Before we get started, I need to apologize for yesterday. I apologize, lol! Seriously Lord M came down for Thanksgiving which was a surprise. He kept telling me, he had something pressing to do at home and wouldn’t be able to make it. HA! He showed up Thursday morning so he wouldn’t miss the turkey. That man can smell food a 100 miles away and come running. But anyway, he took Mystie’s boys back with him for a few days and I have peace and quiet. Don’t get me wrong, I love them to pieces. But I sure the parents who have children in college can relate. They finish college and they all pile back in with you. You have to make certain changes in your life, like looking at a messy room that the garbage man wouldn’t even go in.

So Saturday afternoon, I decided I was fed up with the house looking like it got hit by a hurricane. I started tackling the mess, I should add I am a perfectionist and keep a very clean home. The whole time the mess was killing me but I kept my mouth shut. Hopefully they will get better. I cleaned up half the house Saturday night and finished up late Sunday after. When I was through, I just laid down on the clean carpet and rolled around with Kade. Come to find out, he don’t like messes either. But did I enjoy just laying down in the clean carpet! I guess when they get back there is some rules we need to put in place or next time, forget it, I won’t clean it, I will burn it.

And see you thought I was having a good time yesterday, I was rolling around the floor like a crazy person with my pup because you could actually see the floor, lol! Enough with that, I do apologize for not having any posts on here yesterday and if I don’t hush, we won’t have any for today. So with that let’s get this show on the road………

Today, November 27th, We Celebrate the Goddess Nephthys

Nephthys
The Egyptian Goddess

Areas of Influence: Nephthys the Egyptian Goddess symbolised the transitional nature of death. In one Egyptian myth she helped Isis collect the scattered limbs of Osiris to reconstitute his body.

In her funerary role she was considered a fearsome but necessary companion, assisting the dead through the different levels of the afterlife.

She was also the Goddess of mourning, comforting the relatives of the deceased. These wailing mourners were described as the “hawks of Nephthys”.

This Goddess was the guardian of Hapi who protected the Canopic jar which contained the lungs.

She protected the Pharaoh in life as well as in death, incinerating his enemies with her fiery breath. This Deity also gave the Pharaoh the power to see that ” which is hidden by moonlight,” linking this Goddess to the powers of darkness and magic and making her a popular Deity with witches and magicians.

Her importance has been overshadowed by her sister Isis. In reality whilst Isis governed the energy of birth, growth, development and the visible she represented death, decay, stagnation and the invisible. In many ways she can be viewed as being the opposite force or the other side of the coin to Isis. However, because many fear death and magic in the modern world, rather than recognizing these forces as part of the cycle of life, her role has been sidelined.

Even this analogy does not truly represent the importance of this Goddess, recent evidence suggests that although there are no surviving temples dedicated to this Goddess she was worshipped widely. This Goddess also performed an important role at births where she stood at the head of the bed to comfort and assist the mothers whilst her sister Isis, acted as midwife.

This Goddess was worshipped by nursing mothers as she was considered to be the nursing mother of Horus and the Pharaoh himself.

This Goddess was also known as Nebethet and Nebkhat.

Origins and Genealogy: Seb and Nut were her parents of. Her siblings included Isis, Osiris and Set.

Married to Set the Egyptian God associated with the barren desert and sterility meant she was often thought to be a childless Goddess. Later myths however, suggest that after a union with Osiris she gave birth to Anubis.

Strengths: she is a protective Goddess and represents the cycle of death and rebirth.

Weaknesses: The duality of her nature means she is often neglected and misunderstood.

Symbolism

In her funerary role Nephthys was often symbolized by a hawk, falcon or a woman with wings outstretched in protection.

She is also shown with her Hieroglyphs (a basket and a house) balanced on her head.

Additionally this Goddess is the protector of the Pheonix whose rise from the ashes symbolises rebith.

This deity was associated with the unseen world and magic.

The Crone

The Crone represents the wise old woman whose child bearing days are behind her. Other associations with this Archetype include: compassion, transformation, healing and bawdiness death and endings. She is the respected older woman or grand-parent at the heart of family who enjoys life and sharing her experience.

Unfortunately the word Crone or Hag often has negative connotations as many wise woman and midwives were persecuted as witches in the middle ages.

Shadow Crone is the bitter, old woman who has failed to learn from her life. She blames all her failings and unhappiness on a society that no longer respects the elders. As a result she becomes increasingly isolated and fearful.

Nephythys is a crone goddess as she is the goddess that assists with death and dying

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar.On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

Monday–The Day of the Moon

The moon, like the sun, was an object of wonder in the days of old, and was worshiped almost everywhere in some form or other, but it does not play quite so important a part in story as the sun. Since the moon is paler than the sun and its light soft and gentle, it was often regarded as being a chariot driven by a woman, but the course of the moon-goddess across the sky was similar to that of the sun-god.

Diana, the moon-goddess of the Greeks and Romans, known also as Cynthia, Phoebe, and Arterms, was the twin-sister of Apollo, and drove a golden chariot drawn by milk-white horses. Diana and Apollo were children of Jupiter, and were born in the Island of Delos, where a temple to Apollo was afterwards built. Another of the Seven Wonders of the World was the temple to Diana at Ephesus, on the west coast of Asia Minor. The worship of Diana at Ephesus is mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles: “And when the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he saith, ‘Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there who knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is temple-keeper of the great Diana and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?'” The temple was destroyed in the year A.D. 263, but remains of it may still be seen.

Diana was also the Goddess of Hunting; she was a skilled archer, and spent the day in huuting, as we have seen in the story of Orion.

The most famous story of Diana is that of her love for Endymion, a young shepherd–a story which has been told by the poets many times. One evening as the moon-goddess was driving silently across the sky, she saw sleeping on a hillside a handsome youth, his resting flock scattered over the gentle slope. Attracted by his beauty, Diana stepped from her chariot and gazed long at his face; then softly stooping, she kissed him lightly on the lips. Endymion, half wakened by her touch, caught a fleeting vision of the fair goddess as she hastened to her chariot. Filled with wonder at the sight, he rose quickly and rubbed his eyes, but all he saw was the bright moon floating across the dark sky, and he thought that he had been dreaming. The next night the goddess came to him again, and again he saw her with his half closed eyes. Each night when the bright rays of the moon fell on his upturned face he dreamed this wonderful dream, but he was always sleeping when the goddess came, and nevr saw her in her full and dazzling beauty. The days now seemed long and dreary to Endymion, and he waited anxiously for the night that he might see again the glorious vision.

Diana was filled with dread at the thought that the beautiful youth would lose his beauty as the years went by, and at last she cast a spell over him while he slept, so that he should never wake again, and carried him away to a cave in a mountain-side known only to herself. There the loving Diana paused each night in her journey across the sky, and gazed on the face of the fair Endymion.

Diana, when hunting in the forest, was attended by a band of wood-nymphs who were her faithful followers. One of these nymphs, Arethusa, was one day cooling herself after the chase on the banks of the River Alpheus, when suddenly the God of the River appeared. The startled nymph ran quickly into the woods, but the god Alpheus pursued her, telling her that he loved her and that she need fear no harm. Arethusa was too frightened to listen to the god, and ran on, till at last, worn out, she prayed to Diana for help. The moon-goddess was ever ready to help her faithful nymphs, and in answer to the prayer transformed the girl into a fountain, which she hid in a thick mist. Alpheus, suddenly losing sight of the nymph, wandered sorrowfully about, calling out her name in his distress. Arethusa now thought that she was safe, but the wind-god, Zephyrus, blew aside the mist, and Alpheus saw a fountain where there had not been one before, and guessed what had happened. He quickly changed himself into a river and rushed towards the fountain, but Arethusa sprang from the rocks and hastened away over the stones and grass. Diana now saw her fresh danger, and made an opening in the ground, through which Arethusa slipped, to find herself in the kingdom of Pluto, the God of the Underworld. Here she wandered until she found another opening, by which she escaped once again into the sunshine on the plain of Sicily. Alpheus, however, at last made his way across the sea to Sicily, where he found Arethusa and won her love. The Greeks believed that flowers cast into the River Alpheus in Greece were carried by the river as gifts to his lover, and appeared later in the fountain of Arethusa in Sicily!

Among the Egyptians the moon was regarded as a god, who was named Thoth (The Measurer). He was also the God of Wisdom, Invention, Writing, and Magic. He was one of the earliest of the Egyptian gods, having come into being at the same time as Ra, the sun-god, and it was he who was said to have created the world. The Romans compared him with Mercury because, like Mercury, he invented writing. As the God of the Moon, he was represented as wearing a crescent moon on his head, and holding in his hand a stylus, a pointed instrument used by the Egyptians for writing on their wax tablets.

The Babylonian moon-god was Sin, the Lord of Wisdom. He was the father of the sun-god, and was one of the greatest of the gods, owing to the fact that the Babylonians regulated their calendar by the moon.

The Angles and Saxons believed that the moon was driven across the sky by Mani, the son of a giant, in a golden chariot drawn by a horse named the All Swift. As in the case of the sun, our ancestors had no distinct goddess of the moon; but we shall read of Mani again in a later chapter.

These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. On this date the Goddess Gujeswari Jatra is honored by the Hindus and Buddhists of Nepal. Activities fill the day beginning with prayers to the Goddess. Saturday, November 25

While the stars of summer and winter remain on view these late November evenings, the stars of spring are not so lucky. The Big Dipper swings low in the north at this time of year. Although this conspicuous asterism never sets from much of the United States and Canada, it does come close. And the star at the end of the handle — magnitude 1.9 Eta (η) Ursae Majoris — does dip below the horizon around 9 p.m. local time for viewers south of 40° north latitude.

Sunday, November 26

First Quarter Moon occurs at 12:03 p.m. EST. As darkness descends across the Northern Hemisphere this evening, observers will find the half-lit Moon due south and nearly halfway from the horizon to the zenith. Our satellite spends the night in the constellation Aquarius the Water-bearer.

Monday, November 27

Mars stands out in the eastern sky before dawn this week. The magnitude 1.7 Red Planet rises more than three hours before the Sun and appears 20° high as twilight starts to paint the sky. It resides among the background stars of Virgo, and this morning it passes 3° due north (upper left) of the Maiden’s brightest star, 1st-magnitude Spica. (Mars remains within 3° of Spica through the morning of December 2.) Notice the stark color contrast between the orange-red planet and the blue-white star. Unfortunately, the view through a telescope proves disappointing — Mars spans just 4″ and shows no detail.

Tuesday, November 28

After the Sun sets this evening, look low in the southwest for Mercury. For observers at 35° north latitude, the innermost planet lies 7° above the horizon 30 minutes after sundown. Binoculars will help you to find the magnitude –0.2 object in the twilight glow. Binoculars will also reveal the fainter glow of magnitude 0.5 Saturn just 3° to Mercury’s upper right.

Wednesday, November 29

The second-brightest asteroid of 2017 puts on a nice show during November. Minor planet 7 Iris rides high in the evening sky among the background stars of Aries the Ram. It glows at magnitude 7.7 and should be relatively easy to spot through binoculars even from the suburbs. This evening, you can locate Iris 0.5° due east of the magnitude 5.9 star 4 Arietis.

Thursday, November 30

The variable star Algol in Perseus reaches minimum brightness at 9:27 p.m. EST, when it shines at magnitude 3.4. If you start watching it after darkness falls this evening, you can see it more than triple in brightness, to magnitude 2.1, over the course of a few hours. This eclipsing binary star runs through a cycle from minimum to maximum and back every 2.87 days. Algol appears high in the northeastern sky after sunset and passes nearly overhead around 10:30 p.m. local time.

Algol can guide you to one of the finest binocular star clusters in the late autumn sky. Just after darkness falls, target the variable star through binoculars and place it at the bottom of your field of view. At the top of the field, you should see a hazy patch of light roughly the size of the Full Moon. This is M34, a collection of roughly 100 suns near Perseus’ border with Andromeda. Through 10×50 binoculars, M34’s brightest stars appear to twinkle against the unresolved glow of the cluster’s fainter members.

Friday, December 1

Uranus reached opposition more than a month ago, but it remains a tempting target. The outer planet appears in the southeast after darkness falls and climbs highest in the south around 9 p.m. local time. The magnitude 5.7 world lies in southeastern Pisces 3.2° west of the 4th-magnitude star Omicron (ο) Piscium. Although Uranus shines brightly enough to glimpse with the naked eye under a dark sky, binoculars make the task much easier. A telescope reveals the planet’s blue-green disk, which spans 3.7″.

Saturday, December 2

Head outside before dawn and you’ll find Jupiter blazing low in the southeast. The giant planet rises 2.5 hours before the Sun and climbs 15° high an hour before sunup. Jupiter shines at magnitude –1.7, which makes it the brightest point of light in the night sky, and resides among the much dimmer stars of the constellation Libra. A telescope reveals the planet’s 31″-diameter disk.

Sunday, December 3

Full Moon officially arrives at 10:47 a.m. EST, though it will look completely illuminated all night among the background stars of Taurus the Bull. The Full Moon rises close to sunset, appears highest in the south around midnight local time, and sets as the Sun comes up. Our satellite reaches its Full phase just 17 hours before its closest approach to Earth during its monthly orbit. The coincidence between these two events makes this the largest Full Moon of 2017, and you can expect to hear the phrase “Super Moon” used to describe it. Just how special is it? This Full Moon spans 33.4′, 7 percent larger than average. Most people won’t notice that small of a difference, but you can bet a lot of them will head out this evening, see the bright Moon hanging low above the horizon, and be amazed at its size. But this is an illusion — viewing the Moon near familiar foreground objects tricks the mind into thinking it looks bigger.

The Waxing Crescent Moon

Magick performed on the waxing crescent moon is very similar to the waxing gibbous moon (they are both in the waxing or increase phase) and indeed you don’t have to pay attention to the distinction between them if you choose not to, but you should be aware that the closer the moon comes to being full, the more powerful it’s increasing potency becomes. This can be useful to know because sometimes we all have the luxury to wait a few days until after the half gibbous moon has passed into the more powerful phase, the waxing gibbous phase. With rituals that require less lunar potency or are the first in a line of several consecutive rituals that lead up to the full moon, you can confidently use this phase of the moon. For example, a healing performed to ease a cold or mild chronic illness can easily be started during the waxing crescent phase of the moon. However, a more serious illness would be better served during the waxing gibbous phase.

Ideally, with some minor examples, nearly all magick would be best divided out between the full or new moon, but this is such a short period of time each month, that we delegate certain phases to certain less important tasks. However, remember two things. For very serious illnesses the full (for healing the illness) or black (for banishing the illness) moons are the best choices, but they are not always necessary for more minor problems. Also the time does come sometimes when we have no choice but to do ritual work during incompatible times. In emergency cases, don’t let bad timing stop you. Use other Nature Correspondences or the other types of magick (Mental or Spiritual Magick) to offset your lack of timing.

Good Wednesday morning, dear family! I didn’t want you to think we had run off and left you (you would never be that lucky, lol!) I got a phone call late yesterday from a friend whose mother-in-law run a large Co-Operative Ministry in this area. They feed the homeless and also pass out food baskets during the holiday season. This year they have over 1200 baskets to deliver and don’t have enough people to deliver them. She wanted to know if we could and would help. I told her of course we would. She calls us when they are running short on delivery people and I can’t turn her down. I also figure it will be a good way for the boys to see how other people in this area live and how fortunate they really are. It is a humbling experience, you think you have it bad till you run into someone else who has it worse than you do. I enjoy doing it because of the people you get to meet and also making their holidays a little brighter.

We are suppose to be there at 10:30 so we will be cutting it close but she knows we are coming. I just wanted to let you know what we were up to and we would see you tomorrow bright and early. Lord Myst came in early for Thanksgiving and we have invited some friends over and are planning on having Thanksgiving here. The only problem, I have to cook. Did I ever tell you I hate to cook? People say I am a good cook but still….

So we will be seeing you at the crack of dawn, if not earlier tomorrow. Till then, my sweets……..

About the Waxing Crescent Phase

The waxing crescent phase is the moon’s first step toward fullness. And it’s a very visible shift — the moon is completely invisible (while it’s new) until a tiny sliver is illuminated. The moon is considered a crescent only when less than one half of it is visible. According to astrologer and medium Natalia Kuna, this lunar phase presents us with a major opportunity for change.

Where the new moon is restorative and the full moon is expansive and specific to the time of year, the waxing crescent moon is a call to action. Regardless of the season or month, this is a great time to work toward the goals that are right in front of you. Tackle those home improvement projects that have piled up; start that awkward conversation with your manager; or finally adopt a dog.

Monday, November 20

Look for a two-day-old waxing Moon low in the southwest about 45 minutes after sunset. Although the slim crescent appears only 5 percent lit, its unlit portion should show the faint illumination of earthshine. If you turn binoculars toward the Moon, you’ll also see Saturn 3° to its lower left. Then, scan toward the horizon and you should pick up Mercury 8° directly below Luna.

Tuesday, November 21

Head outside a half-hour before sunrise and you’ll find Jupiter blazing low in the east-southeast. The giant planet glows at magnitude –1.7 and stands out against the twilight. If you look 8° to Jupiter’s lower left, you should see magnitude –3.9 Venus gleaming just 5° above the horizon. The two planets were in conjunction last week, but they are now pulling away from each other. While Jupiter climbs higher and appears more prominent with each passing day, Venus dips closer to the Sun’s glare and soon will disappear.

The Moon reaches apogee, the farthest point in its orbit around Earth, at 1:53 p.m. EST. It then lies 252,358 miles (406,132 kilometers) from Earth’s center.

Wednesday, November 22

Neptune’s westward motion against the background stars comes to a halt today. The distant planet appears highest in the south around the end of evening twilight and sets around midnight. The magnitude 7.9 world lies in Aquarius, 0.6° south of the 4th-magnitude star Lambda (λ) Aquarii. You’ll need binoculars to spy Neptune and a telescope to see its blue-gray disk, which spans 2.3″.

Thursday, November 23

After the Sun sets this evening, look low in the southwest for Mercury. For observers at 35° north latitude, the innermost planet lies 7° above the horizon 30 minutes after sunset. (It appears somewhat higher the farther south you live.) Binoculars will help you to find the magnitude –0.4 object in the twilight glow. Today marks the peak of Mercury’s evening apparition because it reaches its maximum elongation from the Sun (22°).

Friday, November 24

Although Thanksgiving weekend signifies autumn to many people, the stars of both summer and winter appear prominent in late November’s evening sky. If you head out around 9 p.m. local time and look toward the west, you’ll see the bright stars of the Summer Triangle. These three luminaries — Vega, Deneb, and Altair — stand out nicely. Deneb appears highest (nearly halfway to the zenith), while the brightest, Vega, lies farthest to the north. Now, if you turn around and face east, you’ll find stars normally associated with winter. Betelgeuse, Rigel, Aldebaran, and Capella all clear the horizon before 8 p.m. and appear conspicuous an hour later.

If you start watching it late this evening, you can see its brightness diminish by 70 percent over the course of about five hours as its magnitude drops from 2.1 to 3.4. Algol appears nearly overhead around 11 p.m. local time and remains well above the northwestern horizon until dawn.

I haven’t made up my mind yet what we are doing here today. We have some new bracelets in and I am also looking at a huge dust ball on my door hinge. We might clean house after we get through putting the bracelets on the store, who knows? The day is still young.

I wanted to talk to you a minute about something, I don’t want you to feel like I have been pushing the store down your throats. Because I have. To some I have to explain because we have picked up several new members. A little over a month ago, I lost one of my dearest and best friends I ever had. Her name was Mystie and we grew up together. I was closer to her and her brother than my own sister (she was 22 years old than me). I always thought of Mystie as my sister. She went out on night and never made it back home. She was killed by a semi-truck that crossed over into her lane. It was absolutely horrible. The accident happened out of state, that was sheer torture. What was worse was having to tell the two boys she left behind their mother was gone. Mystie’s wishes was for Lord M (her brother) and myself to raise the boys. As the biggest part of you know, they are now living with me. Their uncle is back home trying to sell his place and move down here. He has had a few offers but everyone wants him to drop the price so long it is pathetic. I don’t know if he will be here for Thanksgiving or not. I am planning on him not being.

So what does all this have to do with me pushing the store on you, I want to raise enough money to take the boys out to eat for Thanksgiving. Don’t gasp in horror that I am not cooking, we will have a turkey here too. I can relate to these boys all to well. I lost my mother when I was eleven years old.  The memories after the time of her death till haunt me to this day. I remember the first Thanksgiving we had without her. That was the most miserable and heart breaking experience of my life. Daddy had to bring up about the past Thanksgivings and what momma did and how much her missed her. I guess he thought the rest of us didn’t miss her. My sister had cooked, which she hated to do. But it wasn’t the same, my mind wondered back to the wonderful mother and woman I had lost. She would never live to see me grow up. She would never see her grandchildren. Till this day, I wish to the Goddess she was still alive. I did nothing that entire day except dwell on my mother and you can’t imagine what a horrible memory I have of that day. Probably the reason I don’t enjoy any of the holidays anymore.

I have tried to keep the boys occupied to the best of my ability. I want them to grieve for Mystie but I want them to also move on. I know she would have wanted that also. Most of all I don’t want them to experience the kind of Thanksgiving I had. Mystie had her own seat at my house. I don’t want them looking at that empty chair as I had to do with my mother. I want to take them out, take their minds off of some of the pain they are going through and realize life does exist after the loss of a loved one. If we stay here, I know what it will be. There will be crying, sadness and grief, oh so much grief, because I loved their Mother just as much  as they did. I don’t want to have to look at her empty seat either. I figure getting them out of the house, going to a local buffet which is serving turkey and dressing and enjoying the day, will help some. It’s not an answer but at least they won’t be miserable and broken hearted all day. After we eat, I figure we will drive to the game reserve and go on a nature walk. I haven’t figured out how but I do plan on honoring Mystie’s memory. It is a fine line you walk, trying to let the boys know they must go on with life. Then wondering if they think I am trying to wipe their mother’s memory for their minds altogether. I hope they don’t think that because that is not my intentions at all. I want them to grow up and their lives be a honor to their Mother’s life & memory, who was taken all too soon.

One more thing and I will hush, one of the boys have been angry and I can understand that. We have talked a lot and unfortunately he thinks I know everything (poor kid). In one of our talks, he asked me the hardest question, I had ever been asked in my life. Why was my mother taken? You prepare yourself  for anything and everything except a question like that. I thought for a moment and of course, no one has an answer for that question but one came…..I asked him how much he knew our his mother’s beliefs and our religion. He said a little, not much. I told him that we believe when we learn all we can in one life, we move on to another. The Goddess calls us to the Summerlands. We stay there for a bit and then we reincarnate. Perhaps Mystie had learned everything she was suppose to in this life and was called home. He asked then why were we left motherless? I told him, he wasn’t motherless, his mother would walk beside him every day of his life. When he needed her all he had to do is call. Then he had the Goddess on the other side walking with him. There were no two better ladies he could have to walk with him, protect him and love him throughout his life. Just as Mystie had fulfilled the Goddess’ plan for her, now it was time for him to start his own Path. The Goddess knew he was a strong, young man and She knew it would be difficult for him to handle his mother’s loss but he would get through it. She also knew that he would never be alone on this plane as long as his uncle and I lived and breathed. I told him it is hard to understand and the human mind can’t really grasp the idea of death but it is a part of life we all have to accept when it comes. I talked some more, which I won’t bore you with but when it was all said and done, he hugged me. He also brought tears to my eyes when he told me, he wanted to believe as his mother did and as I do.

So you now know my motives behind pushing the store so hot and heavy, I want two young men to have a nice Thanksgiving in spite of everything that has happened.
