Daily Horoscopes for Sunday, November 20th

We try to maintain our focus today with the discriminating Virgo Moon filtering out superfluous bits of information. But the dispersive quality of the Sun’s square to dreamy Neptune can turn precise thinking into fuzzy logic. Although this combination encourages our creative visions, it also tempts us with escapist behavior. Balancing fantasy with objective perceptions is easier once the Moon shifts into harmonious Libra at 8:16 pm EST.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

You may believe that your imagination can conjure up a wonderful future, but you could be misleading yourself today. It’s true that your fantasies might actually guide you along your way, but your intentions must be grounded in reality or they will remain as castles in the air. Although disappointment occurs if you set unrealistic goals, practical seeds should grow into the nourishing fruits of your labor.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

Someone might mislead you today, yet it could be your over-eagerness to reach your goals that steers you wrong. Perhaps you misinterpret a message you receive based upon what you want to believe. If the truth comes out, don’t waste time being discouraged. Instead, be thankful that you discovered what’s happening and make whatever adjustments are necessary to put yourself back on track.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

You could feel the stress that arises from trying to balance your playful nature with a more serious side of life today. For example, your attraction to a one-on-one partnership might conflict with your fear of being too vulnerable. Or, perhaps, your parenting skills may be challenged as dynamics at home go through unexpected changes. In any case, it’s helpful to acknowledge the truth and take the high road whenever possible.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Family matters are still a central focus now, even if your role at home has already undergone dramatic change. You could be taking yourself very seriously these days, but it feels as if your load is lighter today. Unexplored alternatives are being put in your path, but this still may not liberate you from previous obligations. Instead of worrying about what to do, express what’s in your heart — even if you don’t know where it will lead.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You may be facing an uncomfortable situation that has you wondering about the validity of your role at home or within your community. Don’t lose touch with your feelings, even if you are more analytical than usual when it comes to forming your conclusions now. Although your head and your heart might be in conflict, it’s still a wise idea to keep them in balance without favoring either one over the other.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

You may think that your life is heading in the right direction now that progressive Mars is in your sign. But you’re also aware that your foundations are built on your beliefs and, perhaps, they are not as firm as you would prefer. But don’t let fear convince you to hold on to your current assumptions just because what you know is more comforting than what you don’t yet understand. Embracing the unknown is scary at first, but it enables you to be open to the potential gains ahead.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You might be so moved by someone’s story that you have to avoid further conversation to prevent yourself from getting too emotional. Thankfully, your imagination isn’t restrained today by the facts alone; you’re able to envision a more positive scenario, allowing you to paint an optimistic picture instead of just passively responding to someone’s current problems. Be courageous and inspire others with your passionate dreams of change.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

It’s challenging to balance your desire for meaningful social interaction with other people’s preferences that you don’t take everything so seriously. Nevertheless, it isn’t just business as usual these days and you’re not interested in faking lightheartedness just to satisfy someone else’s needs. Don’t hesitate to say yes to an intriguing invitation if you think getting together with like-minded individuals might provide a safe container for interesting conversation.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

It’s difficult to know what’s real as your fantasies flood your imagination today. Ironically, others may not realize that you’re on a mental holiday because they see a more practical side of you that shows up to take care of business. Fortunately, it doesn’t require much effort to meet your obligations now, so you can continue to gain inspiration from your inner world while simultaneously making progress in your outer world.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Your self-doubt could quickly grow out of hand today if you believe that you’re not on the right path. However, you should be able to refocus your energy by drawing from your deep reserve of willpower. Be bold and imagine your future just as you want it to unfold. But don’t expect your dreams to become real unless you’re prepared to work hard and focus your attention on one simple task at a time.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Since you could spend time drifting in and out of your fantasies today, at least make a concerted effort to discern your hopeful dreams from what’s actually happening. It is a magical gift to be able to enhance reality with all your favorite colors, but your cosmetic treatment won’t last, leaving you disillusioned at the end of the day. Be grateful that you can escape from the mundane world for a while, but remember to return to earth so you can gain the satisfaction of meeting your obligations as well.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

The Sun’s square to elusive Neptune blurs the facts in your world today, challenging you to find enough useful data to make a smart decision about your long-term goals. But your future is so colored by your feelings that you cannot see what’s truly out there. Nevertheless, daydreaming is a key to unlocking the possibilities of the present moment. Set aside a specific time when you  can lose yourself in your fantasies without feeling guilty.

Cosmic Calendar for Sunday, November 20th

Last night – for several hours – the outer planet Uranus became a key planetary player in earthly lives. Now its Neptune’s turn to hog the limelight as this far-out celestial body in Aquarius receives a 90-degree square from the Sun in Scorpio (12:43PM PST). Don’t make the naive mistake in thinking that the only worry concerns 12:43PM PST. There is always a build-up of several hours (at least) before any solar aspect when the vibrations connected to both the Sun and whatever it is interacting with are becoming stronger and stronger. In addition after the alignment has occurred precisely, it isn’t gone, but remains influential – possibly for many hours or even a day or two. The Sun square to Neptune brings up mental clarity and emotional serenity issues. Unfortunately, it is usually the lack of mental clarity and emotional serenity that occurs under the square in question. Part of the problem here is that the Sun and Neptune are in the so-called fixed, power signs of the zodiac where there is a mighty reluctance to change, grow and adapt. Hopefully, just contemplating these concerns can bring you more into an internal state of peace and harmony – the higher goal of the Sun-Neptune face-off in the first place. Meditating to increase enlightenment is definitely a wise approach to working with these Sun-Neptune vibes. Exploring your multi-faceted talents in art, music, dance, poetry, film and photography are other ways to tap into the higher energy-field associated with Neptune. Be aware that a nearly 3-hour void lunar uncertainty zone happens from 2:23PM PST until 5:17PM PST when the Moon enters airy Libra. Thereafter, the cosmic emphasis shifts in the direction of improving the quality of your primary partnerships.

Good Sunday Morning/Afternoon To All!

Days Of The Week Comments
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Relaxing, enjoying the slow, steady rainfall trickling down on their window panes. Hey, wait a minute that me! I hope it is not raining where you are at. But it has been here since last night. I guess I shouldn’t complain it could be snow instead of rain. I have been up and down all night. I decided this time to put my nightly prowling to good use or so I thought. I had this dirty spot under my chair at my computer desk. So smarty pants me gets the rug cleaner and brush and goes to town at it around 4 o’clock this morning. When I got up and looked at it, it looked like crap. So I had to drag out the rug shampooer and clean the rug. Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if we could just twitch our nose like Samantha on Bewitched did and everything would be done. Ha, Hollywood for ya, lol! Unfortunately like isn’t so easy. But I guess if it was, we might all be fat and lazy witches or should I speak for myself, lol!

 Twitch, twitch…..

Your Weekend Love Horoscope for Nov. 18th – 20th

Weekend Love: Lunar Love

by Jeff Jawer

A Different Kind of Love

November 18 – 20

Serious fun is on the menu for Friday night, even though the Moon’s move into methodical Virgo — a sign more associated with work than play — occurs earlier in the afternoon. The Virgo Moon’s practicality and focus on details can burst romantic bubbles and ground high hopes. However, the analytical abilities of Virgo may also be applied to untangle knots of misunderstanding and correct unhealthy habits. But on Friday night the Moon’s harmonious trine with jolly and generous Jupiter, followed by a conjunction with passionate Mars, can provide the motivation and enthusiasm to learn a new dance or cook a complex dinner, all in the name of pleasure. Demonstrating efficiency or cultivating skills may not sound sexy, but competence is a very desirable and useful quality now.

Saturday is perfect for doing tasks with the one you love to combine productivity and closeness. Sunday’s mood is extremely different with the steamy Scorpio Sun’s strong square to fantasy-loving Neptune. This dreamy and spiritual aspect and the Moon’s shift into lovely Libra in the afternoon provide a delightful atmosphere for romance. Use imagination to create a unique environment or a special experience that’s a getaway from ordinary reality, and a ticket to a dreamland where worries melt away and two hearts can beat as one.

Cosmic Calendar for Friday, November 18th

Forewarned is forearmed! So goes an ancient astrological saying. Yesterday, in this calendar, a warning appeared that starting today the universe would stop playing the role of Mr. Nice Guy. Instead, we have a more brutish cosmic scene on our hands as the Last Quarter Sun-Moon Phase occurs (activating 26 degrees of Scorpio and Leo at 7:10AM PST), a void lunar cycle develops from 11:06AM PST to 2:20PM PST (when Virgo Moon begins), a potentially provocative and discordant Sun-Pluto parallel (1:26PM PST) occurs inside the void time-period, and – for good measure – the Moon makes its monthly, highly-charged union with Mars in Virgo (9:13PM PST). Combining this quartet of stellar happenings, it is clear that you need to be very cautious and careful across the board during this 24-hour time-span. Fortunately, pockets of positivity on the investment, literary and educational fronts are present as Mercury forms a supportive, 60-degree link to Vesta (5:34PM PST) while the Moon in Virgo trines Jupiter in Taurus (6:51PM PST). Nevertheless, when the two lights contact Mars and Pluto on the same day, it is highly likely that sparks will be flying in a wide variety of venues and realms of experience. If you want to avoid angry fallout and the wrath of relatives and loved ones – whether deserved or undeserved – do your best to be the picture of human kindness in all your social and familial interactions today.

Your Horoscope Holiday Heads-Up

Your Horoscope Holiday Heads-Up

  • posted by Cait Johnson

By Cait Johnson, co-author of Celebrating the Great Mother (Inner Traditions, 1995).

Each sign of the zodiac embodies certain challenges and qualities. When we know what these are, our horoscope sun sign can give us such a useful heads-up on some things to watch out for in this sometimes-stressful holiday season! For instance, is your sign prone to over-socializing? You may want to rethink going to that thirteenth party. Does your sign need to run the show? You might delegate some of the responsibility before you burn right out.

Find out what your horoscope can tell you about the best way to have truly happy holidays. We even include a helpful holiday affirmation for each sun sign, right here:

Aries, March 21-April 19: Watch out for your tendency to think that only you can do everything: avoid holiday burn-out by delegating responsibilities whenever you can. And be sure to get plenty of outdoor exercise to help keep your fiery nature on an even keel: you don’t want an angry remark of yours to cause any rifts this holiday season. The holidays will still be beautiful even if everything doesn’t get done.

Taurus, April 20-May 21: Be aware that you can get just a little set in your ways around seasonal traditions. This year, try something new! Even if it only involves buying a tree you can plant after the holidays rather than a cut tree, or using your grandmother’s tablecloth on the festive table rather than the one you’ve used for years, remember: Change is good: embrace it.

Gemini, May 22-June 20: Be sure to take time as often as possible to ground and center yourself so that you can be deeply present in the moment rather than flitting from thing to thing. The deepest and most meaningful experiences are often found in stillness.

Cancer, June 21-July 22: This year, do what you can to accept and love your sensitive self as fully as possible; cultivate a positive relationship with the image in your mirror no matter how many cups of eggnog or slices of mince pie you consume. Remember, the body is the home and sanctuary of the soul. And there‘s no place like home.

Leo, July 23- Aug 22: This year, you may want to try creating opportunities for others to shine as brightly as you do: try coaching a children’s choir, or getting a group together to put on a benefit performance for a worthy cause. When we encourage others to glow, the whole world grows a little brighter.

Virgo, Aug 23-Sept 22: Your attention to detail could get compulsive unless you take some time to deeply enjoy the pleasures of the season. You might want to read up on essential oils or herbs that are seasonal allies. The earth and all her gifts are sacred and give me comfort.

Libra, Sept 23-Oct 22: Wanting to be all things to all people could lead you into an exhausting round of social obligations unless you set time aside for your own peace of mind. Maintaining a personal sense of balance is my most important task. It is not my sole responsibility to create harmony in every social situation.

Scorpio, Oct 23-Nov 21: Your easily-offended nature will have many opportunities to take umbrage unless you detach and try not to take things so personally during the festive season. Find heart’s ease in the deeper spiritual meaning of the holidays.

Sagittarius, Nov 22-Dec 21: Be wary of spreading yourself so thin and being the sparkling light in so many people’s lives that you neglect your own fire. Rekindle your spirit’s flame in the soothing dark and silence.

Capricorn, Dec 22-Jan 19: If you feel you must work hard and harder during the holidays, please do yourself and your loved ones a favor and take a break. Simply being, not producing or doing, is my first priority.

Aquarius, Jan 20-Feb 18: Be sure to set aside enough quiet time with your nearest and dearest; use your imagination to invent meaningful activities to share with those you love. I can use my creativity in the service of deeper connection with my loved ones.

Pisces, Feb 19-March 20: Your empathy with the sufferings of others will simply bring everyone around you down unless you find ways to channel it helpfully. Find something you can do on a local level to reach out and be of service. I can share in human joys as well as human suffering.

Your Daily Cosmic Calendar for November 15th

Tap into your creative artistry early as Venus forms an inspirational, 72-degree link to its higher-guardian planet Neptune (12:45AM PST). Love vibrations increase in frequency and erotic impulses intensify. While this particular Venusian alignment is favorable, later this morning the tables are turned as Venus squares Ceres (10:49AM PST). Strive to keep your productivity quotient going strong around this time-period. Trust your feelings and instincts as the day proceeds because the Moon in Cancer and the Sun in Scorpio form one of their two monthly trines (8:04PM PST). Experiment with one of grandma’s old-world recipes for fish chowder, apple pie or corn muffins. The lunar orb dives into a void uncertainty cycle at 9:23PM PST during a Moon-Saturn 90-degree clash. This void-of-course Moon cycle lasts until tomorrow morning at 8:18AM PST when the lunar orb enters heart-centered Leo. Meanwhile, Venus and Vesta reach a supportive, 60-degree rapport tonight (11:13PM PST). Connections with a soul-sister or female relative can give you a lift. Issues concerning insurance rates, safety and security matters, and investment plans may be of central concern.

Grow Your Own Lunar Calendar

Grow Your Own Lunar Calendar

Author: Bran th’ Blessed

The earliest lunar calendars were small sticks into which some Neolithic hunter carved notches to count the days between full moons. This hi-tech device required no battery replacement and was accurate within plus or minus three days of the actual lunar cycle from new moon to new moon. Depending on the hunter, of course.

By such means, it eventually became clear that the full moon occurred every 29 or 30 days. Rather than leave the one finger uncounted on the third go-round, the length of the lunar cycle was set at 30 days (three hands of days) . This length worked well with the estimated duration of the *Celestial Calendar* year, which was 360 days. You may think that the year-counting stick was not as accurate as the month counting stick, but there is always with us humans the expectation of symmetry, and even today it doesn’t set well with us that our year should not end at the end of the twelfth month—as our 12-month Gregorian calendars so clearly attest.

It is because our years were set to 360 days—in order to match precisely with twelve 30-day months—that the circle is ascribed with 360 degrees. The zodiacal path is set to 360 degrees for the 360 days the Sun takes to encompass that circuit, one degree per day.

The Moon, too, encircles the zodiacal path, but it takes only 30 days to do so. In those 30 days the Sun moves 30 degrees, so the Moon must move 360 + 30 = 390 degrees to catch up to the Sun again. While the Sun moves one degree each day, the Moon moves 13 degrees each day. At the end of 30 days, they are united again, but at the beginning of a different zodiacal sign: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer; Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio; Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces…the signs (constellations) of the zodiac. (I have excluded the zodiacal signs, Doris and Butch, as these have grown into disuse over the ages. Pity.)

The Celestial Calendar provides further symmetries with 24 fifteen-day *Esbats* in each year, corresponding with the risings and settings of the zodiacal signs. There are three esbats (45 days) in each of the eight *Sabbats* of the year: The Solstices (Yule and Litha) , Equinoxes (Ostara and Harvest) , and four Cross-Quarter Sabbats (Winterwatch, or Imbolc; Beltane, Lughnasa, and Samhain) , and there are two sabbats (90 days) in each of the four seasons of the year.

This Celestial Calendar, however, is poorly matched by the realities of our astronomy. The Earth takes 365¼ days (not 360 days) to move from Winter Solstice to Winter Solstice. The Moon takes 29½ days (not 30) to move from full moon to full moon, and twelve months is actually only about 354 days. Alas, for a more perfect world, eh?

My *Pagan Seasonal Calendar* corrects the Celestial Calendar’s error in the measure of the year by adding five intercalary days to every year, four midseason, cross-quarter sabbat days and one end-of-the-year day. Winterwatch is added between the third and fourth Esbats (my calendar begins and ends at Yule/Midwinter) . Beltane is added between the ninth and tenth Esbats. Lughnasa is added between the fifteenth and sixteenth Esbats. And Samhain is added between the 21st and 22nd Esbats. Year’s End is added at calendar’s end. At the end of every fourth year (called a Span) , a sixth intercalary day called Span’s End is added, equivalent to our “leap year’s day”. The Span’s End day is not added to the 32nd and final Span of a Gaian Era (which is 128 years) . These few adjustments make my Pagan Seasonal Calendar, incorporating the Celestial Calendar, more accurate than the Gregorian Calendar we use with respect to the length of the year. But of course, it does nothing to resolve the problem with the month.

Real lunar months cannot be conveniently aligned with real seasonal years. Various cultures have tried to devise methods for utilizing a lunar calendar, but the two cycles don’t dance the same dance. The Julian Calendar of the Romans and the Gregorian Calendar of the Catholic Church both follow the lead of the Celestial Calendar in making months as long as desired, 28 or 29 days, 30 or 31 days. Lunar calendar systems make each year twelve of thirteen moons in duration, but the systems are either complex or set by visual observations. For my calendar system, I decided to look for a lunar calendar system that is accurate and works well on its own, and then fret the details of coordination later. This isn’t rocket science after all. The lunar period data available today is accurate to ten decimal places and more, and a handy pocket calculator (batteries included) is all I needed for the simple division problems. So here we go.

The period from one full moon to the next is very close to 29½ days. Two moons are twice that, or 59 days. This 59 day lunar cycle is called a *Doublet*. The *Morning Moon* of any doublet begins at midnight opening the 1st day of the doublet and ends at midday of the 30th day of the doublet; the *Evening Moon* begins at midday of the 30th day and ends at midnight closing the 59th and final day of the doublet. Morning moons begin and end in the morning, between midnight and midday; evening moons begin and end in the evening, between midday and midnight. Both moons go halfsies on the 30th day of the doublet.

The degree of error in a 59-day doublet is such that one day must be added after sixteen such doublets (32 moons) . This period of 32 moons is called a *Cynthiad*. The sixteenth and final doublet of each cynthiad has 60 days instead of 59 days. That makes each cynthiad 945 days, or precisely 135 weeks. The degree of error in a cynthiad is much smaller and in the opposite direction, requiring us to eventually remove one day after 47 cynthiads. This period of 47 cynthiads is called a *Lunar Age*, and it’s about 121 years and pocket change. The last doublet of the last cynthiad in each lunar age does not have a day 60. This last modification keeps the calendar within one day of accuracy for about 66 lunar ages—which is eight millennia and pocket change.

Every cynthiad in this age begins on Sunday; it’s the 7th Age of Balder (or some other Sun God/dess of your choice?) in this *Lunar Epoch*. Because of the dropped day at the end of each age, the cynthiads of succeeding Ages begin one day earlier than those before them. Thus the next Age will be the 7th Age of Saturn, in which all the cynthiads will begin on Saturdays…then Fridays (Freya) , Thursdays (Thor) , Wednesdays (Woden) , and so on. (The Age of Woden, with its Wednesday cynthiads, will begin the 8th cycle of ages.)

As I write this, the upcoming new moon of October 26th, 2011, will be: the 1st day of the Elder Moon, the 16th Morning Moon of the 41st Cynthiad in the 7th Age of Balder, and the 1311th moon in that 46th full Age of the Lunar Epoch. This is the first day of the 16th doublet in the 41st cynthiad of this age.

I associate the 32 moons of a cynthiad with various totem creatures, although I’m not settled on any but the 28th moon (Crow Moon) at this time (and that of course only because it is the moon of my birth, so I name it for my own totem animal, the Crow) . Here are the sixteen doublets of a cynthiad and the names of their morning and evening moons. You should change these totems where you feel it appropriate, but I hope you’ll leave the 28th (Crow Moon) as it is.

Doublet – Morning Moon and Evening Moon
01 – Oak and Owl
02 – Redwood and Bear
03 – Ash and Fox
04 – Walnut and Deer
05 – Hawthorn and Rabbit
06 – Willow and Dove
07 – Pine and Coyote
08 – Cedar and Snake
09 – Holly and Otter
10 – Maple and Mouse
11 – Cottonwood and Buffalo
12 – Hickory and Hawk
13 – Cypress and Spider
14 – Sycamore and Crow
15 – Birch and Badger
16 – Elder and Wolf

There are only six and a fraction doublets in any given year. The doublets of this year (2011) have begun or will begin on the following dates.

(0) – November 6, 2010
(1) – January 4, 2011
(2) – March 4, 2011
(3) – May 2, 2011
(4) – June 30, 2011
(5) – August 28, 2011
(6) – October 26, 2011
(7) – December 24, 2011

(To find later dates, simply count down eight weeks and over three days on your calendar from the last known beginning doublet date.)

On the smaller scale of time, each moon (month) is viewed differently in this lunar calendar system. Three days make a *Lunar House* (or *Temple*) . Three houses belong to the *Maiden Goddess*, three more to the *Mother Goddess*, and three to the *Crone Goddess*. These nine houses mark the visible days of each moon. The other days of each moon belong to the dark moon House of Kore/Persephone. The days of each doublet are as follows:

Day 01 – (Morning Moon Begins) – Dark Moon – House of Kore/Persephone

Day 02-04 – Early Waxing Crescent Moon – House of Selene/Luna (Maiden)
Day 05-07 – Late Waxing Crescent Moon – House of Artemis/Diana (Maiden)
Day 08-10 – Early Waxing Ovate Moon – House of Hanwi (Maiden)

Day 11-13 – Late Waxing Ovate Moon – House of Ngame (Mother)
Day 14-16 – Full Moon – House of Ishtar/Isis (Mother)
Day 17-19 – Early Waning Ovate Moon – House of Nana (Mother)

Day 20-22 – Late Waning Ovate Moon – House of Mawu (Crone)
Day 23-25 – Early Waning Crescent Moon – House of Cereddwyn (Crone)
Day 26-28 – Late Waning Crescent Moon – House of Hecate (Crone)

Day 29-30 – (Morning Moon Ends) at Midday 30 – Dark Moon – House of Kore
Day 30-31 – (Evening Moon Begins) at Midday 30 – Dark Moon – House of Kore

Day 32-34 – Early Waxing Crescent Moon – House of Selene/Luna (Maiden)
Day 35-37 – Late Waxing Crescent Moon – House of Artemis/Diana (Maiden)
Day 38-40 – Early Waxing Ovate Moon – House of Hanwi (Maiden)

Day 41-43 – Late Waxing Ovate Moon – House of Ngame (Mother)
Day 44-46 – Full Moon – House of Ishtar/Isis (Mother)
Day 47-49 – Early Waning Ovate Moon – House of Nana (Mother)

Day 50-52 – Late Waning Ovate Moon – House of Mawu (Crone)
Day 53-55 – Early Waning Crescent Moon – House of Cereddwyn (Crone)
Day 56-58 – Late Waning Crescent Moon – House of Hecate (Crone)

Day 59 – (Evening Moon Ends) – Dark Moon – House of Kore/Persephone

I hope this lunar calendar will be useful to those who hate to wait for the Farmer’s Almanac to come out each year in order to know the new and full moon dates, which is what I used to do back in the age of dinosaurs when there were no computers. I have found this doublet system quite reliable for well over a decade. Sometimes the moon dates may be off about a day due to astronomical variations or when an intercalary day is coming due or has just been added. But I have noted very little such inaccuracy actually. I hope I have provided enough information for you to take it from here should you so choose. – Bran th’ Blessed

Your Weekly Love Horoscopes for November 14th

Working and learning mix well with playing this weekend while the Moon visits competent Virgo. Winging it won’t invite intimacy, but taking on a project with someone is a way to get closer while getting things done. Sunday is a day of rest or, at least, escape. The Sun’s spacey square with dreamy Neptune is ideal for pushing reality out of the way and letting fantasies rule.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Engaging in physical exercise can be a great way to connect with others this weekend. The Virgo Moon is traveling through your 6th House of Self-Improvement, which rewards you for purposeful efforts and planning ahead. However, there is a risk of being too critical or encountering people who focus on your flaws. Don’t waste time quibbling over minor details. Happily, Sunday is a time of forgiveness when mistakes can be erased with loving acts of kindness.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

The Moon is dancing in your 5th House of Romance on Friday and Saturday, which should add some extra spice to your personal life. Yet the lunar presence in precise Virgo works best when you have specific activities scheduled in advance. Nevertheless, it’s important to be flexible enough to alter your plans if necessary. Aiming for perfection is admirable, but it’s not helpful to be too self-critical. A little improvement goes a long way to bring you some positive attention.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

Entertaining at your place makes perfect sense this weekend. The Virgo Moon’s presence in your domestic 4th house on Friday and Saturday enables you to feel more comfortable and cozy at home. There’s no need to get overly elaborate since a simple, well-planned experience is more likely to succeed than going overboard. The Moon shifts into lovely Libra and your 5th House of Romance on Sunday evening, offering up the possibility of having a delicious time with a delightful companion.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Serious discussions are on the agenda this weekend. The analytical Virgo Moon spends Friday and Saturday working in your 3rd House of Communication. Nitpicking over little things and worrying about minor matters isn’t constructive, but addressing real concerns in specific terms is advised. Putting your feelings into words isn’t always easy, but clarifying issues that are important to you is worth the effort.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Managing all of your resources wisely, including your time, money and energy, is essential this weekend. The careful Virgo Moon’s presence in your 2nd House of Self-Worth signals a definite need to be realistic and modest in your approach. Even if you’re feeling confident, it’s smart to avoid overloading yourself with too many activities. Doing less with greater attention to detail is more satisfying now and others can’t help but appreciate and admire your work.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

The Moon in your sign this weekend casts you in the bright spotlight. It’s great to get all the attention as long as you’re not too hard on yourself in the process. Physical activities like dancing can be great fun on Friday night since you should have extra energy at your disposal. Letting your feelings rise to the surface might seem a little awkward, but it’s healthier to be honest than to hide your emotions now. Relationships rooted in reality have more chances for success as long as you speak from your heart.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

The Moon is hiding out in your secretive 12th house this weekend, which makes these better times for enjoying quiet, private events than being lost in the midst of a loud crowd. Intimate conversations or time alone can help you untangle some knots that inhibit your relationships. Connecting with others is easy once you are back to your usual charming and friendly self on Sunday night when the Moon moves into your sociable sign. Shining your light will attract the ones you love.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Friends and co-workers supplement your social life this weekend because going out with a group of people or connecting with someone through an organization can be surprisingly rewarding. Keep in mind that an attraction to a pal or colleague might complicate matters. Still, being with someone who shares your ideals and values can get a relationship off to a good start. The Moon slips into Libra and your 12th House of Privacy on Sunday night, which is perfect for enjoying some rest and relaxation.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You may have too many obligations on your plate to be able to fulfill your social aspirations this weekend. The Moon is in your 10th House of Responsibility on Friday and Saturday, which occupies your time with a multitude of tasks. Still, taking care of business in a competent manner may impress others and makes you more desirable to someone special. Sunday night is a whole different ballgame once the Moon shifts into sociable Libra and your gregarious 11th house, enabling you to work the crowd with your charm and humor.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Breaking free from your usual activities is a wonderful way to liven up the weekend. The Virgo Moon is traveling through your adventurous 9th House on Friday and Saturday, encouraging you to explore unfamiliar territory. Participating in cultural events, especially from faraway places, can be extremely rewarding. Just don’t compare everything you see and do to your traditional tastes. Stepping outside of your comfort zone opens your mind to new forms of pleasure and delight.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Dealing with relationship complications may not be your idea of fun, but it could be just what the doctor ordered for this weekend. The rational Virgo Moon is in your 8th House of Intimacy, challenging you to address values and desires that are different from your own. Yet if you embrace this emotional process, you can enhance a current alliance or increase your chances of creating a new one. Just remember that being kind while being real is key.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

The Virgo Moon is hanging out in your 7th House of Partners on Friday and Saturday, which puts relationships front and center in your life. The challenge is to deal with matters in a more realistic way instead of letting your emotions get the best of you. Talking about what works and what doesn’t work is not the most romantic activity. Yet your willingness to examine issues in a mature manner builds the foundation for a successful union.

Lake Loma Sunset

Summary Author: Robert Farrimond; Jim Foster

The photo above showing a magnificent early autumn sunset was taken at Lake Loma, near Marysville, Washington on September 24, 2010. When I first noticed this sunset I was in my front yard. As the impact of the colors started to sink in, I grabbed my camera and then loped over to the lake’s boat launch to snap this shot. It seems that often the camera doesn’t record what you’re actually seeing but fortunately, this wasn’t one of those times.

The formula for the most vibrant sunsets and sunrises does not include an expression for clear skies. When the sky is as clear as a bell as the Sun is setting, the western sky is in fact not very remarkable at all. To get the best colors, there must be something in the sky to scatter and reflect sunlight. On this evening, it was clouds at different heights. Even without clouds, certain aerosols and particulates (including smoke, soot and ash) may produce fine color too. The upper and most colorful cloud layer on this photo is composed of cirrus clouds. These are high enough to capture fiery color though at the surface the Sun had already set several minutes earlier. Clouds carrying less and less color are seen lower and lower in the sky. Accent these lower clouds with a few odd holes, add in some silhouetted conifers plus a rippled lake that reflects the sunset and conifers, then place some floating vegetation and reeds in the foreground, and voila – your masterpiece is complete.

Cosmic Calendar for Thursday, November 10th

This is a good point in this calendar to remind you that celestial alignments and events on one day don’t necessarily disappear the day after. Therefore, yesterday’s Neptune station is very much a reality today as well. It is just that a powerful Full Moon (activating 19 degrees of Scorpio and Taurus at 12:17PM PST) and the direct station of Chiron at 1 degree of Pisces (3:15PM PST) are now the main astrological happenings spreading their influences throughout humanity. Individual and group meditations are advised in and around the time-period of the Full Moon. Send out your healing thoughts and prayers to dear ones, friends, associates, and the kingdoms of nature. Since the Sun parallels Ceres (12:59PM PST) an extra note of nurturance and maternal care is being expressed throughout our social interactions. Meanwhile, the comet-like celestial body Chiron – that has been in retrograde motion since June 8 – stops from our vantage point and begins forward motion at 1 degree of Pisces (3:15PM PST). [Chiron stays forward until June 11, 2012 when it will shift into retrograde motion again at 10 degrees of Pisces.] All Chiron themes – the maverick, the wounded healer, the shaman, keys that open doors to higher consciousness, bridge-building between the spiritual and material planes, twilight zones of strange awareness, holistic healing and alternative medicine, herbalism and folk medicine, catalysts, shape-shifting and oracles – are reinforced throughout the day. Another major cosmic shift concerns Mars entering Virgo (8:16PM PST) for an extended stay until July 3, 2012 due to the red planet’s eventual retrograde cycle from January 23, 2012 to April 13, 2012. Mars in the sixth sign of the zodiac places an emphasis on being more organized, orderly in your approach to work and business, and striving to be an efficiency master at your residence or on the job.

New Moon Report for Nov. 10th – Mars in Virgo

Mars in Virgo

Thursday, November 10, 8:15 pm PST, 11:15 pm EST

While hearts and minds (Venus and Mercury) romp in playful Sagittarius, energetic Mars has to buckle down and take care of business in practical Virgo. Mastering techniques, improving skills and acting with precision are among its tasks. Competence grows with this efficient transit but a tendency to nitpick can be irritating. Criticism, though, can be useful when it comes with instructions that show how to make things better.

New Moon Report for Nov. 10 – Full Moon in Taurus

 Full Moon in Taurus

Thursday, November 10, 12:16 pm PST, 3:16 pm EST

The placid Taurus Moon contrasts with the opposing Sun in Scorpio’s impulse to examine every act and question every motive. Stubborn standoffs between those who prefer things the way they are and those who need to turn the world upside down force us to examine our values. Of course, neither way of operating is appropriate all the time, so instead of locking into fixed positions, it’s wiser to recognize where to hold on and where to let go. Financial issues are likely to be emphasized as we seek ways to appreciate what we have (Taurus) while honoring our hunger for change (Scorpio).

Jumping Sundogs Over Thunderclouds

Explanation: What’s happening above those clouds? In the past few years, videos have appeared on the web detailing an unusual but little known phenomenon: rapid light changes over clouds. Upon inspection and contemplation, a leading hypothesis for its cause has now emerged. In sum, this hypothesis holds that a lightning discharge in a thundercloud can temporarily change the electric field above the cloud where charged ice crystals were reflecting sunlight. The new electric field quickly re-orients the geometric crystals to a new orientation that reflects sunlight differently. In other words, a lightning discharge can cause a sundog to jump. Soon, the old electric field may be restored, causing the ice crystals to return to their original orientation. To help this curious phenomenon become better studied, sky enthusiasts with similar jumping or dancing sundog videos are encouraged to share them.

Daily Horoscopes for Tuesday, November 8th

Today’s enthusiastic Aries Moon pushes us through uncomfortable territory as she forms anxious aspects with Mercury, Venus and Saturn. The road becomes even bumpier when taskmaster Saturn’s stressful semisquares to Venus and Mercury show us what’s wrong with our work, rather than praising us for what we did right. Meanwhile, a destabilizing Sun-Uranus aspect can expose a well-kept secret, clearing the way for honest discussions about real issues.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Although you may be more impatient today than usual, moving too quickly isn’t a smart thing to do. You might not feel supported by your closest friends and workmates, especially if you are concerned with fulfilling your own needs. Ultimately, you’ll do better if you follow your dreams, even if they conflict with the wishes of others. Proceed slowly and deliberately; acting overly assertive will only add to your problems.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

You’re motivated to put your dreams into words today, even if you reveal a new facet of your personality in the process. However, your seemingly harmless disclosure can initiate a serious disagreement, and once you start to argue, it may be difficult to find your way back to a more peaceful place. Think twice before sharing your personal secrets on the job, for once they’re out in the open you won’t be able to take them back.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

You would like to set aside your responsibilities today so you can spend time with your friends. Although you’re ready to change your plans at the last minute to make something enjoyable happen, it’s not a smart idea to leave someone hanging without advanced warning. Consider the negative impact of your actions prior to doing something you might soon regret. Thankfully, being more understanding of others now can deepen your relationships in ways that can’t be easily measured.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

You are inclined to pull away from someone close to you or ignore a time-honored tradition in your life. You could even feel resentful of anything that restricts your self-expression now. Nevertheless, you don’t want to cut your family ties, and you know that you can’t just disappear and pretend like no one else exists. Instead of upsetting your personal life, demonstrate your independence by attempting something completely new and different today.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You’re excited about the prospects of your future, yet obvious obstacles still need to be handled before you can consider yourself successful. You could even feel waves of discouragement today if you focus on how much work there is still left to finish. It’s helpful to take a few moments and think about your recent changes, carefully observing where your horizons have grown. However, don’t waste precious energy looking back, for time marches on and you must live in the present.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

You might be feeling agitated today, yet you’re unable to put your finger on the source of your anxiety. You need to tell someone what you are thinking, but blurting out the truth may not be the smartest way to settle your nerves. Instead, try a more diplomatic approach by finding shared beliefs and values, and establishing common ground from there. Remember, confrontation is rarely as productive as cooperation.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Someone may be insisting that you make up your mind today, but you don’t want to decide because you’re able to see both sides of the issue. It’s not that you don’t care about the outcome; it’s just that you can imagine a multitude of possibilities from whatever position you choose. It may require a great deal of determination to remain neutral now, but that’s your best strategy until you get a clear answer from within.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You’re inspired to try new approaches to routine jobs today because you’re bored of doing repetitive tasks. But acting impulsively with a radical approach to your chores may not be the smartest tactic, even if you want to stir things up. You might feel a lot better in the short run, but your productivity could suffer. The more familiar route makes a lot of sense now as long as you commit to finding an outlet for your restlessness later.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

The workweek ahead seems longer than usual because the Moon in your 5th House of Fun and Games is enticing you to escape. You’re ready to party, but you just can’t make plans with so much to do at work. Thankfully, you’re able to recognize that this isn’t the best time to take off. Just don’t project your frustration onto your workmates. Giving yourself a bit of breathing room will allow you to appreciate others more.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

You naturally prefer staying cool, but today your emotions provoke you to jump in and take direct action immediately. Impulsive behavior may be unavoidable now if you project your fear of change onto the current situation. Fortunately, saying what’s on your mind can release you from your worries. Embrace the future with an open mind, instead of holding on tightly to the past.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Your social calendar may be busy enough that you’re anticipating a number of exciting activities. Or, perhaps, you’re looking forward to doing a project that you’ve been putting off. Keep in mind that your current optimism may not be enough to keep your plans on schedule. Although a surprise might turn things upside down, your flexible attitude can transform an upset into an adventure.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

You could shock your co-workers or friends with your radical behavior today. They may have believed that they knew you well, but now you’re full of surprises. Nevertheless, don’t spend too much time worrying about how others view your apparent change of values. You don’t have to justify your actions to anyone else; just be true to yourself and explain your motives at another time if you wish

Cosmic Calendar for November 8th

As mentioned at the end of yesterday’s calendar entry, this day starts off with some extra oomph in the right direction as the Moon parallels Jupiter (1:39AM PST). Even though this lunar aspect won’t last a long time, it reinforces optimism as the day begins. Since the Moon in Aries opposes Saturn in Libra (10:11AM PST), the earlier lunar contact with buoyant Jupiter can help to keep you out of the doldrums. In addition, excitement builds around the time when the Sun makes a frictional, 135-degree link to Uranus (11:40AM PST). Uranus strong can equate with a rising tide of surprises and shock waves, but you may also make advances on the cutting edge of science and metaphysics. A Moon-Mars parallel (2:34PM PST) suggests a slow-down around that time-period in order that you avoid making rash acts that will boomerang against you. Another reason to slow your tempo today is that Venus and Mercury form abrasive, 45-degree ties to Saturn at 5:42PM PST and 7:11PM PST, respectively. Be more productive in arts, crafts and hobbies as the Sun in Scorpio forms a flowing trine to Ceres in Pisces (8:40PM PST). This aspect doubles as a catalyst to help you make sensible dietary and nutritional changes. Physical and emotional vitality is on the rise – courtesy of the Moon in Aries trine to Mars in Leo (9:47PM PST). However, this alignment also starts a void lunar cycle that lasts until 11:46PM PST when the Moon enters earthy Taurus. Gear up for tomorrow’s Neptune shift from reverse to direct in Aquarius as well as the upcoming Full Moon and Chiron shift from reverse to direct in Pisces on Thursday.

Weekend Love: Lunar Love

by Jeff Jawer

Time, Love and Tenderness

November 4 – 6

The Moon swishes into sensitive Pisces on Friday morning to create a tender mood for the next two days. This lunar transit lowers emotional barriers as feelings overcome intellect, producing a favorable environment for closeness. However, the intimacy we often experience in poetic Pisces is sentimental and universal, as if we’re in love with love instead of the particular qualities of our companions. Escaping within fantasies to dream about faraway places where the harsh realities of daily life are shrouded in the fog of blind love can be both delicious and deceiving. Yet we’re more likely to appreciate a lie that favors romance than a truth that wakes us from cozy dreams of soul connection.

Avoid serious work unless it has a spiritual, artistic or humanitarian purpose, because helping others and creating beauty are especially endearing with the Moon’s presence in compassionate Pisces. Whiling away the hours engaging in relaxing activities like walking in the woods, drinking wine and listening to music creates a low-stress environment that’s needed to support relationships.

The mood is quite different on Sunday as skins must grow tougher with the Moon’s entry into fiery and independent Aries. The urge for freedom intensifies, burning away the cocoon of closeness and reminding us to act boldly by trying new experiences and meeting new people.
