Your Daily Magickal Applications for Tuesday

Tuesday is the day associated with the planet Mars. In mythology, Mars was the Roman god of war. If you’re wondering how this day came to be named, it’s because to the Norse, Anglo-Saxon, and Germanic people, this day was Tiw’s day (Tuesday). Tuesday actually got its name from the Norse deity Tyr, Tiw, or Tiu, who was also a god of battles and courage. This deity was very similar to the Roman Mars, and the names of the days of the week became switched and substituted as the Germanic peoples replaced the older deities with their own gods. So the name was changed from the Latin Dies Martis (“Mars’ day”) to the old English Tiwesdaeg.

The Norse god Tiw, or Tyr, was known for his sense of justice, discipline, and integrity. This day’s planetary influence brings with it the aggression, bravery, and honor of soldiers, as well as the passion and strength of those of us who must fight for what we believe in.

Tuesday is a Mars day, and just like the god of war, this is the time to tap into magicks to call for strength and courage. This day of the week is for rebels and warriors. If you are facing a challenge of any kind, need a boost to your courage, or want to enhance your passions, Tuesday is the day of the week for you. Some suggestions for Tuesday enchantments would include:

*Carrying a bloodstone in your pocket or wearing garnet-studded jewelry to reinforce your convictions

*Working with protective and fire-associated plants such as the snapdragon, thistle, and holly to boost your shields and bravery

*Burning spicy-scented energy-enhancing candles to add a little magical aromatherapy to your home

*Cooking up a hearty meal featuring carrots, peppers, and garlic (all Mars foods and spices) to empower yourself for victory and success

Moon in Aquarius

Good Wicca

Moon in Aquarius

Moon in Aquarius people are extremely observant. They are life-time students of human nature, loving to analyze why people do what they do. This often stems from a detached— even shy— personality, especially in youth. Whether due to character or conditioning, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling “different”. Although rather sociable, they are often loners at heart. Many have strong egos, or at least powerful defense mechanisms, and most Lunar Aquarians will do their best to be the most unique and unusual person they can be. Their inner feeling of loneliness —that they don’t quite fit in— puts them on the outside, looking in.
There is a very idealistic and progressive streak in Lunar Aquarians that is admirable indeed. However, when the Moon is in Aquarius, natives often will deny the more irrational qualities of emotions—such as jealousy, possessiveness, and fear—in an effort to be “above” what they consider “pettiness”. When this goes too far, Lunar Aquarians can be emotionally blocked, distant, and detached.
Lunar Aquarians can be very willful, especially in childhood. With age, these natives generally learn to handle their strong needs. Their desire for independence is powerful indeed, no matter what their age. With a quiet Sun and/or Ascendant, their desire to “shock” others is not always apparent until a relationship becomes comfortable. They are generally proud of their family members, boasting just how unique they are. When their families are ultra-conservative, the boast will be that they rebelled against all of that!
Although given to temper tantrums and willful behavior in youth, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling that messy emotions are unappealing. They often pride themselves for being cool-headed, detached, and “above” what they consider the baser emotions. In the process, they can end up alienating others—and themselves. Although Lunar Aquarians can be especially adept at understanding others’ behavior and motivations, they can lose touch with their own—simply because they have identified too strongly with what they aspire to be (and these aspirations are often super-human).
The Aquarian tendency to be humanitarian shows up powerfully in Moon in Aquarius. However, their kindness and concern for others is generally more a broad philosophy of life. With people close to them, Moon in Aquarius natives can seemingly lack compassion, as they often fully expect others to be as independent and detached as they are! In close, personal relationships, however, Lunar Aquarians generally give others a lot of personal freedom, and they will tolerate and enjoy all kinds of idiosyncrasies in people around them.
Moon in Aquarius people are rarely flighty people, but they can be unreliable when it concerns the little things in life. Often, this is simply an assertion of their independence. In the long haul, however, they are rather constant, as Aquarius is a fixed sign. As long as they have their own space and the freedom to be themselves, however kooky that may be, they are trustworthy and loyal.
Lunar Aquarians generally make wonderful friends. They’ll make a point of leaving nobody on the outside. Many will fight for other’s rights and crusade for equality.
What may be surprising is that Moon in Aquarius people have a lot of pride. In fact, when they’ve been attacked in any way (especially regarding their character), they can become very inflexible and cool. It can be difficult to know just how sensitive to criticism Lunar Aquarians are, simply because they hide it so well! When their character or behavior has been criticized, they tend to dig in their heels and keep right on doing it. They fully expect others to accept them exactly as they are, or they don’t have much use for them in their lives.
These sometimes maddeningly unpredictable people are nevertheless quite charming. They have an unmistakable stubborn streak, but when left to be themselves, they make unusual and endlessly interesting people to be around. Life just wouldn’t be the same without Lunar Aquarians’ unusual spin on the world and the people in it!

The Witches Guide to Tuesday

Tuesday is the day to work any magick that falls in the category of increasing strength, courage, bravery, and passion. All of these intense emotions are linked to this day’s energies, and spells designed around these themes will have extra punch when performed on this magickal day

So, let’s add a little passion and conviction into your life! Break out the daring red pieces of your wardrobe, and put a little pizzazz into your day. Work with Lilith, and see what she has to teach you about personal power and sexuality. Meditate onTiw/Tyr and Mars, and see what those ancient warrior gods will show you about new tactics, strategies, and claiming personal victories in your life. Practice conjuring up that astral weapon from the meditation and use it wisely for protection and for courage.

Create a philter for courage and protection or handcraft your own Witch’s jar to remove negativity from your home. See what other Witch crafts you can conjure up with Tuesday’s magick. Create some kitchen magick on this Tuesday by whipping up a spicy stew-add in a few Mars-associated ingredients such as carrots, peppers, and garlic. Empower the stew for success, and then treat yourself and your family to a good, hearty meal. Try working with a little aromatherapy and burn some spicy or coffee-scented candles to increase your energy level.

Check the sky at night, and see if you can find the reddish planet Mars up in the heavens. Not sure where to look? Check an astronomy magazine or search the Web for more information. Become a magickal warrior and move forward in your life with strength, courage, and compassion. Embrace the side of yourself that loves a good challenge and that is passionate and daring! Banish fear, and face your future with strength and conviction. Believe in yourself and in your dreams, work hard, and you will win every time.

The Magickal Day of Tuesday

Blessed Are The Witches

The Magickal Day of Tuesday

Named for the Norse god Tyr, who was a deity of heroism and combat, Tuesday is a very martial sort of day – color associations include bright red and oranges, as well as warrior-like metals such as iron and steel.

The ancient Romans called this day Martis, after the warrior god Mars – other deities associated with Tuesday include Ares, the Morrighan, and other gods of battle and glory. Red gemstones like rubies and garnets come into play on Tuesdays, as do herbs and plants such as thistles, holly, coneflowers and cacti – you’ll notice these are all sharp, prickly plants!

One of the interesting – and more than a little amusing – aspects of Tuesday magic is that in addition to war and conflict against your enemies, this is a day also associated with marriage. You can also use this day of the week for magical workings connected to protection and initiation. Use Tuesday to assert yourself, make a mark and stake your claims

Celtic Tree Month of Huath(Hawthorne)

The Witching Hour
Celtic Tree Month of Huath(Hawthorne)

May 13 – June 9

The Hawthorn is a prickly sort of plant with beautiful blossoms. Called Huath by the ancient Celts, and pronounced Hoh-uh, the Hawthorn month is a time of fertility, masculine energy, and fire. Coming right on the heels of Beltane, this month is a time when male potency is high — if you’re hoping to conceive a child, get busy this month! The Hawthorn has a raw, phallic sort of energy about it — use it for magic related to masculine power, business decisions, making professional connections. The Hawthorn is also associated with the realm of Faerie, and when the Hawthorn grows in tandem with an Ash and Oak, it is said to attract the Fae.

About The Goddess of the Month – Hera

Witch
About The Goddess of the Month – Hera

HERA WAS HONORED AS the goddess of marriage in ancient Greece. As ruler of this sacred institution, she was responsible for its protection. Her anger when the bonds of matrimony were not respected is perhaps as legendary as her difficult, tempestuous relationship with her husband Zeus, the powerful ruler of the Greek gods and goddesses.

To win Hera as his bride, Zeus courted her for three hundred years upon the island of Samos, the goddess’s birthplace. Frustrated by his lack of success, he transformed himself into a cuckoo. Hera, charmed by the bird, allowed it into her lap, where Zeus immediately took back his natural form and seduced her. But marital happiness was not to be had: The god was as notoriously unfaithful to Hera as she was loyal to him. He had affairs with many women, including the mortal Danae and the divine Maia. Hera’s anger at Zeus’s infidelity was often expressed in the form of storms as violent as their domestic squabbling.

Sacred to Hera are the pomegranate and the lily—two potent symbols of feminine fertility seen in many cultures around the world—as well as oxen, trees, and mountains. Ancient rituals to Hera usually involved the use of these elements in some way or form

The Sky This Week for May 16 to 21

The Summer Triangle, the Big Dipper, and other cool things to look for in the sky this week.
By Richard Talcott

Tuesday, May 16

Venus appears brilliant in the eastern sky from the time it rises around 4 a.m. local daylight time until close to sunrise nearly two hours later. It stands 10° above the horizon an hour before the Sun comes up. Shining at magnitude –4.6, it easily ranks as the night sky’s brightest light after the Moon. When viewed through a telescope this morning, Venus spans 30″ and appears about 40 percent lit.

Wednesday, May 17

Mercury reaches greatest elongation today, when it lies 26° west of the Sun and appears 4° above the eastern horizon 30 minutes before sunrise. To locate the innermost planet, scan the area to the lower left of Venus with binoculars. Mercury shines at magnitude 0.5 and should stand out with this optical aid, though you may have a hard time spying it against the twilight glow with your naked eye. Because the planet grows brighter during the next two weeks and doesn’t lose any altitude, you can follow it through the end of May.

Thursday, May 18

Last Quarter Moon occurs at 8:33 p.m. EDT. When it rises around 2 a.m. local daylight time tomorrow morning, it will appear a bit less than half-lit. Earth’s only natural satellite appears against the backdrop of Aquarius the Water-bearer.

Saturn starts today among the background stars of western Sagittarius but crosses the invisible border into Ophiuchus by day’s end. It will remain among the Serpent-bearer’s stars until November, when it moves back into Sagittarius.

Friday, May 19

The Big Dipper’s familiar shape lies nearly overhead on May evenings. The spring sky’s finest binocular double star marks the bend of the Dipper’s handle. Mizar shines at 2nd magnitude, some six times brighter than its 4th-magnitude companion, Alcor. Even though these two are not physically related, they make a fine sight through binoculars. (People with good eyesight often can split the pair without optical aid.) A small telescope reveals Mizar itself as double — and these components do orbit each other.

Saturday, May 20

Mars’ days as a prominent evening object are dwindling to a precious few. The Red Planet appears 10° high in the west-northwest 45 minutes after sunset and dips below the horizon shortly before 10 p.m. local daylight time. The magnitude 1.7 planet lies among the background stars of Taurus the Bull. Unfortunately, a telescope shows no detail on the ruddy world’s 4″-diameter disk.

Sunday, May 21

The sky’s brightest asteroid should be relatively easy to find through binoculars or a telescope this evening. Eighth-magnitude Vesta resides in the constellation Cancer the Crab just 3° north of the spectacular Beehive star cluster (M44). To confirm a sighting, sketch four or five stars in the field of view and then return to the same field a night or two later. Vesta will be the “star” that moved. And while you’re in the area, be sure to enjoy a view of the Beehive. You should be able to spot the cluster as a faint and fuzzy cloud with your naked eye. But M44 explodes into dozens of stars through binoculars or a small telescope at low power.

And so the world awakes, one cell at a time
One cell in happy awareness of union with the divine
Your time has come daughter of Light arise in your wakefulness and help to create paradise, in love and joy
Be a conscious participant Live in the now.
Not tomorrow or yesterday but in the only time that is real, eternity.

A Very Beautiful & Blessed Monday to all our dear Brothers & Sisters of the Craft!

May the Goddess bless you & yours on this beautiful Monday Morning! It is actually beginning to look and feel like Summer around here. It won’t be long to the official start of it anyway. Just imagine, long, hot days, we will be wishing for Winter to come, lol! Always works that way. We are very glad you joined us today. We are starting off with one of the most beautiful Pagan poems I personally believe that was ever written. I hope you enjoy it as much as I or I should say we do…..

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace, how sweet the Earth
that bore a witch like me!
I once was burned, now I survive,
was hung and now I sing.

T’was grace that drew down the moon
and grace that raised the seas.
The magic in the people’s will
will set our Mother free.

We face the East and breathe the winds
that move across this earth.
From gentle breeze to hurricane
our breath will bring forth the change.

Turn towards the South and feel the fire
that burns in you and me.
The spirit’s flame will rise again
and burn eternally.

We greet the West, our souls awash
in tides of primal birth.
Our tears and blood, our pain and love
will cleanse and heal the earth.

Reach into the North and know your roots
down deep ancestral caves.
We find the wisdom of the Crone,
Of circles we are made.

Amazing earth, enduring life,
from death into rebirth.
T’is earth I am and earth I love
and earth I’ll always be.

Amazing grace, how sweet the Earth
that bore witches like we.
We once were burned, now we survive,
were hung and now we sing.

Goddess bless, so mote it be,
Our magic spirals on.
Merry meet and merry part
and merry meet again.

Let’s Get Down To Brass Tacks, A Serious Talk About Witchcraft

You have heard all the old myths, tales and stereotypes about Witches. Now listen to the truth about Witches and Witchcraft. Lady of the Abyss give a very frank and open discussion about Witchcraft, from the beginning of time through the Burning Times up until modern day. Hear the stories and the truth that mainstream religion and Hollywood don’t want you to know. Also after Lady Abyss’ discussion, there are two reading from the Pagan author, Scott Cunningham from his Book of Shadows called “The Standing Stones.” Both of these readings are accepted as being part of our Craft. Mr. Cunningham is a well known and recognized authority on Wicca and Witchcraft. Between Lady Abyss and Scott Cunningham, you will have a clearer view of what Witches and the Craft are really about.
