    September Birthstone – Sapphire

The Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September. The deep blue color is most associated with this stone and was one of the most popular among Christians in earlier biblical times. This mysterious, abyssal depth of blue symbolizes heavenly grace and ancient Persian civilizations thought of the world set in front of a giant sapphire during the night sky.

The word sapphire is derived from the Greek word, “sapheiros”, “means “precious stone”. It is a reflection of constancy, and blesses its owner with clairvoyance, interpretation and insight. In earlier times it was also used to increase the power from Venus, banishing evil thoughts. Kings and priests favored this gemstone the most and saw in the sapphire a token for wisdom and purity. According to the bible, it is believed that the Ten Commandments were written on tablets of sapphire. There are many healing properties of the sapphire from lowering fevers, and curing hearing problems. It can relieve pain from cancer and also burns.

It can be found in Burma, Australia, Kenya, Tanzania, Kasmir, Cambodia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka(once a part of India), where it was mined for as early as the seventh century BC. There are a variety of colors they can be found in other than blue, but include pink, yellow and white as well. These are referred to as “fancy sapphires”. The blue color is given by very small amounts of oxide, iron and titanium within the stone. India boasts having found the most famous and largest of sapphires, weighing in at 563-carats. Its home resides in the American Museum of Natural History. As it is in the same family of the ruby, like the ruby, it is also second to the diamond in hardness, making it an ideal gemstone for jewelry.

It is a traditional gift for the fifth wedding anniversary, and has been given in place of a diamond for an engagement ring. Princess Diana had an engagement ring given to her by Prince Charles, and is also the engagement ring of Princess Anne. When wearing a sapphire, it is believed that it will give to its owner anything their heart desires; wealth, longevity, happiness and health. It also can restore lost property and wealth, alleviating long-term misfortune.

Each month and its season month throughout the year brings in a new cycle. It does not need to be stated that each of these seasons have a renewed energy, and a new meaning. Specific gemstones throughout many centuries have been designated to symbolize our birth-month. These stones are in accordance with the Gregorian or Western Calendar. Earlier civilizations of India and Babylonia viewed gemstones as magical, mystical symbols. They believed that each one possessed a magical attribute or property that connected their significance aligning with the Zodiac calendar.

The 13 Witches Runes

The 13 Witches Runes

The Witches Runes are different from the Elder Futhark Runes in that the Witches Runes are not an alphabet. The Witches Runes are instead a series of symbols that can be used in divination. There are different version of the Witches Runes, one uses 8 symbols, another uses 10 symbols and the one discussed here uses 13 symbols. Cast the Witches Runes the same way your would the Runes.

Many runes originated at first as part of a written language, though they could be used for other uses. This includes the Futhark and Ogham runes. In more – relatively – recent years, they have been used more exclusively in the art of divination. And, with runes, it is very easy to be able to create your own sets. One can use wood tiles, clay, or write on stone. If you are exceptionally crafty, you could even try making them out of metal.

Once you have your runes, I would recommend dedicating or consecrating them. You do not have to do it, of course, but I find that it helps tune the runes to your energy and they will work better for you. If you plan to use them in rituals, you should probably use the same ritual you use to consecrate your ritual tools.

Once the Runes have been consecrated, you can cast the Witches runes on a cloth, or on the table and read the meaning of the runes that are facing upwards only. If the eye is amongst the runes look at where the eye is looking. If there is a rune in front of the eye than that is the rune you must pay extra attention to.
You can also read the Witches runes by picking on rune at a time while you ask the runes a question.

Concentrating on your question, softly cast the runes. Read each rune in relation to your question. The runes closest to you are the most relevant – the furthest away are less. Any runes that land face down so you cannot read them should be discarded as not relevant. Runes that fall very close together have a combined meaning, even if they do not immediately seem compatible.

The Goddess is Alive

Goddess Comments & GraphicsThe Goddess is Alive

Moon shines down upon a sea of Light,
Shifting sands lay singing in the Heart of the Night.
I looked upon a scene that gripped me to the core,
White-clad maidens below were dancing on the shore.

Sweet sounds slipped from moon-lit throats,
Wind whipped hair abound,
Lit by the light within and without,
The Women circled ’round.

As I stood, water engulfed my feet,
My body swayed to your Heavenly Heart beat.
Wind and wave and fire light,
Paled in my mind Earthly delight.

Time slipped by me as you held your embrace,
And windblown spray covered my face.
Protected deep within your Womb,
I could feel the tender pain of Life’s bloom.
Candles flared high as the Dance progressed,

Deep inside with a healing touch you blessed.
All around, wind, wave and fire shouted of your life,
Your light speared deep within, soothing my strife.

Divine Mother, Goddess of Light,
To you I come seeking protection from the night.
Come home to shelter within your arm,
Surrounded by Love, hidden from harm.

Holy Mother, Queen of Heaven and Earth,
From you we all trace our Birth.
Heavenly Goddess, light from above,
Shine down upon us, we pray for your Love.
