Moon Alert

After 2:45 AM EST today, there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in Pisces.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

In a curious combination of planetary events, you are rather public right now. In fact, you look good in the eyes of other people! Nevertheless, today, despite being high viz. – you want to “hide.” You will prefer to work alone or behind the scenes. Avoid arguments with daily contacts.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

A meaningful discussion with a female colleague or companion might take place today, especially about politics, religion or racial issues. This person might also be from another culture. Avoid disputes about money and possessions, which might arise. Stay chill.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You are noticed today! For the most part, this is a favourable thing. Furthermore, people seem to know details about your life. Be careful not to fly off the handle or have a knee-jerk reaction with bosses, parents or someone in authority because this will not benefit you.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Today has some irritations. In fact, you may get into a dispute about something controversial like politics, religion or racial issues. Nevertheless, the Moon in Pisces is favourable to you because Pisces and Cancer are both Water Signs. Go with what works! Be grateful for small mercies.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Avoid disputes about inheritances, insurance matters or shared property today because they will only destroy your peace of mind; and probably nothing will change. Mercury is virtually retrograde opposite your sign, which means you can deal skilfully with past issues.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Your ruler Mercury is “slowing down”. (Mercury always moves forward but relative to Earth it sometimes appears to go backwards.) Technically, Mercury will go retrograde on the 29th, but it is already “frozen”. This is your chance to wrap up old business, especially related to kids and the entertainment world.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a good day to take care of business, especially if you have to perform a service for someone or work on someone else’s behalf. You might also explore something that benefits your health. Keep an open mind and avoid disputes with others. (Arguments upset you.)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Accept invitations to lunch, coffee or Happy Hour where you can socialize with others because today, the Moon is in a fun-loving part of your chart. Admittedly, some tension might arise. Perhaps a dispute with someone about an old issue? Nevertheless, enjoy yourself!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You’ll be happy to cocoon at home today if you have a chance. You need to catch your breath and take a rest. Be as tactful as possible dealing with female relatives, especially Mom, because disputes can easily arise. You don’t need this. You need mellow.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You have a strong need to communicate because you want to enlighten someone about something today. This is all well and good; however, avoid arguments, especially with coworkers. Everything is going your way because four planets are in your sign. Therefore, relax! You have the winning hand.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Financial matters will be your primary concern today because the Moon is in your Money House. You might have moneymaking ideas? You might examine how you spend your money? Avoid arguments with kids or friends about the cost of a social occasion. You might have to suck it up.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Today the Moon is in your sign, which will heighten your emotions and responses to others. Try to stay cool. On the upside, it will slightly improve your good luck. You can test this perhaps, by asking the universe for a favour? Who knows?

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actress Olivia Cooke (1993) shares your birthday today. You are reliable, patient and cooperative. Nevertheless, you have a playful, impish side, which is why you like to express your individuality, often in a bold way. This year is the last year of a nine-year cycle for you, which means it’s time to let go of things or people that are holding you back. Be courageous.

Weekly Horoscope Sunday, December 25 to Saturday, December 31, 2022

All Signs

This week Mercury goes retrograde, which means 2022 ends with this influence and 2023 begins with Mercury retrograde as well. The last time this happened was in the year ending in 2016, and before that in 2009. This week will be a time of reflection and contemplation. We will look back at the turmoil and challenges we have survived. Although this might introduce a melancholic note, it’s actually an opportunity to do an emotional and intellectual cleanse. It’s the ideal time to put things in perspective. We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are. When I look back through the years – I realize I was shorter and I weighed less.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This week you will think more about your relationships with your parents and bosses and the authority figures in your past. You might also think about the dreams you had for your life direction and where you wanted to head. You will see goals that you achieved and some that you didn’t. You might feel thoughtful about where you are now at this stage in your life. Nevertheless, you are ending this year, and beginning the new year, with lucky Jupiter in your sign, which is something that can happen only once every 12 years. This means this is a very fortunate transition for you. Instead of focusing on the past, focus on all the possibilities that lay ahead of you for your future. Jupiter in your sign is a great blessing.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

As this week progresses, and your year comes to an end, you might be in touch with people you went to school with before. You might also be in contact with people from previous travels. This is a powerful time for you because you are experiencing a time of harvest, a cycle that culminates only once every 30 years. You’re proud of your achievements. You also see where some goals did not materialize. Nevertheless, this is a time when many of your cherished dreams are coming true. Count your blessings. Around the time of your birthday in 2023, lucky Jupiter will return your sign again to stay until June 2024! This will bring you good fortune. (Mom always liked you best.)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Life has been a bit unusual for you lately because normally fiery Mars is in your sign for six weeks once every two years. However, this year it entered your sign in August and it’s still there! Furthermore, at the end of October, it went retrograde and it will stay retrograde until January 12, 2023. This is why you might feel you are spinning your wheels or slogging your way through quicksand. Fear not because when this retrograde influence ends (and it will end in January) you will feel like someone took off your training wheels. You will speed forth in happy anticipation, especially enjoying increased popularity with others.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Very likely, as this year ends, you will give a lot of thought to your closest relationships and partnerships – current ones and those from your past. Of course, more than most, you have an excellent memory and you enjoy savouring the past. In fact, ex-partners and old friends are probably back in your life this week, and in the beginning of the new year. While you can enjoy these bonds and connections (it’s enriching to have history with others); nevertheless, get ready for success! For the first time in 12 years, Jupiter is starting to move across the top of your chart. Let’s give it up for Cancer natives! (Applause).

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Many of you are still catching up on old details related to your job and your work. Others are focused on past issues related to your health and possibly a pet. You feel like you have a lot of unfinished business on your plate. Don’t let this cloud how your year ends and your new year begins. Life is constant change and revolving doors, and we always have dirty dishes in the sink. There is never a point where “everything is done.” That’s an illusion. Mercury retrograde has created delays in your work, which makes you feel you’re behind the eight ball. But you’re not. In fact, Mercury retrograde can help you tie up loose ends. Use this to your advantage.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Many of you are in contact with old flames as well as kids you might not have seen for a while. Some of you might also feel that creative projects have been mired in details and delays, which kept you spinning your wheels. Fear not! Your ambition has been stymied since late October – all the while that Mars has been retrograde at the top of your chart. You have not lost your focus and your drive. You have had to cope with detours and speed bumps. This will all be history in January. Enjoy fun times with others – children and loved ones while you can. Next year will bring a major turning point in your life.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

As this year come to an end, you will give a lot of thought to family issues that transpired this year. This is inevitable because Mercury is retrograde in that part of your chart. It will be a time of nostalgia. As such, you might be tempted to feel blame or regret. Don’t waste your time with these feelings because they are anti-productive, and they bring about no change or anything positive. There is no one alive today who doesn’t have regrets. Jupiter is now opposite your sign, which represents a culmination in your life. You will feel encouraged and want to go after everything you want. You’re entering an extremely productive and growth-oriented year. Be happy!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Christmas has been a joyful time; furthermore, you have had an unusual opportunity to be in touch with friends, siblings and relatives from your past you haven’t seen for a while. This is a big plus for you! Nevertheless, this particular Mercury retrograde also has you spinning your wheels. It’s been difficult to make daily plans. Delays, miscommunications and misunderstandings been frustrating and will continue this way until the middle of next month. Stay on course. Right now, your life is quite accelerated even though things are a bit haywire. It’s all going to come together. Trust me.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This year is ending with Mercury retrograde in one of your Money Houses. This is why cheques in the mail are late, and the delivery of money and goods that you have been expecting might be delayed. It’s also why financial deals are stuck in the mud or they require rethinking or renegotiating. This can be discouraging. Furthermore, Mars has been retrograde opposite your sign for several months! This has made relations with those who are closest to you more challenging. (You know these things.) The good news is these challenges and delays will be a thing of the past by the middle of next month. In turn, you can expect marvellous opportunities for vacations and chances to explore opportunities in the arts, the entertainment world and the hospitality industry. All that fun stuff!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You are ending this year with Mercury retrograde in your sign. Naturally, you will be involved with old friends and ex-partners you haven’t seen for a while. You’re also dealing with past issues that are frustrating, in part because your ability to deal with them seems to be stymied by miscommunications, misunderstandings and silly delays. Flip this around. Turn a 180. Instead, you can use this time to integrate everything from your past. Look at those failures and challenges and realize you’re moving on. You don’t need to be burdened by these things anymore. Be fearless about facing your dissatisfactions. Once you name them and acknowledge them, you can deal with them. Be like Groucho Marx: “Be gone! And never darken my towels again!”

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This year is ending with Mercury retrograde. Your new year is beginning with Mercury retrograde. This can be useful time for you. At this stage in your life, you are actually beginning a brave journey of reinventing yourself, whether you know this or not. The strongest way to have a fresh beginning is to know where you’ve been. Use this week to take stock. They say the highest value we can aspire to is “Know thyself.” This is exactly the opportunity you have. Take a look at where you have been because that is going to help you to figure out where you’re going. You’re creating a whole new world for yourself. Give yourself a map.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

It’s been a rewarding time for you recently because you have been in contact with old friends and members of old groups. This has been a reassuring, feel-good experience. Because you have a chance to do some reflection and think about the past, especially this past year, you will also rethink some of your goals. Many things that you expected when this year began changed dramatically! (Life has a way of doing that.) It’s important to know that you are finally leaving your journey through the Dark Night of the Soul. You survived! Now you can look forward to a year will you will get richer!

Kwanzaa – History Traditions and More December 26th to January 1st

Kwanzaa

First Fruits

Kwanzaa is a time for families and communities to come together to remember the past and to celebrate African American culture.

Created in 1966 by Maulana Ron Karenga, Kwanzaa is an African American and Pan-African holiday that celebrates history, values, family, community and culture. The ideas and concepts of Kwanzaa are expressed in the Swahili language, one of the most widely spoken languages in Africa. The seven principles which form its core were drawn from communitarian values found throughout the African continent. These principles are: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith). Kwanzaa gets its name from the Swahili phrase, “matunda ya kwanza” and is rooted in first fruit celebrations which are found in cultures throughout Africa both in ancient and modern times.

Today, he is thought of mainly as the jolly man in red who brings toys to good girls and boys on Christmas Eve, but his story stretches all the way back to the 3rd century, when Saint Nicholas walked the earth and became the patron saint of children. Find out more about the history of Santa Claus from his earliest origins to the shopping mall Santas of today, and discover how two New Yorkers—Clement Clark Moore and Thomas Nast—were major influences on the Santa Claus millions of children wait for each Christmas Eve.

The Legend of St. Nicholas: The Real Santa Claus

The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around A.D. 280 in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends. It is said that he gave away all of his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick. One of the best-known St. Nicholas stories is the time he saved three poor sisters from… Click here to read more of this article on history.com

In Keeping With Honoring Other Spiritual Paths Holidays – History of Christmas

Christmas is celebrated on December 25 and is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature. Christians celebrate Christmas Day as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion. Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. December 25—Christmas Day—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1870.

How Did Christmas Start?

The middle of winter has long been a time of celebration around the world. Centuries before the arrival of the man called Jesus, early Europeans celebrated light and birth in the darkest days of winter. Many peoples rejoiced during the winter solstice, when the worst of the winter was behind them and they could look forward to longer days and extended hours of sunlight.

In Scandinavia, the Norse celebrated Yule from December 21, the winter solstice, through January. In recognition of the return of the sun, fathers and sons would bring home large logs, which they would set on fire. The people would feast until… Click here to read the rest of this article on history.com

Some of the Witchcraft/Magickal Correspondence for Saturday

From learnreligions.com

It’s the end of the week for many of us, so Saturday—named for the god Saturn—is a good time to wrap things up. Associated with the colors black and dark purple, and the metal lead, this day is also connected to the goddess Hecate. Gemstones like Apache tear, obsidian, and hematite are all connected to Saturday’s magic, as are plants such as thyme, mullein, and the cypress tree.

When it comes to magical workings, focus on agriculture and creativity, fortune and hope, protection and banishment of negativity. Put up a barrier to keep the unwelcome out, eliminate the things that make you miserable, and wash your hands of anything other than your hopes, dreams, and goals.

Simple Fudge – Printable

This recipe comes from my life mate Big Dawg. It is so good and easy to make any time of year.

Simple Fudge

Ingredients:

1 – 14 ounce can of sweeten condensed milk

3 cups of Chocolate chips (or any flavor baking chip you would like to use)

Baking Pan (the size is your choice depending on how thick you want your fudge pieces)

Wax Paper

How to make it:

Pour sweeten condensed milk and chips into a microwave safe bowl. Stir well. Put in your microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, make sure all the chips are melted. Work fast for the rest of this recipe. Stir until well blended. Line baking pan with wax paper, make sure it comes up a little on the sides and/or the edges of the pan. Quickly pour and spread fudge in the baking pan. Refrigerate for 2 hours. (Important Side Note – The fudge is hard to cut after it is chilled, so I take it out about 1 1/2 hours and cut it if you want neat squares. But I found just breaking it into pieces works fine also.)

Moon Alert

After 3 AM EST today there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The New Moon in Capricorn is exact at 5:17 AM EST (2:17 AM PST).

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Today’s New Moon occurs at the top of your chart. Examine your attitudes to authority. Do they affect your work? This is also a good time to look at where you’re headed. Where do you want to be five years from now and what do you want to be doing?

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Today is a good day to take stock of your education. What further learning would enrich your life? What about travel? What are your thoughts about your belief systems? Thinking about this might help you understand your attitudes.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Today’s New Moon is the perfect day to look at your involvement with the financial resources of others. Is there a balance between your reliance on your own resources and your reliance on other people? How are you handling your debt? Are you in over your head, borrowing on tomorrow?

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Today is the perfect day to look at your expectations about committed relationships. What are your beliefs about committed relationships? For example, how would you finish this sentence? “Whenever I get involved in a relationship___.”

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is an excellent day to examine your attitudes to work. How do you work best? In your job, do you get by with doing as little as you can? Or do you find personal rewards in doing a job well? Take stock of your health today. Do you take care of your body?

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

The New Moon today is an excellent time to think about the role that romantic relationships play in your life. Likewise, creativity might not be something you worry about, but do you appreciate your creative talents? Your artistic talents can bring you pleasure.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Each New Moon is an opportunity to make resolutions. Today’s New Moon is time to think about your personal security. What makes you feel safe? How are your relations to family or parents? Do you try hard to conform to or defy your parents’ expectations?

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

What kind of communicator are you? Today’s New Moon is the best day all year to think about your style of communicating with others. Are you afraid to discuss your needs in case this will drive people away? If you don’t communicate, you cut yourself off from humanity.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This is an excellent day to take stock of your feelings and attitudes about money. If you believe that money is a root of all evil, you will unlikely seek it or hold on to it for very long. If you think, “Easy come, easy go,” then money will be coming and going.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Today is the only New Moon in your sign all year. Take personal inventory. What kind of first impression do you create on others? How do you come across? Think about how you carry yourself and how others regard you. How can you create a better impression?

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

The New Moon today falls in a hidden part of your chart, which means you have a chance to examine your repressed or secret emotions about things. What areas of your life are you the most self-defeating? Do you undermine your own best interests? (We all do.)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

This is the perfect day to inventory your hopes and wishes for the future. What exactly are they? What concrete steps are you taking to achieve them? Be specific or else they will be a cloudy vision rather than a tangible reality.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Pearl Jam lead singer and guitarist Eddie Vedder (1964) shares your birthday today. You are magnetic and charming. You have excellent communication skills. You are also focused and determined, which allows you to overcome challenges. Your personal freedom is important this year because you will undergo exciting changes. Make new friends. Travel is likely.
