Your Daily Tarot Card for October 27th is The Fool

Tarot Card of the Day

The Fool

October 27, 2015

Pamela Coleman-Smith’s artful rendition of an “innocent Fool” archetype (Rider-Waite deck) is often used to represent Tarot in general. Early classical versions of the Fool card, however, portray quite a different character — a person driven by base needs and urges, who has fallen into a state of poverty and deprivation.

In some instances, he is made out to be a carnival entertainer or a huckster. In others, he is portrayed as decrepit and vulnerable — as the cumulative result of his delusions and failures. Not until the 20th century do you see the popular Rider-Waite image of the Fool arise — that of an innocent Soul before its Fall into Matter, as yet untainted by contact with society and all its ills.

Modern decks usually borrow from the Rider-Waite imagery. Most Fool cards copy the bucolic mountainside scene, the butterfly, the potential misplaced step that will send the Fool tumbling into the unknown. Don’t forget, however, that the earlier versions of this card represented already-fallen humanity, over-identified with the material plane of existence, and beginning a pilgrimage towards self-knowledge, and eventually, wisdom. The Fool reminds us to recognize the path of personal development within ourselves — and the stage upon that path where we find ourselves — in order to energize our movement toward deeper self-realization.

Full Moon Tuesday

Preparations: by Maddi

Full Moon Tuesday

For this Tuesday night full moon spell, we are working with fire magick and warrior energy. This spell incorporates one of the court cards from the tarot deck, the Knight of Swords. If you recall, the Knight of Swords can be summed up in two words: no fear!

The “No Fear” Spell

This spell is best worked outdoors.

Supplies are as follows:

1 red taper illuminator candle

1 black taper illuminator candle coordinating black metal candle holders (use wrought iron, if possible)

A pin or nail to engrave Mars’s symbol on the candles

The Knight of Swords card from your tarot deck

A fireproof small metal cauldron

A sheet of paper, no larger than 6 inches square

Black ink pen

Rubbing alcohol

Wooden matches

An outdoor working area-make sure it is a flat, safe surface to set up all of the spell supplies on (you need to be outside for this one, otherwise you will set off the smoke alarms while you are burning the paper in the cauldron; talk about blowing the magickal mood!)

You have to be careful with the fire. Anytime you have an open flame inside of a cauldron, fire pit, or fireplace and you add magick and intention, things tend to be unpredictable with the flames. Also, just a few drops of alcohol will help that paper burn. So don’t go overboard and singe yourself. Safety first! The spell fire is symbolic. A little fire held within a metal cauldron that is lit with intention does pack more power than you realize, so please be smart and safe and work this full moon spell with care.

Arrange the outdoor setup as follows. Engrave and then place the candles in their holders, and set them toward the back of your working area. Position the metal cauldron dron in the center. Leave a small area to place the Knight of Swords card in front of the cauldron, where it is easily visible. Set the rubbing alcohol, the matches, and paper and pen to the side and within reach.

To start, take up the paper and pen and write down what it is that you fear. Keep it short and to the point. Then, fold the paper in half and drop it into the cauldron. Sprinkle a bit of rubbing alcohol on the paper. Close up the bottle and set it off and away to the side. Now put your game face on. Call up whatever courage you can muster. Visualize those Spartan soldiers or the god Mars standing strong and right alongside of you. Come on, tap into that warrior energy. Growl. Get tough, and raise up some courageous energy. Hold your hands out and over the cauldron. Now repeat this verse with intention:

Mars energy is bolstered by the full moon light

I remove anxiety and stress on this night

Mighty warrior energy now defeats the shadows and fear

As I conjure bravery and courage to reside with me here!

Move your hands away from the cauldron. Step back from the work area and strike the match. Carefully drop it on top of the paper inside of the cauldron. If necessary, you can hold the match to the edge of the paper and encourage it to completely burn. If you need to use a couple of matches, that’s fine. Just drop the spent matches inside of the cauldron. Keep going until the paper is ash. Then close the spell with these lines:

Ashes to ashes and dust to moon dust

My courage soars and my magick is just

I work boldly with the days of witchery

This lunar spell is sealed; set the magick free!

You may snuff the black and red illuminator candles and take them inside with you. If you wish, use them again for other Tuesday spells or to repeat this spell if necessary. Allow the contents of the cauldron to cool completely, then take a little garden spade and bury the ashes in the garden. Pour water on top of the spot to make doubly sure nothing is smoldering. Tap your fist on the ground on top of it, and say:

So mote it be!

Now, go and clean out your cauldron. Keep the tarot card with you for a week to bolster your courage. To close up this full moon magick, go do something positive. Take a jog or a walk under that enchanting moon. Play some music and dance, or go find your partner and make love. Just do something positive, life-affirming and physical. Any of those activities will help you to ground and center.

Tarot Card of the Day

The Devil

October 26, 2015

What has traditionally been known as the Devil card expresses the realm of the Taboo, the culturally rejected wildness and undigested shadow side that each of us carries in our subconscious. This shadow is actually at the core of our being, which we cannot get rid of and will never succeed in taming. From its earliest versions, which portrayed a vampire-demon, this card evoked the Church-fueled fear that a person could “lose their soul” to wild and passionate forces.

The image which emerged in the mid-1700’s gives us a more sophisticated rendition — that of the “scapegoated Goddess,” whose esoteric name is Baphomet. Volcanic reserves of passion and primal desire empower her efforts to overcome the pressure of stereotyped roles and experience true freedom of soul. Tavaglione’s highly evolved image (Stella deck) portrays the magical formula for harnessing and transmuting primal and obsessive emotions into transformative energies. As a part of the Gnostic message of Tarot, this fearsome passion and power must be reintegrated into the personality, to fuel the soul’s passage from mortal to immortal.

Friday & The Perfect Corresponding Spell

Egyptian woman

Friday & The Perfect Corresponding Spell

For many, Friday is the last work day of the week. It’s considered the fifth day of the work week and, also, the “cut loose” day. By Friday night, people are out having a party. That makes Friday the perfect day for lust, banish, fast-grant, and find spells . This day is so powerful (energy wise). That’s why whatever you do on this day will, usually, have a strong effect. If you want things out of your life, the darkness and power, associated with this day, bring the energy you need for that. If you need strong, immediate results, this is your day, as well.

A White Candle Ritual to Attract Love

Get a white candle that will burn down in due time. You will have to inscribe it (see below), so it should be bigger than a birthday candle, and you will also have to watch it burn down to nothing (see below), so it should not be a 24 hour votive light. A plain white altar candle or, better yet, a white “bride and groom” figural candle, will be right.

Prepare an altar and decorate it with those things precious to you and to the one you love. Using a rose thorn from a white rose bush, inscribe the words “All my love come to me” 3 times on the candle. Place the inscribed candle in the center of the altar and light it. For the entire time the candle burns, gaze upon it and visualize your love coming to you in nakedness and beauty. When the candle burns out, collect the wax puddle that remains, wrap it up with the mementoes from the altar and keep it in a safe place.

The result of this spell will not be “zombie” or “victim” thrall-love; but you will receive ALL the love that person has for you — which may be less than, as much as, or more than the love you have for him. Accept the degree of love you receive with grace and tenderness.

If at some future time you no longer wish to receive that man’s love, dispose of the wax puddle in a simple ceremonial way. Depending on your mood, it can be burned on a fire, buried, thrown into running water, mailed to him, ground to shavings and baked into a cake – or whatever you feel is appropriate. But it is your responsibility to dispose of it if you no longer want to be loved in any degree by that man.

Pour the nine selected herbs into the mixing bowl one by one. As you pour each one in say these words (replace the blank with the name of the herb):
“________ that protects, protect my home and all within.”
Once all of the herbs have been added to the bowl, mix them with your hands. Visualize you home being safe and secure as you mix. Cap the bottle or jar and bury it outside, in front of your front step. If you live in an apartment or other place that would prevent you from doing this, place the jar some where out of view but still near your doorway.

Herbal Cleansing Bottle

Herbal Cleansing Bottle

To make an herbal cleansing bottle, pour a layer of sand in a large clear bottle. Add layers of dried herbs, one at a time: first rosemary; then lemon peel, sage, cedar, black peppercorns, lavender, dill, bay leaf, and rowan. When the bottle is full, focus cleansing protective energy into the herbs and sand, and see a golden light radiating from the bottle. Visualize the herbs driving away negative influences. Cork and seal the bottle with white wax. Using a permanent marker, draw the Algiz rune on one side of the bottle, and on the other side draw a pentagram. Set the bottle near your front or back door, and every six months, uncap, Pour herbs out into the woods or your compost heap, and thoroughly wash and dry the bottle before filling it with a new round of herbs.

Protection from all Harm

Protection from all Harm

Take a mason jar and put pins, needles, razor blades, cactus spines, rose thorns, broken glass, etc. in it. Prick your finger and let at least 3 drops of your blood into jar (this binds the jar to you). While making the bottle concentrate your thoughts on what you are doing. Urinate in the bottle and seal it well. Dig a hole and put it in it and say:
“Lord of Life, Lady of Light- Join me here for this rite
I have made this bottle for my protection
According to ancient ways and tradition.
Direct all harm sent my way – To this grave I make today.
Return it three fold to the send – And let my life ever be better
Open my ears to hear and my eyes to see, As I will, So Mote It Be!”

Ocean Wish Jar

Ocean Wish Jar

Go to the ocean at dawn or dusk during the Waxing Moon, and bring with you:

Small bottle

Parchment

Quill or fountain pen

Blue candle

Small moonstone or amethyst.

Cast your circle and sit on the sand facing the ocean. Light the candle and place your ingredients before you. On the parchment, draw a pentacle with the pen and place the amethyst or moonstone in the center of it. Focus your energy on the stone, visualizing it glowing and shining with power. When you feel ready, whisper a simple wish and sprinkle some sand over the stone, visualizing the sand absorbing your wish. Roll up the parchment and place it in the bottle, along with the stone and a small amount of sand. Release the bottle into the water and watch as the waves carry the wish away, while saying this charm:
Goddess of the Moon, the Earth, the Sea,
Each wish in Thy name must come to be.
Powers and Forces which Tides do make,
Now summon Thy waves, my spell to take.

Sit on the beach and gaze at the beautiful sea until the candle burns itself out.

Protection Bottle

Protection Bottle

Find a large bottle and stuff it with small pieces of thread of many colors (expect black). This project will probably take you many weeks, since only small pieces of thread (one to three inches in length) should be used, and east must be introduced into the bottle separately. As you add each piece of thread, say something like the following:

TANGLE THE BANE UP!
TANGLE THE BANE UP!
TANGLE THE BANE UP!

When the bottle is full, cap and place it in a window, in the attic or in a cupboard.

Money Jar

Money Jar

You will need:

paper & pen

seven dimes

quart jar with screw-on lid

bay leaf

Write your need on the paper and drop it into the jar. Take 7 dimes in your dominate hand and place them one by one into the jar.  As each one drops, visualize it multiplying into huge amounts and say:
“Toward this wish, the money grows
by leaps and bounds – it overflows.
Coins that jingle, coins that shine
Come to me now – you are mine.”

Write your name on the bay leaf and drop it into the jar. Screw on the lid and place the jar where you can see it everyday, but where it is not visible to everyone who enters your home. Add a coin or two to the jar each day, and watch as money flows to you from unexpected sources. After you obtain the money you need, remove the paper and bury it outside.
