How Each Zodiac Sign Keeps Secrets

How Each Zodiac Sign Keeps Secrets

Which Sun signs are best at keeping things confidential?

Simone Butler

Your company is about to lay off someone you’ve become friendly with, and you’ve been asked to keep silent about it. Do you hold your tongue (as a dutiful Capricorn probably would), or give the person fair warning (as a tenderhearted Cancer might)? A friend confides that she has inherited a great deal of money and begs you not to tell anyone. A Gemini and a Scorpio would likely have two very different responses.

Check your zodiac sign to see how good — or bad — you are at keeping secrets:

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

You don’t think twice about telling others your own secrets, Aries. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t keep theirs. You’d rather not be burdened with info you can’t share, lest a slip of your tongue let the cat out of the bag. You find it especially hard to keep good news — like a friend’s engagement — a secret. On the other hand, bad news — like a confession that someone cheated on the job — may be easier for you to hold in confidence.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

It’s painful for you to keep secrets, as you prize honesty above all else. But if someone tells you something in confidence, you will not repeat it. You’re slow to share your own dark secrets, so you respect others’ privacy, too. Surprise birthday parties are a piece of cake for you to keep under wraps. Stickier ethical dilemmas, like whether or not to share a friend’s secret confession about spousal abuse, could keep you up at night, though.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

You’re the least likely to honor others’ secrets, as you prefer everything out in the open. When a juicy bit of gossip lands in your lap, it usually doesn’t stay there for long. You don’t really think of it as gossiping … just sharing info. And keeping others informed is your mission in life. If sworn to secrecy, you can stay mum on life-or-death issues. But since it goes against all your instincts, you’d actually rather not be told at all.

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

Being upfront does not come naturally to you, but at the same time, holding things inside can give you an ulcer. So, you may end up blurting out your true feelings about a person or situation, adding, “But please don’t tell anyone” for fear of retaliation. Though you’d have a hard time keeping a secret if it adversely affected someone you’re fond of, you’d delight in keeping your sister’s pregnancy under wraps, since it bonds you closer.

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)

You are excellent at keeping secrets, Leo. In fact, the bigger the secret, the better you are at protecting it. It makes you feel important to be in on privileged info, and you take the responsibility seriously. Because your word is important to you, you don’t give it lightly. But if you like and trust someone, you’re inclined to keep their confidences — unless, of course, another person’s safety or matters of national security are at stake.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

Since your natural modesty prevents you from blabbing your own dark secrets, you consider it your duty to honor others’. You likely would never agree to keep secrets concerning illicit activities. But if it’s a private matter, such as a baby born out of wedlock and secretly given up for adoption, you’d respect the mother’s request to not tell anyone. And once you give your word, you will do everything in your power to keep it.

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

You’re quite open about yourself, as you believe in the philosophy of “share and share alike.” But you learned the hard way to honor your friends’ secrets, especially those of the romantic variety, which they often confide in you, the “love expert.” You’re unlikely to reveal professional secrets, as you’ve found they can also bite you in the butt. You confide a lot in your spouse, however, so your trustworthiness may depend on theirs!

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

You’re as silent as the grave with your own private matters, Scorpio. But you really don’t like to keep others’ secrets, because you figure if it’s a secret, then the teller needs to keep it — not you! You would probably refuse if something violated your morals, like an affair. As you become more open to those around you, you’ll be asked less often to hide things for others. You likely have many personal secrets, though.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)

You’re good at keeping your own secrets, Sagittarius. But you tend to spill others’ private info in the interest of telling a good story. When friends share a secret with you, they need to stress the importance of confidentiality to ensure you don’t forget (and even remind you again later). The more important it is to someone that you keep the secret, the better you are at doing so … but some things you may be better off not knowing.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

In your youth, you may have had a tendency to leak others’ secrets as a way to counteract your natural introversion and feel more popular. But as you matured, you quickly realized that your reputation depended on keeping others’ confidences. And your reputation is everything to you. When it comes to business matters, your lips are sealed — you’ll likely protect the company’s interests over those of an individual.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)

Your natural emotional reserve and tendency to withhold your own secrets make protecting others’ private matters fairly easy. It takes a lot of soul-searching before you’ll breach a personal confidence, and only then if you feel its revelation could resolve a crisis. At work, if the secret is creating problems of some kind or jeopardizing your job, you might disclose just enough to remedy the situation.

Pisces (Feb. 19 to March 20)

You are a master at keeping secrets, Pisces — in fact, you’re capable of hiding whole aspects of your life. But you also love to help people, and therefore when a friend confides in you, you may end up sharing their story as a “teaching tool” for someone else who’s facing a similar situation. Though you’re scrupulous about not naming names, take care that the distinctive details stand no chance of incriminating the person in question. is Part of Zappallas USA © 2019

Your Daily Horoscopes for Friday, May 3rd

Caution: Avoid shopping or important decisions from 4:30 AM to 5 PM EDT today (1:30 AM to 2 PM PDT). After that, the Moon moves from Aries into Taurus.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Tread carefully today. For most of this day, the Moon is in your sign, however, it is a Moon Alert. (This will make you feel like a space cadet.) You will be indecisive, perhaps tired and lacking motivation. Once the Moon changes signs, this mood will be gone.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

This is a vague, hazy time during the Moon Alert. However, after the Moon enters your sign, (see above), you will feel completely different. You will feel stronger and more motivated. You will be opinionated and have specific expectations.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You will enjoy hanging out with others today, especially friends or groups, clubs and organizations. During the Moon Alert (see above) do not volunteer for anything or agree to anything important because you might regret this later. Be smart.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You might be involved more than usual with parents and bosses today, which means you might have to make promises or commitments. However, do not make promises during the Moon Alert (see above) or you will set yourself up for failure. Wait until the Moon Alert is over before you act.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

For good part of this day, you have a strong yearning to escape and get away from all this. Don’t be hard on yourself if you can’t get down to work or apply yourself. Instead, you will enjoy making fanciful plans, especially travel plans, for the future. However, do not commit to anything during the Moon Alert.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Most of this day is a Moon Alert. (See above.) During any Moon Alert it’s a poor time to make financial decisions or spend money on anything other than food, gas and entertainment. Agree to nothing important regarding inheritances, wills and shared property during this time.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Although this is a loosey-goosey day because most of it is a Moon Alert, nevertheless, it’s a marvelous day to socialize with others. You will enjoy hanging out with partners and close friends, albeit you might have to bend a little and accommodate them. Oh well.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Don’t be too demanding of yourself and others at work today because during the Moon Alert, things tend to go awry. Efficiency drops off and a general haziness seems to permeate life. Don’t worry. Once the Moon Alert is over – it’s all systems go.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

This is a lovely, creative day for you. Those of you who work in the entertainment world, the hospitality industry or the arts, will be full of original ideas. Enjoy schmoozing with others. Restrict spending to entertainment, food and gas.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Ideally, you might want to cocoon at home today because many of you want to hide and relax in familiar surroundings. You might also be dealing with a female family member more than usual. (Perhaps mom.) People will be frank during the Moon Alert.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This is a fast-paced day full of short trips, appointments, tasks and conversations with others. However, during the Moon Alert, it’s a poor time to agree to anything important or to spend money on anything other than gas, food and entertainment. See above to check those times.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Today your focus is on money and cash flow. However, it is a Moon Alert for most of the day. Bad combo! Therefore, restrict spending to food, gas and entertainment until the Moon Alert is over. Forewarned is forearmed.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor Bobby Cannavale (1970) shares your birthday today. You are compassionate and empathetic. You believe in fair play and justice. This year will be more laid back for you. Nevertheless, your relations with others will be important. Focus on how to cooperate with others. Look for ways to be kinds and helpful. Business and personal relationships will benefit you so be open to engaging with others.

Your Dark Stars Horoscopes for the Month of May

Your Dark Stars Horoscope: May 2019

Jane Lyle, Astrologer

From The Astrology Room

ARIES(March 21st-April 20th)

Are you beginning to assess what happened (or didn’t happen) back in March? Do you need a fresh start? Or are you ready to make a complete break? Either way, exploring and expanding your options in early May works well – any little change of routine boosts your wellbeing. And meeting new people, or reconnecting with old friends, widens your point of view and lifts your mood more than usual too. Someone (maybe a Gemini) could have some very interesting news to share with you, or offers you an opportunity to learn or earn more. Do pace yourself, especially mid-month. Your fiery intuition can mislead you if you just grab the first thing you see. Be very cautious when it comes to money and finances. Being a crazy-busy person won’t help you much either. If you really want to channel your creativity and inner guidance then spending some quality time at home, or with your family, is incredibly valuable. Mars in Cancer from 16th May favours new ways with old conundrums.

TAURUS (April 21st-May 21st)

Your brand-new Zodiac year is in bloom, with the Sun plus an earthy, musical new Moon in Taurus on Saturday, 4th May. Why not set some intentions, or visit somewhere beautiful that day? This is a mischievous, magical season in more ways than one. Later this month chatty Mercury (6th) and your own ruling planet, Venus (15th) are glowing in your sign too. You’re gorgeous, your voice is bewitching, and basically you’re just irresistible! Since Uranus, quirky planet of change, is also now settled in Taurus, you might want to explore what’s original, or inventive. How you present yourself, your love life, and even how you earn your living can all benefit from a fresh eye, an unexpected twist. Keeping an open mind is vital, for all manner of people you meet in groups can benefit or inspire you. Getting involved with a class, neighbourhood project, club or some charity fundraising could be your way out of a rut – chances are you’ll receive encouragement or support when you least expect it.

GEMINI (May 22nd-June 21st)

If you’ve felt frustrated or confused lately, relax. Early May sees some of the mists melting away as you begin to see results, or make some serious decisions about your finances and other down-to-earth matters. Then, with Mercury in Taurus, you can blend practicality with imagination. You could discover new ways to tune into the natural world – or connect with those amazing treasures in your mind. Sun and Mercury enter Gemini on 21st May for a lively, chatty start to your Zodiac year. Your intuition comes knocking loudly at this time, enabling you to tune into future trends or find ways of understanding others more deeply than usual. It’s a positive phase for communications, and for thinking about what’s next. Do any of your hopes and dreams involve raising money? If so, May is a helpful time to look at your options. The first ten days of June promise to be upbeat and lively. So if you prepare now, you’ll be able to take full advantage of that sparkling cosmic weather then.

CANCER (June 22nd-July 23rd)

You’d probably like to spend some more time with kindred spirits this month. Some little adventures or interesting conversations are just what you need to feed your imagination or soothe your soul. A mystical, musical new Moon on 4th May drops hints in your dreams or sparks off your intuition – see what washes up on the shores of your conscious mind. It could seem strange at first, yet be very valuable to you. Energy planet Mars enters Cancer on 16th May, boosting your confidence and desire to make things happen until the end of June. And with Venus in compatible Taurus, you’ll find shared projects, art, music and nature bring you pleasure, inspiration, or even romantic moments. But if you’re looking for change in your working partnerships you may have to be patient and play a waiting game. It’s likely that news from abroad will influence things in ways you weren’t expecting. A home-loving individual or a healer could also play an important role in your life too. Keep an open mind.

LEO (July 24th-August 23rd)

Planets in earthy Taurus focus on your ability and desire to get things done, even if you find yourself drawn to unusual, quirky possibilities this May. Playing it by ear is probably the best way to go. Uranus, planet of change, is in Taurus for a long stay – your hopes and goals are due for renovation or even revolution in the next few years. People you meet, and ideas you come across, offer some intriguing clues this month, and many Leos (particularly July birthdays) will begin to play with ideas or consider exciting new directions. Take your time, for with Mars in Cancer from 16th May, your subconscious intuition is vitally important too. Jupiter in Sagittarius boosts creativity and romantic feelings until the autumn months, so no need to exhaust yourself with fear of missing out. There’s also a lot going on behind the scenes now, so why not find your fabulous inner feline nature and just be a little watchful instead? On 1st July Mars enters Leo for the first time since 2017 – you’ll have much to make you purr this summer.

VIRGO (August 24th-September 23rd)

Commitment, hard work and preparation are some big themes in May. Once your ruler, Mercury, enters Taurus on 6th May, you’re thinking ever more deeply and seriously about things as you learn more about yourself, and others. You may want to study, or develop an important relationship. Your travel dreams mostly aren’t frivolous fly-and-flop either – you’ll want to travel for knowledge, or maybe to work. 10th – 15th May glows with energy – you can impress others, or persuade people to support you and your ideas if you need to. The Scorpio full Moon on 18th May signals further information, and highlights important conversations. Keep going! Sun and Mercury in Gemini from 21st May favour communications, interviews, and your social media skills. This is also a great time to have fun channelling your fantastic wit and creativity – it will help you deal with all the serious stuff that’s going on around you too. By the end of May travel, communication, writing or speaking are all potentially lucky activities. May is looking special, so do make some private space for rest and relaxation so that you can make the most of it.

LIBRA (September 24th-October 23rd)

You share your graceful ruling planet, Venus, with Taurus. When Venus enters Taurus on 15th May she’s strong, sensuous, and indulgent – and so are you this May. Just keep a cool head, and be focused when dealing with shared cash or financial deals and commitments. Fortunately, the clever and analytical asteroid Pallas is in Libra, reminding you to look before you leap and check out those sneaky terms and conditions. Mars begins shaking things up from Cancer the Crab from 16th May – maybe you’ll work more from home, maybe you’ll meet some new people who’ll bring fresh points of view, or get a chance to travel and make connections abroad. If you’re prepared to be curious, you’ll attract good luck at this time. All manner of doors are opening up for you – mostly through the influence of other people. Some of these people are unusual or can help you in ways you’d not imagined. So why not forget about doing lots of formal ‘networking’, and simply take an interest in everyone you meet? Inspiration strikes when you least expect it.

SCORPIO (October 24th-November 22nd)

Your neighbourhood can both inspire and restrict you in some way this May. Perhaps you want to move, but are finding this much harder than you imagined. Perhaps you’re working more from home, and aren’t used to making your own routines. Your digital “neighbourhood” is highlighted too – do you want to change how you use social media, for example? Those close to you are more than ready to help or listen, so you can choose to confide in someone you trust. Mars, your traditional ruler, moves into compatible Cancer the Crab on 16th May, followed by your own annual Scorpio full Moon on 18th May. Much comes to a head then, and can be released. A few things are likely to surprise you around that time, and you realise you can’t control everything. It’s a late springtime turning point. And with Mars in Cancer until 30th June, there’s enough time to open up and see everything from a wider or less conventional perspective. You might have overlooked or abandoned something that makes you happy. If so, think about making time for it, and set out to explore a new interest or an old friendship.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23rd-December 21st)

Feed yourself well on every level this May. Not only are planets highlighting your wellbeing from sensuous Taurus, but you also have dwarf planet Ceres in your sign. Ceres symbolises nourishment, Jupiter in Sagittarius is expansion, together their message to you is about feeling good mentally, spiritually, and physically. Taking proper care of yourself helps you bounce along through a busy month. For early May offers a very lively phase for relationships and longstanding connections – you can make a big impression on others, be a wicked flirt, or meet new people. There’s a lot of talking too – its mostly just entertaining, but some conversations give you much intriguing food for thought. After the Sun and Mercury enter Gemini on 21st May, you’ll find others take a starring role in your plans. If you want to assess your year so far, this would be a helpful time to do that. Talking to those who know you well brings further insights – pay close attention towards the very end of May when what you hear (or find out) can have a dynamic effect on your prospects.

CAPRICORN (December 22nd-January 20th)

This is a deeply serious phase for all Capricorns, in the midst of a very hard-working year. Birthdays between 8th – 14th January may be more sensitive to this theme than everyone else, but the whole story is, of course, found in your own personal natal chart. Anyway, Saturn, Pluto, and the Dragon’s Tail are all up close and personal in your sign this year. It’s time to focus and pay attention to your choices and routines, for what’s happening now ripples out across the year and can lead on to success or swamps, depending upon how you handle things, and how you connect with others. Meanwhile, some delectable, pleasurable, or romantic moments offer light relief thanks to planets in earthy, fertile Taurus. If you encounter something weirdly fateful (even though you’re a pragmatic soul) your best bet is to spend some time in nature and quietly think things through. Are your dreams realistic? Being practical sounds so dull, but it serves you well. Plus, what you build now (including savings) has rock-solid foundations. These, in the end, are more fulfilling than fragile castles in the air.

AQUARIUS (January 21st-February 19th)

Family or property news could surprise you this May, perhaps as early as the 4th when a new Moon rises in Taurus. Unexpected visitors or attractive new neighbours crop up this month as well, throwing your routines or comfortable habits into disarray. Yet you’re a sociable creature, and will soon realise that you’ve been wanting something fresh and entertaining to come along for a while. Mars in ever-chatty Gemini boosts those restless, impulsive feelings until 16th May, so if you want to see more of friends or family early May is a helpful time to get in touch. Certain situations seem to be coming to a head at work, but are they really? Final decisions or clarity could take a while longer. There are hidden factors or secret negotiations that will influence the outcome – and until you know all the facts you may not be able to have much control. Humour and creativity come to your rescue as the Sun and Mercury enter airy Gemini on 21st – do say yes to any opportunities to do something different or meet up with those who make you laugh. Sharing humour could be so romantic.

PISCES (February 20th-March 20th)

Your amazing ability to sense what others are thinking, or feeling, helps you calm any bumpy situations you encounter this May. You may be more than a little vague or dreamy yourself, yet this mood gifts you with zen-like inner harmony and intuitive sorcery. Your main challenge is to stay grounded – getting enough sleep, good food, and exercise always helps, as you know. But once you’ve got a tight hold of the shimmering unicorn, you can do anything. Jupiter in Sagittarius is now backtracking until August, a great opportunity to revise ideas or projects you’ve been involved with this year. It’s a phase of high ideals, incredible visions, and spiritual longing. And none of this will go away if you ask some of your more down-to-earth friends for support and advice. They’ll help you manifest things, rather than trampling on your dreams. Once Mars enters Cancer on 16th May, you have a sexy energy boost to fuel you until July. Yes, things may not proceed in a conventional, or even organised, manner. So bear this in mind and don’t allow negative thoughts to bring you down. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and all will be well.

Claire Petulengro, Celebrity Astrologer

From The Astrology Room

ARIES (March 21st-April 20th)

The need to get away is strong in your chart. You slowly but surely realise that you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. News from far away gives you reason to plan an exciting journey. Finances you were seeking can come just in time, if you are willing to make a series of phone calls. Family need you to pull together from the 19th for a change you will soon know is imminent but which marks the end of a very emotional journey. Legal links go well, but remember to do things by the book! Ring now to hear how temporary work you’re offered could turn out to be permanent.

TAURUS (April 21st-May 21st)

Love yourself for who you are and just keep going. I know and you will too, soon enough, that your efforts have and will continue to pay off. I see from your stars that you have not been feeling as strong as you should and this may lead certain close ones to accuse you of being distant or ‘off’ with them. Although Mars will be offering you his aggressive side to use, you would be far better to placate them so that you have them back on side. Large group work arrangements will require you to have as many allies in your corner as possible. Ring now to look at life from a fresh view.

GEMINI (May 22nd-June 21st)

A lack of confidence in the last few weeks, led you to say some things you don’t really mean and in turn has left you unsure of what your next move should be. Just be! Take in the world around you. If you would stop and catch your breath, then you would soon see that loved ones are only trying to help, not hinder your progress in life. Try not to tell lies to close ones after the 18th (or at all) you’ll only end up looking and feeling the fool if you do. You may not realise but you are not doing a very good job of telling tall stories lately. Ring now to hear how a touch of fame may soon beckon.

CANCER (June 22nd-July 23rd)

Live in the moment and stop looking to the past for answers. If the situation you left was right for you then a sign such as you would have fought harder to stay in it. Your element of water often makes you more emotional than you would like. This is a great month to set some new boundary lines for yourself. Jupiter the planet of self-expansion gives you the insight required to organise your life to be an easier place to be. Impromptu invites you get throughout this month help you learn more about what the future could offer. Ring now to focus on what and who’s important.

LEO (July 24th-August 23rd)

Embrace the positive this month and believe me when I tell you that there are many for you to take hold of. Someone you did not think would be a part of your life again, is going to be trying to make contact and it is important that you give yourself at least twenty-four hours to think if this is a good idea. Results you have been waiting for and are likely to be delayed, but for a very valid reason. Try not to lose your rag with those who only want to help you. Older family members have an unusual request for you. Give me a ring to find out why this is a great month for home changes.

VIRGO (August 24th-September 23rd)

Slow down and don’t worry Virgo, as the air of anxiety that you are feeling is only temporary and can be gone before the 6th if you use the power of the Sun to count your blessings and not your setbacks. Just remember too this month, that a slow pace is better as it allows you time to build a firmer base. Sticking to plans between the 3rd and 11th is vital if you are to not take any more steps back with an important friendship in your life. A new routine seems to be taking place. I like it and so will you once you relax into it. Ring to hear why you need to be careful what you sign in May.

LIBRA (September 24th-October 23rd)

Instead of avoiding the situation which is on your mind, why don’t you try facing it, head on? If you do then you will feel so much stronger and more in control of your life. A major change in a close one’s life may affect your life, more than you had thought you would but remember that you can and should set the boundaries of how much others affect your life. It is only by making a more conscious effort to do this, that you will feel content in what you do. The need for some sort of revision is evident from the 21st and even if feels like you are going over what you already know, it is still worth doing so. Ring now to hear why I’m so confident about your love life this year.

SCORPIO (October 24th-November 22nd)

Why are you worrying about people stopping you from what you want to do? You’re a Scorpio and you can do anything you set your mind to. Trying to find out information which has nothing to do with you could well open the floodgates for your own life to be over analysed, so be careful what you ask and say. Your energy levels start to improve and you no longer worry about not being able to complete what’s ahead. Time spent with family is precious this month. It is sure to both give all concerned a contented feeling. Ring now to hear why cancelled plans are actually a blessing.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23rd-December 21st)

You are trying to please too many people and, in the process, you are not really getting anything done. Knowing how far you are willing to go to get certain projects under way says a lot about how your feelings have changed. Although work seems a little more stressful from the 22nd you will in the process be ironing out all that was not working. Try not to play games in love around the 24th as I know it will come back on you if you do. The home is likely to be the focus for some unexpected visitors, so keep the abode as you’d wish it to be seen. Ring now so I can give you a full reading.

CAPRICORN (December 22nd-January 20th)

Try not to let jealousy get in the way of what is a good friendship. Quality of time, not quantity is important, as the planets tell me you already have more than enough on your plate to deal with. Telling the truth to those you work with is well worth considering over the coming months, as those involved already know far more than you think. Uranus brings thoughts of the past to mind and you begin to see clarity, over what caused such confusion this time last year. Ring now to hear why it would be to your benefit to be more patient with the younger faces in your life at this time.

AQUARIUS (January 21st-February 19th)

Don’t stop because you’re tired. Instead keep going, because you’re almost there! I know you have not had the easiest of starts this year, but I see and you will too soon, that you are back on track. In fact, those who weren’t willing to help you now are and they seem to be willing to play fair (something you did not experience enough of in January my friend!) Time spent on your own this month offers you the chance for much reflection. This should allow you to be more certain about the changes which you will soon decide are imminent. Ring now to take control of life again.

PISCES (February 20th-March 20th)

You know Pisces, winding paths lead to the most interesting places. This is a fact you will learn for yourself if you can work on trusting in your intuition. You know they don’t label you the most psychic sign in the zodiac for nothing. Things you buy and sell at this time, say a lot about what you want to move on and away from. Try to make an extra special effort for your close ones between the 17th and 21st when many of the signs will be feeling more sensitive and emotive than usual. Ring now to hear why it’s so worth making an apology for a second time for once.

Happy Birthday, May Taurus! You are blessed by the new moon in your sign on May 4. This is the perfect time to not only set your intentions, but to take action and work toward achieving your goals. No goal is too lofty. Reach for the stars, lift yourself up and don’t play small, because the stars will not lower themselves to meet you. Citrine is the cheerleader of the crystal world. This crystal helps you stay positive and infuses you with the can-do attitude you need this month. Citrine also boosts your confidence, which aligns perfectly with Venus entering your sign on May 15.

Happy Birthday, May Gemini! Be aware of any aggression or arguments you may participate in when Mercury enters Taurus on May 6, and again when Mars enters Cancer on May 15. You may feel a bit more triggered than usual. However, I say “participate” because you have the choice to rise above a difficult situation, instead of further aggravating it. They key is to know that inner peace is sometimes more important than being right. Tap into the power of blue lace agate (yes, again!) to help you calm your mind. Blue lace agates also helps you to communicate your thoughts and opinions in a harmonious way.

Dear Cancer, you have the chance to have some fun this month. On May 15, Mars enters Cancer, making you more emotionally extroverted; make sure what you say aligns with what you feel. On May 18, the moon becomes full in the sign of Scorpio, making you feel mischievous and playful. Use these energies to spice up your life and come out of your shell—and use carnelian to help you tap into your inner fire. This stone stimulates your passionate side, and helps you embrace the adventurous spirit that you may have kept hidden. Carnelian is an aphrodisiac stone and aids you in embracing your carnal desires and expressing your sexuality in healthy ways.

Dear Leo, your intuition and energetic sensitivity will be heightened this month. On May 8, the sun will form a sextile to Neptune, empowering you to tap into your psychic abilities, your creativity, and your inner knowing. On May 21, the sun conjuncts Mercury in the sign of Taurus, and you may be prone to overthinking. To harness all this watery energy and calm the mind, work with moonstone. You may feel overwhelmed by your senses or have confusing (but vivid) dreams. Moonstone will help you attain emotional balance and calm anxieties associated with excess psychic energy. Moonstone will also help you make sense of visions, dreams, and any signs you may receive from the universe.

On May 6, Mercury enters Taurus. This combination grounds your thoughts, ideas, and plans into the physical. It is an auspicious time to get the ball rolling on any projects that require your analytical and organizational ingenuity. On May 21, the sun enters Gemini, encouraging you to learn new things—even if you feel you know all there is to know in a particular field or subject. Fluorite aids you in any task that requires mental concentration, offering the focus needed to help you structure your thoughts. It also helps you absorb and integrate new information.

Dear Libra, this month love is the name of the game. On May 14 the Venus-Mars sextile gives a positive boost to your self-confidence—take advantage by putting yourself out there. On May 15, Venus enters Taurus, energizing your sexual and romantic apatite. If you want to draw in a partner that wants more than a physical connection, work with Jade. This stone helps you heal from heartbreaks of the past and opens you up to receiving and trusting in new love. If you have been feeling jaded about love (pun intended) then this stone is for you.

Dear Scorpio, what is your game plan? The Taurus new moon on May 4 asks you to enjoy the present, but plan for the future. The full moon on May 18 in your sign continues this trend, calling you to dive deep within and focus on a clear direction in your life. Labradorite can assist you in seeing beyond what you know, envisioning what could be—what is aligned to your highest good. The magical, reflective sheen of this crystal mirrors the vast universe, with all the stars and galaxies. Labradorite brings you the space of pure potential, where anything can manifest.

Dear Sagittarius, how can you carry an attitude of success and positivity sustainably? The Mercury-Jupiter retrograde on the 2nd and the Venus-Jupiter retrograde trine on the 9th brings wonderful, prosperous energy at the beginning of the month. To keep these high vibes flowing, work with green aventurine. Known as the stone of opportunity, green aventurine will encourage you to look for all potential paths to prosperity. This stone also helps you in leading with your heart. You want to put the effort in things you believe in, you want to do what you love. Use green aventurine to align your ambition with your soul.

Big change is afoot this month. On May 18 you enter a powerful Venus-Uranus conjunction in Taurus. This transit will affect how you view your relationships with your friends, colleagues, romantic partner, and family.  It will also change how you view your relationship with yourself. If you’ve been feeling stuck, get ready to shake things up. To help keep you grounded and ready for what comes your way, work with garnet. This stone activates your survival instinct, helping you navigate your course with strength and grace. It empowers you and wakes up your fighting spirit. Life is about change and transition; keep garnet in your arsenal to keep you nimble.

Dear Aquarius, finance is on your mind at the beginning of the month. The Taurus new moon on May 4 urges you to plant seeds that will reap a healthy harvest. The Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Taurus on May 8 activates new ideas to bring in wealth. To amplify these financially beneficial aspects, add pyrite to your crystal collection. Pyrite encourages you to be assertive and to understand what you are worth so you align with opportunities that deserve. Pyrite is a stone of abundance and manifestation, it was often mistaken for gold, and it will help you realize what true success and prosperity mean to you.

This month, it is important to differentiate between intention and projection. The sun-Neptune sextile on May 9 can affect your emotional sensitivity, making you absorb more than you usually do. Don’t be reactive, be introspective. Just because someone says something that may offend you, it does not mean that they meant to do so. Do not project your issues on others. To keep a rational mind and deflect negativity, work with black tourmaline. This stone absorbs heavy emotions, whether it comes from you or someone else. Black tourmaline helps you honor what you are feeling, so you can be aware of what your needs are in the present moment.

If April showers bring May flowers, get ready for an astrological bloom. After the flurry of activity that the cosmos has delivered since the start of the year, May presents us with an opportunity to rest, breathe, and reap the benefits of the work we’ve done so. far. The planets are aligning to give you space to slow down and smell the flowers—perfect for earthy Taurus season—and redefining your sense of self-care will be important this month, especially ahead of social Gemini’s reign.

At the end of last month, Pluto went retrograde, where it will remain until October. In general, retrogrades are a time when big transformations occur internally, and this is no exception. During this retrograde, Pluto is conjunct Saturn, bringing all things work- and routine-related into focus. Insecurities or fears surrounding your career could bubble up during this time, challenging you to evaluate your resources and confidence. Pluto is known for being daring, dark, and on a mission to find the truth. Prepare for the unexpected during this time, as Pluto will likely be shining a light on some surprises you may have preferred to keep in the dark. Pluto is also associated with sex and desire, so it may well be time to tackle issues around that area of your life.

The new moon on May 4 is poised to be deeply restorative. New moons teach us the value of going within and embracing the darkness. In the sign of Taurus, staying home and finding joy in simple luxuries is the right move. If you’re feeling drained, experiment with your senses. What kinds of smells, tastes, or tactile feelings are you responding to right now? The answers could be an important key to what your body needs this next month.

What’s do the stars have in store for you this month?

Be prepared to slow down on May 6, when Mercury enters Taurus. The sign of the bull is steadfast and stable—it doesn’t rush things. You might find delays in projects or accomplishing goals, but this doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Rather, consider this an invitation to really give things the time they deserve. Do be prepared to find yourself in some conversational stalemates as Taurus’ influence on the planet of communication will have people feeling stubborn. Take your time—and a deep breath—and you’ll pull through.

Creature comforts take center stage as Venus enters Taurus (the sign which it rules) on May 15. While Venus is deeply associated with love and romance, it also determines our sense of beauty. Sensual Taurus inspires us to seek beauty, treat ourselves, and focus on quality. This is a good time to rethink your sense of spending. Think about what really matters to you, and thus deserves your investment.

Be careful of emotions running high when Mars enters Cancer (also on May 15). This placement encourages passive-aggressive tendencies, so watch what you say and how you say it. Remember, it’s important to ask for what you need—just do it with compassion and respect.

The full moon in Scorpio on May 18 is a powerful time to work on your shadow self. What scares you? During Uranus retrograde, it’s common for childhood patterns or wounds to come to the surface. This moon is a good time to work on some deep healing.

May 21 Gemini season begins, bringing a renewed sense of joviality and fun. After the recuperation time that occurred at the top of the month, the influx of social activity will feel like a breath of fresh air. Gemini season inspires us to share—who we are, what we know, and what we’ve learned.

Find out what’s in store for you this year!

May 29 Mercury in Gemini square to Neptune in Pisces—a powerhouse conjunction. You may experience a tension between wanting to connect and feeling oversensitive. You might be too giving of your time, so remember to protect your energy and respect your own boundaries.

May 30 finds Mercury in Gemini opposite Jupiter in Sagittarius, while Venus in Taurus trines Saturn in Capricorn. Conversations today will be bold and worldly—get ready for some philosophical debates! This is also a good day to set a budget or get your finances in order. A trip or adventure you’ve been thinking about could be a great inspiration to start saving.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Friday, May 3

Before the lunar orb in Aries begins a void zone at 1:48 a.m. (during the monthly moon conjunction with Mercury) lasting for 11 hours until the moon enters earthy Taurus (1:19 p.m.), you can experience a wave of optimism and euphoria—courtesy of a flowing trine between the moon and King of the Gods Jupiter (1:07 a.m.) while the moon also parallels love goddess Venus (1:20 a.m.).

It is always good to remember that during any void lunar cycle, finishing old business on a high note is the rule of thumb while launching any bold plans is a no-no. This is reinforced because the dark-of-the-moon monthly phase is potent throughout this 24-hour time-period and for many hours tomorrow until the new moon in Taurus takes place. While gardening and exploring Mother Nature’s wonders are center stage with the moon’s presence in Taurus for the next two days, steer clear of mental fatigue as the sun forms an abrasive, 150-degree tie to Pallas (5:21 p.m.). Breakthroughs in higher consciousness and tuning into the future ahead of time are in the hopper as the moon embraces intuition-boosting Uranus (7:16 p.m.).

[Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Saturn & Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn until October/November 2019

Saturn & Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn until October/November 2019

The Shadow Illuminated
What happens in January 2020?

You may already know we have a big moment coming up on 12th/13th January 2020 when a conjunction between Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn heralds the beginning of a new developmental cycle lasting in excess of thirty years. Whilst the actual time of the conjunction and the days around it may well present some interesting challenges (more on that nearer the time!), its real significance lies in its relevance to the evolutionary development of humanity in the coming years. When the Lord of Karma (Saturn) meets the Lord of the Underworld (Pluto) in the ambitious, responsible and pragmatic earth sign Capricorn we know we’ll be held to account in terms of how we impose our will upon the world, take responsibility for our choices and behaviour, exercise and respond to authority and generally manage the material realm.

In the final week of April 2019, first Pluto and then Saturn turned retrograde in Capricorn. Doing so at this point dictates that when they finally form their conjunction in January 2020 it happens only once rather than several times across the course of a few months. A single alignment such as this reflects an intense but relatively short-lived recalibration which sets us on a new path rapidly and with little mercy! We’re not afforded time to adjust, test the water or tip-toe out of our comfort zone. Like a bird pushed out of the nest by a well-meaning parent, we must simply learn to fly on the wing. And learn we will. That said, this conjunction is not the apocalyptic moment some may fear but instead an opportunity for an inner apocalypse of sorts: the deposing of the shadow-self which has imposed its limiting mores and constructs on us for so long we barely even know it’s there.

Deposing the Shadow Self

Both Saturn and Pluto were conjunct the South Node when they turned retrograde in April, alerting us to the risk of reviving old and unhelpful habits in the coming months. But if we use this time to reflect, realign and prepare for a meaningful new beginning in 2020, the past can become fertiliser in the present, for a rich and productive future.

This alliance with the Moon’s South Node illuminates the fears, feelings and desires which form the shadow-self. It may be unsettling at first: a threat from within that we need to keep at bay. Mobilised to keep us small and safe, fear taunts us with all the dreadful things that might happen if we dared to speak our truth, follow our desires or admit to who we truly are beneath a lifetime’s veneer of ‘acceptability’. But Saturn and Pluto have no time for such small-minded thinking. They need us awake to ourselves – warts and all. Ready and willing to embrace the freedom and responsibility that comes with unwavering commitment to truth. Between May and November 2019 they invite us, somewhat insistently, to embrace the complexity of our shadow-self as a core aspect of humanity, not some dreadful aberration best ignored.

The funny thing about the shadow is we all have one, and mostly its contents are the same as everyone else’s. But few people want to own up! The details may vary a bit, but basically it’s the usual morass of anger, lust, envy, crippling vulnerability, fear, worthlessness, hatred, greed, blah, blah, blah…. We’re simply hiding what we all share, but somewhere along the line we’ve decided we’re the only one with these feelings and we really need to make sure no one else finds out otherwise there’ll be hell to pay!! This is how we collectively prevent anyone else owning up and ensure that no-one references what’s really going on beneath the surface of pretty much everyone everywhere!

We allow the shadow to isolate and shame us into silence. We deny those parts of us which don’t fit with who we want to be and hope they’ll keep quiet. The process seems tidy and efficient, but in practice it doesn’t work so well. The energy used to keep everything hidden (including from ourselves!) is energy wasted. It’s like leaving an electrical appliance plugged in, draining power when we don’t need to. It’s costly and unnecessary. All energy is precious and needs to be respected.

But won’t everyone owning up to their shadow be a risky business? What if we can’t control it once it’s all out there?!

Owning and accepting the shadow isn’t the same as acting it out, which tends to happen from a place of unconsciousness and denial rather than conscious intent. Admitting you want to do something isn’t the same as doing it. Acknowledging certain feelings isn’t the same as acting on them. It can, however, release considerable tension and enable us to better manage our inner drives. Normalising the shadow saves us from the tyranny of the repressed. Bringing radical acceptance and fierce compassion to the wounds that create denial in the first place enables conscious intentionality in times of stress. This helps guard against aberrant actions, not encourage them. The shadow controls us as long as it’s hidden. We control it once the tables have turned and we know what’s in there and why. As Carl Jung observed, Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate’.

Yes, this can be tricky inner work and if we need support to do it there’s absolutely no shame in seeking it out. It’s important we nurture ourselves into deeper inner integrity however we must. Psychotherapy, homoeopathy, acupuncture, bodywork (among many other techniques) can help facilitate the process. But so can a cup of tea with a good friend who can hear us speak our truth and still love us at the end of it. And if that good friend is your cat, dog or other furry companion they can bring their own special wisdom to the table! There’s no one way to do this work, to reclaim our authentic self. We all find our own way in our own time. Saturn and Pluto simply remind us that time may just be now and extend a guiding hand, albeit into some apparently dark and difficult places.

So the rest of this year will be best used normalising what we all share and accepting, without fuss or fanfare, that we all have these troublesome tendencies. It’s simply part of being human, not some dreadful aberration which must be kept hidden on pain of death! Anger, jealousy, depression, hatred, despair, violent impulses, lust – whatever it is you’re not owning up to you can rest assured there are thousands out there not owning up to the same thing!! And whilst this may all sound a bit dramatic, conjuring images of florid breakdowns, it can really be very low-drama ‘this is just the way it is’ if we want it to be. Because that’s actually the whole point: we’re not different because we have this inner darkness. What we believe may isolate us forever, is ironically what makes us all the same! Simply accepting that all this mess comes with being human can neutralise a whole load of pain and stress in the blink of an eye!

As we purge our shadow we purge our life…

In facing our true feelings now, change may become unavoidable once Saturn and Pluto join hands in January. As such, this shared retrograde offers the chance to make inner adjustments – an acknowledgement here, an acceptance there, a turning toward something we still fear to see – before we live our truth no matter what. Come January there may indeed be bridges to burn, but there will also be new paths to walk and fresh terrains on which to plant our flag and call our own.

Of course, truth doesn’t always come in a neat and tidy package. If that’s what we’re seeking we’ve already sown the seeds of denial. Truth encompasses everything and is rarely straightforward in a world of contradiction and paradox. The truth of ourselves is complex and uncomfortable. It’s our contradictory nature which says one thing and does another, both equally heartfelt. It’s us as loving and rejecting in the same moment, as peaceful and angry, as wise and yet impulsive and unthinking. It is us as spiritual and material beings, infused with the divine whilst bound to the physical realm of form and desire.

Through the rest of this year we’re invited to walk a path that bears some pitfalls. We may have to fall down them to discover what’s real and what’s not, who we are and who we’re not. Our discoveries may shake us to the core and challenge who we believe ourselves to be. But within that challenge lies the deepest truth: that when we touch the very ground of our being, all paradoxes are resolved into the simple statement ‘this is me’, without apology, excuse or explanation.

From fear to inspiration

Events in the coming months may illuminate the fear of having our true face judged by another. Saturn and Pluto will poke at our reluctance to simply be who we are and live our beliefs without guile or veneer, revealing where we avoid taking full responsibility for our lives. They present an alternative and more radical choice: a counterpoint to the pressure to conform, stay silent or speak only the ‘right’ things in the ‘acceptable’ way.

The drive to blend-in and be part of something bigger is a defining force in the human psyche. In days gone by it was the only way to ensure survival. Going it alone was a certain path to vulnerability and death. These days many are blessed with the chance to pursue their own truths, but even in doing so still seek others to affirm their worth. The prospect of standing completely alone – naked but for our own wisdom – is profoundly unsettling and though many strive to embody such freedom, it’s a rare individual who fully does so.

But a groundswell is happening and more people each day are standing firm in their own truth, shaking off the projections foisted upon them, the imaginings of those who look on in judgement or condemnation. This aloneness is an act of power. It doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the companionship of others. But if we rely too heavily on acceptance and not enough on the transformative power of authenticity, we risk losing ourselves in the quagmire of social pressure and trending perspectives peddled as unquestionable truths.

Fear controls us in subtle ways: as the voice of reason and responsibility or the whisper of ‘common sense’. It speaks about shame and demands we explain ourselves. It tells us we cannot survive alone in a world where acceptance is the all-access pass to security and power. It points out the pitfalls without acknowledging the joyful freedom of no longer needing to hide. We may have to face this fear in the months to come. We may even slip back into a constellation of emotion we thought we’d conquered. But don’t believe the lie! These very echoes are the doorway to liberation. They show us where we’ve adhered so fast to the opinions of others we no longer recognise our true self. They reveal where our deepest vulnerabilities lay, where our sense of self-worth is threatened. In doing so they invite us to embrace the fear, be engulfed by it, allow it to flood through us like a tidal wave. By holding our nerve in its onslaught we reclaim our power to discern which fears simply diminish us and which speak words we actually need to hear.

By expanding to embrace fear rather than shrinking to accommodate it, a crippling dread can slowly morph into nervous excitement and anxious but enlivening anticipation. This is how we find the courage to say ‘no’ after decades of saying ‘yes’, or to stick with ‘I don’t know’ when pushed to take sides. Gradually and step by step, as we live more fully our own truth, fear becomes inspiration: the augur of greater authenticity and an opportunity to further embody our sovereign self.

Fear has its place, for sure, but not in the diminishment of our autonomy. To the extent that we allow it free reign without question, it will continue to shrink and belittle us. Saturn and Pluto insist it’s time to face it, acknowledge its mighty power and in so doing transform it into courage for the road ahead.

Pluto, Saturn, South Node: Going Back To Move Forward

Pluto, Saturn, South Node: Going Back To Move Forward

Saturn is going retrograde today on 20 degrees Capricorn.

Pluto went retrograde last week on 23 degrees Capricorn.

The South Node is retrograde (nodes are always retrograde) currently on 21 degrees Capricorn.

What does this mean?

Firstly, these three planetary power-brokers are all together right now which strongly impacts their influence on each other. This combined influence has a stronger than usual impact on us (personally and collectively) than any one of these planets/points would have on their own.  On their own they can and do trigger major life events and shifts in perspective. Together, they are likely to trigger massive turning points that offer collapse and stability all at once, quantum leaps that feel destined, end of one life/beginning of another life type situations, and huge healing moments when it comes to finally understanding what’s been holding you back – and letting go of it once and for all!. Halleluljah!

Not only are they together, but as of this week they are ALL moving in the same direction – retrograde – until mid-September when Saturn starts moving forward again.

(Note: technically speaking retrograde doesn’t mean any planet is literally moving backwards. They only appear to be, just like when you drive faster than the car next to you and from your perspective it looks like the car next to you is going backwards in that moment. Even though the planets don’t actually move backwards, the occasional appearance that they are is known as “retrograde phase”. Retrograde periods mean that each particular planet has a slightly different affect on us than when it is in “direct” phase.)

We also have Jupiter Retrograde at 23 Sagittarius. So he isn’t in the exact same space as the other trio, but it’s safe to say he’s there via video-conference call adding his expansion-loving, abundance-focused, adventure-seeking mojo.

Retrograding planets love introspection. They love putting the microscope on things. Been avoiding a certain life area or situation? Been neglecting a big part of your self? Have you been trying to make things happen but they just haven’t worked out due to unresolved old patterns? A retrograding planet will shine the torch on those things, helping you to see issues, and solutions, more clearly. If you’re paying attention to inner and outer nudges, retrograde phases can feel like deep dives into whatever needs exploring, expanding, healing and shifting. If you are trying to plough on, business as usual, ignoring signs that something needs to change, well, you’re still going to be sent on a deep dive in one way or other only you might experience it like “Why is it so dark in here? Why is this space so tight? Why can’t I be back on the boat on the surface?” Enjoy the deep dive for what it is: a seek and find treasure hunt, a soul search and rescue period. You’ll get back to the surface eventually, and when you do, you’ll be all the richer for it, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and yes, even financially.

So how’s this all going to play out?

We all have 20-23 Capricorn somewhere in our natal chart. So a good place to start is go to and see where that is for you. It will be in one of your 12 houses. The house that these degrees are in, will give you a heads up as to which area of your life is most due for deep diving right now.  Also check out if you have any natal planets on those degrees because if you do, Pluto, Saturn and the South Node will have an extra big affect on you.

Saturn represents: the Father – your biological father or anyone in your life that had the role of father, it includes your inner father, your inner parent voice. How did your father affect you? Is there healing to be done? Or unfinished business? Are you still carrying old wounds or old words around via your inner parent/inner father voice? Sometimes we grow up, live our own lives, but we still continue to carry these old wounds or old words with us as if our critical parent is right there on our shoulder. Do you talk to yourself like your father did? Are you becoming your father? For some of you this might be a good thing.  For others, it’s time to say enough. Saturn can be about us stepping into our own healthy inner (or outer) father role. Being the father that we never had but needed. Being our own protector and provider, or stepping up and being that for others. Creating the healthy role model we so wanted.

Saturn also represents people in positions of authority, governments, lawyers, the legal process. Rules and regulations. Contracts. If this is something that’s around you right now, know that certain t’s have to be crossed and i’s dotted. Rather than looking at it like someone has authority over you, ask yourself: How is this on some level helping me, protecting me, setting me up for more stability and security (in the long-term), or teaching me something?

Saturn is about growing up, being an adult and putting on your big girl or big boy boots. Owning and claiming your inner authority, as well as outer authority and sovereignty over your own life.

It represents duties and responsibilities, as well as restrictions, limitations and discipline (in an, “for your own good, to protect you/serve you later down the track” kind of way, although it often doesn’t feel like that at the time). While Jupiter is over there waving the rewarding carrot in freedom loving Sagittarius, Saturn in Boss Capricorn wants to make sure you are ready for it and get there in a solid honest way. We’ve all heard about the people who win millions in the lottery only to have lost it all just a few short years later right? Well not on Saturn’s watch. Saturn asks: Have you cleared your inner worth issues before I hand you this? Have you done your homework? Have you studied hard and passed your exams before I can give you this degree? (Or if not, if you’ve been, let’s say, part of a college admissions scandal, Saturn will shake his head sternly and say no you can’t do that anymore.) Saturn asks Have you eaten your vegies before I give you dessert? Do you know how to drive safely before I hand you the keys to this high-powered sports car?  If you have a business and want it to be more financially fruitful, Saturn wants to know: what systems do you have in place? What are you doing on a day to day, week to week, scheduled, routined way to get where you want to go? Saturn can seem like a real party pooper, but he really has your best interests at heart and is all about the long-term as opposed to short-term gratification.

Saturn also represents karma, time and timing. There’s no getting past the red light once Saturn has it on which can feel mega frustrating if you don’t realise what’s happening. But, he’ll turn it onto green once he sees you are good and ready. So buckle up, read your manual, prepare your foundations, do your homework, trade dodgy shortcuts for a slow and steady wins the race approach. It’s not true that things can’t happen during a retrograde phase. Absolutely they can. ONCE you’ve done any necessary reviewing, repairing, renovating etc.

Pluto represents: Transformation, Death, Rebirth. Pluto is the Tower card in the Tarot – it’s the ending and collapse of the old, so that new life and energy can rise from the ashes.  During a major Pluto transit you can go through a major identity overhaul, or identity breakdown wondering who even am I anymore? This eventually leads to an identity breakthrough as the next, newer, better version of yourself comes through.

Pluto represents your shadow. What part of yourself have you been avoiding or neglecting? What part of yourself do you project onto others?

Pluto is about power. Do you own your power in a healthy way? Do you shy away from your power or hand it over to others? Do you abuse your power or take it from others in any way? Do you have negative associations with the word power, and need to re-define it in healthier terms?

Right this minute, what words or images do you associate with Power?

If your words and images need an upgrade to something more positive replace them now or make a note to journal about it, draw it out or even do a Healthy Power vision board!

On a collective level we are in the throes of a massive shift when it comes to who we’ve given our power to, what they’ve done with that power, who has had authority over us, who we’ve deemed as a voice of authority, and what has been hidden in the shadows that the majority of humanity have not known about.

The “Power Pyramid” is being dismantled brick by brick, bottom bricks first (lower power players), then going to medium before eventually reaching the top. So we’ve been seeing revelations of sexual abuse of power in Hollywood mainly in relation to women, and now slowly we’re starting to see well known public figures being exposed in relation to the sexual abuse and trafficking of children. The more that the bottom of the iceberg melts, the more that there will be less and less to hold the rest up.

The South Node represents: what is familiar and a comfort-zone, however it isn’t necessarily a huge area of growth for us if we were to just stay there our whole life. Some people say that our North Node represents what we are here to move toward, while our South Node is what we have to let go of, which isn’t entirely true. It’s taken me a long time to really understand the Nodes (and I’m sure there is plenty to yet understand), because I think it’s not until you really live out their lesson over and over again that you start to get what they’re here to teach us. A more accurate description of the Nodes is: We’re here to live an integrated, balanced life embodying the best of both our North and South Nodes. Life will let you relax into your easeful South Node, once you’ve taken the time to really own your North Node. But even then, the South Node won’t let you just be in South Node mode all the time. It wouldn’t truly fulfill you on a soul level. For example:

If your North Node is in the 10th house of Career, and your South Node is Home and Family, your comfort zone is the latter but life will keep pushing you to follow your own work-related ambitions whether out of necessity or a nagging inner drive. This doesn’t mean you have to abandon your home and family or live without them. It means that life isn’t set up to let you be immersed in them full time. Either circumstances won’t allow it, or you will feel like something is missing if your life is solely about that. The more you follow your career goals or get out there in the world, the more fulfilling, easeful and healthy your home and family life will be.

So we can look at the North and South Nodes as a see-saw. One side is very developed, so the other side needs extra attention so that you can achieve a healthy balance. Some people crave their North Node, while others have to really be pushed into it.

What does it mean then for the South Node to currently be meeting with Pluto and Saturn? Astrologers associate the South Node with the past – be it past lives, or ancestral patterns. With it aspecting Pluto and Saturn so closely, when it comes to our transformation, rebirth and ‘firming up our foundations’ processes, for a lot of people this may involve “going back to move forward”.

For example: old family patterns or issues coming up so that you can deal with them, shift them, move on from them; finding out things about your family line, family history or personal history that helps you to understand things that never made sense, and that can now help you to move forward in a new way; having certain situations come full circle; karmic endings and new beginnings; going through old papers/photo albums/diaries, sifting, sorting, letting go.

The North Node is directly opposite Pluto and Saturn this year so you might find yourself being catapulted out of your comfort zone into things that feel very destined and exciting even if you’re also feeling “How am I going to do this?!!”

Balance will be a huge theme during this period. If you keep getting setbacks at work, is your home and family life needing more attention? If you are all about taking care of others and regularly feel drained, it’s time to make sure you are attending to your self – making time for self-care, and asserting your needs.  If you are big on planning and routine, you may be experiencing huge signs that it’s time to trust and surrender to the flow that is wanting to perhaps take you to other destinations, in other ways.

May – June – July – August: These are all big months thanks to all of the above. You may find yourself in a very different place at the end of this time than you were at the start. This is an excellent time to do any sort of self-overhaul project: Commit to a workout plan, take on a challenge of journalling or meditating every day for 100 days, declutter or re-organise your home, make a new vision board and get your family to do one each with you.

Can you feel the winds of change in the air?

Has this Saturn/Pluto/South Node conjunction started to affect your life already? How?
