Mugwort offers the benefit of a mild narcotic or sedative properties, it is used for promoting sleeping in cases of insomnia. It offers a very relaxed, tranquil feeling, not to mention if you are outside it is a great insect repellant. Vervain has similar properties, it has commonly been used as a natural remedy for nervous tension, insomnia, anxiety and in some cases depression. Since Mugwort and Vervain are the strongest herbs used in this ointment, the ointment provides a very calming and relaxed feeling.
In the past, the person using this ointment would become so relaxed that they experienced what they called an out of body experience. Just imagine being so relaxed, not a worry in the world, and you slowly drift out of your body into another worldly experience.
As far as myself using it, yes I have. It has relaxed me enough that I have fell asleep. The next morning I woke up feeling like a new person and so very refreshed.
