The Witches Magick for the 13th day of the Mead Moon – Meditation in a Jar

Witchy Cat Graphics & Comments

MEDITATION IN A JAR

After dark, turn on some faerylike music. Albums by Enya, Alain Stivell, Kim Robertson, and Clannad are all ideal.

First make the meditation jar. Use a jar with a cap. Put in a teaspoon each of all these dried herbs: cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, garlic salt, marjoram, sage, and cloves.

Before you do the meditation, cap and shake the jar gently. Uncap the jar, and carefully inhale the scent, making sure none of the powder gets in your eyes, nose, mouth, or on your skin. The powers of the herbs heighten your psychic abilities.

Now sit or recline comfortably. Loosen any clothing that may be binding you. Close your eyes, and imagine a magical faery castle. Shape and fashion it from anything you like: the moon, the stars, crystals, gems, or flowers. This faery castle is a place where you can go to energize yourself with the magic of faeryland, even if it’s just a few minutes.

Take a deep breath in and out. In your mind’s eye step over the threshold of the castle, and enter it. As you step inside, your senses seem to come alive. You notice that the castle is filled with friendly faeries of all different types. There are flower faeries and woodland elves, winged faeries and will-o-wisps. Take a few minutes to explore the castle and all the faeries within. Enjoy the joyful sensations that accompany the adventure.

When you are done meditating, bring your attention to the present time and place, or if you like, drift to sleep, thinking of your faery castle. The jar can be used for other magical works. When the scent is gone, empty the jar contents onto the earth as an offering to the faeries. Say:

This is an offering to the kind and helpful faeries!

The Witches Magick for the 12th Day of the Mead Moon – DETERMINATION CHARM

Book of Shadows

 DETERMINATION CHARM

This charm uses the power of the elements to give yourself added energy to carry on in your quest for a better life. Like four Goddesses, who are sisters, the elements each have their own unique quality that is powerful by itself, but when combined, become even more divinely powerful.

You will need a piece of carnelian and a red candle.

Wash the carnelian in cool water for at least a minute before using it as a charm. Draw a circle of light and call in the elements. Light the red pillar candle, and dedicate it to the four sisters:

Sisters of the earth, wind, fire, and water

Let your light shine bright tonight

With the piece of carnelian in your power hand, move to the north point of the circle, and call out:

Divine sister of earth

Give me strength.

Moving to the east point, call out:

Divine sister of air

Give me hope.

Moving to the south point, call out:

Divine sister of fire

Give me creativity.

Moving to the west point, call out:

Divine sister of water,

Give me love.

Now that the piece of carnelian has been programmed with the power of the four sisters and their corresponding elements, keep it near you as a reminder of your internal strength and determination. When you are done, bid farewell to the elements and pull up the circle. Allow the candle to safely burn down.

The Witches Magick for the 10th day of the Mead Moon – Mead Moon Dream Bath

Mead Moon Dream Bath

Buttermilk encourages a smooth and creamy complexion. Just before you go to sleep, take this dream bath. Use this bath to empower, enrich and uplift you.

For this spell, you will need one-quarter cup of buttermilk powder, six drops of jasmine-scented oil, and one-quarter cup of sea salt.
As you stir all the ingredients into the bathwater chant:

Moon of Mead, empower my dreams.

Now, step into the bathwater. Soak for several minutes. As you do, say three times:

May the powers of the Mead Moon
Empower, enrich, and uplift me
By the lunar light, so shall it be!

Anoint yourself with a few drops of the scented oil after you towel off. Imagine being empowered, enriched, and uplifted by the natural powers of the moon and stars. Continue doing this as you drift to sleep.

The Witches Magick for the 9th Day of the Mead Moon – Ceroscopy Wax Divination

Unicorn Comments & Graphics

CEROSCOPY WAX DIVINATION

Ceroscopy uses liquid wax poured slowly into a vessel filled with cold water. The wax shapes represent the answer.

You will need a small pillar candle, a ballpoint pen, and a bowl of cold water.

At midnight, write your question on the pillar candle using the ballpoint pen. Light the candle and say three times:

May the powers of this candle reveal the answer tonight.

Allow the candle to burn for about an hour. All the while, think about your question. Ponder the question from every angle. Now, fill the bowl full of cold water. Focus on your question, and carefully and slowly pour the melted wax from the pillar candle into the bowl of water. Look at the shapes the wax makes. What do they remind you of? Make an entry in your journal as to your question and to the shapes of the wax. Snuff out the candle when you are done. Relight the candle tomorrow evening, and allow it to safely burn down.

The Witches Magick for the 7th day of the Mead Moon – Phyllorhodomancy Spell

Phyllorhodomancy Spell

In ancient Greece, rose leaves were used for divination. This is called phyllorhodomancy.

After dark, go outside and pick a rose leaf. Thank the bush for the leaf. Now, take a few deep breaths to clear your mind and center your awareness. Think of a question regarding love that you have. Keep it simple. Focus your attention on the question for a couple of minutes. Next, slap the rose leaf on your hand by holding it in your power hand and slapping it onto the flat palm of your receiving hand firmly. A good clear sound is a positive “Yes” answer. A muffled sound is a “No” answer.

The Witches Magick for the 6th Day of the Mead Moon – Star Guide Meditation

Native American Comments & GraphicsStar Guide Meditation

Reconnect with your own stellar heritage with this meditation. Your stellar self acts as a source of energy, love, creativity and enlightenment.

After dark, recline outdoors on the grass or a lounge chair somewhere safe, where you will not be disturbed and where you can clearly see the stars. If it’s not possible to go outdoors, do this next to a window or door indoors where you can see the stars.

Draw a circle and call in the elements. Ask a favorite deity to enter your circle for guidance and protection. Think of one question that is pressing upon you right now, a question you really want to know the answer to. Take three deep breaths by breathing in to the count of three, holding your breath for three counts, and then exhaling completely. In your mind’s eye, imagine ascending a beautiful ladder of white light to the stars. With each step you take, you feel more and more comfortably relaxed and in tune with your surroundings. Select a star to focus on. Flow ever upward, higher and higher to the star you have selected. Imagine walking toward the star, closer and closer. Before you is what looks to be a holographic gate made entirely of energy. You find yourself walking through the gate, and as you do so, you sense a subtle popping feeling.

Once you move through the stargate, there is a being of light waiting for you. This being is your star guide and will answer your question. Ask your question, then listen for the thought-form reply. As you listen to your star guide, you can see the stars all around you. They are alive with energy, living beings who are on their own path of evolution. Once you have received your answer, thank your star guide and descend the ladder of white light.

When you are finished, pull up the circle, bid farewell to the elements, and clap your hands three times soundly. Go back inside, and lie down in bed. As you drift to sleep, imagine yourself drifting up toward the stars. In the morning, write down your dreams in your journal.

The WItches Magick for the 4th Day of the Mead Moon – Dragonfly Faery Magic

4th of July Comments
Dragonfly Faery Magic

Cast this spell in honor of Lorialet, the enchanted son of the Greek goddess Selene and the Greek God Endymion. He is a poet, musician, and sorcerer, who lives on mountain tops, wooded glens, and next to forest lakes, and constantly dreams of the moon. Cats love him, and butterflies and dragonflies travel with him wherever he goes.

For this spell, you will need a body of water and a dragonfly sticker. Magic shops, the Internet, New Age gift, and health food stores are places to find dragonfly stickers.

After dark when the moon has risen, go outdoors and sit next to a body of water such as a creek, river, pond, lake, or ocean. Recite a special poem you have written for Lorialet and the dragonflies, or you can recite one of the following: My favorite is a passage from the song “Dragonfly” by Clutch. Other are a-ha’s “Dragonfly” lyrics and Jimi Hendrix’s “Spanish Castle Magic.” Put a copy of the lyrics where you can read them before you go to sleep to encourage dragonfly dreams. Dragonflies are messengers of the Gods. Affix the sticker on your car, refrigerator, or bathroom mirror to remind you of the dragonfly magic all around you.

The WItches Magick for the 3rd Day of the Mead Moon – Over the Moon Spell

Witchy Comments

 Over the Moon Spell

Most everyone is familiar with the nursery rhyme: “Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon; the little dog laughed to see such sport, and the dish ran away with the spoon.” Cast this spell to empower your bond with your pet.

For this spell, you will need your cat or dog, lavender essential oil, and a few drops of lemon juice.

After dark, sit with your pet so you can see the night sky. Say the nursery rhyme to your cat or dog. Sit quietly together for a few minutes. Rub behind his or her ears. Tell your pet how much she or he means to you, how much your pet is appreciated. Say three times:

Blessed be [say your pet’s name]
Thank you for your loving company.

Now, pour a few drops of lavender essential oil and a few drops of lemon juice into your hand, and rub it onto your cat’s or dog’s fur. Don’t get this mixture near your pet’s head, mouth, nose, or eyes. As you rub, say quickly (because your pet will take off like a rocket once she or he gets scent of the lavender oil:

May the God and Goddess protect and bless you always!

The Witches Magick for the 2nd Day of the Mead MoonKIND BROWNIE SPELL

KIND BROWNIE SPELL

Brownies live in England and Scotland (Urisks), and are solitary faeries. They are one to two feet tall, with brown, wizened faces and hair that grows all over their body like teddy bears. They usually go naked but occasionally wear hooded brown cloaks. Brownies come out at night to do the chores when everyone is asleep, and are gone by the first cock call. They take care of the household pets, do unfinished jobs such as mowing; threshing; milking; shearing; tending the pets, livestock, and farm animals; shoe making; sewing; and cleaning.

Brownies can bring good fortune to your family provided you treat them well. Give them food and drink such as milk and cookies to win their favors, but never give them gifts or wages. To encourage a helpful brownie to come to your home, cast this spell tonight.

You will need a broom, a glass of milk, and a plate of cookies.

Before you go to sleep, sweep your front doorway and back doorway clean. Also sweep your fireplace or woodstove hearth clean if you have one. Put the glass of milk and cookies on the counter or table in your kitchen. Say:

I offer this milk and these cookies
to the kind and helpful brownies
who may grace my home tonight.
As you drift to sleep, repeat over and over:
May the kind and helpful brownies
grace my dreams and my home tonight.

In the morning, write everything you recall from your dreams in your journal. Return any remaining milk and cookies to the earth as an offering to the brownies. As you do, say:
Thank you, kind brownies.
May you always be blessed!

The Witches Magick for the 1st Day of the Mead Moon – Mead Moon Ritual

Moon & Witch Comments & Graphics
Mead Moon Ritual

Also known as the Lover’s or Honey Moon, the Mead Moon is the time when the flowers are blooming and the honey is brewing. One of the earliest alcoholic beverages, mead is made from fermenting honey. The word mead derives from amethyst, a stone long said to have the power to inhibit intoxication. This Mead Moon ritual is about bringing enchantment, health, rebirth, success, and strength into your life.
You will need fresh flowers, a piece of amethyst, your beloved, and two glasses of mead (or vanilla tea with a teaspoon of honey for a non-alcoholic substitute).

After dark, draw a circle of light and call in the elements. Place the fresh flowers on the altar as a gift to the Goddess:

Divine Lady of the flowers
Every night your blossoms
brighten my life.

Using your breath, clear the amethyst of any energy, then program it with sensations of divine love in a meadow of perfect peace. Place the amethyst on the altar in front of the flowers while saying:

Goddess and God of the Mead Moon
I give to you the stone of sacred love

You and your beloved each take one of the glasses of mead, and begin toasting to all the Goddesses and Gods for their help in making life good this year. Finish by toasting your beloved and the sacredness of the relationship that you have together. Celebrate the fullness of the Mead Moon with a night of lovemaking. In the morning, bid farewell to the elements and pull up the circle.

Moon & Witch Comments & Graphics Celebrating Other Spirituality 365 Days A Year – Hay Season and Naga Panchami

Moon & Witch Comments & Graphics
June 1 and 2

Hay Season and Naga Panchami

Happiness is not a reward – it is a consequence.
Suffering is not a punishment – it is a result.

-Ralph Ingersoll

For the agricultural communities, this is the beginning of hay season. Spells for continued fair weather are needed to dry out the hay and maturing growing corn.

If the first of July it be rainy weather,
‘Twil rain, more or less, for four weeks together.
-Charles Kightly, Perpetual Almanack of Folklore

In Nepal, this is the festival of Naga Panchami, devoted to the Snake-Gods called Nagas. Early on, people lined the streets for the elaborate parades featuring live serpents and flamboyantly costumed participants. Sacred snake images are adorned with flower garlands and displayed on religious altars. As the sun sets, offerings are made at snake holes for the continued fertility of the people and the land.

The serpent has long been a phallic symbol of the procreative male force. Living beneath the earth, it possesses knowledge of the Underworld and the mystical powers of transformation. In many cultures, it is a symbol of death and destruction as well as resurrection. The serpent also represents the Kundalini force, the potential of light and darkness, and serves as a guardian of thresholds and temples-the protector of esoteric knowledge.

The Witches Spell for the 29th Day of the Dyad Moon – Norns Moon Spell

Mermaid Comments & Graphics  Norns Moon Spell

Cast this spell to gain the wisdom and knowledge of the Norns.

You will need a pair of scissors, a ball of white yarn or string, and three white stones.

After the moon rises, go outdoors where it is private and safe, and where you will not be disturbed, such as your backyard, patio, or balcony. Draw a magic circle and call in the elements. Invite the Norns, the spinners of fate and destiny, into your circle. Use the scissors to cut nine arm-length pieces of yarn. Tie three pieces together, and then three of the other pieces together, and then the remaining three pieces together, so you have three arm-lengths remaining. Each time you tie the yarn, repeat:

Ladies of Fate, Three Great Norns of destiny
Please fill me with your knowledge and wisdom,
blessed be!

Wind the three lengths of knotted yarn around the three white stones, one length per stone. As you do, say three times:

Ladies of Fate, Three Great Norns of destiny
Please fill me with your knowledge and wisdom,
blessed be!

When you are finished, thank the Norns, bid farewell to the elements, and pull up the circle. Put the stones under a favorite tree, in a thriving flower pot, or under a flowering bush to encourage the Norns to share their knowledge and wisdom with you.

The Witches Magick for the 25th Day of the Dyad Moon – Moon Tree Love Spell

Fantasy Comments & Graphics
Moon Tree Love Spell

In 1971, the astronauts of Apollo 14 took tree seeds with them into lunar orbit. Later the seeds were germinated on earth, and planted around the United States. There are now more than 400 of these “Moon Trees” that are growing strong across the country. Use this spell to draw the magic of the moon into your bedroom and lovemaking tonight and every night.

For this spell, you will need a strong tree, a water bottle filled with water, and a 69-inch length of white yarn, ribbon, or string.

After the moon rises, stand under the tree, and address its trunk and branches:

Blessed tree, may our love be as strong as thee!

Call out the name of the one you love and who loves you. Now, walk clockwise around the tree three times. As you do, sprinkle drops of water from the bottle around the tree base, and say three times:

Blessed tree, may our love be as strong as thee!

Again, call out the name of your beloved. Tie the white yarn around the tree trunk. Now place your palms on the tree, and say:

Blessed tree, in summer, fall, winter, and spring
May our love be strong by earth, air, fire, and sea
May our union be sweet, romantic, and loving, blessed be!

Once more, call out the name of the one you love. Now, lean against the tree and place both palms face down against the bark. Take a few minutes to think about the person you love. Close your eyes for a couple of minutes, and imagine he or she coming to you and telling you how much you are loved and adored. Imagine your lover showing you how much you are loved. Take several deep, complete breaths to clarify the image and sensation. When you are done, untie the yarn. Retie the white yarn to your bedpost to bring the magic of the silvery moon into your bedroom and lovemaking. As you do, say:

May our love be strong by earth, air, fire, and sea
May our union be sweet, romantic, and loving, blessed be!

The Witches Magick for the 24th day of the Dyad Moon – Palace of the Moon Love Spell

Egyptian Comments & GraphicsPalace of the Moon Love Spell

“The Goddess of the Palace of the Moon,” in Chinese folklore, is a story that depicts the enchanting magic of faery queens. The Faery Queen, Chang-O, sits on a golden throne, arrayed in snowy whiteness, radiating brightness. She dazzles the eyes with her halo of light. Angels with rainbow wings hover softly over her and form a canopy above her. A host of faery beings stand before her, all robed in light. This spell uses the enchanting faery magic of the faery queens to help you create a magical lovemaking circle for romance.

To cast this spell, you will need white clothes, your lover, sensuous music, a bath, your favorite scented oil, and three candles (white, pink, and red).

Begin after dark. Put white linens on your bed, and set aside white robes, lingerie, pajamas, or something similar that is all white to wear after your bath. Take a hot bath or shower with your lover and anoint each other with your favorite scented oil. Sandalwood or vanilla oil would both be excellent selections. Put on your white clothes.

Set up your altar in your bedroom with a white candle, a pink candle, and a red candle, in a row from left to right, in that order. Draw a circle of white light, and call in the elements. Now turn on the sensuous music. Light the white candle, and dedicate it to your favorite love goddess. Light the pink candle from the white candle. Dedicate it to your lover. Light the red candle from the pink candle flame, and dedicate it to your favorite love god. Hold your lover’s hands in yours and say together:

In this Palace of the Moon
It’s you with me and me with you
May our love shine brightly tonight
Me with you and you with me
In the divine light of the night
Sweet Lady and Lord, Blessed Be!

Allow the candles to burn down safely, and let the magick of the night enchant you. Leave the circle down as you make love and sleep. In the morning, bid farewell to the elements and pull up the circle. You can also perform this spell solo by adapting the incantation.

The Witches Magick for the 18th Day of the Dyad Moon – LAPIS BLUE DREAM

LAPIS BLUE DREAM CHARM

Use this charm to make your deepest wish come true.

Lapis lazuli means stone (Lapis) and blue (azul). The master painters of yesteryear used pulverized lapis lazuli to create a rich ultramarine blue paint. Many of the early paintings of the Mother Mary were done using this vibrant blue paint.

For this charm, you will need a piece of lapis lazuli, a clean sheet of paper, bright blue paint, and a paint brush.

After dark, hold the piece of lapis lazuli in your power hand. Merge with the divine, and say:

Lapis blue, may my deepest wish come true!

State your deepest wish. Put the sheet of paper on your altar, and paint your dearest wish with the paint and paintbrush on the paper. Keep it simple. Fold the paper in half, and in half once more. Put the folded paper on the altar, with the lapis lazuli stone on top of the paper. Keep it there until your wish comes true. Every now and again, hold the lapis and the folded paper in your power hand, and repeat:

Lapis blue, my deepest wish is coming true!
