Today honors all the members of the United States Armed Forces who have proudly served their country. Our vets have protected and served us by fighting to keep our country safe and by preserving our rights and way of life. Since today is ‘Veteran’s Day’ I thought I’d post three ways you can thank a veteran. The first is the most obvious: Just say ‘thanks.’ Just that simple act gets good vibes going every time. If you’re more motivated you might volunteer to serve the veterans in your community in some way, or even drop an anonymous ‘Thank You’ note at the local VA. The last thing you can do is to visit the Wounded Warriors Foundation website. Giving back with kindness, gratitude and love is what today is all about.

Daily Feng Shui Tip for November 6th – ‘Election Day’

Today is Election Day in the United States and we’ll be getting out the vote to determine our next president. If I were running for office (or trying to win any contest), I would focus on the ‘Fame’ area of my home or office. I would clear it of clutter and make sure the space was organized and clean. Then I would enlist a symbol of a horse to see me across the proverbial finish line. According to Feng Shui, the horse symbolizes perseverance, strength, and success. It’s believed that placing a symbol or statue of a horse in the ‘Fame’ area of your home or on your office desk will enhance all those characteristics to put you in the Winner’s Circle!

Feng Shui Tip for Oct. 30 ~ ‘Mischief Night,’ ‘Haunted Refrigerator Night,’ ‘Checklist Day’

Not only is it ‘Mischief Night’ and ‘Haunted Refrigerator Night,’ but it’s also ‘Checklist Day.’ So I want you to take out your paper and red pen and make a checklist of nine goals that you would like to achieve in the next year, starting from now. Read that list every day, three times a day, once upon awakening, again at midday, and lastly right before bed. Research has shown that only three percent of people reading this right now will write this list, but those who do will become leaders who will enjoy tremendous success. Don’t you want to be one of that three percent? Check off creating your very own checklist on this day and let someone else make all the mischief. You’ve got millions to make!

Daily Feng Shui for October 26th ~ ‘National Pharmacy Buyer Day’

Today I’d like to blend the energies of today’s ‘National Pharmacy Buyer Day’ with October’s ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’ by telling you about a few supplements from Mother Nature’s pharmacy. Many health practitioners extol the importance of Vitamin D in creating healthy cells, protecting bones and boosting the immune system. Studies show that Vitamin D can also help prevent breast, ovarian and prostrate cancer. In fact, a recent study found that women with healthy levels of Vitamin D in their systems were significantly less at risk of developing cancer. Reports also state that a compound found in red grapes and red wine called resveratrol could also be critical in preventing the formation and spread of certain cancer. The author of that study, Eleanor Rogan, also believes that supplementing with resveratrol can actually stop the entire progression that can lead to breast cancer. As with any advice I offer that deals with illness or imbalance, always check with a qualified professional first. But if you’re looking to proactively end the fear of contracting certain cancers, then these two supplements are a great place to start!

Feng Shui Tip for October 18 – ‘World Menopause Day’

Today’s ‘World Menopause Day’ can really get one hot under the collar. If you or anyone you know has cycled into this next season of life then you’ve probably already experienced hot flashes. A great holistic remedy for night sweats, day flashes and other symptoms of menopause can come through a combination of three herbs, all readily available at most health food stores. The first is dong-quai, the second chaste tree and the third is damiana. Most alternative practitioners recommend taking two capsules (or one drop in warm water) once a day at noon. You should you taper off the herbs once the symptoms start to subside. Reduce the amount you take by half for a week and then half of that dosage for another week. Many people tell me that they’ve restored hormonal balance by using this cure, but always check with a qualified practitioner before starting any treatment.

Feng Shui Tip for October 17 – ‘Black Poetry Day’

On ‘Black Poetry Day’ I’d like to share a wonderful and influential poem by my favorite poet, Langston Hughes. I’ve kept a framed printing of this poem over the top of my bed from the time I was a pre-teen and I firmly believe that it has continued to positively influence every area of my life. The poem is appropriately called ‘Motto’ and goes like this: ‘I play it cool. I dig all jive. That’s the reason. I stay alive. My motto. As I live and learn. Is dig and be dug in return.’ That just about says it all.

Feng Shui Tip for Oct. 12 – ‘World Egg Day’

Since today is ‘World Egg Day’ I thought I would offer a magically delicious egg recipe. Eggs have long been associated with mysticism and they have been revered as a receptacle that holds the essence of life. In fact, eggs have been intimately linked to the spiritual and the divine. According to one ancient belief, eggs are actually considered the perfect symbol of all creation as they not only produce life itself, but the shell represents the element of earth. This belief goes on to say that the membrane of the egg represents air while the yolk symbolizes fire and white water. Possessing all of these elements allows the egg to contain the potential of manifestation. So if you want to become a manifesting machine, start your day with some scrambled eggs in order to activate your personal power. Melt three tablespoons of butter in a shallow heavy pan and set over low heat. Break two medium eggs into a bowl and beat very lightly with a fork. Pour into the pan with the melted butter and lightly stir with a wooden spoon. Continue cooking over low heat, stirring gently while visualizing an intense creative power infusing the eggs. After a few minutes, while the eggs are just setting and still a bit creamy, add two teaspoons of a light cream and salt and pepper to taste. Serve this magically manifesting dish immediately!

Today is called ‘It’s My Party Day’ — and I’ll cry if I want to! You would cry too if it happened to you! At least that’s how that sad old song goes. If your own engagement party just ain’t happening, than maybe it’s time for a little marriage-minded Shui. According to this philosophy, the ‘god of marriage’ named Chieh Lin lives among the stars. In fact, this god is none other than the old man in the moon and he is said to be responsible for all weddings that take place between mortal men. To activate some romance luck inside your own soul mate’s ready space, display a painting, image or photo of the full moon in the ‘Romance’ area of your bedroom, along with a pair of champagne glasses tied together with red cord. Displaying these symbols on the day of the full moon is considered highly auspicious. Now go out and get yourself someone really special to put a smile on your face. Because it’s your party and there’s no crying allowed!

Your Daily Cosmic Calendar for March 29th

Since my own mother and father actually owned one of these, I am honored to offer advice for positive energies to infuse today’s ‘National Mom and Pop Business Day.’ There is actually a secret Feng Shui cure that promises Mom and Pop some success if they follow this empowering and effective tip. First, the owner will need a white vase with nine, eighteen or twenty-seven inches of red ribbon tied around it. A traditional Feng Shui bamboo flute with red ribbon tied around it will also be needed (real Feng Shui bamboo flutes come with a red tassel or red string tied around them). This magic flute gets put inside the white vase, and then, starting at the front entryway to the business, the owners should carry the vase with the flute in a clockwise direction around the entire perimeter of the space. The vase should then be placed in proximity to the place where payments will be accepted, be that a cash register, computer or even an accountant’s office. Either way, once the flute and vase are positioned in their proper place it won’t be long before the business owner’s assets make music to their ears! Today I want to marry two different energies in the hopes of achieving one single and loving result. It’s both ‘Rubber Ducky Day’ and ‘Make A Dream Come True Day’ and if your dream is to find the perfect partner, then a ducky or two can actually do exactly that. According to Feng Shui, Mandarin ducks have long been traditional symbols of love, specifically signifying romance, fidelity, and loyalty. These ducks mate for life and are always seen as loving and loyal pairs. Therefore, the symbols of ducks are often used to help single folks find partners and marital bliss. Positioned near their owners, these ducks are said to emit such a strong love Shi that the owner will then become more attractive, especially to potential partners. To activate more romance luck by using Mandarin ducks you should display a pair in the Romance area of the main floor or bedroom, or even put a pair in that same space in the living or dining room areas. Birds of a feather might stick together, but two ducks will bring a life-long partner to help you feather your own nest!

I’ve discovered that today’s energies celebrate the ‘Feast of Fabulous Wild Men Day.’ Now, in the case that you’re a single gal and not experiencing your own feast of fabulously wild men, it’s time to take matters into your own hands so that one of them will soon be holding yours. First, some Feng Shui basics. Paint the walls of your bedroom a shade of pink, coral or salmon. For single women looking to partner up, using these colors in the bedroom is believed to quickly reel in those fabulous men. Wearing two rose quartz bracelets on the left arm will do the same thing. Lastly, put an image of two pink peonies immediately outside and to the left your bedroom door (as you’re looking into the room) in order to plant strong intentions for love to bring a bloom to your cheeks. Any one of these fast Feng Shui cures can shift energies over to the engaging side, but doing all of them will have them rolling in the aisles, or at very least, watching you walking down one!

Today is ‘Houseplant Appreciation Day,’ a good time to show you how to plant a little luck in your living space that will result in family fortune. First locate the Family/Friends/Ancestors area on the main floor of your living space, found in the middle left-hand of your home or office. This area relates to your family, both past and present, including siblings and great-grandparents. According to Feng Shui, we are energetically linked to our blood relatives, and as goes one, so go all. Theoretically, this also implies that whenever anything happens to any member of the family, all those sharing the same bloodline will feel the reverberation in some way or another. This Ancestors arena also governs the health of the liver, blood, teeth and addictions, as well as our relationships with people in authority or those who hold any sort of power over us. It also relates to new thoughts, inspirations and ideas. So you can see why it’s important to bring balance to such a potent space. Wood is the element most associated with this area, so houseplants are the perfect remedy to activate energies of blessing and balance. In fact, because the number three is also a secret activator for this Ancestors space, it is said that placing three green plants here will nurture and nourish all agendas. Let your worries and your woes go down the drain on this ‘Bubble Bath Day.’ In fact, today I think I’ll get off my soapbox and offer you a soothing soak that will have your energies awash in peace, good fortune and luck. Take seven stems of seven different but fragrant flowers, making sure that they are free of thorns or sharp protrusions. Let them soak and infuse their energy into your bath for at least twenty minutes before you get in. Refresh the water to the temperature that you like best and add a handful of marigolds or rose petals. Bathe in the normal way with the sure knowledge that this bath is drawing into your life the blessings and benefits that these blooms hold. Take this bouquet of a bath whenever you need peace, purity, grace and glory! Anything annoying or irritating will, as previously mentioned, circle down the drain!

It certainly seems apropos on ‘Old Rock Day’ to take a look at the mystical properties associated with this month’s precious gem of a birthstone, the beautiful and blood red garnet. In fact, there are countless cultural beliefs regarding the blessings and benefits the wearer of the garnet will reap. In medieval times the symbolism of color played an integral part in recommending the use of specific stones for special ailments and diseases. In the case of these red stones, garnets were thought to be the remedy for hemorrhages and inflammatory diseases. This stone was also worn to promote or enhance strength, endurance and vigor. The energies of today’s ‘Run It Up the Flagpole And See if Anyone Salutes Day’ invite you to create your own Feng Shui flags that will both increase the flow of abundance in your life, and dispel chronic or temporary life problems. That’s something to raise the flag about, don’t you think? These ‘Six True Color’ flags are a powerful yet secret cure that purportedly draws its power from the potent Om Mani Padme Hum Buddhist mantra. Each of the words of that mantra relates to a specific color, the same white, red, yellow, green, blue and black that you will use when you construct your flags. One of the New Year’s traditions indigenous to those people is to garner a great deal of fortune, luck and opportunity by releasing a bird or even a turtle on New Year’s Day. However, if your menagerie is strictly glass, then you might want to take a gander at other ways to bring the fortune and the luck. The Japanese hang a straw rope in front of their homes to invite health, happiness and prosperity to live with them during the coming New Year, and to help keep evil and negativity at bay. The Japanese also believe that the very first thing everyone should do the moment the New Year begins (even before kissing your date) is to laugh. This guarantees that worry won’t hang around your house for the whole of the upcoming year, and that good humor, good luck and plenty of happy opportunity will bless you and yours.
