ANALYSIS: Heimdall is an interesting and mysterious figure in Norse mythology, and I associate him with the rune algiz because of his role as protector and guardian. He is the watcher at the gate who guards the boundaries between the worlds and who charges all entering and leaving with caution. He is best known for his famous horn, but his sword is also important in the consideration of rune. Snorri mentions that the poetic name for a sword is ‘Heimdall’s head’, and the poetic name for a head is ‘Heimdall’s sword’. This is particularly significant if we consider that one form of his name was ‘Heimdali’, meaning ‘ram’. Through the image of the ram,Heimdall’s sword and his horn can be seen as two different sides of the same image. Both the sword and the horns (or the elks antlers) are symbols of power that may be used for either offence or defence, depending on the situation.
In terms of the journey, we have passed through death and rebirth, and must now face the Guardian before returning to our world. It is he who charges us to use our new-found power wisely. Men and women of every race and culture commiserate with the phase of life we like to call the “midlife crisis.” Believe it or not, there are key astrological cycles we’ll go through during our early 40s that help us move toward a level of individuation we simply could not have achieved until these years. That is, if they don’t drive us crazy first.
ut I’ll be honest and admit that up until very recently I didn’t pay much attention to these Astrology cycles. I was a “young” astrologer, and, well … I just didn’t care. Even though I had clients going through the midlife years I simply couldn’t relate to this generation the same way I could to the 20- and 30-somethings. I was young and cavalier. Maybe a part of me didn’t think those transits could really happen to me one day.
Ha. The universe always has the last laugh.
This May I’ll turn 39. Trust me, my attitude has changed. No longer can I deny the stubborn grey hairs assaulting my long, curly mane. No longer can I ignore the under-eye circles and laugh lines etched across my eyes. Thank goodness for friendly camera lighting when I film those videos! Losing weight used to be a matter of exercising more. These days, if I don’t avoid wine and chocolate like the plague and live at the gym, I’ll have no hope of getting back into my “skinny jeans.”
Suddenly, I’m living through midlife transits and it’s different now. It’s real.
It all begins with the Pluto square
Your midlife crisis peaks at around age 40-42, when we all experience the famous Uranus opposition. More on that in a minute, but first let me introduce you to the transit that opens wide the door to midlife for us — kind of like the grim reaper. You know, I must be talking about a Pluto transit and it happens to be called the Pluto square.
For each of us, between the ages of 36-42 (depending on the year you were born), transiting Pluto in the sky will make a square to your natal Pluto placement. This transit forces us to confront what is no longer working in our life. What has died … or is about to die.
Youth as we know it dies at this time while midlife is born. There’s just no denying it — our bodies and lives are rich with maturity and responsibility now. We’re raising kids, building our careers and often in significant relationship transition. There is major internal pressure during the Pluto square to recognize where in your life there is stagnation. If you refuse to change it, the Pluto square makes that area of your life shatter.
Don’t be afraid of it, though: the Pluto square might lead to a symbolic death of life the way we knew it, but you can be certain that it also paves the way for an important new beginning.
During my Pluto square I was going through a divorce and simultaneously building my Astrology career. Loss was certainly everywhere, but now that I’m past the Pluto square I can say without a doubt that the “death” needed to happen in order for me to turn the page in the book of my personal life and begin this next exciting chapter. And so it is with everyone who goes through a Pluto square.
Next up is the Neptune square
Your Neptune square happens at around age 40, and it has a lot to do with a shift in spiritual values — even a sense of confusion about where you are. If you’ve ignored the Neptunian part of life, this time might coincide with a spiritual quest.
If you do this midlife cycle wrong, you might drink too much or practice another unhealthy escapist behavior. You might take stock of your achievements up until now and feel like they’re worthless. A sense of disappointment is possible, and ultimately this will prompt you towards questioning your life and purpose in a deeper way. Ultimately, you will be spiritualized.
Your midlife crisis peaks with the Uranus opposition
Soon after — or around the same time — the famous Uranus opposition happens. THIS is when our world turns upside down. At around age 40-42, transiting Uranus will oppose natal Uranus and we realize that half of our life is behind us and the other half is still ahead. This is a major personal awakening that often results in a restless energy that needs to be externalized. We recognize with a sense of urgency that we only have one more chance at making our lives into what we really want it to be.
THIS is when middle-aged married men buy the red sports car and have an affair with a 25-year-old. This is when the homemaker decides to go back to college, unsettling everyone in her family. This is when the confirmed bachelor gets married and the couple you thought would be together forever announce their divorce.
We’re not old, but we’re no longer young, and this realization leads to a major life assessment. It’s time to either meet or revamp the goals we set when we were in our 20s. This is the cycle we truly individuate and begin to live life on our own terms. Hopefully, we can accomplish this without a rebellious outburst, but it’s usually part of the package. One thing is certain: After this cycle, life is forever changed.
Your Saturn opposition is a reality check
Then, at around age 44 or so, we experience the Saturn opposition, when transiting Saturn opposes natal Saturn. This is when we get a major reality check and need to face the consequences of the choices we made during our Uranus opposition. Remember, this transit will happen after the Uranus opposition and you WILL somehow “pay the piper” if you acted too recklessly during your midlife tantrum.
I haven’t experienced the Neptune square, Uranus opposition or Saturn opposition yet, but I do admit that after living through the Pluto square I am now taking these impending midlife transits very seriously.

Greetings Divine Friends,
The Equinox alignment approaches and you are already feeling the immense possibilities of this energy. Your Divine Self is already facilitating your divine unfolding, in accord with these energies, making use of all that is beneficial for you. Today we share a status update with you, reflecting on Life on Earth as we see it.
First, take a moment now and let yourself orient within to all that you are. Let yourself relax. Close your eyes for a moment and telepathically call upon your Divine Self, the fullness of your being. Invite your Divine Self to be with you as you read this message. Ask your Divine Self to give you a clear and strong sense of inner knowing, letting what is true for you, ring out and strengthen your sense of self and clarity.
The time is unfolding for those of you awakening on Earth when you will live increasingly in accord with the higher realms of your being. This promise of ascension is being furthered by your awakening and your lineage participating with your invitation and attention, in your embodied evolution.
The light that is you knows how to do all of this and is further supported by the planetary Logos — the Buddha, and his cohorts in supporting Earth, the Gautama Buddha, and Sanat Kumara. These benevolent fields of loving energy are devoted to Earth’s return to Oneness and with this allegiance, they continually emanate waves of expanding and enlightening energies to Earth. These transmissions are circulated in the crystalline Earth grid and available via collective consciousness as they are grounded in human energy systems. You can further expand the access of these liberating energies by consciously connecting with the planetary logos and the crystalline Earth grid and intending to receive, integrate, emanate and ground the ascension transmissions.
Life on Earth is accelerating. It is accelerating because the frequency fields of the planet and more and more human beings are increasing. As you build your capacity to hold and emanate more light, you enlarge the potential for life on Earth.
The Divine Self that is the Source of your being here is guiding this entire process. More and more of you have awoken and grown in self-love and so with this, you are more and more aware of the immense value of your expanded self. This shift in self-love that is taking place as more and more people value and cherish their ability to love themselves is a pivotal change. This change in the way you and many others are relating to themselves — with more love — is making the possibilities for expanded consciousness in human form, a reality.
Life on Earth is also expanding. This means that the energy fields of each being are taking up more space. Isn’t that interesting? The sense of Oneness is becoming more available to you as more people are allowing their energy field to expand and in essence, open up. We’re not speaking here of releasing your sovereign, concentrated presence; we’re speaking here to the quality of a human energy field when one is becoming more love-filled. As one becomes more love-filled the quality of this unconditional presence eliminates ideas of safety or protection, fear or need to push others away. With this increasing confidence in one’s inner connection, humans are recovering their capacity to be sovereignly present and open. This is a big shift in your world.
Life on Earth is meant to be experienced as free and with a tremendous sense of adventure. You came here knowing that you would encounter great diversity and that you would be endowed with vast liberties. As you reclaim your inner connection, you learn how to give yourself permission to live with more freedom.
There is tremendous freedom available in your world, and yet most of you have not experienced this. It is your inner ideas and beliefs that have interfered with your capacity to enjoy this freedom. We are overjoyed to witness the release of these limiting ideas and the replacement of them, with more positive and even unlimited thought-forms.
Many of you still have memories within you of the immense love and light you have experienced in higher dimensional experiences and from childhood when these other aspects within the hierarchy of your own consciousness were still accessible. These memories are beginning to return. There is a sense of reconnection occurring between your early life on Earth and your current presence. This is a powerful establishing of your own flow. It is a unifying of your own energy field that is facilitated by your Divine Self and by your expansion.
You are increasingly inclusive and increasingly learning to be unconditional in relationship to your past. You are here to transform the lineage from which your physical form was created and this is beginning to occur as more and more of you are clearing limiting beliefs and seeing the way they ripple throughout your family lineage. As you love yourself, you are transmitting compassion, kindness and loving energy throughout your family lineage. This is revising past points of focus in Earth’s collective timelines and with this resolution Earth’s ascension progress is further accelerating.
As you can tell from what we are sharing, there is great momentum here and all is well. Life on Earth is exquisite, and it is becoming increasingly magnificent. Kudos to those of you orienting to the emerging expressions that demonstrate the truth of your being and the beauty of your inner knowing. You are furthering the life on the leading edge that will expand possibilities for Earth and human beings now and in the future.
During this potent cycle of Eclipses and the Equinox, we invite you to work closely, regularly and with great openness and trust, with your Divine Self. Stay in a state of receptivity and peace. Smooth out any challenging emotions and remind yourself of the temporary nature of things. Any discomfort can be eased by your attitude. How you approach and view your experiences as you well know, is significant. Choose to empower your exploration of the potentials in play, with an elevated, positive mindset, as much as possible.
Lastly, and most importantly, regardless of how life has been for you up until now and even if you are experiencing a lot of wonderful things, choose more good things. Choose and draw to you mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually — all that you wish to experience. Generate a sense of capacity around your ability to imagine and create. Practice this until it feels natural. Practice turning inward and feeling good. Practice thinking about what you want to experience and what you love and what you find beautiful and what you want to receive and feeling your way into alignment with it all.
You are a powerful and amazing being.
All you need is available to you. The world around you is filled with love and knowing in response to your presence. Make yourself available to this level of experience and you will light up with love.
Acknowledge all you have created and received with love. Cultivate feelings of self-appreciation and know as you love yourself you will be able to love all that is.

And if you can’t actually DO something in the direction of your goals today, take the time to meditate and connect to your plan mentally.
This energy is a tough, yet powerful one. It’s Highest expression would be to focus on your inner discovery and development. It enables you to look beneath the surface to some core drives and gain some valuable insights and thus, choose a plan of action based on your discovery. You will want to know all the hidden meanings behind decisions you’ve made or want to make soon. This is the energy of action being restricted and the anger that follows. You can either be angry and feel restricted and limited and unable to move … or you can see this energy as an opportunity to define the right actions to take and strategically plan to take them when the Universe is more supportive. This energy requires us to slow down and double check The Plan. If you proceed consciously, your plan has a better chance of success than if you were reckless and impatient. You may experience a blockage of some sort, internal or external. You feel this tremendous urge to move forward in your life but seem to find blockages and limitations with every effort. That is likely your perception, do you feel inadequate to the task at hand? What are you afraid of? Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real – release fear and choose to be responsible for creating your life. If you don’t, your outer circumstance is only becomes a reflection of your inner belief. You will attract criticism and repel support. Take your grand vision and figure out three small steps you can take on this restricted level that is still taking you in the direction of your goal. Don’t try to initiate at this time, this is a time for cultivating, planning, working behind the scenes, doing the detail work and foundational (grunt work) that is NECESSARY to support the grand vision when the time comes to fully express it.
The Wheel of Fortune represents that aspect of life that is directed by forces and events we may not understand or even be aware of.
