Cosmic Tides: New Moon in Cancer

Cosmic Tides: New Moon in Cancer

Nurturing and Self Protection: New Moon in Cancer

We are having a New Moon in the sign of Cancer, exact (for me in California) on Wednesday, July 15th at about 6:30 pm Pacific Time*, but is active for three days starting today. Joining the Moon and the Sun are Mars, representing the masculine, aggressive and also protective energies, and Mercury which is all about communication and thinking. Cancer is an emotionally sensitive water sign. Thoughts and feelings will be up for release or recreation. This is especially true for men and masculine energy things mentioned above. Cancer is a “homemaker” sign. The theme of “Home” is highlighted now.

Mars does not feel strong while visiting the sign of Cancer. You might feel that your home, whatever that means to you, isn’t quite being protected.  our body is your home while in this incarnation. Do you feel safe? Are you sure that there’s not any way that your body can be threatened or invaded (physically, mentally or emotionally)? Though we say the phrase, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” the reality is that words can be very hurtful, if we let them in.

Read below for an exercise to help you create safety in your “home”.

Pluto

Opposite Mercury is Pluto, the guide through the underworld and shadow energy – the negative emotions and self sabotaging belief systems that we try to avoid looking at. Pluto also brings death, rebirth and transformation on a deep level.

On July 14th NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft is going to be flying its closest to Pluto and sending back pictures. This is unprecedented! There is a possibility that Pluto is bigger than we thought and it might regain its status as a planet again.

Here’s a cool article I found on USA Today. Check out the heart on Pluto!

Regardless of whether it is a planet or not, with the world putting its attention on to Pluto, we can’t help but expect that we will be shining some light into our “shadowy basements”.

All in all, a great time to look at(and change) our beliefs and thoughts about our safety, our self-nurturing and our home.

Smooth Energy

The Sun and the Moon (the New Moon) are also trine to Saturn in Scorpio, and to Chiron in Pisces. This is creating a Grand Trine ( it looks like an equilateral triangle on an astrology chart ) which will smooth out some of the challenging energy of this New Moon. Chiron, the wounded healer, insures that we will be able to heal ourselves during this time. With emotions running high, remember to stay in balance between expressing yourself and just dumping your feelings on other people. Don’t get pushed around, but don’t “shove” others either. Exercise compassion for yourself and others.

What’s up with Venus?

Venus is still conjunct to Jupiter in Leo, However she is about to move forward into Virgo, exploring her priestess potential. Venus is also conjunct the powerful star Regulus at about 1° of Virgo. Venus will only just “dip her toe” into the Virgo water because on July 25th she will turn retrograde, back into Leo to explore a little more of her sense of worth and lovability. To me, it feels like Venus is dancing around Regulus, forward, backward and then forward again.

To Summarize

We are experiencing transformation in our personal lives of the masculine and inner feminine. Also, our outer relationships are being tested, and either taken to the next level, or let go of, if they don’t work anymore. As I said before, compassion for yourself and others is key.

Creating Your Safe “Home”

Do this exercise without any “spiritually correct” filter.

Draw a large circle on a piece of paper and draw a slightly smaller circle inside it. The inner circle represents your Self. Write down all the things that you desire to have, to be, to do and to experience.  Include the things that support you to experience yourself as your Soul Self, the true you .  Also include the things that make you feel safe, nurtured and empowered.

Hint: The things inside the circle represent how you become the authority, and only authority, in your life. Anytime you feel resentment, this is your systems way of letting you know you are not following your own knowing and authority.

In the ring between the inner and outer circles, write down the things that you would be willing to experience if it leads you toward experiencing more love, more freedom and more You!  These are things that might feel challenging, but end up helping you to move forward in an expansive way. Also, include things that might be unexpected like reconnecting with an old friend.

Outside of the circles, write down the things that you do not choose to experience now. These things might happen outside of you, but they don’t get in side of you.  For instant, somebody might say unkind or hurtful words, but they do not impact you. They do not get inside of you and they do not affect you.

When you are done writing, turn the page over and move to another place. Literally move your body somewhere else. (Outside can be really good if you can get your feet to touch the ground and the sun is on your shoulders.) Otherwise, find a space that feels safe and nurturing to you.  take a few deep breaths, and focus on being here and now, in your body, in this life.  Connect with your greater self, your soul self. Click and then scroll down to listen to the Journey to Your Greater Self Guided Meditation.

Now go back to the paper. What do you know from your expanded vantage point that you didn’t know when you wrote the list originally? Notice if there are any parts of you that are in conflict or disagreement about what is on the list. What emotions come up when you read what you wrote? You may now make changes if you choose.

Write a title to this page, “Universe, this is what I choose to create and manifest now.”

You may refer back to this page to reinforce your changes and to check on your progress.  It is always great to look back and acknowledge what you have done.

* Check your time at the World Clock.

Cosmic Weather – New Moon Report for 7/15/15

The Reframe. The Release. The Return to Essence.

Hello Cosmic friends and welcome to another new moon. This one’s got quite a bit going on and of course I’ll tell you why. It’s been speaking to me for awhile now and I’ve been listening.

I know the watery (6 planets in water) astrological landscape has some people running for cover, but there really isn’t reason for alarm. This new moon provides us with a excellent spiritual opportunity. Remember dear ones, that Cancer is the great natural psychotherapist. On New Moon day we will have Mars, Mercury, Sun and Moon in that particular sign energy. The Shadow energy being cranky, overly sensitive and defensive. Also, using humor as sarcasm and attack, “I was only joking.” The light side being highly intuitive, healing, attentive and nurturing. It is the sign of the Lunar Goddess and the Divine Mother.

In Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) there is a technique called “Reframing,” that I feel is very appropriate here. To “Reframe” something is to put it into another context, setting or frame. Common subjects for reframing are often related to past traumas and current emotional triggers that may or may not be related to the past, but that are causing current difficulty.

In research for my upcoming book, “The Aquarian Healer,” I’ve been exploring the idea of soul archetypal energy and wounding. I have found (especially among those who identify as Empathic and/or Lightworkers,) there are 4 primary personal themes around wounding: Abandonment, Betrayal, Lack and Rejection. I’ve been sharing with you at this page how potent and colorful our dream life has been lately, often providing clues to what the Universe is spotlighting for our healing at the moment.

What’s also interesting about this New Moon is that it also carries some Full Moon qualities of Release. This I feel is vital to the “essence” aspect of it: to fill ourselves back up with our own divine essence after we have done the work of honest psychological examination. It also brings the important reminder that no matter what our background or circumstances were or currently are, we have the power to change our reality. We have the opportunity to “reframe” things working with the current energies available to us if we so choose.

“There are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand. The cards were stacked against them. They weren’t born in Lotusland. You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice. If you chose not to decide, you still have made a choice. You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill. I will choose a path that’s clear. I will choose freewill.” ~ Neal Peart, 1980

This new moon window is a perfect opportunity to stop viewing your personal circumstances as tragic or unfair, but more along the lines of the perfect training for you to complete your human mission and soul’s agreement. – The Keepers, 7.13.15

Happy New Moon friends and remember to keep it Cosmic!

NOTE: New Moon in Cancer is 7/15/15 at 6:24 pm PDT/9:24 EDT.

The Witches Magick for the 15th day of the Mead Moon – New Moon Flower Spell

Moon & Witch Comments & Graphics

NEW MOON FLOWER SPELL

D. H. Lawrence (1885– 1930) wrote “New Moon” about the beautiful new moon. It reads, “The new moon, of no importance, lingers behind as the yellow sun glares, and is gone beyond the sea’s edge; earth smokes blue; the new moon, in cool height above the blushes, brings a fresh fragrance of heaven to our senses.” In this spell, you will use the power of the new moon to send healing light to someone in need.

You will need a bouquet of fresh flowers to cast this spell.

At dusk, set the bouquet of flowers in front of you. Take a few deep breaths to center your awareness. Turn your attention to the flowers. Look at them in a new way. Imagine the flower faeries, the divine spirits, that inhabit the flowers in front of you. These faeries may look like winged beings, tiny white, pink, gold, blue, or green spheres or dots of light, or they may look like large elven-like beings that seem to flow from the flowers themselves. You may actually see the faeries, or you may sense them in another way. Just keep breathing deeply and turning your awareness toward the flower faeries.

Now imagine the person to whom you want to send the flower faery healing light. Say:

May this healing light fill [say the person’s name].

So be it! Blessed be!

Ask the flower faeries to fly to that person and fill her or him with all of their healing blessings. Take a deep and complete breath, and as you exhale, actually imagine them all flying to, and filling the person with divine healing light. Keep using your breath to move more and more healing flower faery light to the person. Do this for at least five minutes. Keep focusing on the flower faeries and sending their healing energy to the person.

Celebrating Other Spirituality 365 Days a Year – Travectio Equitum/Rowana

Moon & Witch Comments & Graphics

July 15

Travectio Equitum/Rowana

In ancient Rome, this was the parade of the cavalry in front of the temple of Castor and Pollux, the great Twin Horsemen, men, to thank them for their part in the victory of Lake Regillus in 496 B.c. The parade consisted of 5,000 riders wearing purple togas with red stripes and decorated with olive garlands.

This day is sacred to the Goddess of the rowan tree, Rowana-patroness of the secret knowledge of runes. The wood of the rowan tree is used for making protection amulets, and the wood is especially efficacious when cut on this day.

Wednesday Is Ruled By Mercury

Wednesdays are wild and wacky days. They are for communication, change, cunning, and the arts. This is a Mercury day, and just its patron god this day is full of contradictions, change, and excitement. Some suggestions for Wednesday enchantments would include:

Pulling a little Wednesday color magic into your life by wearing purples or orange

Carrying a multipurpose agate with you and tapping into its various charms

Working with magical plants such as the fern for protection. This plant will also boost the power of any other magical plants with which it is arranged.

Incorporating lavender into charms and spells for transformation

Using the charming scent of lily of the valley to improve your memory, or working with the aspen tree for communication

Calling on Athena, patron of arts and crafts, for inspiration for a new project

Fanning out a Tarot spell to increase you creativity

Calling on Hermes on a Wednesday night to bring movement and good luck into your life

Seasons of the Witch – Legends and Lore, Ancient Holidays And Some Not So Ancient!

Today Is …

Day of Rauni, Finnish Goddess of the Rowan Tree. Find a Rowan tree (Mountain Ash) or any tree/bush with red berries and ask the tree permission to make yourself a crown of it’s leaves.

The birth of the God Set (or Seth) is celebrated by many pagans. Set is an ancient God of Darkness and the Magickal arts.

In China, this day is sacred to Ti-Tsang, the rule of the dark Underworld. He is honored with an annual Festival of the Dead.

St Swithin’s Day – St Swithin was an early Saxon Bishop of Winchester. On his death bed, he asked to be buried among the poor in the common churchyard, but later, after many miracles at his gravesite, the monks moved his body inside to a splendid shrine, whereupon the saint wept in protest, causing a continuous downpour for forty days. Thus he came to be associated with weather charms like this:

St Swithin’s Day, if it does rain

Full forty days, it will remain

St Swithin’s Day, if it be fair

For forty days, twill rain no more

Rain on St Swithin’s Day blesses the apples which should not be picked or eaten before his feast. All apples growing at this time will ripen. Kightly, Charles, The Perpetual Almanack of Folklore, Thames & Hudson 1987

Gorestnici, Fire Festival – July was called the “hot month” in Bulgaria, partly because the people celebrated a fire festival of three days duration beginning on the 15th. Nilsson, Martin P, Primitive Time Reckoning, Oxford University Press 1920

New Moon Lucky Charm

One of the easiest charms to use for luck is a hag stone (stone with a hole in it). These are found on many beaches and river beds. Leave the stone out on the night of a Waxing Moon, then thread a piece of green ribbon or cord through the hole and weat it as a pendant or hand it from your handbag, your altar or in your car to bring you good luck.

While smudging of self and home is use by a lot of Neo-Pagans now, it originally was a Native American cleansing ritual they used before entering their sacred circle, sweat lodges and other religious ceremonies.

New Moon Spell – Write Your Own Check

I like to write a check to myself on the New Moon. I make it out to myself and write “paid in full” in the amount box, then sign it from “the law of abundance.” I fold the check into three and add three drops of peppermint essential oil on top after laying it in the bottom of a dish I keep on my altar, and then I sprinkle over it dried mint and lay three sticks of cinnamon on top. This works really well to keep enough money coming in.

At the very first sign of the Moon, just the slightest glimpse of her, stand outside and look up. Turn around deosil (sunwise or clockwise) three times and make a wish on the New Moon.

New Moon

We consider it to be the New Moon up to 3 1/2 days after the official New Moon. She rises around dawn, sets around sunset. Because she is between the Sun and the Earth nothing or very little is reflected and for a few days the Moon is lost in the brillance of the Sun. When we cannot see any Moon in the sky, after the Waning Moon and before we see the first glimpse of the Crescent it is often referred to as the Dark Moon.

As the Sun and Moon are on the same side of the Earth, the pull on us is the strongest. Because the Sun, Moon and Earth are all in a straight line this creates a time when the high tide is higher and the low tide is lower than usual.

This is a wonderful time to make new beginnings of all types. It is especially good for getting rid of bad habits. Habitual ways of thinking that are harmful and negative can also be abandoned at this time. It is also a good time to start something creative. New projects at work can also be launched.

The first day of the New Moon is really best devoted to the planning stages of ventures. It is good to feel just a little excited and filled with anticipation, although your energy may not be at its highest. A day or two into the cycle is the time to take the initiative, apply for that job, and start house hunting or any similar endeavours. It is also good for attracting positive energies, bringing about change, good luck and growth.

Daily Magickal Applications for Wednesday

To the Romans, this day was called Dies Mercurii, or “Mercury’s day” Mercury was a popular character in the Roman pantheon. A messenger of the gods, he presided over commerce, trade, and anything that required skill or dexterity. The Celts also worshiped Mercury and eventually equated him with the Norse god Odin (some spelling variations on this name include Wotan, Wodin, and Wodan). In Norse mythologies, Odin, like Mercury, is associated with poetry and music. Interestingly enough, both Odin and Mercury were regarded as psychopomps, or the leaders of souls, in their individual mythologies.

Odin, one of the main gods in Norse mythology, was constantly seeking wisdom. He traveled the world in disguise as a one-eyed man with a long gray beard, wearing an old, beat-up hat and carrying a staff or a spear (which brings to my mind images of Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings). In the Old English language, this day of Mercury evolved into Wodnes daeg, “Woden’s day,” or Wednesday.

Wednesday carries all of the planetary and magickal energies and associations of the witty and nimble god Mercury himself. Some of these mercurial traits included good communication skills, cleverness, intelligence, creativity, business sense, writing, artistic talent, trickiness, and thievery. And don’t forget all of those wise and enigmatic qualities associated with the Norse god Odin/Wodin, not to mention the goddess Athena’s contributions of music, the arts, handmade crafts, and writing. Wednesdays afford excellent opportunities for seeking wisdom, changing your circumstances, and improving your skills, be they in trade and commerce, music and art, or in communication and writing.
