Aries

You’re in a more playful and possibly even buoyant mood today, dear Aries. There is an easy ability to express yourself and your feelings. You are generous, open, and forthcoming. As the day moves forward, you might experience a subtle shift in your priorities or your goals as you consider your dreams and ideals and how you might incorporate them into your professional pursuits. Material goals become more satisfying if they are balanced out with endeavors and adjustments that bring you a stronger sense of purpose or meaning. Daydreaming now can actually be very good for the soul. You are drawing upon your intuition, wisdom, and past experience for practical matters and have good business sense.

Taurus

Taurus

There is good energy for spending time with familiar people, dear Taurus. It’s a strong time for activities that boost your feelings of comfort, security, and inner wellness. At the same time, you can be entertaining different dreams of faraway places or new adventures today. There is part of you that is considering making some changes or enhancements to your life experience. You are seeking out different experiences or lines of thought. There can be new, creative ideas, particularly for overcoming problems and negative or distressing situations. It’s a good day for reviewing recently-made plans, particularly those revolving around higher education, travel, and personal or professional expansion.

Gemini

Gemini

There can be a nice focus on connecting, communicating, and learning again today, dear Gemini. You are not ready to commit to any one activity or endeavor, preferring to dabble and enjoy yourself as you do. As the day advances, you’re tuning in to your dreams and ideals. Look for inspiration, as it’s available now if you remain open. Forgiveness and acceptance come more easily now, and can help cleanse you. Try to wind down as much as possible, as an approaching Mercury-Mars square can stimulate your nerves. Care for your body and spirit now by surrounding yourself with positive, reinforcing situations.

Cancer

Cancer

This is a good day for getting centered, establishing priorities, and settling down, dear Cancer. You’re attracted to situations and activities that make you feel more secure and comfortable. Emotions are steadier than usual, and you can fully appreciate what you already have. This is important going forward, as patience can certainly help you to achieve your goals. As the day advances, your sense of what others need or want grows. Rapport with others can be almost telepathic tonight. It’s also a fine time for sharing an idea, belief or dream. Educational or travel plans may come together beautifully now.

Leo

Leo

The Moon is in your sign all day, and your heart tends to rule your head. You can be feeling nostalgic. Your sensitivity, psychic ability, imagination, and intuition are heightened. You can be especially drawn to mysteries or unexplained phenomena now. Especially as the day moves forward, you appreciate a warm, accepting, and hospitable atmosphere. A research matter can fall into place as you seem to hone in on the right information or the picture fills in your mind, and in a general sense as well, you have faith that things will fall in place for you going forward.

Virgo

Virgo Symbol/Glyph
Virgo

The Moon in your solar twelfth house all day points to some need to withdraw or take extra time to process, think, decide, and act, dear Virgo. Unresolved matters from the past can resurface, and this allows you to better understand where you are now. Your inner landscape is animated today, and as we move towards a Sun-Neptune influence, this is reinforced. Your imagination is enhanced. Good energy is with you for relating to others. There is acceptance now, and recognition that control is only an illusion, which helps you to surrender to the unknown. What will be, will be is the motto for later today! It can help you to relax and enjoy the moment.

Libra

Libra Glyph-Symbol
Libra

Your needs for companionship that has few expectations is strong today, dear Libra. You’re inclined to put your social life and happiness goals at the top of your list right now. Even so, there is also good energy with you as the day advances for some level of mental or physical retreat. Seek out the pause that refreshes. You might see a family or work matter in a different, more understanding light. The desire to accept and empathize is strong, and this encourages the kind of patience that benefits you greatly.

Scorpio

Scorpio Symbol Glyph
Scorpio

You can be in the position of being in charge or in the lead today, dear Scorpio. You may not get away with much today – people are noticing you! It’s a good time to assess your priorities and to take care of some of your duties or obligations. As the day advances, we approach a Sun-Neptune sextile which serves to reconnect us with our spiritual goals, compassion, and intuition. Creative entertainment can be soothing, healing, and especially beneficial now, so aim to let go of duties later today and enjoy some down time. Someone you meet, or who is already in your life, can expand your perspective. There is creative flair to your presentation, particularly your communications, and it can be a good time to make a connection, share ideas, and express your feelings.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius Glyph Symbol
Sagittarius

The Moon is in a Fire sign, just like yours, dear Sagittarius, and this all-day influence gently encourages easy expression and emotional satisfaction. As the day advances, we approach a Sun-Neptune sextile that helps us to seek out beauty in our lives. Consciously slow yourself down and tap into this “go with the flow” philosophy. Remind yourself of your most important goals and values. It’s a strong time for assessing your current path and thinking up ways to flesh things out with spiritual and emotional goals in such a way that they are more fulfilling and motivating.

Capricorn

Capricorn Symbol/Glyph
Capricorn

This is a good day for accessing your inner wisdom and your powers of observation, dear Capricorn. For one, the Moon in your intimacy sector tends to stimulate your need to look for the layers of situations and people rather than taking things at face value. For another, the Sun and Neptune are moving towards a harmonious angle, encouraging attention drawn towards your imagination and intuition. As the day advances, sharing some of your expertise with others or reaching out and showing your support makes sense. Act on charitable impulses.

Aquarius

Aquarius

You are able to see others’ perspectives quite easily, dear Aquarius, effortlessly slipping into their shoes. Understanding is a wonderful form of support, so aim to express it. Inner mental imagery can help or hinder you, and is likely to do the former today, particularly as the day advances and we move towards a Sun-Neptune sextile that further enhances your intuition and empathy. You can be feeling strongly about helping others, and volunteering your support or services can be rewarding.

Pisces

Pisces

This is another day for focusing on the routines of your life and the details that need attention, dear Pisces. As the day advances, you’re likely to feel more and more in your element with the Sun and Neptune approaching a harmonious angle. Others are especially supportive of you, especially as you let go of expectations. Accommodating others can be very satisfying as well. You’re less focused on what matters to you and more interested in the bigger or broader picture. It’s easier to empathize with others, and this attracts them to you.

Your Love Horoscopes for the Week of December 28th

  • General Horoscope

Conversations with your partner may be testy on Tuesday thanks to Mercury squaring off with Mars in relationship-oriented Libra. Remember to think before you speak, or else you might regret your words in the morning! Then on Wednesday, Venus enters Sagittarius where she’ll remain until January 23. Romantic adventures are on the docket for all. Your faith in love will be inspiring. After Mars enters sexy Scorpio on Sunday, passion, obsession, and control are all themes in your sex life until March 5.

  • Aries Horoscope Mar 21 – Apr 19

Avoid talking to your partner about career matters on Tuesday. You’ll only become aggravated by how the conversation turns. Shared resources with a partner will become a key area of focus after Sunday, and a joint decision about finances is likely. If single, after Wednesday you could meet someone from another culture or background — someone you find intriguing. You’ll immediately know that he or she has something very special to teach you.

  • Taurus Horoscope Apr 20 – May 20

After Wednesday you and your partner may enjoy an extra financial boost. The two of you might have made an investment together and if so, you may discover that it has done quite well. Another possibility is that your mate will announce that he or she has received a fabulous raise. After Sunday you’ll feel even more motivated than usual to experience true intensity with your love. You’ll explore the depths of your connection in a deeply satisfying way.

  • Gemini Horoscope May 21 – Jun 20

After Wednesday your relationship with your partner may experience noticeable improvements. Venus will enter your partnership sector, and until January 23 you and your love will both agree that harmony and happiness are more important than sweating the small stuff. You’ll make it a point not to allow anything to drive a wedge between you. If you’re dating someone, it’s possible that you and your lover will decide to make a stronger commitment to each other now. It’s all good!

  • Cancer Horoscope Jun 21 – Jul 22

On Tuesday, don’t engage your partner in any heated conversation about a domestic matter. Tempers may flare and words might hurt much more than either of you intend. If single, after Wednesday you might meet someone special at your gym, while waiting for a doctor’s appointment, or even at the office. If attached, expect to spend more time with your sweetheart paying attention to health. Your sex life may improve after Sunday — until March 5 your libido will surely intensify.

  • Leo Horoscope Jul 23 – Aug 22

If you’re single and looking for love, Leo, you’re in luck. This Wednesday Venus will enter your romance sector and will remain in this part of your chart until January 23. Put forth some effort and the universe is ready to reward you with love. Get off your couch and attend more social events. Someone with the power to capture your heart may be closer than you think. If you’re in a relationship, after Sunday communication between you and your mate improves.

  • Virgo Horoscope Aug 23 – Sep 22

An argument between you and your sweetheart is possible on Tuesday. If this happens, it’ll most likely be about money. Recognize if the conversation becomes too heated and if so, decide to put a pin in it until the both of you calm down. Fortunately, a relative might act as a mediator for the two of you after Wednesday, so this tension won’t last long. Another possibility is that you and your lover will begin the process of moving in together.

  • Libra Horoscope Sep 23 – Oct 22

Are you single and hoping to meet someone special? After Wednesday you might consider allowing one of your siblings to set you up on a date with someone he or she thinks would be an ideal match for you. Another possibility is that you’ll meet someone right in your own backyard. A sexy someone might move on your block or in your apartment building. Be a friendly neighbor and introduce yourself; it might lead to something special.

  • Scorpio Horoscope Oct 23 – Nov 21

Don’t allow a sibling’s input about your love life frustrate you. Try not to engage in any defensive dialogue if your brother or sister puts their nose where it doesn’t belong. It’s not worth the aggravation. After Wednesday, if you’re in a relationship, you’ll feel much more validated and appreciated by your mate. Expect this trend to continue through January 23. On Sunday Mars enters your sign, and your intensity and sex appeal will be off the charts!

  • Sagittarius Horoscope Nov 22 – Dec 21

Once Venus enters your sign this Wednesday, you’ll look and feel more beautiful than you have in quite some time. Because you’ll give off a vibe of enhanced confidence and exuberance, you can expect to attract more romantic interest your way. This trend will continue until January 23, so make the most of it! If you’re already in a relationship you might feel more connected to your partner now. He or she will surely appreciate you.

  • Capricorn Horoscope Dec 22 – Jan 19

Romance may become more of a private affair this week. Starting Wednesday and until January 23, Venus will move through the most hidden area of your chart – your 12th house. As a result, you’re likely to want to keep your lover to yourself as much as possible. Instead of parties and other social gatherings, you might prefer to snuggle up together alone in the privacy of your own home. Or, you might consider a couple’s retreat in order to recharge your spiritual batteries together.

  • Aquarius Horoscope Jan 20 – Feb 18

In your world of must-haves connected to love and romance, you absolutely must be friends with your partner. In fact, you prefer your partner to be your best friend. Happily, this week you’re likely to feel as if your mate fits that description perfectly. If you’re single it’s possible that you and a friend will decide to explore that undeniable chemistry you share together. Go for it! Another possibility is that a friend will offer to set you up with someone. Say yes.

DAILY MAGICKAL APPLICATIONS FOR MONDAY

DAILY MAGICKAL APPLICATIONS FOR MONDAY

Monday is named after the moon. The Latin term for Monday is Dies Lunae (“moon’s day”); in the Old English language, this day was Monandaeg; in Greek, it was Hermera Selenes. All of these different names and languages translate to the same thing: the “day of the moon.”

Working with the different phases of the moon is an important skill that takes a bit of time for Witches to learn. So why not cut to the chase and experiment with the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon in all of its magickal energies and aspects?

Magickally, Monday encourages the lunar energies of inspiration, illusion, prophetic dreams, emotions, psychic abilities, travel, women’s mysteries, and fertility.

Let’s Talk Witch – Who Can Do Magick?

Winter Images

Who Can Do Magick?

In most traditional societies, Witchcraft was the prerogative of a trained professional – Shaman, Medicine Man, Medicine Woman, Witch Doctor, Cunning Man, Wise Woman, Witch. These professional practitioners often inherited their ‘businesses’ from a mother or father. In some societies, they were people who had undergone a special spiritual crisis. They were chosen by the Gods and set apart. Their paths were for the chosen few and were not always thought desirable callings. Most people do not want to be set apart from their fellows by strangeness or by the ability to enter other worlds.

Traditional Witches often hold the view that Witches are born, not made. A contrasting attitude was that of magician Aleister Crowley. ‘Magick is for all,’ he wrote at the beginning of the twentieth century, ‘the Banker, the Pugilist, the Biologist, the Poet, the Navy, the Grocer, the Factory Girl, the Mathematician, the Stenographer, the Golfer, the Wife, the Consul – and all the rest – to fulfil themselves perfectly, each in his or her own proper function.” In modern times, attitudes amongst Witches have changed. This is why old Craft teachers started to bring outsiders into their traditions; not to be ‘professional Witches’ but to learn to integrate the magical arts into their everyday lives.

People often come into Wicca saying, ‘I’d like to be a Witch but I don’t know if I’d be any good at magic.’ Most Witches are better at some aspects of Wicca than others. It may be creating high magic ritual; it may be spellcraft or divination; it may be herb lore; it may be a deep spiritual love of the Gods. However, we can all develop some magical skills.

Many books about magic suggest that you must believe before you practice. This is not my experience. Magic can be approached in the same way as anything from acupuncture to riding a bicycle. Try it and see if it works. What is important is not unshakeable belief, but open-mindedness. If we decide we cannot do something or it will not work, then of course it will not. We will set up a resistance. It is a bit like fire walking. Providing we do it calmly and without fear, we will not burn ourselves. If we panic or do not believe in ourselves, we may fail.

Self-belief is an important aspect of Wicca. This does not mean we have to believe we are the greatest Witches in the universe. It does mean that we must believe it is permissible for nice things to happen to us. In our unstable society, many people have family backgrounds that leave them with feelings of low self-esteem. They feel unloved, unworthy and deserving only the worst. If we have these negative attitudes, then it is difficult to believe that our own magical energy can change our lives. To begin to feel empowered, we must start making small improvements in our lives. Having the will to do even the smallest thing to make our lives better will give us self-confidence and self-belief. Decorate a room that has always been drab. Go through your wardrobe and throwaway all the clothes that you never wear and which you know do not suit you. Wash the car, tidy the house, give yourself a treat – not a chocolate doughnut but something worthwhile – a trip to the countryside, a day off. Plant something beautiful, have a massage, go for a swim; anything that gives you enjoyment and is good for you. This may seem a strange way to begin magic, but these simple actions are ways of sending messages to our unconscious minds that we are worthy people, worthy of love. We can then allow magic to enter our lives.

Our attitude to magic must be similar to that required for spiritual healing. ‘Faith’ healing requires that the patient believes in the healer and his or her world view, religion, system, etc. Spiritual healing needs only that the patient be open to something happening. Interestingly, people often prefer to believe that nothing is happening, even when it is. In my spiritual healing practice, I have treated many a reluctant husband dragged along by his wife who was fed up of his complaints about a chronic illness. Having sat with gritted teeth for half an hour, swearing that nothing was happening, the husband would disappear, only to reappear again the next week for a follow-up session – this time alone. When asked if there had been any improvement, I would get a reluctant, ‘Well, a bit.’ It was always, ‘Well a bit’, until they stopped coming because they were cured.

Celebrating Folklore, Legends & Spirituality 365 Days a Year for December 28th & 29th – Holy Innocents’ Day, Feast of Fools

Winter Images

December 28th & 29th

Holy Innocents’ Day, Feast of Fools

Holy Innocents’ Day is the third day of Christmas and considered to be the unluckiest days of the year. It is held that on this day all children under 2 years of age were slaughtered by Herod in an attempt to eliminate the Infant Jesus–the predicted king of the Jews. The star is associated with this day, and the Innocents are the patrons of all children and foundlings.

A popular holiday during the Middle Ages, the “Feast of Fools” captured the light-hearted spirit of Saturnalia. On this day, roles were reversed, masters waited on their servants, and the often-puritanical reverence of the Christmas season was replaced with frivolity and pleasure.

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Winter Images

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Monday

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise. Get this information from your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac.

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for December 26th

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

All things in sequence, first the bud and then the flower. We can no more hold back the blossom than we can the daylight. It is inevitably there, beautifully delicate and subject to crushing. Only through very careful tending will it withstand the winds and rain and pressures of the outside.

Sequence is the order of human life. God intended us to unfold as the flower: first the seed in the fertile soil, the birth, the growth, the learning, the discoveries, the knowledge, the desires, the fulfillment as each phase of life follows its own sequence. We hold back the flowering of life only if we want it to be nonexistent, for it must progress. And in some of the most tender spots progression must be slow, easy, and reverently handled, for it can be as fragile as the flower.

There is within us a delicacy of thought which entwines itself throughout our beings, crossing from phase to phase, creating within us conflicts not easily understood. Something out of sequence in one phase may postpone the flowering of another phase. The very roots of our souls must be watered with reverence to successfully follow the sequence of life. If no other human understands or cares to understand, if we do, then continue – first the bud and then the flower.

Of all the intricate and complicated creations in the world, humanity occupies the first place. Our lives are made up of such flexuous combination of body, soul, and spirit that we do not even understand ourselves.

We all desire to know what makes us tick and how to go about making ourselves tick better. Whether we realize it or not, we are in search of the truth of our own being. Why are we here? What step should we take next? One problem after another, question after question brings us to this place again and again.

They are our personal problems and the wisest of persons cannot give us the answers. We will always need help to encourage us in our search but we must go within ourselves to cure, to live, to feel, to believe.

We must win our own hearts before we can find happiness with others. We must know what we want and be willing to share it with others, for it is written that life is made up, not of great sacrifices or duties, but of little things, in which smiles and kindnesses win and preserve the heart.

English divine John Mason wrote these words, “By these things examine thyself. By whose rules am I acting; in whose name; in whose strength; in whose glory? What faith, humility, self-denial and love of God and to man have there been in all my actions?”

“The way of knowledge is like our old way of hunting. You begin with a mere trail — a footprint. If you follow that faithfully, it may lead you to a clearer train – a track – a road. Later on there will be many tracks, crossing and diverging one from the other. Then you must be careful, for success lies in the choice of the right road.”

An entire apple tree is initially contained in the seed. Visions are initially contained in the idea. If you trace the path of a blooming flower backwards, it goes from the blooming flower back to a bud, back to a stem, back to a seed. So it is in the way of knowledge. Often we will experience a hunch or a feeling that we are supposed to do something. At first it may not make any sense. This is the seed stage. Once we start to investigate, more gets revealed. As more is revealed, the more knowledge we get. This is the way the Great Spirit guides us.

Great Spirit, help me to choose the right choices.

December 26 – Daily Feast

December 26 – Daily Feast

Early winter mornings have a special quality, a clarity where long thin shadows and ice crystals in emerald and topaz lie on the grasses. With the exception of a chortling blue jay there is little noise – as though everything bedded down last night and it reluctant to come out. A red tail hawk in search of breakfast rides the air currents far overhead where it can spot anything moving. It is strange that nature pays so little attention to what we think is beautiful in their domain – but it is equally strange that we are so oblivious to the supernatural that waits on us to recognize it.

~ The Great Spirit is our fathers, but the earth is our mother. She nourishes us, and what we put into the ground, she returns to us. ~
