The flood receded, leaving swamps
where life emerged anew like seeds
sprouting in a mother’s womb.
It was just like spring, when peasants
overturn the soil to find a world
of creatures there, as though the earth
itself crept and wriggled and was alive.
Life begins in heat and water,
those apparent opposites that stir
creation. Thus the sun, rising on
the flooded earth, brought forth new life.
 ~Ovid, Metamorphoses
In the myths of many cultures, the earth is destroyed – often by flood- and then reborn, re-made. So it was in Greek and Roman mythology, which told of a great flood that only the woman Pyrrha and her mate Deucalion survived. Told by an oracle that she would bear children from “the bones of the mother,” Pyrrha figured out that her mother being the earth, the bones would mean the rock skeleton of the planet. Throwing stones behind herself, Pyrrha produced an entire new race of humans to repopulate the earth.
After the destructive flood, the earth replenished itself anew. Such myths capture the special freshness of spring, when all seems reborn. In our own lives, too, we will find times when an order is overturned – a job or love lost, a home transformed – but new order emerges from the ruin. Trusting in such rebirth is difficult, but every spring reminds us that renewal is an inevitable part of life.

Crone’s Corner – We Are In Charge Of Our Attitudes!!!

Crone’s Corner – We Are In Charge Of Our Attitudes!!!

We are in charge of our actions.
We cannot change our pasts.
We cannot change the fact that
people will act in a certain way…
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing that we can do is
play on the one thing string we
have and that is our Attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% of what
happens to you and 90% of how you react to it.
And so it is………….
Courage looks you straight in the eye. She is not impressed with power trippers, and she knows first aid.
Courage is not afraid to weep, and she is not afraid to pray, even when she is not sure who she is praying to.
When she walks it is clear she has made the journey from loneliness to solitude.
The people who told me she was stern were not lying; they just forgot to mention she was kind.

Home Protection Sachet

If you feel concerned about negative influences or thoughts coming your way, hang a small sachet of this in each window (you can hide them behind the curtains if you wish)  and above each external door.

3 parts rosemary

2 parts fennel seed

1 part juniper

1 part dill seed

1 dried chili pepper

1 part the outer skin of garlic

1 part coarse salt (rock salt)

Place in a red cloth tied with a black cord. If you think you know who might be harbouring negative thoughts about you, then you can also place a small mirror facing outwards in the window which most closely points in their direction. This will reflect back any negativity.

Spell – A- Day – Warrior Goddess Spell
Incense of the day: Sage
One of America’s greatest social reformers, and a key feminist icon, Susan B. Anthony, was born on this day. Her passion for social equality parallels many of the characteristics attributed to the Warrior Goddess Diana of ancient Roman mythology. Diana protected those who were less fortunate. To connect with your own inner warrior goddess, go to a grove of pine trees or place some pine branches on your altar, and say: “Lady of the fields and trees, I thank you for all the bounty you have brought to me.” Continue with a specific request, then, to finish the spell, give thanks to the warrior goddess by leaving a small gift. To do so, decorate a pine branch with a silver star, a crescent moon, or an ornament shaped like an arrow.

And when fair Cynthia her full orb displays,
Or when unveiled to sight are half her rays,
Then mark the various hues that paint her face,
And thus the fickle weather’s changes trace.

If the Moon be in Aries, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, or
Capricorn she is in places fit for Sowing; but if she
is placed in Aries or Taurus, she is then fit for planting only.
 The Moon
Clean, clear rainwater puddle, bend down and bathe both hands in the water.
Hold both moistened hands to your temples and ‘breathe in’ the moon in your mind,
filling your senses with silvery cleansing light.
Kiss the last of the water from your fingertips wishing meanwhile that to anyone who would
wish to kiss you, you will be perceived as beautiful and enchanting!
