A Whole New World – January 2017

A Whole New World – January 2017

Happy New Year, my friend!

There’s so much for us to catch up on, so let’s get right to it.

A Rebirth

The year 2017 numerically is a “1” year (2 + 0 + 1 + 7 = 10, and 10 reduces to 1 + 0 = 1). The number 1 represents the energies of rebirth, a fresh start, and inspired action.

This year will bring with it a great deal of momentum and movement when it comes to new ideas, inventions, and creations.

The intentions, actions, and deeds we are choosing to focus on right now, especially in the earlier part of 2017, will set the tone for what we will attract, create, and experience over the next 9 years.

As we move forward, some things may still feel familiar. But we are on a completely different road now than we were on during the last 9-year cycle.

It may take a bit of time for some to notice this, but those who are sensitive to energy will notice this change quickly.

A “1” year is a time to plant the seeds of our desired intentions, especially for whatever we’d like to create more of.

This is especially true for our creative endeavors, careers, and relationships. It’s true for the ways we choose to show up in the world, and for the ways we take care of ourselves in mind, body and spirit.

Here are some ways we can work with and integrate the energy of “1” to make this year into a time of great joy and personal fulfillment:

  • Embrace Our Power / Become the Leader of Our Life
This is our time to pave the way and birth something new into the world!
We as Lightworkers, empaths, and way-showers are being called to blaze new trails that will bring humanity together.
This is a year of action, when our inner “spark” will be lit again.
  • Taking Inspired Action
Over the past year, many of our dreams, visions, and projects (such as moving to a new location or changing to a new job) may have felt as if they were being put on hold.
If this is the case for you, then this is the year that will change all that.
The key is to be open and available to taking inspired action whenever our Spirit asks us to.
This is why our meditation practice, or anything that helps us create enough space in the heart-mind to hear what our Spirit is telling us, is so important.
  • Allow Yourself to Shine / You are a STAR!
2017 is not the year to hide or play small!
It’s time to fully accept your magnificence, and to let go of the outdated stories and thought patterns your mind has identified with simply to feel safe.
You are a gift from the heavens, and it’s time to align with anything that supports you in sharing your shine!
This can include taking classes, trying something new, or refining your gifts and talents so that you can use them more fully and joyfully.
  • Journal Your Inspirations
2017 is a year of new ideas, and visionary thoughts and inspirations.
As these inspirations come to you, this is an excellent time to write them down, so that you can revisit them at any time, and start making them a part of your everyday life.
This will also lead to your receiving inner guidance to take action in bringing some of these inspirations into reality. Writing down your ideas and intentions helps keep them clear and organized.
A Vortex of Light

Beginning January 1, 2017, the first of several healing vortexes will begin to shower us with an abundance of Light.

This Light will permeate us, going right to the core of every cell, fiber, and molecule of the heart and mind of humanity.

This Light will cleanse old patterns, programs, and ideologies that no longer serve the greater good of humanity. Those who resist this Light will have an extra hard time moving forward, so it’s important for us to send everyone Love now, even those who resist it.

Here are the key January dates for when this vortex of Light will peak—all of these dates reduce to 1.1.1 in numerology:
January 1, 2017
January 10, 2017

January 11, 2017

January 19, 2017
January 28, 2017

“Vortex” is just another word for an energetic doorway or portal.

During these specific dates, the planet will open its arms to receive increasingly greater amounts of Light.

These specific dates provide us with an excellent opportunity to reaffirm what we’d like to create more of in our lives and in the world.

Our intentions will be magnified manyfold by the potency of energy that these days carry.

 Great Changes Ahead

The most important theme during a “1” year is flexibility—staying flexible mentally, emotionally, and physically, so that we can embrace change with greater ease.

Because the most reliable thing we can expect this year is that things will be changing more quickly than ever.

At first, the change may seem quite small. But by the end of 2017, we’ll see that we are in a far different reality than the one we were in during 2016 and before.

The gift in all of this change is that we get to decide which direction we’d like our long-term future to go in.

We get to be the maestro of our life now, rather than being someone who just stands on the sidelines and allows outside influences to shape what their life becomes.

This empowering moment is our time to shine!

As we let these higher energies come in and fill us with a new vision for a new 9-year cycle, we will know that all that is no longer for our higher good is passing away.

This is a time not to resist these new higher energies, but to allow ourselves to integrate this powerful new Light.

We can ask for assistance from the higher realms, and from our guides and higher self, who are always ready to share their wisdom with us.

We can trust that this great river of Light coming to Earth now is leading us to all the joy, peace, prosperity, and fulfillment we have dreamed of and envisioned.

Be gentle with yourself, my friend, as you integrate all that is coming to us now.

And may this new year bless you abundantly in every area of your life!

Till next time,

Miraculously yours,

Emmanuel

Festival of Jana and Janus

On this day the ancient Romans honored Jana, whose name means “luminous sky,” and her husband Janus, the guardian of all passageways. At their festival, a ram was sacrificed to Janus for his continued protection, and Jana was invoked to shine her light on the new year. To the Romans, who believed that the spirit of Janus hovered over all doorways, gates, and passageways, this was a time of great consequence.

The Witches Spell-A-Day for Monday, January 9th – Winds of Renewal

wiccan in the woodsThe Witches Spell-A-Day for Monday, January 9th – Winds of Renewal

Start your day with a refreshing blast of winter air. Focus on renewal, even though it may apear bleak outside. The air element brings change and opportunity. Visualize any specific opportunity or change you’re hoping for, or just remain open to whatever comes your way. Try to actually fee the air on your face several times today. Whisper these words to the wind:
Winter wind, what secretsyou must
keep, blowing in the night, howling
while we sleep.
Winter wind, what promises you
make, stirring morning snow as you
whisper us awake.
Though you may be harsh and cold,
on your breath rewards untold.
Repeat throughout the day, if desired, or again at night before bedtime.

Let’s Talk Witch – Linking up with animals

THE WICCAN WAYLet’s Talk Witch – Linking up with animals

In the most ancient days,
When animals and humans too
were on the earth,
A man could become an animal
if he wanted
And an animal could become a man.
Sometimes they were humans
And sometimes animals
And there was no difference
They all spoke the same language.
(from a Native American poem)

Wicca is closely linked to the animal world – our relatives that live on Mother Earth – on her land, in her waters, in her air, and deep within her earth. Wicca helps us link up to our animal of strength, and we have to learn from them what they transmit to us.

We can learn a great deal from animals, whether by observing them – the physical animal – or by using them as a “pipeline” to transmit messages. The totem animal, which we will try to get to know in the next exercise, helps us with our spiritual development. Animals that we encounter by chance may also be a sign or teach us something. More than once, I have asked the universe a question and an animal that is rarely found in the region where I live enters my house. By channeling with an animal, or by recognizing the message or insight represented by the animal, I received an answer to my question. People who are very in touch with nature and Mother Earth are inclined to receive many messages in this manner, as are people who work to preserve the environment. It would seem that nature “rewards” them with signs and symbols in the form of the animals that cross their paths. Incidentally, the animal does not have to appear physically in front of you: for instance, you might pass a store window or billboard upon which a picture of an animal appears; the insight that it represents will help you at that moment; or you turn on the TV and see the animal whose insight you are waiting for). Channeling with animals is easy and natural; you just have to open your mind to the idea that animals can channel with us in exactly the same way that we, human beings, channel with one another, and channel well telepathically.

Today Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Witch WiccanToday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

The Witches Guide to Monday

GOTHIC WITCHThe Witches Guide to Monday

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise. Get this information from your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac.

About the Greek Goddess, Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth

I'll put a spell on you About the Greek Goddess, Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth

The Greek goddess Hestia watched over domesticity and the family, and was honored with the first offering at any sacrifice made in the home. On a public level, Hestia’s flame was never allowed to burn out. The local town hall served as a shrine for her — and any time a new settlement was formed, settlers would take a flame from their old village to the new one.

Hestia the Hearthkeeper

As the equivalent of the Roman Vesta, Hestia was known as the virginal daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and sister of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. She tended the fires of Mount Olympus, and because of her devotion to her duty as hearthkeeper, she managed to stay out of a lot of the shenanigans of the other Greek gods. She doesn’t appear in too many of the Greek myths or adventure stories.

Hestia took her role as a virgin seriously as well, and in one legend, the lustful god Priapus tried to take advantage of her. As Priapus crept to her bed, planning on raping Hestia, a donkey brayed loudly, waking the goddess.

Her screams woke the other Olympians, much to Priapus’ great embarrassment. In some stories, it is said that Priapus believed Hestia to be a nymph, and that the other gods hid her by turning her into a lotus plant.

Ovid describes the scene in Fasti, saying, “Hestia lies down and takes a quiet, carefree nap, just as she was, her head pillowed by turf. But the red saviour of gardens, Priapos, prowls for Nymphai and goddesses, and wanders back and forth. He spots Vesta… He conceives a vile hope and tries to steal upon her, walking on tiptoe, as his heart flutters. By chance old Silenus had left the donkey he came on by a gently burbling stream. The long Hellespont’s god was getting started, when it bellowed an untimely bray. The goddess starts up, frightened by the noise. The whole crowd fly to her; the god flees through hostile hands.”

Hospitality and Sanctuary
As a hearth goddess, Hestia was also known for her hospitality. If a stranger came calling and seeking sanctuary, it was considered an offense against Hestia to turn the person away. Those who followed her were obligated to provide shelter and food to anyone truly in need. It was also emphasized that female guests given sanctuary were not to be violated — again, a grave offense against Hestia.

Because of her role over the hearth, she was allocated a special role in household ritual. Cicero, the first-century Roman rhetorician, wrote, “The name Vesta comes from the Greeks, for she is the goddess whom they call Hestia. Her power extends over altars and hearths, and therefore all prayers and all sacrifices end with this goddess, because she is the guardian of the innermost things. Closely related to this function are the Penates or household gods.”

Plato points out that Hestia is theologically significant because she is the one who is invoked, and to whom sacrifices are made, before any other deity in ritual.

Honoring Hestia Today
Hestia is traditionally represented by an image of a lamp with a perpetual flame. Today, some Greek reconstructionists, or Hellenic Pagans, continue to honor Hestia and all that she stands for.

To honor Hestia in your own rituals, try one or more of the following ideas:

Early worshipers offered young cows to Hestia, but that may not be practical for you. Instead, offerings of wine, olive oil, and fresh fruit are an acceptable substitute.
Keep a candle dedicated to Hestia burning on your hearth or mantle – if you don’t have a fireplace, your kitchen can be representative of the hearth.
When you’re working on any sort of domestic, home-focused project, honor Hestia with prayers, songs, or hymns.

Blessed Be ...Today is Monday, January 9th, We Celebrate….

Festival of Jana and Janus (Rome)
JANA

Themes: Lunar Energy; Perception

Symbols: The Moon; Silver or Shiny Items

About Jana: This Roman goddess, whose name means “luminous sky,” shines her light on the new year, extending improved insight and awareness as we move ahead. She is strongly associated with Juno and Diana and was often invoked before any other goddess in important undertakings. Traditional offerings to Jana included wine, incense, and barley.

To Do Today: To get Jana’s attention and assistance in any magic you have planned today, wear a piece of silver-toned jewelry or clothing (silver is the color of the moon).

For increased discernment to guide your actions in the months ahead, go outside with a silver-toned coin. Hold this to the moon, saying,

Jana, through the darkness and
through the day,
Light my path and guide my way.

Carry this token with you. Touch it and recite the incantation anytime you feel your judgment wavering.

To improve your awareness of personal lunar attributes (sensitivity, intuition, and the like), burn a stick of jasmine incense or any sweet scent and meditate. Get comfortable, visualizing a full moon pouring its light into the area of your third eye. If it helps your focus, chant

Jana, Juno, Diana, awake in me.

Make notes of the experience and any insights that come.

Hail Baubo, Mother of Laughter,
Great open door upon your belly,
You who open all things,
The woman’s womb, the hard-bound heart,
The eyes shut tight in fear,
The belly full of mirth repressed,
All these you tear open like a child
Reveals their holiday gifts with glee.
We are your packages, your presents,
To undo as you will!
Today no weeping will sound through our halls,
And only mirth shall walk our paths,
O Baubo upon the bridge!
You watch those who walk down to the dark places,
You see those who weep their sorrow
Like Mother Demeter trailing in the dust,
And your great heart of understanding
Knows that no word of sense will ever help
When the shadows are darkest.
Only absurdity, only paradox
The extravagant, the foolish, the incredible,
The outlandish and preposterous,
Only these can make their way
Under the tight doors of desolation,
Through the cracks of misery.
A small thing, laughter, yet without it
We drown in the rivers of our own self-importance.
Hail Baubo, Mother of Mirth!

(One or more who have been chosen to do the work of the ritual come forth to do Baubo’s job. They must shed their clothing, and naked wear faces painted on their bellies, and tell jokes until laughter is rampant. Finish with the chant listed on Ilithyia’s Day.)
