous home situation crisis for which I had to call an emergency coven meeting in a couple of hours. Unfortunately, that means I probably won’t get all of the tomorrow, Thursday’s posts done for today and they will have to go up tomorrow. Right now, I am, as an old friend would say, trying to stuff 10 pounds of shit in a 5-pound bag. Getting up to hours later than I wanted to did not help either. All I can do is my best at this moment in time without sending myself into more of an anxiety attack than I am in right now.

If you could be so kind as to send protection for all three of them, I know she and I would greatly appreciate it. If you want her daughter’s names, please email me at ladybeltane@witchesofthecraft.com. As they are minors and young just developing witches, I do not feel comfortable putting their names here where anyone in the world could see them and possibly do them harm instead of good. I am overly cautious with things like this because I personally receive at least 1 threating email including death threats once a week. Don’t worry I have very solid protection around myself, home, Big Dwag and our 3 fur kids at all times. I have a dome over our home that at night will wake me from a sound sleep if any human crosses through its perimeter. I will be sharing how to make one in next week’s Patreon Weekly Spell and All In One Tiers.

Anyone out there reading and an empath or may not even an empath can probably feel my nervous, chaotic energy while writing this. I will be back this afternoon sometime to do the tomorrow posts after the coven gathering which will let me calm down quite a bit as I will know they are even more protected from their abuser/tormentor. I am sorry if this post repeats itself or doesn’t make sense.

Sacred Symbols and The Witch Next Door

Author Unknow

It’s Tuesday at five o’clock. I punch out, lock up my desk, and leave the dreaded office for the evening. As I walk out of the side door, I imagine that I’m going through one of those automatic car washes, and the brushes and water are removing the day’s stresses and negativity from me (I’m a title clerk at a car dealership, and as you can imagine, dealing with the DMV every day tends to build up negativity). By the time I get to my car, I’m feeling good, stress free and ready for the evening. I look up and see another Carolina thunderstorm rolling in. It’s going to be a 30-minute drive in the rain, and that makes me smile.

By the time I meander my way out of the parking lot, the rains have started. I roll down my window and stick my hand out. As I drive down the street, going with the flow at 45 mph, I feel the bite on my palms and wrists. Like thousands of needles, the drops seem to pierce my skin, infusing me with the energy of Water and Wind. My entire left side is soaked, and I don’t seem to mind. The family in the mini-van next to me stares slack-jawed, thinking me to be insane. I feel sorry for them. If they only knew how good this feels, how cleansing it is, their heads would hang out of the windows of the van like Labradors. I turn into the parking lot of the grocery store to pick up something for cakes and ale tonight. The rain is coming down in sheets. Thunder cracks and rumbles, making the ground shake. Lightning strikes are everywhere. A handful of people run to their cars, holding a few grocery bags and covering their large heads with thin arms to shield themselves. I have the sudden urge to strip naked, arms out in childlike joy, and dance in deformed circles throughout the parking lot until I’m dizzy and fall into a puddle, laughing. The only thing stopping me is the patrol car parked nearby, with the cop inside catching up on his paperwork. I stroll leisurely into the store and pass a small group of old southern women staring at me as they huddle just behind the automatic doors waiting for the storm to subside. One of them tells me that I’ll get sick from that, and that I should have at least tried to hurry into the store where it’s dry. I look at her and say, “Water is a sacred symbol. I am Cleansed and Purified by the Mother.”

When I’ve finished my transaction and head out of the store, the rain has slowed to barely more than a drizzle. As I turn out of the parking lot, it has stopped all together. Again, I’ve rolled down my window and stuck my arm out; now it’s just the Air that I feel on my skin. I inhale the crisp smells only detected after a storm. My lungs expand, and I feel the butterflies in my stomach. That smell always seems to rejuvenate me. I pull into my driveway, turn off the car and go inside. I put the cakes and ale in the refrigerator, then head straight for the back door. On my deck, I sit and enjoy the rolling hills and farmland behind my house. The smell of the after rain still clings to the Air. I breathe deeply and close my eyes. I feel at one with the Air, with the sky. A light breeze kisses my face. As the breeze kicks up, it wraps around me, a swirling blanket of the Gods. I am given the gift of the East, Air as its symbol, and I take that with me back into the house.

The rest of the coven arrives. I change into my robes and we go into the altar room to set up. I lead them through the chants and the worship, we dine on the cakes and ale, and we meditate briefly before opening circle. After ritual, we sit and catch up on what’s going on in each other’s lives. We laugh, we talk, and we laugh some more. By 9:30 they show themselves out, and I return to the altar room. I light all of the candles once again and stare into the flame of one of my altar candles. I feel my spirit disconnect from my physical body. I enter a trance, and am lost in the awesome power of the Fire. My mind becomes one with the dancing flame and images flood my head. Insights are gained, wisdoms etched into my psyche to forever become a part of me. My education continues, with the Lord and Lady my teachers. The Fire is a symbol of my knowledge. My passion swells as I strive to learn everything…to know…to be. I become aware that I’ve hit the climax of my trance and feel the cycling down, the beginning of the end of the controlled burn. The images slow, and I am once again aware that it is a candle at which I stare. I thank the Gods for bestowing the gnosis upon me, and carefully extinguish the flame.

I am unaware of the time, and do not care to know. I need to ground myself, but rather than do it inside, I instead choose to take our offerings from ritual and bury it outside in the Earth. In the backyard, I find a small, rich patch of soil. Most of the yard is clay, except for here. I dig deeper than needed. Halfway down I toss aside my trowel, electing instead to feel the Earth in my bare hands. As I dig I allow the energies raised within me to pour down into the Earth. The smell of the grass and weeds and dirt permeate me. I feel calm and relaxed, bathed in the glow of the full moon. Carefully I scrape the offering off of the dish. I close my eyes and feel good, knowing that however small it is, this gift of thanks to the Gods will decompose, and what grows in this spot will receive some extra nutrition. All returns to the Earth in good time. I repack the hole I’ve dug and remain on my knees for a few more minutes. The Earth, our symbol of life, our living organism.

These are the most sacred of symbols, the Elements. Water, Air, Fire and Earth all connect us to the Spirit. I stand up slowly, beginning to feel the effects of exhaustion. I turn my head to the right and see a neighbor peeking out the blinds at me. I think to myself that I’m doing nothing strange here, yet tomorrow morning I’ll be the block’s topic of conversation. A Mona Lisa smile crosses my lips as I wave to her and she quickly moves away from the window. I go back into the house, knowing that I’m just the everyday Witch next door.

Spell for Tuesday

(YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE ANY COROSPONDENCES AND SPELLS POSTED TO A DOCUMENT TO PRINT AND/OR SAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER)

Open the Third Eye

This is one psychic spell you really have to do on a Monday to harness the power of the moon.

  • A piece of moonstone or aquamarine
  • Purple marker or paint
  • A cup of clean water

The day before you want to perform the spell, drop the stone into the water and leave it on your altar until you are ready. Monday night, find a quiet and peaceful place to do the rest of this psychic spell.

Take the piece of crystal and hold it to your forehead, and visualize your third eye opening when you do. Picture the crystal as a magnet, pulling in energy for you.

Set the stone back down and draw an eye on your forehead in the same place with the purple ink (need I say it should be a washable product?). Let the ink dry, and continue your visualizing to open up that eye. Hold the moonstone to the eye you drew, and repeat several times:

Open the sight,

With moon light

Drink the cup of water that had held the crystal, and repeat the chant again. Sleep with the eye still on your forehead, and don’t wash it off until you have to. Chances are, that will mean the next morning before work or school, but if you are lucky enough to not have to worry about that, leave it in place for added power. You should soon start to feel new psychic abilities start to waken up.

Some Humor for Your Day

I am sorry there are only a couple of the daily posts and tomorrow will be done tomorrow. I was up over 24 hours between yesterdays and this morning when I finally could fall asleep at almost 8 AM CDT I slept until about an hour ago. With the heat index going to be over 100 F most of this week I am going to try to make sure the daily and birthday horoscopes along with the current moon phase and northern hemisphere’s planetary positions get up for each day. As for the rest of the regular daily posts it’s anybody’s guess that my computer won’t act up because of brown outs. I will be checking all emails tomorrow along with sending out lessons to any of my apprentices that are waiting for one.

If you live in an area that is affected by this current heat wave, try to stay cool, drink plenty of non-carbonate and caffeine free fluids. Check on elderly family and neighbors to make sure they are all right.

Monday’s Posts Will be Up Later Today

We are in another heat wave with heat index temperatures going over 100⁰F through the evening. So, are experiencing brown outs again and the humidity is terrible for my asthma. Right now I’m trying to get up enough physical energy to move but my body is screaming for a nap. As I haven’t been sleeping the nap is going to win…lol

I will get the tomorrow posts up sometime later. Thanks for understanding!

If you live in an area experiencing this heat wave remember to drink plenty of water, try to stay away from sugary, caffinated drinks as they can help dehydrate you.
