Hail, O Hathor!

January 23 was dedicated to the mother goddess Het-Hert in ancient Egypt (better known by her Greek name, Hathor and sometimes conflated with Isis). Hathor was described in ancient literature and art as the “Nile goose” that laid the golden egg (the sun), and was frequently depicted with a cow’s head–or at least a cow’s horns, often enclosing the red solar disk–and sometimes breastfeeding an infant. In sevenfold form, she was worshiped as the Hathors, when she was invokes as a kindly protector of new born babies.

Make Magic with Marjoram

For a change this evening, try a dish containing marjoram. Not only is this culinary herb, which is sacred to Uranus, said to reduce wind, but the fresh or dried leaves complement all manner of ingredients from meats through vegetables to eggs and dairy products.
