‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for April 24th

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

There seems to be two important things to do in times of difficulty. One is to pray and the other to keep our sense of humor. The first is essential to make the basic correction and the other is necessary to balance the human spirit while things work out.

Without a sense of humor, we tend to become too serious about the personal self. It becomes all too important, too self-righteous, and far too self-centered.

At the first sign of trouble, we may want to find someone wiser in whom to confide and ask questions. And their advice may be most helpful, but it is still our own responsibility to get off our backs and do it with dignity and self-respect that will not lower our standards nor cause us embarrassment. And humor can help us do it.

There is humor in every situation if we can detach ourselves from the seriousness of it long enough to look for it. Abraham Lincoln knew the importance of his sense of humor and said, “With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die.”

Elder’s Meditation of the Day April 24

Elder’s Meditation of the Day April 24

“Each person’s prayers can help everyone.”

–Thomas Yellowtail, CROW

Prayer is our entrance into the Unseen World. It is by prayer we can call upon the powers and laws of the Great Spirit. The Spirit World has powers and laws that are different from the Physical World. The spiritual laws allow healing to take place; they allow forgiveness to occur; they cause miracles to happen; they cause hate to disappear; they heal broken relationships; they guide every moment of our lives; they allow us to love even when it’s hard. Prayer allows us access to the Spirit World.

Creator, teach me to pray.

April 24 – Daily Feast

April 24 – Daily Feast

The wild pink verbena that grew so profusely along the slopes have moved to another area. In their place are yellow flowers, unfamiliar but like sunshine after a shower. A familiar saying is that the more something changes the more it stays the same. Flowers, like people and circumstances, change so swiftly and unexpectedly that it seems like the very foundation of the familiar is moving and changing before us. The Cherokees call this, a ma yi, creek water. It is always moving and changing before our eyes. Nature reminds us to renew our minds – to update and enlarge our vision instead of accepting the daily changes of the world that come to nothing. No one has ever been so perfect that he cannot surpass himself and bloom more brilliantly in another area.

~ When we lift our hands we signify our dependence on the Great Spirit. ~

The Daily Motivator for April 24th – Sincerely love

Sincerely love

Let go of the need to desire what the world says you should desire. Let yourself truly enjoy being who you are and living richly in the moment you’re in.

Worldly fame and fortune are mere artifacts of the things that really matter. Choose to love what you sincerely love, without the unnecessary pressure of having to impress anyone.

You don’t need permission, or certain specific circumstances, to be beautiful. You already are uniquely beautiful and worthy of a magnificent life.

Go ahead and live that life now, right where you are, with what you have, doing whatever you’re doing. Instead of placing arbitrary judgments on your situation, give your own profound love and meaning to it.

There is no limit to the joy you can create and the fulfillment you can experience on this very day. Everywhere you’ll discover beauty to be found and opportunities for living with true richness.

Stop fretting about what everyone else might do or say or think. Give your energy to all that you sincerely love, and live the great, wonderful fortune that is already within you.

The Daily OM for April 24th – The Wisdom of Surrender

The Wisdom of Surrender
Resistance Equals Persistence

by Madisyn Taylor

Resistance tends to strengthen the energies it attempts to oppose by giving them power and energy to work against.

We all know the feeling of being repeatedly haunted by the same issue, no matter how we try to ignore it, avoid it, or run away from it. Sometimes it seems that we can get rid of something we don’t want by simply pushing it away. Most of the time, the more we push away, the more we get pushed back. There are laws of physics and metaphysics that explain this phenomenon, which is often summed up in this pithy phrase: That which you resist persists.

Resistance tends to strengthen the energies it attempts to oppose by giving them power and energy to work against. Additionally, resistance keeps us from learning more about what we resist. In order to fully understand something, we must open to it enough to receive its energy; otherwise, we remain ignorant of its lessons. There is a Tibetan story of a monk who retreats to meditate in a cave only to be plagued by demons. He tries everything—chasing, fighting, hiding—to get the demons out of his cave, but the thing that finally works is surrender. He simply lets them have their way with him and only then do they disappear.

Now, this wisdom must be applied practically. We are not meant to get ourselves physically injured. Instead, this story speaks of how, in essence, our demons are inside of us. What plagues and pursues us on an inner level has a way of manifesting itself in our environment in the form of people, events, and issues that appear to be beyond our control. But all these external expressions are reflections of our insides, and it is inside ourselves that we can safely experiment with surrendering to what we fear and dislike. It may feel scary, and we may find ourselves in the company of a lot of resistance as we begin the process of opening to what we fear. But the more we learn to surrender, and the more the demons that plague us disappear in the process, the more courageous we will become.

A Candle Spell for Passionate Love

A Candle Spell for Passionate Love

To draw a passionate love your way, during a waxing Moon gather two taper candles, one pink and one red, and some red thread and jasmine oil.

Anoint the candles with jasmine oil using your fingertips, then light them while visualizing the flames of passion growing between yourself and new, but yet unknown, love.

Link the candles together by making a figure eight between them with the thread while repeating:

“Flames of passion and seeds of romance grow;
I open my heart to love. Now the one who seeks me shall
come.”

For best results, enact the spell on three consecutive nights.

A Candle Spell for Justice or Help in Legal Matters

CANDLE SPELL FOR JUSTICE OR HELP IN LEGAL MATTERS

It does not require a sword only Tarot and candles. You might want to burn some herbs or incense associated with justice while doing this spell. Also a simple yet incredibly powerful protection spell is done with a small or medium sized mirror you can hold in your hands.

While holding the mirror facing outwards in other words not showing your reflection but turned to reflect out, turn in a counter clockwise circle to banish while saying:

Circle of reflection, Circle of protection,
May the sender of all harm, Feel the power of this charm.

This does not send any negative energy at the sender hence eliminating the cause and effect portion of negativity adding to negativity but it reflects back anything being directed at you. So it bounces off you instead of affecting you.

Circle three times full round chanting this or until you feel it is complete, then make a closing statement such as:

“So Mote Be It.”

ALL PURPOSE CANDLE ANOINTING OIL

ALL PURPOSE CANDLE ANOINTING OIL

Items You Will Need:

1 cup rose petals
1 cup violets
1 cup water
1 cup olive oil
1 tbsp clove oil
2 teaspoons powdered cinnamon
1 tablespoon powdered myrrh
1/4 cup wild fennel seeds

Gather rose petals and violets at sunrise. Place them in a clean ceramic crock. Cover with water (fresh rain water, preferably) and let crock sit in a sunny location for three days until an oily film (the essential oil of the flowers) is seen floating on top of the water.

Remove oil from water by carefully absorbing it into a small cotton ball. Squeeze out oil into a clean, long-necked glass bottle. Add olive and clove oils, and swirl gently in a clockwise direction to slowly agitate oils.

Next, add cinnamon, myrrh, and fennel seeds. Seal bottle tightly and store it in a dark, cool place. After four weeks, strain through cheesecloth and use to anoint candles.

New Job Candle Burning Magick

NEW JOB CANDLE BURNING MAGICK

Items You Will Need:

Goddess Candle
God Candle
Incense
Green Candle
Good Luck Oil
Black Candle
Banishing Oil
Petitioner Candle

The Spell:

Build your altar. Place the Petitioner candle beneath the Goddess candle and place the green and black candles beneath the God candle.

Light the incense. Anoint the black candle with banishing oil and say,

“Empower this candle to absorb all negative forces acting upon me.
As this candle burns, let it’s powers engulf all obstacles in my way,
leaving my path clear for success.”

Light the black candle. Anoint green candle with good luck oil and say,

“I empower this candle to bring me good luck, prosperity and success
in acquiring a new and better job. As this candle burns, so might it
be a beacon for good fortune and prosperity.”

Light the green candle. You need not anoint the petitioner candle, but focus strongly on this person (if it is yourself, see yourself in your new job) as you light it, saying,

“As this candle represents {name}, let it be a beacon for positive forces and energies.
As this candle burns bright, so does the light of {names}’s heart burn bright with ambition
and desire for a new, better job.”

Concentrate firmly, directing your power to the petitioner candle, which is receiving the energy from the green candle that is burning. After ten minutes or so of concentration, extinguish the candles in the reverse order in which you lit them. Each day, repeat the spell, moving the green candle two inches closer to the petitioner.

Your spell is complete when the two candles touch.

Spell To Change Fate (Wishing Candle Spell)

SPELL TO CHANGE FATE

(the wishing candle spell)

Be forewarned, changing may make some parts of your life stronger, yet other parts weaker.

Materials:

– A special candle chosen especially for the spell

– A pentacle with corresponding symbols like Saturn and symbols of what you wish to change written on it.

– 4 black candles smaller than the special candle (wishing candle)

Preparations:

Set up altar with the four candles in each corner, and in the center put the pentacle and the wishing candle over it. Wait to do the spell until the full moon, and then make sure you do it at night and where the stars are in full view.

Procedure:

On the new moon, look unto the sky for the 7 brighteststars. Hold up a lighter and say/chant:

“I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish this night.

For change of ______ this night I ask, and by the flame, I ask it last.

Seven brightest stars in the sky, light the flame I hold high.”

With this light your matches/lighter, light the wishing candle, and light the little candles in it’s flame. Now go about business as usual.

Candle Smoke

Always watch the direction that the candle smoke moves. In its movement is a message. Here are the signs when watching the candle’s smoke:

1. Northern Movement –

Something physical is manifesting. You will have to work for what you wish to achieve.

2. Eastern Movement –

Something mental is manifesting. Think things through and have patience in situations.

3. Southern Movement –

Something intense and short lived is manifesting. Success comes rapidly and with intensity.

4. Western Movement –

The manifestation of strong Magic intervention. The issue is too emotional. You are too involved – step away for a time. Clear your thoughts.

How To Charge The Oils (and their magickal properties) Used In Candle Charging

How To Charge The Oils (and their magickal properties) Used In Candle Charging

In a candle spell, we first charge the candle (or empower it), directing our own energy into the candle. This, like raising our energy before the spell, This, like raising our energy before the spell, is very necessary. Without charging, the candle basically has no power to bring you what you need. This energy we direct into the candle is then released when the candle burns, going into the world to create the change we desire. While charging a candle for a spell, anoint the candle at the same time. Anointing is simply rubbing oil, on the candle, intending to help direct energy into the candle. When performing a spell to attract something, or performing a positive spell of any kind, the candle is held between the index finger and thumb of your receptive hand (the hand you DON’T write with), and oil is rubbed on the candle from the tip to the center- and then from the bottom to the center with the finger and thumb of your projective hand (the hand you DO write with). The candle is never rubbed back and forth. By rubbing inward from the tip and inward from the bottom, we are “drawing” our intended goal to us.

To charge a candle for a spell to banish or dispel negativity of any kind, anoint the candle from the center outward. Hold the candle with the index finger and thumb of your receptive hand and rub the oil on with your projective hand- from the center to the tip, and from the center to the bottom. Again, never rub back and forth. Make sure to check the MOON phase before working any spell.

When using oils, make sure they are not synthetic but pure in form. I am listing a few of my favorite oils and there uses in magick:

To obtain peace – Myrrh Oil, gardenia,

To obtain protection – Lotus, lilac, frankincense, cinnamon, Juniper and Myrrh

To obtain employment – Success Oil

To obtain money – Bayberry, clove, heliotrope, bergamot, honeysuckle and peppermint

To obtain courage – High John the Conqueror and Yarrow

To bring about love – Rose Oil. frangipani, Musk, lavender Oil

To banish unwanted influences – your personal Zodiac Oil (mine Sagittarius), lilac

To protect against psychic attach – Jasmine, Lilac and Magnolia Oil

To strengthen psychic abilities – honeysuckle, myrrh, sage

To break a hex – Witch bane Oil

To obtain love – Dragon’s Blood Oil, Rose, Amber, Ylang Ylang, Vanilla and Frankincense Oil

To obtain sleep – Chamomile Oil, Lavender

To obtain happiness – Amber, bergamot, gardenia oil,

To obtain spiritual purification – Clove Oil, Cedar, myrrh, patchouli,

To bring about healing – Peppermint Oil , cedar, myrrh, gardenia, Lavender and Sandalwood Oil

To obtain elemental powers – Patchouli Oil

To master a situation – Bayberry Oil

To obtain strength – Pine, yarrow, rosemary oil

While anointing the candle, focus on the goal of your spell. Then imagine sending the energy you raised into the candle, flowing from your body and out your finger tips. Focusing completely upon what you are doing is necessary in any spell. Don’t allow your mind to wander. Focus on the outcome of the spell, and directing your energy. The list above will help you match the oil and candle needed for your “charging” and then the spell.

This is just a small list, there are hundreds of oils available at different stores throughout the world. I recommend studying the different oils and create your own.

How To Work Candle Magick

TO WORK CANDLE MAGICK

Hold your hands on each side of the candle and mentally pour thoughts of your aim into the candle. When you are ready, light the candle, say:

Candle of power, candle of might,
Create my desires here on this night.
Power, stream from this candle’s fire.
Bring to me my heart’s desire.
My words have strength, the victory’s won.
So say I. This spell is done.

It is best to let the candle burn to the end.

Remember: The longer you let the candle burn, the stronger the spell,

Candles and Sympathetic Magick

Candles and Sympathetic Magick

Candles moulded into shapes are considered sympathetic magick. Our ancestors at some point placed animal head-dresses on their heads and animal skins on their backs to ask their spirits for good hunting. This is also a type of sympathetic magick; using a like object to reach our intent. To assist you in finding a familiar, burn a candle of the animal you desire.

For a hunter in buck season, burn a candle for a male deer. In both these instances, you would be contacting the animals’ collective unconscious to request their assistance.

Fertility spells can be cast with a phallus-shaped candle. Healing spells can be performed with human-shaped candles (pick up those skull-shaped candles around Samhain). White ones are great for healing; black ones for reversing spells or warding off negativity.

Another type of candle/sympathetic magick is to inscribe runes, names, or other magickal symbols directly on the candle before burning. If you are in a real hurry and need results pronto, take a hat pin (yes, they are still around but you have to look for them) and stick it as close as you can to the top of the candle without breaking it. As you are inserting the pin, say: When this candle burns to the pin, the process of (name the desire) will begin. Insert a second pin close to the first, and say:

When this candle burns to this pin, the process of (name desire)
will come to a successful completion, and end.

Of course you may have to re-word the spell, but you get the idea. Candle and colour magick are considered “sympathetic magick” – wherein like attracts like. The colour red, for example, attracts passion, courage and strength. A candle of that colour or any colour acts in the same fashion. Other items commonly used in sympathetic magick are locks of hair, photographs, personal effects of a particular individual, and poppets (dolls). Because these items have a psychic link to the person they have been taken from (the dolls are made with the link), they are very powerful. These things can be used in healing rituals or for drawing good fortune to that person, and aid in eliminating bad habits.

A Little Humor for Your Day – ‘Good News (for who I want to know, lol!)’

Good News

At a nursing home a group of seniors were sitting around talking about all their ailments. “My arms have gotten so weak I can hardly lift this cup of coffee,” said one.

“Yes, I know,” said another. “My cataracts are so bad I can’t even see my coffee.”

“I couldn’t even mark an ‘X’ at election time, my hands are so crippled,”volunteered a third.

“What? Speak up! What? I can’t hear you! said a fourth.

“I can’t turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck,” said a fifth, to which several nodded weakly in agreement.

“My blood pressure pills make me so dizzy I can hardly walk!” exclaimed another.

“I forget where I am, and where I’m going,” said an elderly gent.

“I guess that’s the price we pay for getting old,” winced an old man as he slowly shook his head. The others nodded in agreement.

“Well, count your blessings,” said one woman cheerfully, “thankfully, we can all still drive.”

Daily Feng Shui News for April 24th – ‘Pig in a Blanket Day’

Today is ‘Pig in a Blanket Day,’ but whether wrapped in a blanket or not, the pig is considered a prized possession in traditional Eastern cultures. According to Feng Shui, good fortune comes to households that display symbols or images of a pig. They signify prosperity, wealth, fertility and success in all affairs. In China, it’s the pig and not the dog that’s man’s best friend and considering all of the excellent attributes ascribed to it, now you can see why.
