Tuesday Is Ruled By Mars

Tuesday is a Mars day, and just like the god of war, this is the time to tap into magicks to call for strength and courage. This day of the week is for rebels and warriors. If you are facing a challenge of any kind, need a boost to your courage, or want to enhance your passions, Tuesday is the day of the week for you.

Some suggestions for Tuesday enchantments would include:

*Wearing the fiery colors associated with this day: scarlet, red, black, and orange. Don some of the more daring and bewitching colors of your wardrobe on Tuesdays and turn a few heads

*Carrying a bloodstone in your pocket or wearing garnet-studded jewelry to reinforce your convictions

*Working with protective and fire-associated plants such as the snapdragon, thistle, and holly to boost your shields and bravery

*Burning spicy-scented energy-enhancing candles to add a little magical aromatherapy to your home

*Cooking up a hearty meal featuring carrots, peppers, and garlic (all Mars foods and spices) to empower yourself for victory and success

Deities Who Have Ties to Tuesdays – Eros, Greek God of Passion and Lust

dragons
Eros, Greek God of Passion and Lust

Often described as a son of Aphrodite by her lover Ares, the god of war, Eros was a Greek god of lust and primal sexual desire. In fact, the word erotic comes from his name. He is personified in all kinds of love and lust — heterosexual and homosexual — and was worshiped at the center of a fertility cult that honored both Eros and Aphrodite together.

Eros in Mythology

There does seem to be some question about Eros’ parentage.

In later Greek myth he is indicated to be Aphrodite’s son, but Hesiod portrays him as merely her servant or attendant. Some stories say Eros is the child of Iris and Zephyrus, and early sources, such as Aristophanes, say he is the offspring of Nix and Erebus, which would make him quite an old god indeed.

During the classical Roman period, Eros evolved into Cupid, and became portrayed as the chubby cherub that still remains as a popular image today. He is typically shown blindfolded — because, after all, love is blind — and carrying a bow, with which he shot arrows at his intended targets. As Cupid, he is often invoked as a god of pure love during Valentine’s Day, but in his original form, Eros was mostly about lust and passion.

Early History and Worship

Eros was honored in a general way across much of the ancient Greek world, but there were also specific temples and cults dedicated to his worship, particularly in the southern and central cities. The Greek writer Callistratus described a statue of Eros that appeared in the temple at Thespeia, the earliest known, and most popular cult site. Callistratus’ summary is extremely poetic…and borders on the erotic.

“The Eros, the workmanship of Praxiteles, was Eros himself, a boy in the bloom of youth with wings and bow. Bronze gave expression to him, and as though giving expression to Eros as a great and dominating god, it was itself subdued by Eros; for it could not endure to be only bronze, but it became Eros just as he was. You might have seen the bronze losing its hardness and becoming marvelously delicate in the direction of plumpness and, to put the matter briefly, the material proving equal to fulfilling all the obligations that were laid upon it. It was supple but without effeminacy; and while it had the proper color of bronze, it looked bright and fresh; and though it was quite devoid of actual motion, it was ready to display motion; for though it was fixed solidly on a pedestal, it deceived one into thinking that it possessed the power to fly… As I gazed on this work of art, the belief came over me that Daidalos had indeed wrought a dancing group in motion and had bestowed sensation upon gold, while Praxiteles had all but put intelligence into his image of Eros and had so contrived that it should cleave the air with its wings.

As a god of lust and passion – and fertility as well – Eros played a major role in courtship. Offerings were made at his temples, in the form of plants and flowers, vessels filled with sacred oils and wine, beautifully crafted jewelry, and sacrifices.

Eros didn’t have too many boundaries when it came to making people fall in love, and was considered the protector of same-sex love as well as hetero relationships.

Festivals and Celebrations

In the city of Athens, Eros was honored side by side at the acropolis with Aphrodite, starting around the fifth century B.C.E. Every spring, a festival took place honoring Eros – after all, spring is the season of fertility, so what better time to celebrate a god of passion and lust? The Erotidia happened in March or April, and was an event full of sporting events, games, and art.

Interestingly, scholars seem to disagree on whether or not Eros was a god who functioned independently of others, or whether he always appeared complementary to Aphrodite. It is possible that Eros did not appear as an autonomous deity of fecundity and reproduction, but instead as the fertility aspect of Aphrodite’s worship.

Modern Worship of Eros

There are still some Hellenic polytheists who honor Eros in their worship today. Appropriate offerings to Eros include fruits like the apple or grapes, or flowers that are representative of love, such as roses. You can also include a bow and arrow, or symbols of them, on your altar. If you’re honoring Eros as a deity of fertility, rather than primarily of lust, consider fertility symbols like rabbits and eggs.

Magickal Days of the Week – Tuesday

Game of Life
Magickal Days of the Week – Tuesday

Named for the Norse god Tyr, who was a deity of heroism and combat, Tuesday is a very martial sort of day – color associations include bright red and oranges, as well as warrior-like metals such as iron and steel.

The ancient Romans called this day Martis, after the warrior god Mars – other deities associated with Tuesday include Ares, the Morrighan, and other gods of battle and glory. Red gemstones like rubies and garnets come into play on Tuesdays, as do herbs and plants such as thistles, holly, coneflowers and cacti – you’ll notice these are all sharp, prickly plants!

One of the interesting – and more than a little amusing – aspects of Tuesday magic is that in addition to war and conflict against your enemies, this is a day also associated with marriage. You can also use this day of the week for magical workings connected to protection and initiation. Use Tuesday to assert yourself, make a mark and stake your claims.

Tuesday’s Witchery

Tuesday’s Witchery

Tuesday is the day to work any magick that falls in the category of increasing strength, courage, bravery, and passion. All of these intense emotions are linked to this day’s energies, and spells designed around these themes will have extra punch when performed on this magickal day.

So, let’s add a little passion and conviction into your life! Break out the daring red pieces of your wardrobe, and put a little pizzazz into your day. Work with Lilith, and see what she has to teach you about personal power and sexuality. Meditate on Tiw/Tyr and Mars, and see what those ancient warrior gods will show you about new tactics, strategies, and claiming personal victories in your life. Practice conjuring up that astral weapon from the meditation and use it wisely for protection and for courage.

Create a philter for courage and protection or handcraft your own Witch’s jar to remove negativity from your home. See what other Witch crafts you can conjure up with Tuesday’s magick. Create some kitchen magick on this Tuesday by whipping up a spicy stew-add in a few Mars-associated ingredients such as carrots, peppers, and garlic. Empower the stew for success, and then treat yourself and your family to a good, hearty meal. Try working with a little aromatherapy and burn some spicy or coffee-scented candles to increase your energy level.

Check the sky at night, and see if you can find the reddish planet Mars up in the heavens. Not sure where to look? Check an astronomy magazine or search the Web for more information. Become a magickal warrior and move forward in your life with strength, courage, and compassion. Embrace the side of yourself that loves a good challenge and that is passionate and daring! Banish fear, and face your future with strength and conviction. Believe in yourself and in your dreams, work hard, and you will win every time.

Tuesday

Fairytale with dragons
Tuesday

A god, goddess, or planet governs each day of the week. It is usually easy to spot the ruler of the day by its name. The word Tuesday, however, is not so easy, but if we look at the word in Spanish, Martes, we clearly see its connections to Mars.

Because Tuesday revolves around the energy of Mars, Tuesdays are good for business, mechanical things, buying and selling animals, hunting, beginning studies, gardening, sexual activities, and confrontation. This is a day for sex magick, energy, stamina, and health. As in the old saying, Tuesdays child is full of grace, is also good for success magick and defense against enemies.

Angels of Tuesday are Camael, Samael, Satael, Amabiel, Friagne, and Hyniel. When invoked, Camael takes the form of a leopard. In Druid mythology he is a god of war, which is why we see him associated with Mars. Camael is said to be a member of the “Magnificent Seven” in some circles. Camael is another “terminator” angel.

Samael walks both worlds as a magician and sorcerer. some see him as the angel of death, others as “the bright and poisonous one.” Many consider him more of a demon, and accuse him of being Satan. However, there is reference to the satans (plural) as enforcers of the law, a sort of angelic police, if you will. Supposedly, when Samael is around, dogs howl in the night. On one hand, he is the ruler of the fifth heaven and in charge of two million angels; on the other, he is the one who changed into a serpent and convinced Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit of knowledge.

Satael is an angel of air invoked in magic rites and is the presiding spirit of the planet Mars. Amabiel is another spirit of the planet Mars; however he spends his energy on issues of human sexuality. Friagne, also an angel of this day, is invoked from the east. He is a member of the fifth heaven. Hyniel also belongs to this day and is subject to the east wind.

On Tuesdays the hour of sunrise and every eight hours after that are also ruled by Mars, and that makes these times of the day doubly blessed. These four hours are the strongest ones to do ritual in. Check your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine your local sunrise.

The Cosmos for February 22 thru February 28

In the Land of Dragons
The Cosmos for February 22 thru February 28

Monday, February 22
Full Moon officially arrives at 1:20 p.m. EST, but it will look completely illuminated all night. You can find it rising in the east just after sunset and peaking in the south shortly after midnight local time. It dips low in the west by the time morning twilight begins. During the course of the night in North America, the Moon slides from Leo across the northeastern corner of Sextans and then back into Leo.

Tuesday, February 23
One night after Full Moon, Luna appears next to Jupiter. The pair rises around 7 p.m. local time and remains on view until dawn. The waning gibbous Moon, still some 98 percent illuminated, passes 1.7° due south of the planet at 11 p.m. EST. Once our satellite moves away later in the week, take some time to observe Jupiter by itself. The giant planet shines at magnitude –2.5, which makes it the sky’s brightest point of light until Venus rises shortly before dawn. The best time to view Jupiter through a telescope is when it climbs highest in the south around midnight. The planet’s spectacular disk spans 44″ and shows at least two parallel dark belts in its dynamic atmosphere. Jupiter is near its best for the year right now, reaching opposition two weeks from today.

Wednesday, February 24
Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10) currently glows around 9th magnitude and appears nice through 6-inch and larger telescopes. The comet resides in the rather barren northern constellation Camelopardalis the Giraffe, which remains on view all night from most of the Northern Hemisphere but appears highest during the early evening hours. If you target Catalina before the Moon rises tonight, you’ll find it just 0.5° from planetary nebula NGC 1501, which lies next to the picturesque string of stars known as Kemble’s Cascade.

Thursday, February 25
The next two weeks offer an excellent chance to see the zodiacal light. From the Northern Hemisphere, late winter and early spring are great times to observe this elusive glow after sunset. It appears slightly fainter than the Milky Way, so you’ll need a clear moonless sky and an observing site located far from the city. Look for the cone-shaped glow, which has a broad base and points nearly straight up from the western horizon, after the last vestiges of twilight have faded away. The Moon stays out of the early evening sky until March 10.

Friday, February 26
One of the sky’s largest asterisms — a recognizable pattern of stars separate from a constellation’s form — occupies center stage on February evenings. To trace the so-called Winter Hexagon, start with southern Orion’s luminary, Rigel. From there, the hexagon makes a clockwise loop. The second stop is brilliant Sirius in Canis Major. Next, pick up Procyon in the faint constellation Canis Minor, then the twins Castor and Pollux in Gemini, followed by Capella in Auriga, Aldebaran in Taurus, and finally back to Rigel.

The Moon reaches apogee, the farthest point in its orbit around Earth, at 10:28 p.m. EST. It then lies 251,894 miles (405,383 kilometers) from Earth’s center.

Saturday, February 27
Mars rises shortly after midnight local time this week and climbs some 30° high in the south by the time morning twilight starts to paint the sky. The Red Planet shines at magnitude 0.3 and dominates the dim stars of its host constellation, Libra the Scales. When viewed through a telescope, Mars appears 8″ across and should display a prominent north polar cap.

Sunday, February 28
Saturn is an easy object to find in the southeastern sky during the early morning hours. It rises along with the background stars of southern Ophiuchus, a region that rises by 2 a.m. local time and climbs nearly 30° above the southern horizon by the time twilight begins. Shining at magnitude 0.5, the planet appears slightly dimmer than Mars, which lies about 20° to its upper right. A telescope reveals Saturn’s 16″-diameter disk surrounded by a beautiful ring system that spans 37″ and tilts 26° to our line of sight.
Neptune is in conjunction with the Sun at 11 a.m. EST. The distant planet is hopelessly lost in the solar glare but will return to view before dawn in April.

What A Beautiful, Spring-like Day The Goddess Has Blessed Us With! All Praise To Our Divine Mother!

Dragons eyeUnsinkable

I am an introduction
To a Broadway production
Including seduction
Living eruption
End your corruption
No need for destruction
No more with disruption
You’ll reap repercussion
Where is your protection
This is a reflection
What’s with all the aggression
Save your deception
No more oppression
I know how obsessive
I can’t help I’m so restless
How can this be so infectious
Try not to be reckless
I come with correctness
Excuse my directness
Just flowing with freshness
Don’t make me put up the defenses
You’ll dislike the consequences
Your fate is ominous
You can’t touch my opulence
On full reconnaissance
In it for full providence
This is my apocalypse
There is no dominance
Only perfect eminence
Ending your malevolence
It takes intelligence
To achieve excellence
Wanting full residence
You must walk with benevolence
Thankful for deliverance
Stow the ignorance
Before nothing is left in existence
Where is the assistance
How is that for a witness
It’s all ready been written
Sick of the system
No more playing victim
Full of wisdom
Lost in a rhythm
It’s beyond religion
Just use intuition
It will be the ammunition
To use in this demolition
Time for ignition
A new tradition
As we transition
Into this new system
Without resistance
Let’s get down to business
I’ll bring the provisions
You supply the visuals
A powerful ritual
To a whole new beginning
It’s official
Not artificial
Maybe habitual
Very unconditional
How’s that for principal
Nothing biblical
All formidable
We all are individual’s
How subliminal
All original
Not a criminal
Very unpredictable
Simply inexplicable
Don’t do the unthinkable
Just be ever unsinkable
