Lady A’s Spell of the Day for 8/30:Crystal Healing Spell ~Simple
Crystal Healing Spell ~Simple
- 3 candles- 2 light blue & 1 white
- Allspice & Rosemary (equal parts each) or a Healing type incense
- photo or paper with name of recipient
- a small quartz crystal
The Spell:
Place the candles on your altar or workspace in a semi-circle with the white candle between the two blue ones. Place your incense burner above the white candle. Place the person’s name in the centre of the layout, with the quartz crystal on top.
Light the incense then the candles. Centre yourself and inhale the incense as you think of all ill health dispelling from the person and instead being replaced by healing energy, much as the air is filled with the smoke of the incense.
Gather your healing energy and when you feel ready, release the energy, directing it through the crystal and to the recipient who’s name or photo is beneath it.
Give the recipient the crystal to carry as a charm for continued good health.

Crystal of the Day for August 11th – Jasper
Jasper ia a type of quartz coloured by a variety of impurities. Haematite makes jaspers red, limonite makes them brown or yellow and chlorite makes them green.
Jasper has a long history, having been used to make amulets and ornaments for many centuries. Its modern name is thought to derive from the ancient Assyrian word for the stone, ashpu. Not only was it often red, the revered colour of life, but the endless variety of tone and pattern, and the fact that jasper forms in massive, carvable blocks, made it a valuable commodity.
Identification and care
-
Red jasper is very common. When broken and recrystallized with more quartz solution it resembles a mosaic.

Selecting Crystals
There are three simple ways to select the crystals you need, whether for yourself or for others.
-
Look them up in a book. Decide why you need a crystal and search for the appropriate ones to help the condition or symptoms.
-
Follow your intuition. Feeling drawn in any way to a crystal suggests that you need it. It will stand out from the crowd, possibly sparkle and shine, and virtually shout at you, wave, jump up and down, or leap off the shelf. Of course, it may just be interesting or look pretty. However you are drawn to them, theses crystals will help you, sometimes in unexpected or amazing ways. If you are selecting crystals for other people, perhaps as a gift, then keep that person in your mind when choosing. Sometimes it’s helpful to look at a photo of the person, have a personal object that belongs to them, or even just write their name on a piece of paper.
-
Employ a pendulum and dowse for the crystals you need.
If you are selecting crystals intuitively or with a pendulum you can always look up their healing properties in a book. Conversely if you have chosen crystals from a book, you can decide how best to apply them with the aid of a pendulum. The most important thing when choosing a crystal is to trust yourself.

Crystal Systems
Crystals can remain unchanged for millions of years because their constituent atoms are arranged in a stable, regular pattern, called a lattice. This lattice repeats throughout the crystal and ensures that every crystal of the same mineral will show the same geometrical characteristics, with the same number of flat faces always meeting at the same angles. This precise repetition is the same no matter what size the crystal or whether it is a faceted gem or a dull, rough piece. A crystal’s external form is simply a reflection of its internal atomic structure. These shapes have a significant influence over the magickal and healing properties of a crystal.
The lattices fall into seven major types. Different minerals that share the same core pattern will have similar basic shapes. Unfortunately, these simple forms are seldom obvious from the external appearance of crystals owing to the variable conditions in which they form. However, careful scrutiny will allow you to recognize certain identifying traits (for example, the hexagonal cross-section of quartz or emerald).
Birthstones
The link between heavenly bodies and gems is continued in the concept of birthstones. Birthstone lists vary because some are arranged according to the zodiac and some according to calendar months. The list presented here is an abbreviated list of the most authentic traditions. However, it is always more beneficial to use a stone to which you are attracted too, rather than one you feel you should have simply because it is linked to your zodiac sun sign, which is only one aspect of your full birthchart.

The Ceremony
The service commences with the groom and the high priest or priestess approaching the altar, accompanied by hand drummers. Let’s imagine that this ceremony is conducted by a high priestess. The high priestess carries an ornamental cushion with colorful ribbons or cords, draped across it. These will be used later to bind the couple’s hands in matrimony. If it’s a breezy day, the ribbons are pinned to the cushion to keep them in place.
After the groom and the priestess have taken their places at the altar, the drummers return to the bridal party and drum the bride and the handmaidens into the circle. The groom’s attire is of his choosing: he may be wearing a frock coat or a fancy, colorful vest. The bride is usually color-coordinated with the groom. She may wear something long and flowing, not necessarily white, accessorized with a headdress or a wreath of seasonal flowers on her head and possibly a wand tipped with rose quartz. The bride has her handmaidens in attendance throughout the service, and there can be as many or as few as she wants. Their costumes are often very witchlike – long, dramatic, gothic-style dresses in rich fabrics such as velvet, with colors ranging from deep purples and reds to vibrant turquoise. Each handmaiden wears a pentagram necklace or ring.
The Witch’s Wedding Altar
For the ceremony, a lavish full-size altar adorned with a purple cloth is set up outdoors, often near water or a stream. Upon it are placed two large white candles representing the male and the female, and an elaborately decorated broomstick is popped up at the front. The cake, typically fruitcake, is placed in the center of the altar, along with a chalice of red wine, a plate of biscuits and a tiny pot of honey. The wine represents a creative union, The biscuits are a symbol to ensure that the couple will never starve, and the honey is to keep the union sweet. Crystals, such as amethyst and rose quartz, are scattered around the table, along with lots of seasonal flowers and petals. The altar can accommodate almost everything the couple chooses, such as photos, trinkets and personal items, but salt, water and incense are always included. These symbolize the elements and purify the space.
Using Quartz to Ease Unhappiness
If you are feeling out of sorts or can’t shake off a sadness, try this simple spell to lift your spirits. During a new moon phase, take a piece of clear quartz and place it on a bed of sea salt, either on a small plate or in a bowl. Light a white candle next to it and say this spell nine times:
Painful feelings leave me, Bring joy and pleasure swiftly, Angels heal my suffering, Light up my heart with speed. When you have said the spell nine times, close by saying:
So mote it be!Quartz (Clear)
Quartz is one of the most common minerals on earth, but it is considered an essential part of any witch’s crystal collection. It is a multipurpose stone that can be included in almost any spell to bring about a positive result. Quartz is wonderful for balancing emotions, especially if you are trying to heal painful feelings such as child abuse issues or if you have problems with self-esteem. This crystal amplifies magickal wishes and will bring extra power to any spell. Use it to tap into a higher consciousness and to keep in touch with your spiritual side.
Using Hematite To Rediscover Past Lives
I started out yesterday with Crystals and didn’t finish what I planned but I will today………
On a rainy day, leave a piece of hematite outdoors for a few hours. This will increase its power and cleanse it, leaving it ready for use. That evening, carry or wear the stone, allowing it to tune in to your vibration. At bedtime, go to sleep holding it in your hand. As you drift off, ask the angels/deities to open your mind and permit you to take a peek into your past existence. You may have a vision or dream of another lifetime.
Citrine
The “cuddle quartz” as it is often called, carries the energy and colors of the sun. It is a harmonizing stone that can make you feel at peace with the world. If you are lonely hold a piece of citrine and feel the energy of love come into your soul. If you are angry with someone and want to vent your spleen, then citrine will calm you. When witches want a bit more money energy, they use citrine along with money spells. This is the stone of abundance, good luck and inspiration, so keep a piece on you at all times and you will never have to worry about paying your bills?
Amethyst
This lavender-purple crystal has a gentle vibration and can be used for healing or to help clam stress and nerves. When someone is not well, amethyst can be place near the ailing person or worn next to the skin. After the crystal has been worn for a week, it is best to rinse the stone in tepid water every evening for seven days and then let dry it overnight. When the healing process is done, leave the crystal overnight.
Crystal Power
Witches always have crystals somewhere on their person, and if you stroll around their gardens you will often find a piece of amethyst twinkling out at you from a cabbage patch, or perhaps there will be a sliver of quartz nestled somewhere under a bush. Because crystals possess unique properties of conductivity and electrical frequency, they are used in everything from radios to watches to computers. Wiccans value crystals because they are wonderful for changing auras from negative to positive and they help clear destructive energies from our homes and gardens. There are so many types of crystals in the world that it is impossible to list them all here. if you want to learn more about crystals, there are countless books and websites out there, but for now we are going to explore some of the more popular crystals in use today. These are not just worn as jewelry, but often place on our altars to support a spell. You can use any size crystal or stone in a spell, the results will be the same.

Crystals and Color
Qualities like chemical make-up structure, shape, hardness and lustre focus the energies of crystals in certain ways, but colour is the key to how a crystal heals.
We appreciate colour as an adornment, forgetting that it represents a real force – the level of energy in light. This energy stimulates the brain, altering the way we think and feel as well as our physical well-being. Our reaction to colour is instinctive and cannot be controlled. But if we learn the effects of each colour, we will begin to understand why we are drawn to some stones more than others, which will help us to choose the right crystal for every situation.
Many crystals appear in more than one colour. This is because some samples may contain a few extra atoms of an uncharacteristic element that slightly distorts the internal lattice and changes the colour we perceive.
Gem experts discover the true colour of a crystal by a streak test. This involves scraping the crystal across an unglazed ceramic tile to leave a fine dust of particles, revealing the crystal’s underlying colour. The streaks of smoky quartz, violet amethyst, yellow citrine, rose quartz and green aventurine, for example are all grey-white – exactly the same as for clear quartz.

The forms of crystal healing that are in use today arose in the alternative culture of the 1970’s and 1980’s but like many complementary systems, they have developed out of old cultural traditions. The idea that every store has special magickal properties can be traced back through Europe literature of the early Middle Ages to their sources in Greek, Roman and Arabic philosophy which in turn owe much to the Ayurvedic traditions of indian.
Modern crystal healers initially focused very much on the properties of rock crystal (clear quartz). Traditionally crystals of quartz have been highly valued by healers around the world for their ability to connect with spirit worlds, to reveal and diagnose illness and to allow a Shaman or healer to remove the causes of disease. The use of crystals, crystal mirrors and crystal balls for divination is simply a continuation of the long tradition.
These mystical ways of using crystals are usually dismissed by modern science as mere superstition and yet science recognizes the unique – properties of minerals and crystals, making use of their characteristics in everything from wristwatches (quartz), automobile spark-plugs (kyanite), medical lasers (ruby) and space shuttle windows (sapphire).
The pragmatic and metaphysical views of the crystal world may seem to be mutually exclusive. However, both approaches are valuable. One provides useful tools and technologies, while the other enables us to see beyond the attention to one of these sides of our natures, we miss out on a wealth of experience – both are necessary to keep us whole and healthy. Crystal healing can restore fundamental balance to our existence.
