Your Daily Horoscopes for Friday, July 24th

Aries Horoscope

The Sun and Mercury are in a fellow Fire sign, dear Aries, and these positions tend to strengthen your confidence and increase the desire to make connections, express yourself, and enjoy life. Your romantic and/or creative nature is strongly stimulated now. Venus, which rules values, love, and resources in a general sense, and partnerships and money for you more specifically, is turning retrograde tomorrow. This points to a period of review of any or all of these things as you reassess whether or not your needs are being met. You may turn to the past in order to better understand the present, but because you may feel a little stuck there, it is not the best time for pushing forward with new plans. Uranus, in your sign for some time, is also about to turn retrograde. Both energies are strong now, but as you adjust to the change of direction, you may not be seeing things clearly. The next few days are better for taking in than taking definite action.

Taurus

With both the Sun and Mercury now traveling through your home and family sector, dear Taurus, the more focused and relaxed pace tends to become you. Indeed, you are often quite happy dealing with your domestic chores and surrounding yourself with familiar people and things. Even so, there are times when you may feel under the radar or not fully understood by the rest of the world. Even so, you may very well choose to work harder at finding peace with those closest to you. With Venus about to turn retrograde and soon enough re-entering this same sector of your chart, you are likely to reconsider recent moves, relationships, and events as you get into better touch with what it is that you need and want, particularly from family and home life.

Gemini

The Sun and Mercury cycles that you’ve recently begun are good for branching you out a little more, communicating, and making connections, dear Gemini. You’re likely to be running more errands than usual, moving about physically and mentally, managing your daily life more effectively, and communicating with people more frequently. You may be craving changes of scenery more often now. Venus and Uranus are moving towards retrograde stations, making the next few days a little confusing. However, their retrograde cycles are good for getting into closer touch with your desires, needs, and values. During this transition period, try to hold off on important conversations and decisions if possible. Wait until perceptions are clearer.

Cancer

The Sun transits your solar second house until August 23rd and Mercury transits this same sector of your chart until August 7th, dear Cancer. Money and possessions can assume more importance in your life in the coming weeks, and so can matters of comfort, sensual enjoyment, and activities that remind you of the simple pleasures in life. While life is settling down a little, you tend to be looking around you, accounting for what you have and what you may need, so that if you feel wanting, you’re more likely to want to fill the gap. It’s a good time for taking charge of money, and care of your possessions. Venus is reaching a station, as it will turn retrograde tomorrow. Uranus will station the following day, so that perceptions can be a little askew just for now. Avoid jumping to conclusions. Today is strong, however, for imagination and creative pursuits.

Leo

The Sun is in your sign until August 23rd and Mercury is in Leo as well, until August 7th, dear Leo. Venus will return to your sign on July 31st through retrograde motion. There is a lot of attention on you now! You are in the spotlight, not necessarily for what you do or what you have accomplished, but for who you are. You are projecting more strength and people take notice. Venus turns retrograde tomorrow, and then re-enters your sign for the remainder of its retrograde starting July 31st and running until September 26th, and this can point to a period of some introspection and a re-examination of what and who you value. Today and the next two days are days of shifting, and this can mean some confusion about these things until you get into the swing of things. As such, it’s probably better to delay important decisions.

Virgo

More time set aside for rest, introspection, healing, and meditation may be necessary with the Sun in your privacy sector until August 23rd, Mercury in the same sector of your solar chart until August 7th, and tomorrow’s retrograde turn of Venus in your sign. You are more naturally inclined to pull back a little from situations that are excessively demanding or competitive. You are not as quick to talk of your plans or to make definite decisions. While Venus’ retrograde cycle lasts from tomorrow until September 6th, it will occur for the most part in the sign of Leo, even though it begins in your sign. This can point to a false start of sorts for some of you, particularly related to relationships or money matters. Today and the next couple of days can be a little disorienting if things are moving too fast, and there could be some miscommunications to deal with as a result.

Libra

Your need to be with others or to feel part of a community or network is stronger now with the Sun in your friendship sector until August 23rd and Mercury in the same sector of your solar chart until August 7th, dear Libra. New ideas for the future might be hatched during this cycle. They’re still very fresh, and some might be scrapped later, but there is a birthing process of sorts going on right now. While today is strong for imagination and creation, there can be some confused signals occurring with both Venus and Uranus moving towards their retrograde stations. Both of these affect your relationships, and because Venus is your ruler, you can also be feeling a bit torn between wanting company and needing some time to sort things through. Take your time on decisions during these shift days as you learn to accustom yourself to the strong energy for review and examination, as you’ll have a lot to learn over the coming weeks about your needs and wants.

Scorpio

In the coming weeks, your major focus turns to professional matters, ambitions, material and social success, and your reputation, dear Scorpio. Depending on your current position in life, this can be about your long-term goals and general plans for your life. Performance and responsibilities come into stronger focus, and you’re bound to find that you are more accountable for the things you do and don’t do. There can be increased mental activity and communications to and about your goals. Others take special note of what you have to say. There is strong energy for creative and romantic feelings. However, with Venus and Uranus both approaching their retrograde stations, much can be left up in the air for now. Their retrograde cycles are strong for reacquainting yourself with your needs, wants, and desires, but the shift can be disorienting, so avoid major decisions just for now.

Sagittarius

In the coming weeks, there is a stronger focus on exploring, enjoying, and experiencing life than there has been in recent times, dear Sagittarius, and you definitely need it! The Sun is transiting your adventure sector until August 23rd, and Mercury is in the same house of your solar chart until August 7th, and these influences tend to be like a pick-me-up. You are a little happier, more confident, and a touch braver as well. Venus is about to turn retrograde and Uranus will soon follow. This can point to a few days of transition energy, which can be a little confusing, but only until you acclimatize to the changes of direction. In fact, the period ahead is good for getting to the heart of a relationship matter, and even more importantly, what you truly value and need for yourself.

Capricorn

With the Sun now shining its light on some of the things that are typically hidden from view, dear Capricorn, and Mercury in the same sector of your chart as well, you are bound to learn a lot about your inner motivations, and about the world around you. You are less concerned with being heard and understood than you are interested in understanding the workings of people and situations around you at a deeper level. Soon, Venus will return to this sector of your chart as well, but this time in retrograde motion, making it an especially important time for exploring some of your own fears or negative attitudes. It will also be a time for reviewing financial matters, particularly those shared with a partner and money or resources that come in as a form of support.

Aquarius

The Sun and Mercury are now pulling your attention to close relationships, dear Aquarius, and the recent strong focus on work and routines lifts. Even though these are still important things to you, they are no longer on the front burner. Adjusting yourself to social situations, to others’ agendas, and to your personal environment is a bigger concern now. Self-expression through your relationships is important now. You might seek out others for their moral support. Even if you don’t end up following advice, you’re likely to enjoy hearing other points of view before coming to a conclusion. Venus is approaching a retrograde station, and so is your ruler, Uranus. This makes the coming few days a short period of transition as you get yourself accustomed to the changes of direction, but the retrograde periods themselves are cycles of review. You can find yourself examining the past in order to better understand your present needs.

Pisces

With the Sun and Mercury in your solar sixth house, until August 23rd and August 7th respectively, you can experience renewed energy and motivation for work and routines, dear Pisces. Venus will return to this sector of your chart on July 31st, this time in retrograde motion, adding even more emphasis to these areas of life. Take every opportunity that arises to work on greater self-awareness, improvement of self-care and health programs, and dealing with detail work. You are more aware of your limits, and your focus is largely on correcting details and solving problems. Try to avoid the more negative side of these influences, which involves fretting or stressing over less important things and failing to see the bigger picture. Today brings beautiful energy for creating something special and unique, even if these are only in the idea stages.

An Overview of Your Love Horoscope for the Weekend of July 24 – 26

Weekend Love Horoscope

July 24 – 26: Looking back

The Moon will be in Scorpio until Sunday morning, so it appears that the better half of the weekend will leave you emotionally charged. You might yearn to go deep with your lover, but at the same time you may feel a certain wall that either you or your sweetie has up. If this happens, recognize it as a wall of self-protection that may not even need to exist. Sometimes we put up defenses in response to previous heartbreak or betrayal. The person you’re with now may have absolutely nothing to do with the emotional reaction you’re experiencing.

Love planet Venus turns retrograde on Saturday morning making things even more unclear in the love department. You appear more focused on the past than the present when it comes to love this weekend. Ask yourself why…

This Weekend’s Romantic Rating*

* Heart ratings are based on the lunar cycle. They range from low to full, with low indicating a rocky weekend for romance and full indicating plenty of passionate potential.

25th July – 6th September 2015: Venus Retrograde (mostly) in Leo

25th July – 6th September 2015: Venus Retrograde (mostly) in Leo

Independently Entwined

Whilst Venus spends the vast majority of this retrograde period in Leo, she actually shifts direction in Virgo. In this detail lies hidden the key to her entire retrograde journey: it’s all about the nuances, not the bigger picture. Venus in Leo is flamboyant and demonstrative, passionate and radiant, but in the subtle shaping hands of Virgo she knows that the most reliable self-confidence is born of detailed self-knowledge: familiarity with the twists and turns of one’s psyche and their influence upon our well-being and relationships. When retrograde, Venus reveals the underbelly of those relationships, inviting us to see what may otherwise be hidden. She uncovers the subtle dynamics which shape our interactions with each other whilst reminding us the most important relationship is with the self.

Venus retrograde in Leo needs little from the external world. She is sure of her inherent worth, requiring no external affirmation. This can both help and hinder relationships. We may be so sure of our position that other people pale into insignificance against the backdrop of our self-assuredness. Alternatively, confident self-possession may enable us to willingly give completely to another without in any way diminishing our own sense of self. Knowing that the love of the divine flows through our veins enables us to give of that love as required, confident that our stores are forever replenished by Sacred Source. For those in need of this love and affection our attention comes as a healing force kindling their own self-accepting love.

The challenge of this Venus retrograde is to bridge the gap between isolated self-reliance and nourishing interdependence. We do this by embracing those Virgoan nuances. Venus cannot live only within and remain happy, healthy and whole. She needs connection, comfort, affection and attachment to thrive. Venus fans the flames of love and brings us together to share it. She naturally reaches out to connect, not within to detach. If we find ourselves isolated during this retrograde passage, disconnected from those with whom we seek intimacy, Venus encourages us to consider where we may have become so self-sufficient we believe we need nothing and no one. Such a belief is born not of a sovereign self but a besieged one, shielded by defensive walls built to avoid the vulnerability of need, dependency and desire. Venus invites us to wonder how we secured our isolation and how we could possibly need no one in a world of seven billion interdependent people. She asks us to reflect upon issues of dependency: the labour of strangers which ensures water from our kitchen tap; the endeavours of our ancestors whose legacy we live today; the toil of those who produce the food we need to survive. No person is an island, she reminds us. In an interconnected world dependence is not a failing but a fact, not a weakness but a fundamental truth, the realisation of which may just save us all.

It is time to explore our dependency, to face the thoughts and feelings triggered when we recognise our very life rests in the hands of another. In truth we each hold the other in our hands, nourishing their blossoming or crushing their delicate unfolding petals with our own need to control. We each owe a huge duty of care to the other as much as to ourselves and must be willing to embrace each day the vulnerability of inter-dependency for our own well-being and survival.

Venus reminds us that self-reliance is only a strength when it enables giving and receiving in equal measure. We will need it in the coming months to ride the ups and downs of change and stand firm in the face of challenge which threatens to steer us off course. But we equally need others to ride alongside us, cheering each other on when the going gets tough, sharing supplies for the journey and each other’s dreams. We are not islands in a sea of self-protection but instead one life, living through each of us to nourish and nurture itself. As Venus journeys back through Leo she invites us to know ourselves as each other, to celebrate dependence and to honour the truth that we each hold the life of another in our hearts and in our hands.

WTF Is Going On This Month?

WTF Is Going On This Month?

Holy Cosmic Shizzle!

This lunar energy is stirring things up! The cosmos is clearing away your emotional entanglements, and it’s intense!

It might feel like Mercury Retrograde, but it’s not. Still, miscommunication and technology snafus abound!

Let There Be Light!

This was to be expected this month, but fear not – things are getting brighter. We move from lunar-ruled Cancer to sunny Leo tomorrow, and Mercury will soon follow suit.

The moon has had such a strong pull on our emotions, it could feel a bit overwhelming at times. This is what happens when you have a full moon on the first and last days of the month. Full moons bring up unconscious buried emotions. Couple that with July 2015 being a 15 Universal Month (7 +2+0+1+5 = 15) and you’re bound to see your shadow more often.

15, in numerology, is another vibration of the number 6 (1+5 = 6). In the Tarot, 6 is the number of The Lovers. 15 illuminates the shadow side of love. Not in a scary way – simply to help you bring light to dark places, and love those parts of yourself you fear other people won’t like or accept. When you hide parts of yourself for fear of rejection, you are not allowing others to love you completely as you are.

This lesson is highlighted for you ALL year, because 2015 is the 15th year of our century and has the vibration of the number 15 as one of our main frequencies. You’ll be learning how to love and honor yourself in ALL of your relationships.

Love Rules

This will be accentuated even more as Venus, our planet of love, goes retrograde on Saturday through the end of August. Venus attracts love and money into your life as a reflection of your self-worth.

All of your relationships and circumstances in your life will mirror your relationship with yourself. If you’re hiding or diminishing your power in any way, you’re going to have to deal with that during this Venus cycle. The Universe wants you to have the courage to be the biggest and best version of yourself you can possibly be! Let yourself shine without dimming your light!

When I looked at the astrology and numerology for 2015, way back in January, it was clear to me that RELATIONSHIPS would drive the energy this year. Relationships to your partner, family members, co-workers, colleagues – all of it. By claiming power in healthy partnerships, and living passionately, you’re sure to thrive.

Lady A’s Spell of the Day – Banishing Grief Spell

Banishing Grief Spell

This spell is said to help one let go of painful feelings of grief. It is for those times in life when it seems impossible to feel joy again, such as after losing someone close to you.

Items Needed:
A smoky quartz gemstone
Bowl of water
Three tablespoons of sea salt

The Spell:
Begin by holding the stone in your power hand. See your grief in your mind’s eye. Visualize the grief moving from within yourself and through your hand to the stone. As you do this, say:

Banishing stone,
Fill yourself with my grief,
so that I may feel joy again,
So be it, blessed be!

Stirring counterclockwise, mix the sea salt into the bowl of water, then add the smoky quartz stone. Swish the stone around three times in a counterclockwise motion. Leave the stone in the water for a few minutes, then take the stone outside and safely throw it as far as you can away from yourself.

Let’s Talk Witch – Adapting A Spell for Your Own Needs

Adapting A Spell for Your Own Needs

Today you will find many books on spellcraft that contain instructions for casting spells. You can also purchase ready-made kits that include all the ingredients necessary for a spell. Nonetheless, if those instructions or ingredients don’t make sense to you or break your personal ethics, the spell will not work.

The best spells are those you create yourself or adapt to suit your own purpose. The process of collecting ingredients, preparing them, and designing the steps of your spell focuses your mind on your intention and adds energy to the spell. Sometimes you must adapt a tried and true spell because you can’t get the designated components. For example, if you lived in New England and used ash leaves or bark in protection spells but then moved to Texas, you would not be able to find such plant life; you could then compensate by substituting another ingredient, such as basil.

With the pervious example in mind, it’s easy to see that there will be many times when a Witch or Wiccan will want to adapt a spell or devise oone of her own. How do you begin the process? Adapting a spell is far easier than creating one, so let’s start there. When a Witch examines a spell, she looks for continuity and comprehensiveness.
Do the spell target your goal through its words, actions and components?

Does it do so on a multisensual level (involving your hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell)?

Does every part of the spell make sense and excite your higher sentiments?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, try to find a substitute. To illustrate, many old love spells call for blood as components. But modern awareness of disease (or squeamishness) might make blood inappropriate. Instead a witch could use red wine. The red juice from crushed raspberries, strawberries, or passion fruit (fruit associated with love) would also work well. In this manner, she can still follow the basic spell while replying on components that are safe and support her ethics.

Choosing your own ingredients when adapt a spell, rather than following a prescribed formulas allows you to fine-tune a spell to your specific needs. Once you understand the basic natures and symbolism of various components, you can mix and match them to create exactly the right combination of energies.

Celebrating Other Spirituality 365 Days A Year – Cheyenne Frontier Days

July 24 – 30

Cheyenne Frontier Days

This six-day annual event is the remnant of the old Mexican-American American rodeo contests held in the American Southwest shortly after the Civil War. They flourished in Texas and by 1880 were nationally popularized by touring, circus-like extravaganzas ganzas such as Buffalo Bill Cody’s “Wild West Show.”

Established in 1897, Cheyenne Frontier Days has become an elaborate folk event and developed traditions of its own. For example, in 1987 the festival treated more than 30,000 hungry spectators to its free breakfast of pancakes, ham, and coffee. The batter for the more than 100,000 pancakes was mixed in a cement truck so that no one would have to wait in line for more than 20 minutes.

The food was prepared by the 390-member Cheyenne Kiwanis Club and included 3,600 pounds of pancake mix, 1,130 pounds of butter, 300 gallons of syrup, 2,800 pounds of ham, and 520 gallons of coffee. That year, people from more than 50 states and 20 foreign countries enjoyed breakfast during Frontier days. In addition to the great food, Frontier Days celebrates with old time rodeo contests that include trick-riding, riding, roping, bronco-busting, and pony races.

Friday’s Witchery

Friday’s Witchery

Love magick is a perennial popular topic. However, there is more to this topic than meets the eye. There are many enchanting layers here for us to explore on this day of the week. What about creating a loving home, or producing a loving and nurturing family? What about keeping your intimate relationships vital and on track? How about promoting happy, healthy, and enduring friendships? See, there is more to be considered than just the “You shall be mine…” type of fictional love spell.

Don’t forget that many of the deities associated with Fridays are also parents. So, yes, while this is the day to work on romance, sex, and love spells, there is additional magick to be considered here, which makes Fridays a more well-rounded and bigger opportunity for witchery than many folks ever truly realize. The truest, strongest magick always comes from the heart.

Sympathy Comments

Divine Goddess, Almighty God,

Be with the individuals in Louisiana in

This tragic time of sorrow and grief

Soothe their battered spirits and souls

Enfold them in your compassionate arms

Even though it is difficult, help them to begin

to learn to live with their loss

Help them move forward as their loved ones

Would want

And let the pain grow less as time passes

Let them keep their loved ones alive in their heart,

The loving memories and moments they shared are

All so precious now.

Bless them with your love

And watch over them

Bless the ones that were lost,

Guide them to your open and loving arms.

For those injured,

Bless them with a speedy recovery.

Bless them all, Divine Mother & Father,

In their darkest hour.

So Mote It Be.

Magickal Goody Of The Day – Long, Hard Day, Try This Soothing Foot Soak

herbsinbootle2

~Foot Soak~

Here is a simple and relaxing foot soak recipe. I make this often as gifts and have yet to hear a complaint!

Ingredients:

20 small or 10 medium sized SMOOTH rocks, those iridescent glass rocks like they sell in various stores–try dollar stores, many times they have them inexpensively–to put in vases to hold plants and if all else fails, use marbles!

Heavy Duty, Sturdy Plastic Tub

1-2 of your favorite tea bags

2-4 cups (depending on size and depth of your tub) very warm water

Put rocks in tub, and add warm water and tea bags. Allow tea bags to steep and water to cool, until you are comfortable with the fragrance and water temperature. Immerse feet in the fragrant and relaxing soak. Rub feet gently on rocks, massaging the bottoms of them. This soak is great for tired feet.   After soak: Remove tea bags and allow to dry. Open bags up and remove herbs. Use the herbs either in potpourri or as compost for your garden. Put rocks on a towel and allow to dry, for use the next time you need a relaxing escape!
