Tidbits On Crystals – Jet & Amber

 

 

Traditionally, Witch’s necklaces were often made from a combination of jet and amber. Although they are usually listed with gemstones, neither of them is actually a stone.

Jet is fossilized wood and amber is fossilized resin. They are both very, very old, which may be part of their mystique. In fact, amber is said to be the oldest form of adornment worn by humans, and beads made out of the resin have been found in graves going back as far as 8000 BCE.

Amber is a clear yellowy orange, and jet is a glossy black. Together, they represent the god and goddess, and they are reputed to increase the magickal power of the wearer. They are both used to absorb negativity and increase health.
