Get ready for a very special Full Moon! Not only is the Full Moon in Pisces on August 31 about compassion and spirituality, but it’s also a Blue Moon — which only happens every, well, once in a Blue Moon.

This Full Blue Moon in Pisces is special because of its ability to melt boundaries between people. It’s all about compassion and feeling empathy for others, and it’s a time when we are connected with many unseen spiritual forces.

Now is a time to forgive people, let go of worry and grudges, step back from the pressures of your daily routine and tap into something larger than you. Imagination will be heightened now, so use it to find your own sense of peace.

The Pisces Moon seeks to wash away the boundaries between us and within us. It’s about dissolving the differences that keep us apart from others and from ourselves. The goal is communion and the way to reach it is with compassion. Yet this is a lunar opposition to the Sun in precise and particular Virgo where every little detail counts. Knowing when to focus on specifics and when to let them fade into the background is the story of this Full Moon. While feelings are more sensitive and spirituality enhanced by the Moon’s conjunction with Pisces’ ruling planet Neptune, an energetic trine from passionate Mars in Scorpio provides an instinctual sense of direction and focus when it’s time to put dreams and faith into action

Daily Cosmic Calendar for August 31

August 2012 began with a Full Moon activating Leo Sun and Aquarius Moon on the first day of the month, and it ends with a Full Moon activating Virgo Sun and Pisces Moon on the last day of the month. It is very odd and rare to have this cosmic bookend-type experience affecting all of our lives.  This Full Moon cornucopia of potential enlightenment — energizing 9 degrees of Virgo and Pisces at 6:59AM PDT — arrives on the scene with the suggestion that individual and group meditations will help to send out healing thoughts and prayers to uplift humanity and the kingdoms of nature. However, before the Full Moon even takes place, the Sun makes an off-kilter, 150-degree tie with Pallas (4:35AM PDT) while also forming a somewhat frictional, 45-degree link with Venus (5:53AM PDT). It is clearly unsettling for this Full Moon to be happening with an air of mental discord and emotional fatigue on the horizon.  Making a healing rescue attempt of sorts are the monthly Moon union with Chiron in Pisces (4:39AM PDT) followed, after the Full Moon, by a Moon-Chiron parallel (8:41AM PDT) as well as a nurturing, productivity-enhancing 30-degree alliance from Venus to Ceres (12:40PM PDT). If you combine your efficiency and organizational skills with a caring-sensitive heart and altruistic soul, then much can be accomplished today.  It also helps from the practical side of human affairs that Mercury enters one of its two ruling signs — Virgo — at 7:33PM PDT. Be a whirlwind of talent with your favorite arts, crafts and hobbies this evening. Let your business acumen flourish as Mercury forms an inspirational, 72-degree rapport with investment-savvy Vesta (7:48PM PDT).  Get set for a tricky start to September tomorrow as the Sun moves toward a contra-parallel to Saturn while Mercury gears up for its annual opposition with dreamy and potentially confusing Neptune.
