The Witches Magick for the 14th day of the Barley Moon – Cyclone Clearing Spell

Native American Comments & Graphics

Cyclone Clearing Spell

(Barley Moon)

Cast this spell to clear the negativity out of your home, as well as encourage positive energies into your space.

At midnight, light a sage smudge stick and smudge your home thoroughly. Use a fireproof bowl or pan to catch any burning ash that may drop from the smudge stick. Now, fully extinguish the smudge. Take a few minutes and merge with the divine. In your mind’s eye imagine a cyclone spinning counterclockwise, awash with cobalt blue energy, hovering above you. Build the cyclone up with your intention and deep breathing. Send the cyclone around your home, in a counterclockwise direction, to clear out any negative, disruptive, or chaotic energies. Actually see the cyclone pulling the negativity up and out of your home. As you do this, chant loudly:

“Negative energies get out, begone now and forevermore.”

Imagine the cyclone diving beneath your home and pulling any negativity out from that area. Once you have cleared out the negative energy, see the cyclone spinning up and out of your home and into the night sky. Repeat this process three times.

When you are done, merge with the God and Goddess. Then spin slowly in a clockwise circle and imagine bright white light shooting out from your outstretched palms and filling your home with its divine power. Say nine times:

“May the divine power of love, hope and peace fill my home, now and forevermore. So be it! Blessed be!”

Let’s Talk Witch – Color Magic

Native American Comments & Graphics

Let’s Talk Witch – COLOR MAGIC

We all use and make decisions about color in our daily lives— what colors we wear, which paints we use, the cars we drive, the food we eat, even the shampoos we buy. A whole host of decisions we make every day are at least partly decided by color. Most people have a favorite color. Mine is purple, and most of my home is decorated in shades of this color. Even my cloak is a beautiful shade of heather. It is a color that I am comfortable with. You will have your own favorite shade that features prominently in your life— and hopefully you have an understanding partner if your favorite color is acid green or Barbie pink!

The use of color can really enhance your magic and spell work, because each color lends its own energy and its associations to your spells and rituals. There are many ways to include color magic in your work— from candle magic to knot magic, from spell bags to plant magic. In fact, all of your magic will be greatly enhanced by your own knowledge of which colors work in which ways. I believe that there is no right or wrong color chart; what works for one will not necessarily work for all. If a certain color means a certain thing to you, who’s to say that you’re wrong and some impersonal chart is right? For example, when you think of the Goddess, do you see her as white? Silver? Gold? Blue? Who’s to tell you which is the right color?

The right color is the one with which you feel confident and comfortable working. And the right colors are the ones you can remember. If you want to create a spell spontaneously, you don’t want to have to go looking for a color-correspondence chart to find out which color works in a certain way. You have to trust what’s in your heart and work in a way that is true to you. I suggest you create your own color chart in your Book of Shadows. Spend some time thinking about what each color evokes for you and write it down. If you need some guidelines, below is the basic list I use in my own magic. Maybe it will give you a starting point or help you add to your own list. If you already work with color, trying exploring some of the more intricate shades of each color to expand your catalog.

White: protection and purity; use in all magick as a universal color
Black: to absorb negativity and spirit contact; for banishing spells
Yellow: confidence and growth; for harmony spells
Red: strength and passion; for power spells
Blue: health and patience; for awareness spells
Purple: peace and meditation; for blessing and spells
Pink: relaxation and friendship; for love spells
Green: nature and Fae magic; for wealth
Brown: earth and animals; for grounding spells
Orange: luck and vitality; for strength spells
Silver: the Goddess and the moon; for balance spells
Gold: the God and the sun; for power spells

Every color, of course, has varying shades— from pastel to deep or bright. Make your list as simple or as complicated as you like. A good way to build your own list is to have someone read off colors to you and you say the first thing that comes into your head that you associate with each color. That way, you will know that you are working with what’s true to your heart and with something that you will remember.

The ways in which you can use color in your magic are as varied as the colors themselves. Once you have your own color chart, there are many ways to incorporate each color into your magickal workings.

Waxing Moon Resolution Spell

Native American Comments & Graphics

Waxing Moon Resolution Spell

Sometimes, we have resolved to do something or stick to a regime, our resolution wavers. This spell will help strengthen it.

You will need:
A purple candle
White thread

Start by winding the cotton three times deosil (clockwise) around the candle, about a third of the way down. As you do so, focus your breathing, taking deep breaths in and out. On the third wrap of the cotton take a deep breath in and hold it for a count of six. Visualize yourself being surrounded in purple light to give you strength.

When you are ready, light the candle and focus on the flame. As you do so, ask out loud for strength in your resolve and help with keeping your focus on the task. End with the words ‘and harm to none, so mote it be.’

The Wicca Book of Days for Monday, September 14th

A Holy Harvest

The exaulation of the Holy Cross, or the Triumph of the Cross, is celebrated by many Christians on September 14, commemorating the dedication, on this date in 335, of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem that housed the cross upon which Christ was crucified. In England, September 14 was more commonly called Holy Cross Day, or Holy Rood Day, or more irreverently still, the Day of the Holy Nut,, for this was the traditional date of which nutting, or the harvesting of nuts, began, occasioning a day off and much outdoor frolicking on the part of young men and women.

An Occult Philosopher

September 14 was the date of birth of Henry Cornelius Agrippa (1489 – 1535), a German occultist who wrote De Occultra Philosophia Libri Tres (1531), or Three Books of Occult Philosophy. The first volume, Natural Magic, is especially inspiring for Wiccans.

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Native American Comments & Graphics

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Time and Again

Time goes by,
So fast, so slow;
Just as the phases
Of the bright moon’s glow.
Time goes by,
So fast, so slow;
We plant a seed,
And watch it grow.
Time goes by,
So fast, so slow;
The magic moves
Through energy’s flow.
Time goes by,
So fast, so slow;
The Goddess is alive
As we all know.
Time goes by,
So fast, so slow;
Love warms our hearts
As the cool winds blow.
Time goes by
So fast, so slow;
The Priestess chants
“As above, so below.”
Time goes by….

“THINK on THESE THINGS” for September 13th

“THINK on THESE THINGS”
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

There is much to be said of small things. Even in this age of emphasis on bigness we must realize that bigness is only a mass of small things. An idea is a small thing. With it we can change our world. We can take a tiny seed and give it careful attention and reap a hundred fold. We can take a little idea and give it our attention and build it into a fortune.

A smile is a small thing. Smile once at someone in passing and three will return the smile. Smiling is so contagious that it moves from person to person until a hundred smiling faces are the result of one.

A thought is a small thing. One thought inspires another and another until a mental image is formed. From that mental image blueprints are drawn. And from those blueprints worlds are built.

Hope is a small thing. One tiny glimmer of hope can lift us out of the deepest pit of darkness. One whisper of encouragement will help us to know that as long as there’s hope there is an excellent chance.

A wish is a small thing. Like a little prayer, it climbs the steps to an idea that makes a smile and gives us hope to make our wishes come true. For in small things are all great things formed, in little beginnings the possibilities of great events.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 13

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 13

“The most important thing you can do during the course of the day is to pray.”

–Joe Coyhis, STOCKBRIDGE-MUNSEE

There are many things we do during the day that are important. There are many places we have to go and there are many things to accomplish. The old ones say, the most important thing we can do is remember to take the time to pray. We should pray every morning and every evening. In this way we can be sure that the Great Spirit is running our lives. With the Great Spirit we are everything but without Him we are nothing. All Warriors know their greatest weapon is prayer. To spend time talking to the Creator is a great honor.

Great Spirit, thank You for listening to my prayers.

September 13 – Daily Feast

September 13 – Daily Feast

It is good to keep the promises we make to ourselves to enjoy a peaceful hour. How long has it been? How long has it been since we walked on a grassy hillside and watched the shadows hover and move? Walking is good for the legs – but it does wonders for the soul. The autumn season is one of the best times to walk and think. There is a rhythm in the earth that rises into our feet when we walk. In it is the healing and it centers the soul so that the cares of the world cannot get in to destroy peace. And peace has so many side effects. It restores youth and gives perspective to a world-weary mind.

Daily Motivator for September 13th – Opportunity to create love

Opportunity to create love

Today is an opportunity to create love. Today is an opportunity to care, and to put your caring into action.

You do not need permission, or any special skills or resources, to make a loving difference. All you have to be, is to be yourself, and to be willing.

Life is good for you to the extent you choose to give of yourself to it. Enjoy the opportunity that today gives you to give your best, to give your love.

Life is good, and you can add to the goodness in your own special ways. Right now, enjoy the experience of being a positive influence.

You will never regret the love you create. Even when the love you give is not recognized or appreciated by others, your life will be richer for having given it.

This day brings moments you can fill with whatever you choose. Fill them with love, and you’ll fill them as full as they can possibly be.

The Daily OM for September 13th – Healing Emotional Pain

Healing Emotional Pain
The Hidden Pain That Binds Us

by Madisyn Taylor

Healing our emotional pain will bring strong feelings of peace and happiness.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the month of September, a transition month for many of us as summer moves closer to autumn and children head back to school. September has always been a month of great transition. It’s almost as though it gives us permission to face our workload and get back into a routine.

This month I want to focus on the topic of emotional healing. Most of my work with DailyOM is about this topic as it is so very needed within humanity. It also scares many people away because nobody really finds enjoyment in diving through their own layers of emotional pain. I think by now most of you know that I never ask anything from you that I don’t go through personally myself. This core tenet is the basis of my work, which is to share my experience and thoughts so that others know they are not alone on their path.

Healing your emotional pain can bring the greatest rewards in your life, bringing you a sense of lightness and freedom. Some pain can be dropped quickly and some can take years to fully release. There really is no right or wrong, and there certainly is no timetable involved. Some of you know that just last year I was able to fully release the pain my father caused me growing up. It took me 20 years after his death to get to that place of peace, and it feels really good to know that it is authentic healing that came from hard work and a bit of grace.

If you are interested in healing your emotional pain, here are some online courses we offer that can assist you greatly.

Overcoming Self-Sabotage by Debbie Ford. This amazing eight-week online course is consistently one of our best-selling courses for a good reason—it works! Receive powerful lessons every four days, including an audio guided meditation with each lesson. more info

Letting Go with Forgiveness by Ana Holub. This eight-week online course is based on information from A Course in Miracles, Radical Forgiveness, scientific research, and life lessons from Ana from her years of counseling. more info

How to Create Happiness by Deepak Chopra & Sonja Lyubomirsky. This 14-week online course is divided into two parts. Part one is composed of seven lessons by Deepak Chopra, and part two is composed of lessons by Sonja Lyubomirsky. Deepak teaches seven keys to joy and enlightenment, and Sonja teaches how to be happy! more info

Overcoming Fear by Debbie Ford. This eight-week online course includes a new lesson every four days, and an audio guided meditation with each lesson to help you directly access your inner wisdom. Learn to overcome fear, tune into the voice of fear, and choose faith and courage rather than fear. more info

I hope you have been enjoying these more personal monthly newsletters with our course offerings. It is so heartwarming to hear your feedback and learn of the ways that DailyOM has transformed your life. Thank you for reading and thank you for having the courage to be you.

Be well,

Madisyn Taylor
