The Witches Spell-A-Day for Tuesday, January 10th – Happy and Prosperous

Magic Cat ::: Magie der Katze
The Witches Spell-A-Day for Tuesday, January 10th – Happy and Prosperous

Invoke Ebisu, the jolly Japanese god of commerce. Plan for a financially sound year by setting a simple budget. Make a spreadsheet to track the coming twelve months. Under “Expenses,” list all of your regular expenses, including utilities, housing, food, insurance, transportation, medical, dental, entertainment, and recreation. Under “Income,” list all sources of money that flows to you, such as wages, trust funds, child support, disability allowance, and government support payments.

Knowledge is power, and knowing exactly what you earn and spend will give you the power to manage your finances wisely. Place the budget on your altar with a coin, an offering to Evisu, and say:

Bless me, Ebisu, you happb, prosperous God.
May I have sufficient resources to cover my expenses.
May I be happy. May I earn more than I spend.

Review your budget monthly adding current data.

The Witches Spell-A-Day for Monday, January 9th – Winds of Renewal

wiccan in the woodsThe Witches Spell-A-Day for Monday, January 9th – Winds of Renewal

Start your day with a refreshing blast of winter air. Focus on renewal, even though it may apear bleak outside. The air element brings change and opportunity. Visualize any specific opportunity or change you’re hoping for, or just remain open to whatever comes your way. Try to actually fee the air on your face several times today. Whisper these words to the wind:
Winter wind, what secretsyou must
keep, blowing in the night, howling
while we sleep.
Winter wind, what promises you
make, stirring morning snow as you
whisper us awake.
Though you may be harsh and cold,
on your breath rewards untold.
Repeat throughout the day, if desired, or again at night before bedtime.

Fantasy winter*Personal Request from Member – Having It All

We all wish for lives filled with contentment, health, happiness, and prosperity. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best for ourselves and those we love. The idea behind pocket magic is to create the vibration of success and then take that energy with you everywhere you go. This fetish, therefore, is designed to be a general all-purpose power center that you can energize and draw from as needed.

THE WISHING WELL

Take any large bowl. Drip a few drops of different-colored candle wax in the bottom of the bowl, then adhere a white candle to that spot. The different colors represent diverse needs and goals, while the white binds this variety together in harmony. Each morning, light the candle when you get up and put a coin in the bowl. Make your wish for the day. Blow out the candle before you leave the house.

Whenever you desperately need to have a wish fulfilled, remove a coin from the bowl and either plant it in rich soil or throw it into moving water so that your message of need will be carried through the earth. When the bowl is filled with coins, use all but a few (these “seeds” always remain in your bowl) for random acts of kindness, like getting treats for the neighborhood kids or helping a homeless person. Your generosity will return to you threefold to keep the magick of benevolence, both mundane and divine, with you always.

Witches Spell-A-Day for Friday, January 6th – To Honor Perchta

WinterWitches Spell-A-Day for Friday, January 6th – To Honor Perchta

Today is the day of Frau Perchta, a Norse Goddess associated with the wilderness, spinning and even the Wild Hunt in some parts of Germany. On this night, folks would leave offerins of food out for her, hoping for her blessings of good luck in the coming year. Why not honor Perchta by leaving some cream and a hearty slice of bread out for her? And ask her for blessings throughout the year by creating some sort of simple weaving project, perhaps for use on your altar. Those simple weaving looms that use loops of fabric are very easy to work with and make great coasters and hot pads. Similar looms can also easily be made using cardboard. Check round the Web.

Helpful Hints: Knot Hard

Winter Fantasy Woman Helpful Hints: Knot Hard

If you want to carry a spell around with you but don’t want to lug around a charm bag or such, simply tie a knot into a small piece of string when you first cast the spell (this will find the spell into the string), and tuck it into your wallet or purse.

Let’s Talk Witch – Knot Magick

Winter Fantasy Woman Let’s Talk Witch – Knot Magick

A lot of Witchcraft involves what we call sympathetic magick. No, this doesn’t mean doing magick for people you feel sorry for (although that’s okay, too). Sympathetic magick is when you use one thing (a poppet or doll, for instance) to represent another (the person the spell is going to affect).

Knot magick is one of the oldest and simplest forms of sympathetic magick. Its use dates back to ancient Mesopotamia, and it went on to spread through Greece, Rome, and on into the rest of Europe. Although it originated with male mystics, it eventually came to be thought of as “women’s magick” because working with thread was seen as a woman’s occupation. (As if woman’s magick was somehow less powerful because a woman did it. Silly, I know, but there’s the medieval male mind for you.)

Knot magick is a type of sympathetic magick because the knot represents binding. Essentially, tially, you tie the knots as you cast your spell, and this action binds the power of the spell into the thread or cord you are using, making the spell more powerful and longer lasting.

You can tie just one knot or you can use the more traditional practice of using a long cord and tying nine knots, with the first knot at one end, the second at the other end, the third in the middle, the fourth and fifth halfway between the end and the middle, the sixth and seventh between the fourth and fifth and the end, and the last two between the central knot and the ones closest to it. (If this is too confusing, don’t worry about it: just tie nine knots anywhere.)

Either way, remember to focus on the spell you are doing and what you are trying to achieve.

There are many variations on the words to say while you are tying the knots, and you can always just make up your own.

But here is one example I particularly like:
By the knot of one, the spell’s begun.
By the knot of two, it cometh true.
By the knot of three, so mote it be.
By the knot of four, open the door.
By the knot of five, the spell’s alive.
By the knot of six, the spell is fixed.
By the knot of seven, the stars of heaven.
By the knot of eight, the stroke of fate.
By the knot of nine, the thing is mine!

When you are done with your knot magick, remember to put your thread or cord on your altar or someplace else that is safe–there is a lot of power “tied” up in it now.

The Witches’ Spell-A-Day for Thursday, January 5th – An Ivy Spell

Wounds to wisdom...Athena An Ivy Spell

Traditionally this was the day ivy was used to divine what kind of health a person would experience during the coming year. Ivy was also used to protect the home from harmful energy during the winter months.

To predict your health for the rest of the year, you’ll need an ivy leaf, a bowl of water, and a clean white cloth. First, place the ivy leaf in the owl of water. Think of any health concerns you may have and cover the bowl with the cloth. Let it sit overnight undisturbed. Check the leave the following morning. If the leaf has remained green and unblemished, you should have a healthy year. If the leaf has begun to darken or is covered with black spots, you should take steps to protect your health—get plenty of rest watch your diet and so on. To protect your home from negativity, keep an ivy plant near a window or door.

The Witches Spell A Day for January 4th – World Braille Day

winterWorld Braille Day

Today we celebrate Louis Braille for his genius invention of the Braille system of raised writing. His visionary creation brought reading literature and education to those with vision challenges. Just as it takes only one candle to illuminate the darkness., it took only one man to bring light to the masses.

For this spell, you will need twelve white candles, some Florida water and a carving tool. Cleanse your candles with the Florida water. Carve any symbols or words that are special to you into the candles.

Close your eyes. Imagine what it would be like if you depended on your sensitive touch to read. Touch your candles, the open your eyes. Light one candle and take in its brilliant flame. Using this candle, light all the other candles. When finished, pinch out the candles while saying:

As above, so below. The magick is
with me wherever I go.

Use the candles to light other candles throughout the year.

Let’s Talk Witch – Spells

winterLet’s Talk Witch – Spells

Performing a magickal spell is the practice of manifesting thought, emotion, and desire into form and action by your own will. You need to decide what you want to happen as a result of your spell. You must be clear and concise regarding your desired outcome. There are also many factors to think about when casting a spell or ritual. The lunar phases should also play a major role in determining the time and goal of the spell being performed. Karmic consequences and free will should always be taken into account. You also need to think about what type of magickal tools to use; like candles, crystals, incense, herbs, runes, etc.

The lunar phase is important and helps in determining the best time for magick and spell casting. Remember there are basically two lunar phases:
Waxing moon (ideal time for constructive magick) and Waning moon (ideal time for banishing and destructive magick, study, and meditation).

In between you’ll have the dark moon (the time of greatest power for banishing and negative magick) and the full moon (the time of greatest power for positive magick).

Basically, as the moon grows, so grows the opportunity or desire for which you are working. As the moon gets smaller, so does the habit or thing you are trying to overcome or push away from you. Please note that if timing and need are so important that you just can’t wait, then do the spell when needed.

The most important factor in doing a spell is the emotion and mindset of the person casting it. Raising your magickal energy and having the absolute belief in what you are doing is vital. If you are weak, tired, or have doubt, the chances of your spell working are slim and none! Argue for your limitations and they will surely be yours.

When you do a spell, try to not constantly think about it. It is also best to not talk about it or tell others before the spell runs its course.

Spells are like baking a cake. If you keep opening the oven door to check on it, it takes longer to bake and you could even wreck it. You should also keep it secret and not talk about it. Assuming your spell has been performed correctly, it should begin to work within a few days to a couple of weeks. It is generally advised that if results have not manifested within 4 weeks or one lunar cycle- that you re-work your spell.

Spells may fail if done incorrectly or if performed when you are distracted or you are sick. It is also vitally important to remember that the success of magick and spells depend on the energy and desire put into them. So be sure that you are in good health and have a determined and focused mindset when casting your spell.

Sometimes it is just fate or the will of the universe that keeps a spell from working. There could be karmic lessons that you have yet to learn and overcome standing in the way of the spell being successful. Spell casting involves trial and error as well. Remember it is a skill and the more you practice the better and stronger you should get.

The main tenet of Wicca is the “Wicca Rede.” It states, ” and it harm none, do as ye will”. In other words, as long as you don’t hurt anyone, anything goes. Of course, views of what actually causes harm vary from person to person! Many witches also believe that whatever magick you do will come back to you three-fold, so it pays to be careful. Some, however, believe that it is sometimes acceptable to cause harm as long as you are willing to accept the karmic consequence. As with everything else, you have the free will to decide for yourself.

The Witches Spell-A-Day for January 2nd – Getting Divine Help During a Mercury Retrograde

♛ 61. PLATZ - Bestes Tier Blingee ~ by Nina ♛Getting Divine Help During a Mercury Retrograde

Several times a year, the planet Mercury seems to be moving backward in the sky. This is called Mercury retrograde. While other planets also move retrograde. Mercury seems to be the most troublesome. Things break down. People lose their tempers and make ridiculous mistakes. Murphy’s law — “if anything can go wrong, it will” — take over. When Mercury is retrograde, we are warned not to sign contracts and to think before we speak.

During a Mercury retrograde, speak to the God himself:

Great Mercury, even though you are
walking backward right now, please
remember that we mortals do better
when going forward. Lend me your
winged hat, which I will wear as a
thinking cap that will straighten my
thoughts and ideas and keep me from
doing stupid things. Keep me safe until
you go forward.

Or more directly (so to speak):

Tricky planet, go direct right now!
Pesky Murphy, go away, don’t bow!

Your Magickal Guide to Mondays

Goth

Your Magickal Guide to Mondays

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise. Get this information from your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac.

The Witches Magick for August 26th – A Tree Love Spell

gothic fantasy

A Tree Love Spell

On a small leaf make an image of yourself, on another make an image of the type of person you wish to meet. With a green thread sew the two images face to face and know the string tightly. Go to a tree that emits loving vibrations and find a natural hole or crevice in the tree. Do NOT make one! If none is available, perhaps a place where a branch is joined to the trunk can be used, as long as it is secure. Lodge the leaves firmly into the crevice and say as you do:

Tree of earth water air and fire,
grant me the love I desire.

Bury seven pennies at its base and it is done.

The trees with which you cultivate magical relationship are things to be treasured; visit them often, even when you have no magic to perform. When you arrive at the point when you see trees and accept them as friends you have achieved a powerful bond between yourself and the earth, and even beyond.
