This week Canadians will celebrate July 1st and Americans will celebrate July 4th. Fortunately, it’s a great week to socialize and strengthen bonds between friends and family members. (It really is. I’m not saying this to sound patriotic.) Here’s the backdrop for these events: We have the Sun and Venus in warm, sensitive Cancer (who can’t throw anything away). Curious Mercury is in Leo, which will lend high drama to our conversations and daily antics. (“OMG! You had to be there!”) Meanwhile, fiery Mars is in Taurus, promoting eating good food – (too much, actually. Especially, that high-end Praline ice cream.) Of course, Jupiter is in Gemini for the next year and Saturn has one more year left in Pisces. Read on to see what’s in store for you. “Th-th-the, th-th-the, the.. That’s all folks!”

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Home and family are your strong focus this week, especially with a parent. You might redecorate and entertain. Family discussions will be about financial matters, perhaps about real estate or real-estate speculation? In fact, your considerations regarding spending money right now are surprisingly sober and conservative because you want guaranteed results for your efforts. You especially want to protect what you have. This is why before you act, you will be patient enough to do some careful planning. You will pay attention to details and make decisions that allow you to work patiently towards goals that will be fulfilled in the future. Oh yeah, you know what you’re doing.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a busy, social week! Your pace will be fast and filled with short trips, errands, appointments and conversations with neighbours, friends and family members. You’ll be on the go! Fortunately, fiery Mars is in your sign boosting your energy. (This blessing comes along only once every two years for about six weeks so be grateful. Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Life is good with lucky Jupiter in your sign for the first time in 12 years. Cancer (June 21-July 22)

With the Sun in your sign, you’re in the driver’s seat. You’re ready to take charge, which you will do with diplomacy and charm because Venus is also in your sign. Mercury will promote moneymaking ideas and draw attention to what you really value in life – be it material, intellectual or spiritual. Mercury might make you shop more than usual. It will also encourage financial planning, which is not surprising because you are never casual about money. (You’re a saver.) Mars will pump your energy and your ego as you deal with groups this week. Work with others and look for a win/win solution. If conflict arises, use sports and physical activity to blow off pent-up steam.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This week Mercury is in your sign, making you keen to express your views to the world. Fortunately, people will listen because you will put a great deal of yourself into what you say. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You might also make travel plans with someone or explore higher education, publishing or something to do with medical or legal matters. Many opportunities are available for you right now because with Jupiter at the top of your chart (for the first time in 12 years), you’re experiencing a time of success! Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This week you’re thinking about your career, your role in society, and your reputation in your community. You might wonder if you’re going in the direction you want to go? Meanwhile, people notice you now and they admire you. They’re impressed by you, which is why you might be asked to take on increased responsibilities or given power in some way. Don’t worry you can handle this. Meanwhile, romance is favoured, especially with someone older or more established. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Get thee to an airport or jump in the car and start watching those telephone poles going by because you need a change of scenery! If you can’t travel, be a tourist in your own city. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You can attract money and practical assistance as well as favours from others this week. You might also take a hard look at jointly-held property and anything that you share or own with someone else, including getting a loan. Very likely, assistance will come from an older family member, and in turn, it might benefit your home and family. Certainly, you’re working hard now because you want specific useful results. Despite this practical and financial focus, travel plans definitely appeal! (You know who you are.) Meanwhile, your closest relationships are warm and supportive right now. That’s a blessing.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Many of you are making amazing strides with your health and with your job now. In other words, you’re getting recognition about your work or you’re feeling a greater sense of accomplishment and personal reward connected with your work. If this is not the case, do be aware that you can get a better job this year. Don’t settle for less. This is also an excellent week to practice a skill or hone a technique, perhaps with a musical instrument or in the arts or in sports. This is a strong week for you because serious discussions and focused effort will allow you to accomplish something; and you will like this. Serious discussions about relationships will go well. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

That’s because all these exciting possibilities are waiting for you but you will have to get out of bed. In fact, romance with someone of an age difference is highly likely right now. You might even make the first move? This is because you’re a bit strident in your discussions with others while Mars in your House of Communications. Nevertheless, this is also an excellent time for mental work because you will be more attentive to details and you’ll want everything to be as perfect as possible. This week is challenging because everyone is a bit grumpy. Of course, grumpiness is a choice. It’s true that certain circumstances are upsetting, but we have the choice of how to react. If I choose to be grumpy -the first person who suffers is me. I’m the first casualty. Then others are next. I might feel guilty for my behavior and justify it by validating my right to be being grumpy. Grrr. And so it goes. But if I choose not to be grumpy – I’ll be happier! Others will be happier! Each of us has this power of choice. Every day. This week will be the test. To grump or not to grump – that is the question.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

This is a fast-paced week. You’ve got things to do, places to go and people to see. You’re keen to read, write and learn new things. You might teach. Despite the fact that this week has its challenges, more than other signs, you have the good fortune of being able to appreciate your daily surroundings in a real, genuine way. Nevertheless, expect power struggles about money, earnings and cash flow; perhaps these confrontations are about something that you own, perhaps a possession. Someone might dispute the ownership, or harm your assets. Ironically, it’s timely for you to downsize and let go of what you don’t need. (Lighten up!)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This week will bring challenges your way. No question. For starters, you have a strong focus on money and possessions. (These are things you don’t take casually. Money matters.) (Major horseshoes!) This makes things flow easily for you and boosts your good fortune. Furthermore, you’ll attract money, gifts and favours to you. That’s the good news. The bad news is that fiery Mars, in a hidden part of your chart, is at odds with Pluto, which will create opposition with others, especially at universities or with travel issues, or publishing, the media, medicine and the law. I think you’ll handle the aggro of this week because you’re keeping a low profile. Most of the planets in your chart are “hiding” right now. But not all. This is not the time to push your agenda with others, especially clubs and organizations. (This includes competitive sports.) Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

A tricky part about this week is that for starters, it’s a popular time for you. You’re more active seeing friends and interacting with clubs and organizations. On top of that, your ambition is aroused, which means you’re pushing into various areas with more enthusiasm than usual. However, you might encounter criticism from a friend or a group. (If there is one sign who hates criticism – it’s you. You thrive on compliments!) Plus, you have issues related to taxes, shared property and insurance matters that might be depressing. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

There’s no doubt that this is a challenging week for everyone, including you. However, on the upside, with four planets at the top of your chart, you look capable, attractive and appealing to others. You’ve got your game face on. (This is an advantage.) Nevertheless, conversations with partners and close friends will be challenging and difficult. Don’t take things to heart. Keep in mind that everyone is dealing with a lot of stress this week. Meanwhile, power struggles about politics, religion or ideological issues are also in the mix. This can be draining. Steer clear of these if you can. Get out into nature because this rejuvenates you.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Patience is a virtue. The irony is that the only way we can cultivate patience is by having it tested. If you’re relaxing on a beach while someone serves you delicious drinks with pink parasols in them as you watch waves breaking in a shimmering sun set – you don’t need to be patient. You need patience when people are irritating, you’re running late, you encounter unexpected obstacles and then your car breaks down on a busy bridge during rush hour. (If you can think of a way to add tangled Christmas tree lights to this scenario – even better.) Be patient with loved ones this week, especially partners. Expect discouraging news about financial matters. This too, shall pass.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This week Mercury along with other planets is opposite your sign opposing you. Furthermore, Mercury is at odds with Saturn. This is the classic situation for discouragement and tough times dealing with older family members. Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, power struggles related to your health, a pet or your job might become an issue. It’s all a bit much. (It will drive some to Bingo.) The thing to keep in mind is that the challenges and stresses that you encounter this week are temporary. It’s not “The way things are.” It’s “The way things are this week.” It’s important to get that into perspective. Speaking of perspective, five years from now, how much will any of this matter? Think about this.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

If you read All Signs above, you know this week is challenging. People will be grumpy, irritated and quick to anger. Circumstances might be difficult. Fortunately, more than any sign in the zodiac, you exemplify the saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” (Oh sure, “the tough” can also “go shopping.”) You’re not a quitter. You can handle adversity. Be patient with your kids. Be patient with your romantic partners. Don’t let issues that are work-related or related to your pet or even related to your health get you down. The saving grace to know is that this is a temporary speedbump. Ironically, your health and your job are going to improve immensely this year and next year as well! Count on this.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Be aware right from the get go that this week will have its challenges dealing with kids as well romantic partners. Issues related to the cost of vacations, social outings and sports-related matters might also create arguments. As if that weren’t enough, power struggles within the family are also taking place because increased chaos and activity on the home front are building up at this time. Do not be part of the problem. Work to be part of the solution. For that matter, the solution might just be to let things settle and find their own level. Although next week is a bit confusing, by the end of the month, things will restore themselves in a lovely way. So, you have to wait things out and do this with grace, patience and kindness to others. Cut someone some slack. It’s no biggie.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Your focus on family, home repairs and redecorating projects, as well as entertaining at home, will continue this month. The key is to be patient with family members, especially older relatives and parents. Bite your tongue before you say something you might regret. Read the room. Censor your words. What’s to be gained by a clever but nasty retort? Nothing. But if you refrain from doing this, you gain in personal discipline by practising patience. Resist the urge to coerce others into your way of thinking, even if you’re right. Instead, take a step back – look at your life – alphabetize your blessings. The challenges this week are temporary.

Take time to enjoy moments with loved ones. Meanwhile, I’m sure we can all agree that the three phrases that sum up the holiday season will be: “Peace on Earth,” “Goodwill to All,” and “Batteries Not Included.” Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Aries (March 21-April 19)

For the next four weeks, the Sun will be at the top of your chart. This can happen only once a year and when it does, it symbolizes that the Sun is casting you in a special spotlight.
