Get A Jump On Tomorrow, Your Horoscopes for Thursday, May 2

Moon Alert

We have the “all clear” today to shop and do business. The Moon is in Aries.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Don’t get your belly in a rash today. Because the Moon is in your sign, you more emotional, which is why you might find yourself at odds with authority figures, parents or VIPs. Think before speaking! “I always do.” (Are you kidding?)

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Be content that the Sun is in your sign helping things to go your way today. Don’t make a big deal about differences or disputes that are simmering behind the scenes. Just let matters be. Everything will take care of itself eventually.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Someone older or in a position of authority might disagree with you today. Don’t try to force your point of view upon them. Alternatively, you don’t have to agree with them, either. Something that was hidden might come to light today. Keep an open mind.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Power struggles with bosses, parents and VIPs might take place today. It’s pointless to waste energy arguing about something that is about power and control, and not about facts, logic or an intellectual issue. Just let this one go. Do yourself a favour.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is the classic day for ideological arguments about politics, religion or racial issues. Or you might get embroiled about something related to travel or dealing with people from other cultures. Lighten up! These disputes will not benefit you. “These are not the droids you’re looking for.”

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Avoid heavy-duty discussions about wills, inheritances and shared property today because they will get nasty and probably depressing. You might feel out manoeuvred by someone. Or possibly, someone in a position of authority will put their foot down. Bummer.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

People are obsessed and compulsive about their ideas today, which is why they want to coerce others into agreeing with them. You might fall prey to this. Or you might end up encountering someone (especially a partner or close friend) who tried to do this to you. Nobody wins.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Don’t make a big deal about trying to introduce improvements or reforms to the workplace today. Probably, no one will listen. (And as we all know, there are none so deaf as those who are wearing headphones.) Keep your ideas to yourself and bring them forth another time.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Parents might encounter hissy fits and meltdowns with kids today because it’s easy to fall into a relationship that is essentially a power struggle. Because this is an easy influence today – avoid these power struggles. If there’s something you want to say – do it tomorrow. Timing is everything.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Family disputes might arise today. If they do, they could be nasty because people are entrenched in their views, obsessed and close minded. There is also a tendency to bully and try to win an argument at any cost. Who needs this? Not you. Therefore, don’t get caught up in this.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Resist the urge to try to convince others to agree with you today, which is something you really want to do. For starters, a lot of people aren’t as smart as you. That’s the truth. And they certainly aren’t as modern thinking as you. (You were born 50 years ahead of your time.) Chill out.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Avoid disputes about money, earnings and possessions because they will get nasty. In fact, they will become a power struggle that has nothing to do with the issue and everything to do with winning. Yes, it’s discouraging. Avoid this at all costs.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

The Moon is in your sign today, tomorrow and part of Friday, which gives you a great need to belong and relate to others. Your emotional sensors will be strong, making you more sensitive to the feelings and moods around you. However, you will be emotionally demanding as well as giving.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

In the next few days, the Moon is hidden in your chart, which likewise makes you want to withdraw from others and seek solitude. You’re not being antisocial. It’s just that you prefer your own company. Today and tomorrow are excellent times for mystical, spiritual activities.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Your emotional contact with friends will be important to you today and tomorrow. In fact, you will feel more protective and supportive to friends. In turn, you want to know that you are important to them. (“Am I still your bestie?”)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

For today, tomorrow and part of Friday, the Moon is at the very top of your chart. This is the only time all month this occurs and when it does, among other things, it’s an indication that personal details about your private life are public. (Yikes!) Do you need to do some damage control?

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

For the next three days, you want to expand your horizons! You want to study, learn more and be with people from different backgrounds. If possible, you want to travel and be stimulated by fresh, different environments. You want to feel like you’re getting more out of life! (And why not?)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You will feel more passionately about certain issues today, tomorrow and Friday. Your emotional experiences will be more intense than usual. In particular, you will have definite ideas about shared property, wills, inheritances and insurance matters.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

The Moon will be opposite your sign today, tomorrow and most of Friday. This focuses your attention to your most personal relationships and partnerships. These people will be more important to you than usual. If you have conflict with them, it will be more emotional. Be loving and stay chill.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Until Friday, you might be involved in something where you have to work on behalf of others. You might have to care for someone or put your own needs second because someone else needs your attention. Oh well, this happens sometimes. No biggie.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You can’t hide your feelings from others today, tomorrow and Friday because you’ll be wearing your heart on your sleeve. Romance will be exciting and emotional. You’ll feel particularly protective and nurturing to loved ones, especially children.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Today, tomorrow and Friday you might prefer to cocoon at home or seek the privacy of your inner world. Ideally, you will enjoy a relaxing, pleasant time at home. A conversation with a female family member could be significant. Take time to reflect.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Conversations with siblings, relatives and daily contacts will be important today, tomorrow and Friday because certain issues matter to you. You want to get right down to business and talk about what concerns you; and you don’t want anyone to dodge matters or hide. It’s cards-on-the-table time!

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

You will feel more possessive about something that you own this week, which is why you don’t want to lend things to others. That’s because you will identify with your possessions today, tomorrow and Friday. It’s also why it will please you to take care of them. “My precious!”

If Your Birthday Is Today

Our monthly Crystalscopes pair each zodiac sign with a crystal whose energies can support us through the coming month’s transits. We choose crystals that are accessible and widely available. You may see the same stone pop up from month to month as a medicine for a different sign—consider it an invitation to add to your toolkit!

Also consider low-impact methods like using gem essences and elixirs, buying used crystals, or starting a crystal share with friends. Real magic can only be accomplished by acknowledging our impact on the world around us.

Read these for your sun, moon, and rising signs to learn what you should wear, carry, or place on an altar to help boost your specific astrology for the month. These also work as remediations for specific houses in your natal chart.

Dear Aries, you begin the month with power in communication with the Mars-Mercury sextile on May 1. If people think you’re generally confident and direct, they’ll get an extra wallop of truth and honesty from you this month. To assist you in speaking from your heart—so that everything you say comes from a place of love and consideration—work with amazonite. This stone connects your heart chakra to your throat chakra, and encourages you to communicate from a place of compassion and empathy.  Amazonite also empowers you to believe in the future, especially in terms of romance, which will get a helping hand from the Venus-Mars sextile on May 14.

Happy Birthday, May Taurus! You are blessed by the new moon in your sign on May 4. This is the perfect time to not only set your intentions, but to take action and work toward achieving your goals. No goal is too lofty. Reach for the stars, lift yourself up and don’t play small, because the stars will not lower themselves to meet you. Citrine is the cheerleader of the crystal world. This crystal helps you stay positive and infuses you with the can-do attitude you need this month. Citrine also boosts your confidence, which aligns perfectly with Venus entering your sign on May 15.

Happy Birthday, May Gemini! Be aware of any aggression or arguments you may participate in when Mercury enters Taurus on May 6, and again when Mars enters Cancer on May 15. You may feel a bit more triggered than usual. However, I say “participate” because you have the choice to rise above a difficult situation, instead of further aggravating it. They key is to know that inner peace is sometimes more important than being right. Tap into the power of blue lace agate (yes, again!) to help you calm your mind. Blue lace agates also helps you to communicate your thoughts and opinions in a harmonious way.

Dear Cancer, you have the chance to have some fun this month. On May 15, Mars enters Cancer, making you more emotionally extroverted; make sure what you say aligns with what you feel. On May 18, the moon becomes full in the sign of Scorpio, making you feel mischievous and playful. Use these energies to spice up your life and come out of your shell—and use carnelian to help you tap into your inner fire. This stone stimulates your passionate side, and helps you embrace the adventurous spirit that you may have kept hidden. Carnelian is an aphrodisiac stone and aids you in embracing your carnal desires and expressing your sexuality in healthy ways.

Dear Leo, your intuition and energetic sensitivity will be heightened this month. On May 8, the Sun will form a sextile to Neptune, empowering you to tap into your psychic abilities, your creativity, and your inner knowing. On May 21, the Sun conjuncts Mercury in the sign of Taurus, and you may be prone to overthinking. To harness all this watery energy and calm the mind, work with moonstone. You may feel overwhelmed by your senses or have confusing (but vivid) dreams. Moonstone will help you attain emotional balance and calm anxieties associated with excess psychic energy. Moonstone will also help you make sense of visions, dreams, and any signs you may receive from the universe.

On May 6, Mercury enters Taurus. This combination grounds your thoughts, ideas, and plans into the physical. It is an auspicious time to get the ball rolling on any projects that require your analytical and organizational ingenuity. On May 21, the sun enters Gemini, encouraging you to learn new things—even if you feel you know all there is to know in a particular field or subject. Fluorite aids you in any task that requires mental concentration, offering the focus needed to help you structure your thoughts. It also helps you absorb and integrate new information.

Dear Libra, this month love is the name of the game. On May 14 the Venus-Mars sextile gives a positive boost to your self-confidence—take advantage by putting yourself out there. On May 15, Venus enters Taurus, energizing your sexual and romantic apatite. If you want to draw in a partner that wants more than a physical connection, work with Jade. This stone helps you heal from heartbreaks of the past and opens you up to receiving and trusting in new love. If you have been feeling jaded about love (pun intended) then this stone is for you.

Dear Scorpio, what is your game plan? The Taurus new moon on May 4 asks you to enjoy the present, but plan for the future. The full moon on May 18 in your sign continues this trend, calling you to dive deep within and focus on a clear direction in your life. Labradorite can assist you in seeing beyond what you know, envisioning what could be—what is aligned to your highest good. The magical, reflective sheen of this crystal mirrors the vast universe, with all the stars and galaxies. Labradorite brings you the space of pure potential, where anything can manifest.

Dear Sagittarius, how can you carry an attitude of success and positivity sustainably? The Mercury-Jupiter retrograde on the 2nd and the Venus-Jupiter retrograde trine on the 9th brings wonderful, prosperous energy at the beginning of the month. To keep these high vibes flowing, work with green aventurine. Known as the stone of opportunity, green aventurine will encourage you to look for all potential paths to prosperity. This stone also helps you in leading with your heart. You want to put the effort in things you believe in, you want to do what you love. Use green aventurine to align your ambition with your soul.

Big change is afoot this month. On May 18 you enter a powerful Venus-Uranus conjunction in Taurus. This transit will affect how you view your relationships with your friends, colleagues, romantic partner, and family.  It will also change how you view your relationship with yourself. If you’ve been feeling stuck, get ready to shake things up. To help keep you grounded and ready for what comes your way, work with garnet. This stone activates your survival instinct, helping you navigate your course with strength and grace. It empowers you and wakes up your fighting spirit. Life is about change and transition; keep garnet in your arsenal to keep you nimble.

Dear Aquarius, finance is on your mind at the beginning of the month. The Taurus new moon on May 4 urges you to plant seeds that will reap a healthy harvest. The Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Taurus on May 8 activates new ideas to bring in wealth. To amplify these financially beneficial aspects, add pyrite to your crystal collection. Pyrite encourages you to be assertive and to understand what you are worth so you align with opportunities that deserve. Pyrite is a stone of abundance and manifestation, it was often mistaken for gold, and it will help you realize what true success and prosperity mean to you.

This month, it is important to differentiate between intention and projection. The sun-Neptune sextile on May 9 can affect your emotional sensitivity, making you absorb more than you usually do. Don’t be reactive, be introspective. Just because someone says something that may offend you, it does not mean that they meant to do so. Do not project your issues on others. To keep a rational mind and deflect negativity, work with black tourmaline. This stone absorbs heavy emotions, whether it comes from you or someone else. Black tourmaline helps you honor what you are feeling, so you can be aware of what your needs are in the present moment.

If April showers bring May flowers, get ready for an astrological bloom. After the flurry of activity that the cosmos has delivered since the start of the year, May presents us with an opportunity to rest, breathe, and reap the benefits of the work we’ve done so. far. The planets are aligning to give you space to slow down and smell the flowers—perfect for earthy Taurus season—and redefining your sense of self-care will be important this month, especially ahead of social Gemini’s reign.

At the end of last month, Pluto went retrograde, where it will remain until October. In general, retrogrades are a time when big transformations occur internally, and this is no exception. During this retrograde, Pluto is conjunct Saturn, bringing all things work- and routine-related into focus. Insecurities or fears surrounding your career could bubble up during this time, challenging you to evaluate your resources and confidence. Pluto is known for being daring, dark, and on a mission to find the truth. Prepare for the unexpected during this time, as Pluto will likely be shining a light on some surprises you may have preferred to keep in the dark. Pluto is also associated with sex and desire, so it may well be time to tackle issues around that area of your life.

The new moon on May 4 is poised to be deeply restorative. New moons teach us the value of going within and embracing the darkness. In the sign of Taurus, staying home and finding joy in simple luxuries is the right move. If you’re feeling drained, experiment with your senses. What kinds of smells, tastes, or tactile feelings are you responding to right now? The answers could be an important key to what your body needs this next month.

Be prepared to slow down on May 6, when Mercury enters Taurus. The sign of the bull is steadfast and stable—it doesn’t rush things. You might find delays in projects or accomplishing goals, but this doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Rather, consider this an invitation to really give things the time they deserve. Do be prepared to find yourself in some conversational stalemates as Taurus’ influence on the planet of communication will have people feeling stubborn. Take your time—and a deep breath—and you’ll pull through.

Creature comforts take center stage as Venus enters Taurus (the sign which it rules) on May 15. While Venus is deeply associated with love and romance, it also determines our sense of beauty. Sensual Taurus inspires us to seek beauty, treat ourselves, and focus on quality. This is a good time to rethink your sense of spending. Think about what really matters to you, and thus deserves your investment.

Be careful of emotions running high when Mars enters Cancer (also on May 15). This placement encourages passive-aggressive tendencies, so watch what you say and how you say it. Remember, it’s important to ask for what you need—just do it with compassion and respect.

The full moon in Scorpio on May 18 is a powerful time to work on your shadow self. What scares you? During Uranus retrograde, it’s common for childhood patterns or wounds to come to the surface. This moon is a good time to work on some deep healing.

May 21 Gemini season begins, bringing a renewed sense of joviality and fun. After the recuperation time that occurred at the top of the month, the influx of social activity will feel like a breath of fresh air. Gemini season inspires us to share—who we are, what we know, and what we’ve learned.

May 29 Mercury in Gemini square to Neptune in Pisces—a powerhouse conjunction. You may experience a tension between wanting to connect and feeling oversensitive. You might be too giving of your time, so remember to protect your energy and respect your own boundaries.

May 30 finds Mercury in Gemini opposite Jupiter in Sagittarius, while Venus in Taurus trines Saturn in Capricorn. Conversations today will be bold and worldly—get ready for some philosophical debates! This is also a good day to set a budget or get your finances in order. A trip or adventure you’ve been thinking about could be a great inspiration to start saving.

If you dig deep enough into history, you’ll find that most modern holidays steam from pagan traditions. With the rise of Christianity, many religious leaders repurposed pre-existing pagan holidays to fit a Christian mold to gain access to more of the population and ease the transition from one religion to the next. May Day is no exception. Recognized on the first day of May, May Day is a time to celebrate spring and all the comes with it (think: a beribboned Maypole). But May Day is actually the daughter of three deeply pagan traditions that welcomed the height of spring and offered transmutable material for many of the Christian traditions still embraced today (spoiler: hares, eggs, and beans, the hallmarks of Easter, are all synonymous with fertility). Here are three springtime bacchanals that predate May Day.

Often cited as the earliest May Day celebration, Floralia was celebrated in ancient Rome from April 28–May 3 to honor Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and fertility. Floralia was an expectedly wild party for the ancient Romans, and saw them trading white togas for more colorful clothing—or no clothing at all. The festival included a set of public games know as the Ludi Florales, which featured a gladiator contest, theatrical performances, and circus events. Hares and goats, considered fertility animals, were released during the celebration. Ancient Romans were also encouraged to scatter beans—another symbol of fertility—on the steps of Flora’s temple during the festivities. Floralia was known to be a party for prostitutes, who, in ancient Roman society, were slaves and outcasts. During Floralia, sex workers were not only allowed to observe social events but actively partake in them by dancing naked and fighting in faux gladiator combat.

Beltane is Wiccan Sabbat, and was originally observed throughout Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man. Held on the evening of April 30–May 1 (halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice) the holiday was a nod to the Celtic god Bel (meaning “bright one”), as well as the general life force of light, and was a time to welcome new life and fertility. Beltane can be translated as “bright fire,” and, expectedly, fire played a major part in the revelries. The event kicked off on the night of April 30 with a huge bonfire around which people danced, played music, and made love all night in the woods—a practice called going a-Maying. Participants decorated their homes with flowers and plants such as primrose, rowan, hawthorn, hazel, and marsh marigolds to increase fertility and good fortune. Beltane was also a time in which the aos si (the Irish name for elementals like fairies and spirits) were most active in the mortal realm. People would leave milk on their doorsteps or at the base of trees as an offering to the fairies.

Walpurgisnacht—also known as Walpurgis Night, Hexennacht, or Witches’ Night, depending on who you ask—was a German holiday, celebrated on the eve of April 30–May 1. With its heavy focus on costumes and witchcraft, Walpurgisnacht was almost like an old world incarnation of what we now call Halloween. According to German folklore, on Witches Night’ it was believed that witcheswould meet on the highest peak in the Harz Mountain of central Germany. The witches were said to fly around the mountain as the humans harkened the beginning of spring, dancing around bonfires to increase the chances of fertility.

This pagan tradition shifted somewhat with the arrival of Christianity: Hexennacht became Walpurgisnacht, and Walpurgisnacht became a holiday to honor the English Saint Walpurga, who is credited for driving witches out of Germany. Rather than associating the bonfire with spring and fertility, the bonfire was suddenly said to drive out witches. People began to dance around the bonfire in costume, banging pots and pans to scare away spirits. Some hung foliage from their homes meant to protect themselves. The history of Walpurgisnacht is the ultimate example of a pagan holiday turned on its head to uphold Christianity.

So this May Day, welcome spring with both hope for the future and a backward glance. And good luck keeping your clothes on!

Beltane, the Wiccan Sabbat celebrating the awakening of spring, is held on the evening of April 30. The holiday originally held space for the Celtic god Bel (meaning “bright one”) and the life force that is light. Beltane was a time to embrace new life, fertility, and a general sense of optimism.

In pagan times, people celebrated Beltane by dancing around a large bonfire and getting freaky in the woods. While many may choose to opt out of Beltane’s nudity and promiscuity, there are many ways for the modern bohemian to foster a similar spirit of free-spiritedness and welcome all things spring.

Next to fire, flowers were of the greatest aesthetic import during Beltane. Revelers braided their hair with flowers, scattering blooms throughout their homes and at their doorsteps. Give that tradition a modern twist with a hand-crafted flower crown. Flowers typically associated with Beltane include primrose, marigolds, yellow and orange roses, buttercups, honeysuckles, and jasmine, but feel free to make use of any flowers that draw your eye—or are growing wild in your yard. Don’t forget to add bright, colorful ribbons to your crown to symbolize the May Pole, around which participants danced in the old world.

While you may not be in the ideal location for an al fresco bonfire, you can still incorporate fire magic by way of candles. Set up a small altar in your space. Fill the area with flowers, ribbons, crystals, Tarot cards—any spiritual tools or symbols of manifestation that make sense for the season. Then, light a candle and speak your wishes aloud.

Stumped? Use ours: “I welcome this new beginning. I welcome the spark of life that builds within. The past has been put to rest and a new opportunity have awakened with the song of life.”

Beltane is also when the veil between the mortal realm and the magical world is at its thinnest, meaning that elementals are more like to be out and about. If you want to welcome the fairy folk, place a tiny saucer of milk or tiny pieces of oatmeal cookies by your altar to appease them. Who knows—they might even bring you some good luck in. return.

Beltane may be the holiday of carnal pleasure, but you don’t have to have sex in order to celebrate—unless you want to, of course. Even if it’s a solo act or the simple notion of feeling confident, Beltane is a great time to celebrate your sexuality. Take a long hot bath, wear flowy clothing, or get a massage. Remember, during Beltane, clothing is entirely optional. Do whatever makes you feel alive and in your body, whether that manifests as an at-home facial, making love, or pleasuring yourself. You do you.

As with most holidays, food plays a very important role in Beltane’s festivities. The holiday marked not only the height of spring, but also the time when cattle and livestock were herded out into the summer pastures. Traditional rituals to protect crops, dairy products, and people abounded—nd there were, of course, feasts. If you’re planning a little dinner party for Beltane, grains and dairy products should top the menu. If you’re a baker, whip up some tasty oatmeal cookies. Planning a more sensual night? Strawberries and cream. And if you’re busy or don’t have the energy, ice cream for dinner is wholly appropriate.

Beltane is all about revelry, dancing, and music, so put on your favorite jams and dance like no one’s watching. Let your body do whatever it wants. When we move naturally we are in flow with the universe, offering physicality to free-flowing energy. So, along with bringing you joy, dancing allows the unseen to dance through you. And that’s pretty magical.

I am sorry but the phone will not stop ringing this morning….May Eve/Mayday

May Eve/Mayday

May Eve/ Mayday – Beltane Beltane is celebrated on May 1 or April 30. It is also known by the name, May Eve. Beltane is one of the important festivals in the wicca calendar. It is also called the fertility festival.

The accessories used during this festival are blooming flowers, colored ribbons, chaplets and crowns of leaves and flowers, and poles decorated with flowers, leaves, and fruit. The dominant colors are green, white, and pink. It is an excellent festival for rituals of love and sex, and for everything to do with fertility.

In myths, the goddess and the god reach sexual maturity and are aware of their sexuality. The goddess changes from a virgin to a mother. This is the springtime, the time for sowing and planting, and the mating period for animals. In agrarian societies, it was customary to bless the fields, and couples would go out to the fields and make love in the bosom of nature in order to help renew the fertility of the earth symbolically. Witch order to celebrate the new season of blossoming. Sometimes a “May-queen” and a “May-king” are appointed, and they become the representatives of the goddess and the god for a day. They serve as spiritual advisors to the members of the group. Only people who have gone through initiation can be appointed queen or king. In different traditions, there is a custom of exchanging gifts of May baskets along with wishes for fertility and a prosperous summer.

Beltane is a happy festival. Spring is already here and summer is coming. It is also the season for the festivals that take place outdoors in nature.

Sorry I ran off for a moment but today is Lady Beltane’s Birthday

And I had to run over to Coven Life and embarrass the  heck out of her. I put up a great big “Happy Birthday” banner and then sung, Happy Birthday to her. Not really, I couldn’t carry a note in a bucket. She would be stone cold deaf, if I sung to her. But if you got a moment, wish our dear friend and sister a very Happy Birthday today!

She didn’t leave the country, this is a banner I made last year. Didn’t have time to make a new one, so I re-cycled and re-used, I ‘m going green, Yippee!

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday, dear witchie-poo!

Happy Birthday to you!

Have a very beautiful & blessed day, sis!

We Love You!

Am Beannachadh Bealltain

(The Beltane Blessing)

Bless, O threefold true and bountiful,
Myself, my spouse, my children.
Bless everything within my dwelling and in my possession,
Bless the kine and crops, the flocks and corn,
From Samhain Eve to Beltane Eve,
With goodly progress and gentle blessing,
From sea to sea, and every river mouth,
From wave to wave, and base of waterfall.

Be the Maiden, Mother, and Crone,
Taking possession of all to me belonging.
Be the Horned God, the Wild Spirit of the Forest,
Protecting me in truth and honor.
Satisfy my soul and shield my loved ones,
Blessing every thing and every one,
All my land and my surroundings.
Great gods who create and bring life to all,
I ask for your blessings on this day of fire.
