Moon Alert

Avoid shopping or making important decisions until 2:30 PM EDT today (11:30 AM PDT). After that, the Moon moves from Leo into Virgo.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Discussions with romantic partners are challenging today because one of you might be critical of the other. Perhaps you have to say goodbye to someone? Parents should be considerate about the feelings of their kids. Goethe said, “Correction does much but encouragement does more.”

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Family discussions might be discouraging today. A parent might be critical. Meanwhile, very likely, home repairs and practical tasks need to be done where you live. Go ahead with your plans for these tasks and don’t let someone rain on your parade. Decide what to do, then do it. You’ve got this.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

It’s easy to slip into negative thinking today. We all do this. Everyone sometimes feels lonely, cut off or like they’re navel lint. But these negative feelings will pass! Everything is temporary – good times as well as bad times. (Hang in there.)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Financial matters might look discouraging today. It’s the end of the month, and you’re broke. (Join the club – we number millions.) Some of you might feel criticized about your purchases or the way you handle your money. You feel pragmatic and thrifty today.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Today you might fall into worry mode. Too often, worry is a habit. Remember: “Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere.” Instead, you can channel this same astrological energy into working hard, especially doing detailed, mental work.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Although you might feel vaguely uneasy about something, especially if someone behind the scenes is critical of you (the worst!); nevertheless, today the Moon is in your sign (after 2:30 PM EDT; 5:30 PM PDT), and this gives you an advantage! Ask the universe for a favour!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Discussions with a friend or a member of a group might be disappointing or discouraging today. Someone more experienced might make you feel diminished in some way. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” True!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Discussions with parents, bosses, authority figures and the police might be challenging today. Quite possibly, someone will try to pull rank on you or act like they hold all the cards and you are nothing. Don’t let this get to you. (Insecure people act like that.)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You have a choice today. You can either worry about something in the news or the media, or political or racial issues; or instead, you can use this same serious astrological influence and study or learn something new because your mind is very focused. What will you choose? What makes sense?

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This is not an ideal day for discussions about shared property, insurance disputes and inheritances because people will be petty, picky and negative. They certainly won’t be generous. However, your mind is focused and detail oriented so you won’t miss a thing.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Take a lighthearted approach when talking to partners and close friends today because people are inclined to think negatively, and drape everything in black crepe paper. Yes, it’s that kinda day. But it doesn’t have to be. Focus on something that you want to do.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Today is a good day to do heavy mental work that requires a lot of self-discipline because you have this in spades! Seek out someone you respect for their advice. Take frequent breaks from your work to relax in between so that you can continue and persevere at whatever you’re doing. Pace yourself.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor, politician Arnold Schwarzenegger (1947) shares your birthday today. You are confident and not afraid to think big. You are determined and creative, and at the same time, you are practical. This is a year of learning and teaching for you. Therefore, give yourself opportunities for time alone so that you can study and learn something valuable for you.

The Earth is Rotating Faster

On June 29, 2022, something extraordinary happened to the rate of spin of planet Earth. However, it probably had such a minuscule impact on your life that you can be forgiven for not even noticing.

Believe it or not, but you actually gained an extra 1.59 milliseconds to your day. We hope you spent it wisely!

According to TimeAndDate.com, on that day, our planet, as far as scientists can tell, set a new record for the quickest time to complete one rotation.

But what? Isn’t the Earth’s day exactly 24 hours? Actually, no, well, not quite.

The first thing to note is that there are actually “kinds” of days, depending on your definition.

The first, a solar day, is a period of 24 hours during which the Earth rotates so that the Sun appears at the same location in the sky. However, a sidereal day, which is defined as 23 hours, 56 minutes, and …

Earth is suddenly rotating faster and the shortest day just recorded

Spell for Today – Collect My Debt Spell

Saturday is the sixth day of the workweek. It’s officially the weekend. Some see it as one of the luckiest days for gambling. It’s one of those days where you can do what you need around your home and relax, as well. You can take care of a little business, then, reap the rewards. It’s a really good day to do collect, courage, reap, gamble, and exercise spells.

Collect My Debt Spell

Items needed:

1 sheet of paper
1 pen or pencil
1 gray ribbon
1 white candle
1 penny
1 bottle of glue
1 lighter or match
Light a white candle and close your eyes. Think about the money that is owed to you and how you feel about that situation. If you are angry at the person who owes you money, get rid of that anger now. Get the sheet of paper, bottle of glue, and a penny, and place them in front of you. Now, write down how much is owed to you on the sheet of paper. After that, below where you wrote the figure, glue the penny to the paper. Allow the glue to dry. Without breaking the penny from the paper, roll the paper up and tie the gray ribbon around it. Place the scroll you just made under your bed. Soon, you should be able to collect the debt. Once you collect the debt, remove the penny, give it away, and discard the scroll.

Moon Alert

There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today until 9:15 PM PDT. The Moon is in Leo.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Here’s another day where parents must be vigilant with their kids to avoid accidents. Meanwhile, social plans might change at the last minute. (This includes sports events.) This is also an unpredictable and rocky time for romance. Steady as she goes.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Once again, unpredictable events are taking place at home. Small appliances might break down or minor breakages could occur. Surprise company might appear at the door. Family arguments might upset your routine. Could be anything. Batten down the hatches!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Be careful because this is an accident-prone day for you, both physically and verbally. Therefore, think before you speak, or act, or do anything. On the upside, you might have spontaneous, genius-like ideas! Expect to meet new faces and see new places.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Keep an eye on your money and possessions because this week has been challenging! Sudden changes to earnings or something unexpected impacting something that you own, are just some examples of what might happen. Keep your eyes open.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This week is full of surprises – no question! The bottom line is you have to stay on your toes. Get your rest so that you can deal with the unexpected. In fact, give yourself wiggle room so that you can maneuver and be ready to go with changing plans. Be patient with others.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You might be privately upset with the views of someone else or something that’s going on in the news or in social media. Whatever concerns you might also be related to the law or a medical situation. Either way, work with what you can change; accept what you cannot change. It’s that simple.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Use your Libran diplomacy today if you find yourself at odds with a friend or a member of a group, which is highly likely. This week has been a testing time for dealing with others! However, you are not alone. Others have had to face this as well. Demonstrate grace under pressure.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Once again, you might find yourself at odds with parents, bosses, teachers, the police or partners and close friends. (It’s as if you can’t win!) Generally, if you fuel the flames of these disputes, it only makes things worse. Don’t say anything you will later regret. Stay frosty.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This is a touchy day. Work-related disputes might occur, especially about travel plans or matters with foreign countries. Issues in the news or in social media might also create unrest. Fortunately, romance is sweet and affectionate. Financial arrangements look solid, as well. (Be thankful for this.)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Today is an unpredictable day for social events, children’s activities, romance, financial speculation, sports and anything to do with shared property or insurance matters. Therefore, tread carefully! Think before you act and keep your eyes open. Bottom line: You don’t want to have any regrets.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

There’s so much going on at home with family members as well as partners and close friends, it’s hard to keep up. Your only choice is to keep your head down and your powder dry. Don’t be discouraged. Remember — the Ark was built by an amateur – the Titanic by professionals.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Unexpected issues might impact your health, a pet, or your job today. This has been the tenor of this week! Your only recourse is to go with the flow and make the best of what’s happening. You can do this.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Singer, musician Geddy Lee (1955) shares your birthday today. You are a gentle Leo who is practical and creative. You are also protective and nurturing of others. When you lead others, you do so in a subtle, gentle manner. Service to others is important this year, which means you must take care of yourself. Enroll in a class. Do a makeover. It’s important to stay grounded and balanced.

Animal Spirit Guide or Helper

From SpiritAnimal.info

Oh, the Blue Jay! Through the magic of symbolism, the Blue Jay teaches us to follow our feelings and intuition. As a spirit animal, it reminds us that our personal power is in our own hands and that we are free to take flight at any time, which is another way of saying that we have the freedom to choose our own path in life. The Blue Jay is playful yet serious, curious and yet sly, intelligent and cunning. It is also wise and perceptive. Whether a friend or foe, the Blue Jay teaches us how to be realistic and yet optimistic, careful and yet daring. In its expression of personal power, it symbolizes how we can rise above obstacles and challenges in our life.

Living Liminally: Discerning Good Source Material

One thing that’s important for anyone who relies, to any degree, on sources outside themselves for spirituality – or anything else – is being able to judge a good source from a bad one. So today I want to just run down a quick list of ways to vett sources of any type to decide how much weight you should give to something. Even if a source isn’t perfect it may have value – or it may be immediately tossed out. It depends on how it measures up.

  1. What sources does this source use? – One of the first things I do with any new source, be it written, video, in person, or what-have-you, is to try to look at what sources that source is using. Are they talking purely from personal gnosis? Are they using academic texts? Are they using other authors based in personal gnosis? Are they using well known and respected sources? Are they referencing conspiracy theorists or known white supremacists? Do they have no sources at all that they admit to? All of these things need to be taken into account. Something that’s entirely personal gnoses isn’t necessarily bad but needs to be understood in that context, while something from a deeply flawed or problematic source will be eliminated.
  2. Never once the Wikipedia – Okay this is  bit ranty right here, but as soon as I see wikipedia listed as a source for anything I’m done with that source. There’s a very good reason that wikipedia can’t be used in college, university, or even high school classes: its notoriously unreliable and oddly biased. Anyone can and does edit wikipedia and while its true that wikipedia cites sources and includes references pretty much any print or online source can be used and there is no quality control. Let me repeat; there is no quality control. The entry on Baobhan Sithe was sourced mainly from modern vampire guides, themselves largely repeating modern urban legends, and from RPG guidebooks. No really. The entry on Finnbheara contained an assertion straight from a fiction novel (I removed it, because remember anyone can edit wikipedia). Please don’t trust anything on wikipedia or any article using wiki as a source. Just don’t.

Moon Alert

After 2:45 AM PDT today there are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions. The New Moon is in Leo.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Note: Parents should be vigilant today because this is an accident-prone day for your kids. Meanwhile, social plans might catch you off guard. Something might be cancelled or you might receive an unexpected invitation to go somewhere? Sports events will have a surprising outcome. Good day for beginnings.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Today’s New Moon is a good time to start a home project or begin something to do with real estate. However, family discussions will be erratic, possibly nerve-racking. Meanwhile, surprise company might drop by. (Stock the fridge so you’re ready for anything.)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Pay attention to everything you say and do today because this is an accident-prone day for you. Nevertheless, you are full of clever, genius-like ideas today! In fact, this is an excellent day to initiate a new project or begin something new and fresh. (Just be careful.) Ideas?

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Watch your money and your belongings today because something unexpected could impact them. For example, you might find money; you might lose money. Protect what you own from loss, theft or damage. Meanwhile, a new financial venture might begin.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Today the only New Moon in your sign all year is taking place, which means it’s the perfect day for you to begin something new or start a new adventure. Nevertheless, you might find yourself at odds with a parent, boss or someone in authority. (Duck and cover.)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You feel restless today. You have that feeling that you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. (Invariably, ugly and in the wrong size.) Possibly, you are disturbed by social media, or something in the news, or someone’s political ideas or religious philosophy. Welcome to the club, we number millions.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You might meet a real character today, which could be interesting. Or perhaps someone you already know will do something that surprises you? Something about your relationship to a group or an organization might also catch you off guard. Meanwhile, this is a good day to set new goals.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

“Do not trifle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.” This is a not-so-subtle warning for you today to steer clear of authority figures – parents, bosses and the police – who might be on the rampage. Don’t go looking for trouble today. It will find you!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Travel plans might suddenly change today. Likewise, issues related to the law, medicine and higher education might suddenly be reversed or go in a new direction. Whatever happens is anyone’s guess. Nevertheless, it’s an excellent day to make new plans. (Go figure.)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Double check banking details and anything to do with shared property and inheritances because something might suddenly change today; and it could impact your wealth. Therefore, be in the know! (You snooze, you lose.) This is an excellent day to try a new arrangement. (See Moon Alert above.)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Conversations with partners and close friends will be stimulating and fascinating today. Ideas are flashing through your head at an amazing speed, which is why exchanges with others will be impulsive and fast-paced. Don’t make promises without a Get Out of Jail card. A new relationship might begin today.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Interruptions because of staff shortages, or the breakdown of equipment, machinery problems, computer glitches and late deliveries might be frustrating today. Nevertheless, you might have some clever, new ideas about how to improve things for the future. Speak up with your suggestions because they might be worthwhile!

If Your Birthday Is Today

Humanitarian Terry Fox (1958-1981) shares your birthday today. People notice you because you are free-spirited and optimistic. It shows. You are compassionate because you understand the needs of others. You have amazing perseverance. This is a year of change and increased personal freedom for you. Be ready to meet new friends and explore new horizons!

July 28, 2022 Current Moon Phase Digest

You can use this link to go forward or backward in time for Moon phase information. If you are curious, you can even find out what phase the Moon was in when you or anyone else was born.

From MoonGiant.com

The Moon’s current phase for today and tonight is a New Moon phase. During this phase the Moon is too close to the sun in the sky to be visible. The moon rises and sets with the sun and is not present in the night sky. Because of this the night sky is darker and an excellent time to view other celestial objects. Like the Full Moon, a New Moon happens at a very specific time when the sun and moon have the same ecliptic longitude and it can be measured down to the second it occurs.

Visit the July 2022 Moon Phases Calendar to see all the daily moon phase for this month.

Today’s New Moon Phase

The New Moon on July 28 has an illumination of 0%. This is the percentage of the Moon illuminated by the Sun. The illumination is constantly changing and can vary up to 10% a day. On July 28 the Moon is 29.31 days old. This refers to how many days it has been since the last New Moon. It takes 29.53 days for the Moon to orbit the Earth and go through the lunar cycle of all 8 Moon phases.

The 8 Lunar Phases

There are 8 lunar phases the Moon goes through in its 29.53 days lunar cycle. The 4 major Moon phases are Full Moon, New Moon, First Quarter and Last Quarter. Between these major phases, there are 4 minor ones: the Waxing Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, Waning Gibbous and Waning Crescent. For more info on the Moon Cycle and on each phase check out Wikipedia Lunar Phase page.
