Elder’s Meditation of the Day – February 18

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – February 18

“Modern civilization has no understanding of sacred matters. Everything is backwards.”

–Thomas Yellowtail, CROW

Modern civilization says, don’t pray in school; don’t pray at work; only go to church on Sunday. If you don’t believe what I believe, you’ll go to hell. Deviancy is normal. Our role models cheat, drink and run around; these are the people in the news. The news sells bad news; no one wants to hear good news. Kids are killing kids. Victims have little protection. Violence is normal. Leaders cheat and lie. Everything is backwards. We need to pray for spiritual intervention. We need to have guidance from the Creator to help us rebuild our families, our communities and ourselves. Today, I will pray for spiritual intervention from the Great Spirit.

Grandfather, we pray for your help in a pitiful way.

New Moon Report for February 18th – Sun in Pisces

New Moon Report

by Jeff Jawer

Sun in Pisces

Saturday, February 18, 10:18 pm PST, Sunday, February 19, 1:18 am EST

The Sun’s entry into the last sign of the zodiac is a step into synthesis. Its presence in Pisces reminds us that the walls that keep us apart from one another are merely illusions. We are all one in the sea of consciousness where the Fishes swim. This oceanic state can be confusing, of course, since we rely on boundaries to maintain our individual identities. Rather than reinforcing barriers to sustain them or tearing them down completely, adding flexibility to the ego lets us seamlessly flow together and drift apart as desired. Reconnecting with spirituality, nature and one another are its sweetest rewards.

Wishing You A Super Sun Shiny Sunday, dear ones!

Good Afternoon Images, Pictures, Comments
Hey, it’s hard thinking of new greetings each day, lol! I hope you are having a fantastic Sunday. I feel so good today there ought to be a law against it. The glorious Sun is shining, brightly. It looks so warm outside. I watched the Weather Broadcast this morning. The weatherman said it was going to be up in the 60’s and you better get out there and enjoy the day. Well dumb butt, believed him, I always wear shorts around the house. So I figured if it is supposed to be that warm, I would run out in them. I opened the door, not to bad. My big mistake was shutting the door. Good grief! The wind is blowing a gale and I think the wind chill is 10 degrees out there. It’s my own fault, I should know by now, never, ever trust the local weather people.

So I hope your morning is nice and warm. Remember if it looks warm outside, stick your toe out first. Well with that helpful tip, how about we get on with more important matters.

Have a Very Blessed Day!

Affirmation of the Day for Sun. January 29th

“I do not seek perfection – only to do the best that I  an. If others do better. I will admire them without envy while trying to do better myself.”

Thought of the Day for Sun. January 29th

The Flight of Icarus

According to Greek mythology, Icarus was a young man who tried to escape from a labyrinth wearing a pair of waxen wings made by his father Daedalus. However, despite his father’s warning. Icarus flew too close to the sun, his wings melted and he fell to the Earth. Hold this story in your mind to remind yourself of the need to balance idealism and aspiration with a realistic awareness of human limitation.

Blessed Sunday, dear friends!

Days Of The Week Comments Well, good morning! Oops, I mean good afternoon. Would you believe I got on the net this morning at 10:00. I had intentions of actually getting the horoscopes on in the morning, like I use too. Well I will get there eventually. As you can tell I have been playing with the site. I have added a few new touches to it. I promise the layout will stay the same for a bit now. The other layout, the more I looked at it, the more it looked like a jumbled up mess. I like this layout better. Thank you for having patience with me. I love to play, lol!

Well I hope you have a great Sunday! Kick back and relax for tomorrow comes the work week. Hate to be the bearer of bad news! Just don’t shoot the messenger, lol!

Having A Great Weekend, My Dear Friends?

Days of the Week Comments Well, at least I hope you are! Mine is so, so. Or I could say “SOS!” I hope you know what that means, lol! You know something I have never asked your opinion on the Mayan prediction for this year. Do you honestly believe the world is going to come to an end this Winter Solstice? I discussed this with my husband and being the bull-headed person, he actually believed my theory. Or at least he said he did to get me to be quiet (we were watching a special on it). You know they have made such a huge deal out of it. Can you imagine the mass hysteria that is going to occur as that date grows closer? People will actually be crazy. I believe it will be an uneventful day. I believe that the Mayans predicted their own doom. That the calendar was theirs and not meant for us. I believe that their Priest made the calendar and it was when their civilization was supposed to end. I believe the person that discovered the calendar thought he was a brain. And perhaps in his time he was and perhaps the scientists that studied the calendar were also well-known in their time. This being the case, they proclaimed that they had discovered what the calendar meant, “Our Impending Doom!”

So what’s your opinion on this matter? Do you believe the world will come to an end or it is just a lot of bologna? Come on I want to hear from you on this one!

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to ponder this question. You know if you were having a great weekend, boy I am a kill-joy! Sorry about that but that was something I had been wanting to get a few opinions on the subject.

Weekend Lunar Love Horoscopes for December 16th – 18th

Weekend Love: Lunar Love

by Jeff Jawer

Work in Progress

December 16 – 18

Love and pleasure are available for those willing to work extra hard this weekend. The practical Virgo Moon favors productivity and pragmatism, leaving romantic fantasies behind and seeking more grounded ways to connect. Collaborating on a project is one way to have fun while taking care of business. Helping a friend or contributing time and energy to a cause in which you believe can be excellent alternative methods for meeting someone special.

Happily, there is a sweet trend on Saturday night when the earthy Virgo Moon aligns favorably with lovely Venus. You don’t need to spend a lot of money or do anything elaborate to tap into the simple pleasures available all around you.

The Moon’s move into the partnership sign Libra on Sunday morning turns the wheel in another direction. Normally, this shift should invite delight and harmonious partnerships but, alas, this may not be the case now. The Moon’s challenging square with manipulative Pluto could undermine trust and bring up old fears from the past. However, this relatively quick moving transit is trumped by a more challenging one: Venus’ square with severe Saturn. You might feel temporarily isolated and unloved, yet the point is not to suffer in silence but to face facts and stoically work harder to earn the affection you want.

Your Love Horoscopes for the Week of December 12th

Messenger Mercury’s shift into forward gear on Tuesday should get conversations and communications moving more quickly. New connections that have been caught up in holding patterns may soon be ready for takeoff. Just plan your weekend carefully since efficiency is sexy with the Moon in practical Virgo on Friday and Saturday. The lunar shift into lovely Libra on Sunday morning creates a perfect atmosphere for hanging out with good friends or collaborating on a creative project that makes your heart sing.

Aries Horoscope
Aries Horoscope (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Enthusiasm is a wonderful thing, Aries, but you could raise your expectations beyond reason this weekend. The efficient Virgo Moon is busy working in your 6th House of Service, which can tie you up with minor tasks on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday. Bold plans and extravagant promises are more likely to cause complications that result in disappointment. A more modest approach to your social life can lead to sweet little pleasures that warm your heart.

Taurus Horoscope
Taurus Horoscope (Apr 20 – May 20)

Messages are mixed this weekend with the mood-setting Moon kicking back in your 5th House of Romance on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, increasing your chances of receiving some love and affection. However, the Moon’s presence in analytical Virgo can provoke criticism that undermines confidence. Recognizing your flaws and striving for self-improvement is an admirable approach, but don’t allow minor matters to get in the way of your fun.

Gemini Horoscope
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – Jun 20)

Your chatty ruling planet Mercury turns direct in your 7th House of Partners on Tuesday night, enabling communications to flow more easily. Honesty is, of course, a wonderful policy as long as it’s mixed with kindness. But blunt statements from you or others can be hurtful, even if that’s not anyone’s intention. Considering your audience and choosing your words with care can help heal ongoing relationships or get a new one off to a healthy start.

Cancer Horoscope
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – Jul 22)

Explaining your feelings isn’t always easy, but could be an essential task this weekend. The logical Virgo Moon visits your 3rd House of Information on Thursday night and stays until Sunday morning, placing a premium on clear communications. If you can focus on one subject at a time, you should be able to untangle emotional knots and overcome misunderstandings. Being completely open about your interests with someone new can lay down a solid foundation that slowly builds the trust you need.

Leo Horoscope
Leo Horoscope (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

When it comes to love you’re a gambler who likes to put your heart on the line. However, the Moon is in cautious Virgo and your 2nd House of Self-Worth from Thursday night to Sunday morning, which suggests that you are better off measuring your emotions and controlling how you express them this weekend. Repairing a wounded relationship takes time and attention; building a new one is also more likely to work best with patience that allows passion to grow slowly.

Virgo Horoscope
Virgo Horoscope (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

The Moon drops into your analytical sign Thursday night and doesn’t leave until Sunday morning, amplifying emotional tension and casting you in the spotlight. Obviously, you would prefer to avoid the attention when you’re not performing at your best. However, you can learn something important now about how your behavior affects your relationships. Talking through complex issues with loved ones empowers you to make more intelligent decisions about your personal life.

Libra Horoscope
Libra Horoscope (Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Peace and quiet are more desirable on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday when the Virgo Moon is moving through your ultra-private 12th house. Time spent alone or with one sensitive person in a secret place can provide the comfort that you seek. Bolder behavior is likely on Sunday with a lunar shift into your sociable sign. You’re ready for excitement and might be so bored with the usual routine that you’re the one to shake things up.

Scorpio Horoscope
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct 23 – Nov 21)

Social activities involving friends or colleagues should spice up your life this weekend. The Moon’s presence in your 11th House of Groups enlivens the mood on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday when you’re a valuable part of a team. Connecting with someone special while working for a charitable organization makes for a perfect blend of service and pleasure. However, it’s smart to get your rest, because Sunday could be a wild day as sudden changes of mood provide all the surprises you can handle.

Sagittarius Horoscope
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Finding time to enjoy yourself could be challenging this weekend. The hardworking Virgo Moon is highlighting your 10th House of Responsibilities until Sunday morning, loading you down with plenty of obligations. On the plus side, this gives you a wonderful chance to prove what a competent leader you are now. However, don’t promise too much, because earning respect may not sound sexy, but could be a positive step toward obtaining the love you desire.

Capricorn Horoscope
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Your interest in unique and unconventional subjects could enhance your relationship life this weekend. The Moon is traveling through detail-oriented Virgo and your 9th House of Learning, enabling you to combine education and entertainment. Whether you’re a student or a teacher, taking in cultural events not only sharpens your mind, but makes you a more desirable companion. Being generous with your knowledge only increases your sex appeal.

Aquarius Horoscope
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

The analytical Virgo Moon’s presence in your 8th House of Intimacy can bring you closer with someone special over the weekend. However, there may be some critical little details to be worked out to make this magic happen. Discussing delicate issues requires maturity and a willingness to be precise about your needs. It’s easy to find faults now, but romance flourishes when hard truths are softened with kind words of compassion and forgiveness.

Pisces Horoscope
Pisces Horoscope (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

The picky Virgo Moon enters your 7th House of Partnerships on Thursday night to place relationship matters on the front burner most of the weekend. You may be dealing with a critical person, but don’t let tender feelings keep you from facing the facts. You might have to work hard to restore peace to a current alliance or to get off to a good start with someone new. Use common sense to create the safety net that you need for the intimacy that follows.

Wishing You A Very Relaxed & Blessed Sunday, dear friends!

Good Sunday Morning/Afternoon To All!

Days Of The Week Comments
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Relaxing, enjoying the slow, steady rainfall trickling down on their window panes. Hey, wait a minute that me! I hope it is not raining where you are at. But it has been here since last night. I guess I shouldn’t complain it could be snow instead of rain. I have been up and down all night. I decided this time to put my nightly prowling to good use or so I thought. I had this dirty spot under my chair at my computer desk. So smarty pants me gets the rug cleaner and brush and goes to town at it around 4 o’clock this morning. When I got up and looked at it, it looked like crap. So I had to drag out the rug shampooer and clean the rug. Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if we could just twitch our nose like Samantha on Bewitched did and everything would be done. Ha, Hollywood for ya, lol! Unfortunately like isn’t so easy. But I guess if it was, we might all be fat and lazy witches or should I speak for myself, lol!

A Witch Brewing among Catholics

A Witch Brewing among Catholics

Author: Magaly Guerrero

How often do you think about the day you discovered Paganism? Not when you found it, at least not in my case—I have always been a Witch; I just didn’t call it that until I was teenager. Ironically, I saw my witchy light in a church…

The church looked amazing. The altar was adorned with huge candelabras, white roses and tulips, and there were chains of white daisies draping from the back of every pew. My catechism instructor had told the class that Father Elias was going to marry a couple after he was done with our confessions. I was a little confused because it was Wednesday, and I thought people only got married during Sunday mass.

I looked at my watch. I had been sitting on a wooden pew for over an hour; my butt was numb.

“You’re next.” Manuel Tapia’s voice made me jump. He was the oldest boy in my catechism group, and I had a crush on him. I confessed it to God as soon as I realized I liked him. I wasn’t sure if liking Manuel was a sin, but I told God anyway—you can never be too safe in the ever-watchful eyes of God.

I walked to the confession booth rubbing my behind. Please God, let the seat have some padding, I prayed in silence. My poor butt couldn’t take any more pew torture.

I got to the booth, climbed three steps, and took a look. Crap, another wooden pew. I stood very still waiting for my punishment, and then I guessed that saying or thinking the word ‘crap’ wasn’t a sin because God didn’t strike me on the spot. I sat on the bench.

“You have to kneel.”

“Crap.” Father Elias scared the living Jesus out of me. For a moment, I believed God had decided that saying ‘crap’ in his house was a sin after all, and I was about to get it. But it wasn’t God. The horrible breath sipping through the tiny-screened window belonged to a familiar mortal.

“I won’t tolerate that kind of language in the house of God.” Father Elias moved so closed to the window that I could clearly see his angry little eyes. I wanted to protest and tell him that God hadn’t said anything when I said crap, and it was his house. But Father Elias’s putrid breath made me dizzy. I just nodded.

“Well?” asked Father Elias impatiently. “Didn’t you learn how to confess? You need to kneel.”

“But I don’t have anything to confess. I ask God for forgiveness as soon as I make a mistake.”

“Insolent girl, you can’t confess without a priest.”

I stared at the livid man thanking God for the screened window. Father Elias would have probably spat all over my face if it weren’t for it. He continued ranting and I continued to stare without listening. My mind’s voice was screaming at me. Why do I need a priest to confess my sins? Why am I here? Why would I share anything with this lunatic? Will my mom be mad if I leave?

One question actually crossed my lips: “Why can’t I talk to my God on my own?”

Father Elias was in my face a couple of seconds later. “Get out! Go talk to your teacher and tell her you are not ready. I will speak to her later. Send in whoever is next.”

I walked out of the booth and looked at my best friend, Dahlia, who had been seating behind me, waiting for her turn. I froze. What kind of friend would I be, if I let her face the crazy man without warning? Help me God!

“Well?” Father Elias spat into my thoughts.

I looked at the condemning fire in his eyes, and I knew that I had to do something, and I had to do it fast. I took off running. I ran until my 11-year-old lungs ordered me to stop. I found an old oak tree to lean on, and waited for my breath to catch up.

“Maggy, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

It was Ms. Toledo, the town librarian. She was always nice to me. I touched my face and realized she was right. I was crying. I told her everything as we walked to the library. When we got there, Ms. Toledo offered me a chair, but I declined.

She let out a long sigh. “Oh, don’t worry too much. It’s not the end of the world.”

I knew she was trying to help, but she hadn’t seen Father Elias’s face. She wasn’t there when he told me that I wasn’t ready. Ready for what anyway? And why didn’t he answer my question?

Ms. Toledo must have read my mind because she said, “I’ll have a word with Father Elias.”

I gave her a pained look and said, “Thanks.” I just wasn’t sure talking to the priest was the best idea.

Ms. Toledo walked away and I thought about stopping her. She should know that Father Elias wouldn’t listen. I gathered some courage and was ready to go find her, but she came back before I had a chance to move.

“Here, ” she whispered. “Take it home. Come back next week and tell me what you think.”

The excitement of taking a book home made me forget all about Father Elias, sins, and confessions. You see, the library in my town was so small that it couldn’t allow people to check out books. So taking the book with me was an adventure, especially because I didn’t own any books. My family was very poor, so we couldn’t afford them. That was the reason why I was such a good friend with Ms. Toledo. I used to spend as much time in the library as I was allowed, in order to finish a book.

I thanked Ms. Toledo and left with a smile on my face. I walked the three miles from the library to my house, taking glances at the book every now and then, but not daring to open it. What if I dropped it and ruined it?

I got home, climbed my favorite mango tree, and opened my borrowed treasure. I read about ancient gods—males and females—who interacted with their people. I learned about olden times when humanity lived in harmony with the earth, when people honored the moon and the sun and these Old Powers listened; times when folks believe in the power of their own energy.

I enjoyed the book so much that I was really sad when Monday came and I had to return it. But my gloom didn’t last long. Ms. Toledo replaced the book. The new volume was filled with gods from all over the world. Some of the gods were terrible and scary, but I loved learning about each and every one of them. Their eclectic nature, the spontaneity of their ways, their darkness and light, reminded me of me.
