Elder’s Meditation of the Day August 2

Elder’s Meditation of the Day August 2

“When you get older and you are ready, your ancestors will show up to guide you.”

–Joe Coyhis, STOCKBRIDGE-MUNSEE

Many of us, when we are young, spend a portion of our lives in learning. Unfortunately, some of us spend this time learning the hard way. When we are young we sometimes think we know everything. Sometimes we do foolish things. As we get a little older, we realize we don’t know anything. This is when we become teachable. There is a saying that goes, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. We usually aren’t teachable unless we are ready. The ancestors are waiting and willing to help. When we are ready, many beautiful teachers start to come into our lives. Then we really start to grow and mature. We are ready for the spiritual lesson.

Creator, help me to become ready and teachable.

Healing Prayer To Hecate

Healing Prayer To Hecate

By Mystic Amazon

.
O Sweet Dark Mother of the Night,
please turn your sympathy toward us
and send us your deep healing.

Lady, let your glimmering Moon
lighten all the dark places in our hearts
that need your bright clarity.

Send your dark hounds to protect us
and sleep near us, so we feel safe;
heal our pains of body and mind.

Please bring your fiery torches
as we walk beside you in the night time;
teach us more understanding.

Enfold us with the strength of your love;
as you teach us, let us share with others
the love and healing of your Light.

Meditate on the Heart

Meditate on the Heart

by Deepak Chopra

The purpose of this exercise is to give you the experience of making your  heart pure enough to witness spirit. Pure here doesn’t mean good and virtuous;  it means free from impurity, with no value judgment intended. In the words of  William Blake, we are cleansing the doors of perception.

Sit comfortably in a quiet room by yourself, choosing a time when you feel  settled and unhurried. Early morning is best, since your mind will be alert and  fresh. Close your eyes and focus your attention on the middle of your chest,  where your heart is. (Your spiritual heart lies directly behind your  breastbone.)

Be aware of your heart as a space. Don’t try to hear your heartbeat or any  other sound you think a heart makes as it pumps blood. The heart center you want  to find is a point of awareness where feelings enter. In its pure form it is  empty, pervaded by weightlessness, absence of care, peace, and a subtle light.  This light may appear as white, gold, pale pink, or blue. But again, don’t  strain to find a light of any kind. You are not trying to sense the purity of  the heart center right now; all you need to feel is whatever is there.

Letting your attention rest easily there, breathe gently and sense your  breath going into your heart center. Here you may want to visualize a soft  pastel light, or a coolness pervading the chest. Let the breath go in and out,  and as it does, ask your heart to speak to you. Don’t phrase this as an order;  just have the faint intention that you want your heart to express itself.

For the next five or 10 minutes, sit and listen. Your heart will begin to  release emotions, memories, wishes, fears, and dreams long stored there, and as  it does, you will find yourself paying attention.

Paying attention to your heart is the object of this meditation.

You will notice as you continue this exercise that three things are naturally  coming together: Meditation, purification and attention. You are learning to be  with your heart in order to heed its spiritual meaning—this is  meditation. You are letting repressed material come up to be  released—this is purification. You are listening to your heart  without judgment or manipulation—this is attention.

For You Are Not Alone

From the Goddess ~

By DesertStar,WMS, Order of the White Moon

I hear you crying in the night
So softly the breeze carries your sighs
I see your heart breaking with hurt
I see your life filled with sadness
And your mind wondering which way to turn

Hush my dearest one
For I am hear,
I hold you in my arms
I understand the pain you feel

Hush my dearest one
For I am near
And forever you are in my heart

Hush my dearest one
And please remember dear
That I the Goddess am with you and your
Are not alone.

As I hear you crying in the night. . .

What Do You Mean By Detox?

What Do You Mean By Detox?

by Dr. Frank Lipman

There is a lot of misunderstanding about what a detox is and how to do it, so  let me explain how I understand detoxification.

Detoxification is what your body does naturally to neutralize, transform or  get rid of unwanted materials or toxins. It is a primary function of the body,  constantly working and interacting with all other functions of the body. So when  I am talking about detoxification, it is about improving and optimizing the  function of your body’s own detoxification systems. This is done by decreasing  the amount of toxins we put into our bodies while at the same time supporting  our body’s detoxification and elimination systems with the nutrients it needs to  function properly.

As a culture we are very aware of our external cleanliness. We clean our  teeth daily, we bath and wash our hair daily or every other day and we like to  look and smell clean because it makes us feel better. Similarly, I see  detoxification as internal cleansing. The problem is that it’s often hard to  know when our internal cleansing mechanisms are not functioning well. Unlike  other parts of our body it is very hard to know how well our liver is working,  and our liver is the main detoxification organ. It filters the blood of bacteria  and toxins, chemically neutralizing toxins and converting them to substances  that can be eliminated by the kidneys and synthesizing and secreting bile.

Although it is mostly ignored by our current medical system, the  detoxification system is a key component of our body’s functioning. Most of the  molecules made by our bodies every day, are for getting rid of waste products.  We need hundreds of enzymes, vitamins and other molecules to help rid the body  of unwanted waste products and chemicals. We need to manufacture these molecules  to help take the good from what we ingest and get rid of the unwanted. Although  the bulk of the work is done by the liver and the intestinal tract, the kidneys,  lungs, lymphatic system and skin are all involved in this complex detoxification  system.

The purpose of a detoxification program is primarily to support these organs  of elimination so that toxins present in the body can be metabolized and  excreted. Time and time again I’ve seen the benefits a good internal cleanse can  bring.

I think an effective detoxification system is necessary for good  health and in response to the many requests I’ve had, I have put together my own  program based on what I’ve seen working in my practice.I designed a 2 week detox with all the components I feel are necessary to optimize your body’s  detoxification systems. This is now available for everybody online.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day July 23

Elder’s Meditation of the Day July 23

“…the greatest strength is in gentleness.”

–Leon Shenandoah, ONONDAGA

Our Elders have taught us many lessons about becoming a Warrior and how to think and act like one. We have been told about the power of gentleness. We have been told about the power of the stillness. Physical power is about effort. Mental power is the opposite. It’s about being effortless or less any effort. Gentleness is one of the greatest attributes of the Warrior and one of the greatest mental powers. It takes a lot of love to be gentle. Gentleness is not an ego word. Gentleness is the weapon of the Great Spirit.

My Creator, today I will be gentle with myself and with others. I will listen to the whisper of my heart and learn the power of being gentle.

“You must speak straight so that your words may go as sunlight into our hearts.”

–Cochise “Like Ironweed” CHIRICAHUA APACHE

Come into my heart this morning. Allow me this day to live in the now. Help me to see all the beauty You have created in all things. Let me know myself. Today, as I make mistakes, let me see them as lessons. Guide me. When I see others make mistakes, let me honor them for where they are. Let me realize that they are Your children and only You, my Grandfather, knows what is really going on. When my lips move, let the words be Your words.

Allow me to have the courage to speak Your truth.

Witches’ Ladder for Comfort & Blessing

WITCHES LADDER FOR COMFORT AND BLESSING

If you want to do a spell to comfort [a sick friend], try making a witch’s ladder.

Take a long blue cord or ribbon, and collect 7 symbols to hang from it — things like Grey feathers for protection during sleep, sprigs of healing herbs, garlic for healing and protection, small talismans, conjure bags, charms you get the idea. The important thing is that the symbols should represent comfort, protection, and healing. Tie them to the cord and charge it with comforting power.

Daily Motivator for July 18 – Put it all to use

Put it all to use

Nothing is too difficult and nothing is too complicated. Nothing is out of  reach, and nothing is too outrageous.

Life is what it is, and you have the immense good fortune of being here,  right now, to live it. So instead of working to place judgments on it, go ahead  and live it.

Sure, some tasks are highly complex, and others demand large amounts of  effort and commitment. The good news is that those are precisely the kinds of  things you’re so very good at.

It is indeed a blessing that life can be so demanding. After all, that’s what  gives life so many great and fulfilling possibilities.

Step up and claim the most valuable of your own amazing possibilities. Feel  those good things that resonate most with you, and joyfully bring them to  life.

You have great power, purpose, and ability. Choose in this moment, and again  and again, to put it all to meaningful and effective use.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day July 16

“Grandfather says…you must not hurt anybody or do harm to anyone. You must not fight. Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.”

–Wovoka, PAIUTE

The question one should ask themselves is: Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy? If you want to be right, this is a request from your ego. If you want to be happy then this is of the Great Spirit. The only meaning anything has is the meaning we give it. Maybe we should develop a philosophy of: Today is the last day of the rest of my life. If this were true, how easy it would be to let things go – how easy it would be to forgive.

Oh Great Spirit, let me live today as if it was my last. Let me express Your joy and be happy today. Let me see the joy and honor of living on the Red Road.

Daily OM for July 16 – Uncover Your True Face

Uncover Your True Face
Underneath the Mask

Many of us know the feeling of being stuck in a particular role within our families, as if we are wearing masks whenever we see the people we love. Maybe we are the good daughters, expected to always please others, or perhaps we are the family clowns, expected to be jovial and make everyone laugh. This same scenario can play out within a work situation or a group of friends. We may be so good at our role that we hardly even notice that we are wearing a mask, and yet, deep down, we know that we are not free to simply be who we really are. This can leave us feeling unseen and uneasy.

There is nothing inherently wrong with wearing a mask or playing a role. It is a natural part of any social dynamic and it can even be creative and fun. It only becomes a problem when you feel that you have no other choice than to wear that mask, and this is especially challenging if you realize you are never without one. Perhaps you have forgotten who you really are-a vast and unrestricted being of light-and have identified yourself completely with a role. You may be the dutiful, caring son who keeps his parents’ dysfunctional marriage intact. You may be the angelic wife who enables your husband to continue on a destructive path. You may be the cheerful daughter to a deeply depressed mother. Whatever the case, knowing the motivation behind your performance-the function of your mask-can help to uncover your true face.

Anytime we find ourselves stuck behind a mask, it is an indication that we are entangled in a dysfunctional dynamic in which our true self cannot be seen. We have been placed in this situation for the purpose of our own healing and, in some cases, the healing of others. From this perspective, life can be seen as a series of situations that call us to remove our masks-gently, and with great compassion for all concerned-to reveal the beauty underneath.

Before You Start A Spell….Start Your Energy Engine!

Before You Start A Spell….Start Your Energy Engine!

You need to be able to concentrate to will the manifestation of spells.

Exercises for concentration

1) Light a candle on the table before you. Look (not stare) at the flame for a
few minutes. Close your eyes and hold the image in you mind for as long as you
can before you conscious mind intrudes.
2) Do the flame exercise once again and once you have the flame in your mind
change the size shape and color of the flame. Summon associated images and
follow them through.
3) Take a picture, place it at eye level, and follow the directions for 1. 4) Do 3 again, but when you have the picture in your mind, make it move, change
it and follow any related imagery through.

Notes on Meditation – meditation centers and grounds you.
Meditation can teach you many things about yourself, your abilities, and the
world around you.

Soft wordless music can help in meditation.
The fewer distractions the better.
Be in a comfortable position, but not one you will fall asleep in.
Do not try to meditate when sleepy, you´ll just fall asleep.
Close your eyes and encircle yourself with protective light, normally white.

Use a staircase, a bridge, a cave, any crossing over symbol you wish, to start
your trip into a different consciousness.

Talk to those you meet if you wish.
Try any thing that feels right to you.
If at any time you become uncomfortable with what is happening reaffirm the
protective light and leave.

You can search out and meet your anima/animus this way if you wish.
You can even meet a guide.

Alpha State –

Close your eyes and center yourself.
On a screen of the inside of your forehead see a large red 7.
Then count down, seeing the numbers on the inside of your forehead,
orange 6,
yellow 5,
green 4,
blue 3,
indigo 2,
violet 1.

Feel each color´s vibration. Once you reach violet 1 then keeping the color violet in you mind count backwards from 10-1.

Then say to yourself “Now I am in Alpha state all I do will be for the good and
harm no one.” Do what you wish now, spellwork, concentration manifestations, etc.

To leave Alpha state first give yourself a total health clearance by removing
everything yucky from your system with your mind (passing a hand across your body and visualizing any stress or illness leaving you works well) then count from violet 1 to red 7.

Then count up from 1-10 keeping the red in your mind, take a few deep breaths and open your eyes.

To get into instant Alpha, when in Alpha decide upon a sign that you can use to go directly into Alpha with your eyes open (useful for use when driving).

To neutralize threats through use of Alpha State, go into Alpha visualize
threats and cross them out with white x´s.

Your Magickal Spell for July 16 – Spell to Send Love & Light Through Pendulum

Magickal Spell for Monday, July 16th

Spell to Send Love and Light Through a Pendulum

Even if you are not confident about sending healing, you can transmit love and light to a person who is ill or unhappy or whom you know is under intense pressure. The easiest and most powerful tool for this is a crystal pendulum. It will simplify and transmit your own positive feelings and wishes, even if you have never tried healing before.

What You Will Need:

A white or purple candle; a clear quartz or amethyst crystal pendulum (even a small one works).
When To Cast:

At last light.

The Spell:

  1. If possible facing the sunset, light the candle.
  2. Hold the pendulum in front of the candle so that the light shines on it.
  3. Spin the pendulum gently so that the candle light reflects through it. As you look at the spiraling light, project into the pendulum (as if you were looking through a window) an image of the person you are sending love and light to.
  4. Speak, either aloud or in your head, the words you would like the person to hear, and visualize him or her smiling in response and perhaps holding out a hand.
  5. Spin the pendulum even faster, so that the color blurs.
  6. When the pendulum reverses direction, blow out the candle, using your own words to send the love and light to the face in the crystal.

Imagine yourself full of energy and enthusiasm, getting up each morning  excited and positive about the day ahead. Imagine yourself being highly  effective, able to achieve whatever you set out to do with confidence and  ease.

In your mind’s eye, see yourself working with discipline and focus, able to  quickly and easily make the right decisions, always knowing what to say and do  in every situation.

Imagine yourself being the person you’ve always wanted to be. Imagine living  the life you’ve always dreamed of living. See it in detail. Visualize it with  richness and intensity. Know you can have it. Know you can do it. Know you can  be it, with absolute certainty.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day July 14

Elder’s Meditation of the Day July 14

“It was good for the skin to touch the earth, and the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with bare feet on the sacred earth… The soil was soothing, strengthening, cleansing, and healing.”

–Chief Luther Standing Bear, TETON SIOUX

Touching the earth – getting grounded, centered. There is magic in touching the earth and feeling her healing power. This is especially healthy to do during a troubling time when our minds are racing or can’t stop thinking or are locked onto fear or resentment. When I need to feel free I can go to the Mother Earth. The Mother Earth is full of life and love. She always gives her powers to those who come to her. The Mother Earth is alive.

Today, my Great Spirit, let me remember to touch the earth. Let me slow down and live just for today. Let me be gentle, patient and kind.

9 Essential Oils with Huge Health Benefits

9 Essential Oils with Huge Health Benefits

Samantha, selected from TreeHugger

Essential  oils have their place secured in a natural beauty routine: They’re   natural, chemical-free alternatives to everything from traditional  cosmetics to  potentially toxic fragrances.   But many can do a lot more than just smell good:  While we can’t say  with authority the 10 oils highlighted here are miracle  cures,  throughout history they’ve been credited with treating problems   including digestion issues and acne; increasing concentration; killing  germs  and much more.

Peppermint

The bright scent of peppermint does more than freshen your breath: It is also  used to soothe nausea and other stomach issues, help stop itching, and cool  overworked  muscles (thanks to the menthol).Add drops of peppermint oil to a  bowl of hot water and breathe in the  steam to fight congestion, or rub diluted  oil into sore muscles. And  that’s not all: Peppermint is a key ingredient in oil mixtures that fight  PMS, act as an  all-natural alternative to VapoRub, cool sore throats, and quiet  headaches — and it’s often credited with increasing concentration, so  ideal  for a mid-afternoon alternative to coffee pick-me-up.

Lavender

For Anita Boen, who runs an organic farm that provides  herbs and oils to  upscale spas, lavender is a go-to oil for almost any situation: Not only  is it one of the few  oils that is gentle enough to use undiluted, it’s a  “virtual first aid  kit in a bottle.”The antibacterial  properties allow it to fight germs (which is  why it’s also such an  important ingredient in many all-natural  cleaning products for home and body), and, like  peppermint, it’s  often credited with aiding digestion and helping fight  headaches.

Lavender oil’s soft scent is said to help calm the nervous system,  improve  sleep quality, combat joint pain, and fight everything from  urinary disorders  and respiratory problems to high blood pressure and acne.

Sesame

Sesame  oil may be best known for its moisturizing  qualities, which make it  a favorite ingredient for hair  and skin treatments. But the health benefits go beyond  beauty: Sesame oil has a slight SPF  factor, contains fatty acids believed to  lower stress and blood  pressure, and has been shown to help  slow the growth of cancer in cells.

Rose

This rose by any name will smell as sweet: Look for it  labeled as Rose Otto,  rose oil, or rose  essential oil, and choose oils produced in Bulgaria  and Turkey for  the highest quality. These slightly-distilled oils won’t have  the strong  scents of oils used for perfumes, but they are more popular with   aromatherapists.  Nature’s  Gift calls rose oil “the ultimate woman’s oil,”  because it has a  reputation for improving hormone balance, treating PMS and  menopause,  counteracting problems in the bedroom, and improving the look and  health  of your skin.

Geranium

Planet Green suggests including geranium  oil as an ingredient in a PMS-fighting  solution,  but it’s also  well-known for its astringent properties —  which allow it to  refresh  skin — and its styptic aspects, which calm  inflammations and stop   hemorrhaging. You can also use geranium  oil to treat acne, and oily skin, boost   circulation, and decrease  bloating. The oil can reduce the appearance  of scars  and blemishes, get  rid of body odor, and contract  blood  vessels to diminish the appearance of lines  and wrinkles.

Pine

The sharp tang of pine   oil may call up Christmas trees and rugged aftershaves, but this   tree’s  needles also offer antiseptic, antibacterial, and analgesic   properties that  make it a favorite of holistic health experts.Pine oil  is said to help treat  skin issues — including psoriasis,  eczema, and  pimples; speed up metabolism;  act as an antidote to food  poisoning;  ease joint pain and arthritis; kill  germs; and battle  respiratory  problems that go along with cough and cold  season.

Clove

Spicy clove  oil is one of the main ingredients in Tiger  Balm, an all-natural remedy said to temper hangover  headaches —  but holistic health practitioners find other uses for it, too. It’s  a popular choice for dental issues, including tooth and gum  pain, and some  sites recommend using it for bad breath (although whether  you’d rather have  your breath smell like cloves is up to you).

Clove  oil is also antiseptic, so diluted versions can treat  bug bites,  cuts, and scrapes; other suggested treatments help clear up  earaches,  digestion problems, nasal congestion, stomachaches, and headaches. As  an  added bonus, it’s an aphrodisiac — and therefore a popular form of  stress  relief.

Black Pepper

It might not be as  sweet-smelling as the more floral entries on this list,  but black  pepper oil still has its place in your natural health  arsenal.Pepper had its day as one of the world’s most valuable spices, in  part  because of its healing properties, which include aiding digestion,  undoing  cramps and convulsions, warming muscles to ease joint pain and  arthritis, and  curing bacterial infections.

Lemon Balm

Lemon  balm essential oil, also known as Melissa essential  oil after the  plant’s Latin name, Melissa officinalis, doesn’t look  like much,  but it has plenty of benefits. It’s an antidepressant, it keeps your  nervous  system working smoothly, it calms anxiety and inflammation, it   counteracts insomnia, it heals ulcers, it fights bacterial infections,  and has  been credited with treating herpes, headaches, and high blood  pressure.
