Your Horoscopes for Sunday, April 6th

We have another chance to break away from emotional attachments that prevent us from living fully in the current moment. Intense feelings linger but we don’t have to share everything. Although we’re ready for nearly anything that comes along now, the cautious Cancer Moon challenges us to remain sensitive to our past as we step into the future. However, finding emotional security is nearly impossible because the Moon creates three tricky aspects.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Everything seems to be happening so fast now that you don’t even have time to think about what you’re going to do; you simply do it. You barely complete a conversation or finish a project before something new comes at you from another direction. Fortunately, you are a master at thinking on your feet and reacting quickly. No particular planning is necessary today; you can always make adjustments later on. Give yourself permission to embrace the spontaneity of the moment.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You’re resistant to participating in a group event now because you don’t want to relinquish your sense of control over your day. Although you might be able to muster up enough energy to slip by unnoticed, others may perceive you as lazy because they don’t feel your enthusiasm. However, limiting most of your activity to the non-physical world of emotional fantasy isn’t a waste of time since today’s dreams can turn into tomorrow’s reality.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

You may be quite excited about what’s ahead but something is simultaneously anchoring you to the past. Ironically, the future might even feel more real than the present moment. Unfortunately, it’s probably harder than you think to execute your plans today. Instead of trying to manage all the variables, take a radical approach and just let go of control for a while. Floating on the waves without resistance is more productive now than struggling to maintain your current direction.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

You could be feeling stressed today, especially if your friends expect you to be a team player and you want to relax. Even if you spend much of the day at home, it’s challenging to take your mind completely off unsettling dynamics at work or in your community. Thankfully, you don’t have to resolve the tension immediately. Instead, allow your feelings to ebb and flow with your own emotional tides, putting off significant decisions until the pressure subsides.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Expressing your feelings is not as simple as it sounds today. Even if you try to share what’s on your mind, language falls short of communicating your experience. Although anger from an old emotional wound may linger, it’s hard to stay in a negative place for very long now because of all the possibilities you see waiting on the horizon. Instead of talking about your dilemma, improve your life one positive step at a time. Actions speak louder than words.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Typically, your top priority is putting all your facts in order rather than exploring your feelings about a complex situation. However, you can push through old emotional limitations and into new territory today because you want the most intense experience you can find. Your impulsive behavior might surprise your friends because you usually adopt a more cautious approach. Acknowledge your desires even if you’re afraid of being judged. Don’t let this special opportunity to create positive change slip through your fingers.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

Improving relationship dynamics takes some extra effort now because it’s difficult to rein in your thoughts and feelings. Nevertheless, it’s a smart strategy to try to open the lines of communication anyhow. Be careful; if you are a procrastinator, you may have to contend with someone who has a very different idea of what you should be doing today. Nevertheless, don’t worry too much about other people’s expectations. Do what you can to keep the energy flowing, but take care of yourself, too, even if it means doing nothing at all.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You are willing to freely express your feelings today because you’re not so worried about receiving a harsh reaction from anyone else. You might even get an adrenaline rush from stepping over the edge of acceptability, if only for the shock value. However, revealing your quirkiness is safer now because you are so focused on whatever work needs to be done. It’s easier to get away with being weird when you are also highly efficient.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

You may appear overly enthusiastic today because you throw yourself wholeheartedly into nearly everything you do. Others have a hard time keeping up with you as you race around fulfilling your current obligations. Ironically, you still might feel as if you’re running out of time even though you’re on a creative roll now. Remember that other people need to adhere to schedules, even if you’re less attached to their concept of linear time. A little sensitivity goes a long way toward establishing harmony.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Your day could offer the respite you need, though it still may be challenging for you to sit back and fully enjoy it. A hectic day on the home front magnifies your desire for some peace and quiet, but you might be bored by the time you finally get it. Remember, there’s no reason to create additional drama where none previously existed. Your attitude can make all the difference in the world; finding your center enables you to grab moments of calm even in the midst of chaos

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

You might experience an intellectual breakthrough today. You could learn something new from a close friend that helps you understand how much others value your contributions now. But rather than resting on your laurels and basking in the warmth of the compliments, you’re already eager for the next project. It’s admirable to pursue your ambitions so passionately, but first take time to celebrate your previous accomplishments.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

The real world may not seem very important now as you entertain your fantasies. Fortunately, your daydreaming might turn into quite a spiritual journey if you are ready to minimize your attachment to material needs. Nevertheless, no matter how this kind of inter-dimensional thinking plays itself out, financial concerns could bring you crashing back down to earth today. Attend to your commitments with the same urgency that you give your dreams so you can return to your creative pursuits as soon as possible.

Current Moon Phase for April 6th – Waxing Crescent

Crescent Moon

(waxing/46% of illumination)

During this Moon phase, there is a slight slowing down of enthusiasm due to an emerging desire to produce tangible results from the energy being expended. The issue of values enters into the equation and an urge to tie together the data available so that you can utilize current opportunities. There is still plenty of forward motion, and this is a great time to continue initiating and progressing forward. This Moon phase favors gaining more information and the input of others to further your plans.

Let’s Talk Witch – Magickal Inks

Many spells involve a written component. Once upon a time, magicians chose their ink carefully depending upon the purpose of the spell, in the manner that someone today might choose a candle or condition oil. Some magicians still do. The most popular magickal inks used in Western magick tend to be named after the blood of various creatures. They are marketed commercially and are readily available through occult sources. However, in many cases what is purchased is nothing more than plain ink with a label bearing a catchy title.

A long history exists of using animal names as a code for various plant substances. Among the reasons for this practice was the desire to maintain secret formulas. Unfortunately, when the formulas are obtained without understanding or even knowing of the existence of the code, all sorts of misunderstanding and tragedy follow. While some complain that modern manufactured “blood” inks no longer contain the herbal formulas, others claim that the formulas actually demand blood, the only way to produce “true” dover’s blood ink, for instance, being to slit the throat of a dove. This is untrue. Dove’s blood ink is frequently used to write love spells. Doves are sacred to Aphrodite, Genius of Love. Do you think that, having done very bad things to her bird, she will look kindly on your petition? The only blood typically called for in magick spells maybe your own, and even that requires no more than a few drops from a finger.

Formulas are frequently very similar. The red color typically derives from the resin dragon’s blood, a powerful magickal agent. Even if a formula doesn’t specifically call for it, it is extremely likely that adding gum Arabica or gum tragacanth to the mix will be necessary in order to make the ink thick enough to be functional. Typically one-quarter to one-half teaspoon is needed.

If mixing inks from scratch is forbidding, a simple yet magickally charged method of creating the various “Blood” inks is to add the appropriate essential oils and resins to plain red ink.

Celebrating Other Spirituality 365 Days A Year – Boat Festival/Tater Day

April 6 and 7

Boat Festival/Tater Day

The annual boat festival held in France celebrates the return of Springtime. Children make miniature boats with candles in them that symbolize the joy of sailing on the “seas of life.” At the end of the day, a great procession ends at the Rhine, where the boats are cast onto the water as everyone makes their wish for the coming Summer months.

Batats (sweet potatoes), brought to the New World by Christopher Columbus, became a dietary staple and one of the primary crops grown in the southern United states, where they are as rampant as the kudzu vine. The small tuber is rich in vitamin A and mainly grown for human consumption in the form of alcohol, flour and starch.
Originally a market where potato slips for Spring planting were sold, Tater Day has been revived as a county fair In Benton, Kentucky, Sweet Potato Day comes complete with a beauty pageant, horse races, carnival games and a flea market. Celebrated since 1843, Tater Day is one of the oldest trade days in the United States.

*Personally note, Benton, Kentucky is about 75 miles away from me. Until here recently, Tater Day was celebrate on April 1st, April Fool’s Day. High school kids and everyone else flocked to Benton. But the Tater Day celebrated there has nothing to do with Sweet Potatoes. It celebrates the good old Irish tater. Now they have moved the celebration from the first to the fourth, fifth and sixth of April. They are trying to get back to the original date Tater Day was first celebrated.*

A Glorious Sunday Morning To All My Family & Friends!

Good Morning Images
I apologize for running late. I didn’t sleep in or anything like that. In fact, I have been on the internet since 7:30 this morning. I had plans on getting the postings done early and then cleaning house. But instead I have been wandering the internet cooling off.

You see, I got a little upset this morning. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that. But I sort of took some comments personally, which I should never do. I am a hot-head and I will be the first to admit it. I occasionally fly off the handle, I admit that too. So I needed some time to cool off. The thing that upset me is, I have been getting some criticism about a photo I posted on this site of The Morrighan. Here is the pic……..

morrighan

This photo has been described as looking like a Victorian secret model. I can guarantee you this is no Victoria secret model. It is an image of a younger Morrighan as the warrior she was known to be.  I have several more images of the Morrighan. All of them ranging from when she was very young to very old. Since the Morrighan is my Great Dark Mother, I do not see a problem with posting images of her as I see her. We all see our Gods and Goddesses differently. Who is to say what photo is right or what photo is wrong? It is up to the individual that honors that God or Goddess to portrait them as they see them. I see the Great Morrighan the way other people probably do not. She takes many forms and no one is to say that my way of seeing her is wrong. Nor will I say your way of seeing her is wrong.  All that I ask is for a little respect when I post a photo or image of one of my Goddesses.

You know this brings me back to a point of The WOTC’s past.  The very first image I posted of a witch was a young, sexy thing, I tell you. And everyone was appalled. I was appalled because they were appalled. I couldn’t image why on earth would anyone object to this pic. It was a young, sexy witch, good grief! Then I was hit with “witches have green skin and long noses with warts.” I couldn’t believe I actually heard that. Well, as you can imagine, I got off on “that was the way Hollywood and cartoons had portrayed witches.” Everyone on the site could look in the mirror and see what a real witch looked like! So why on earth, not show the world what we really look like. I know darn good and well I am not going to put up a photo of myself looking like that. Why should we, it is old stereotyping of us.

The point being, who is to say those old ugly images of our Gods and Goddesses are not also stereotyped? Our religion has been so screwed with, who knows what the Gods and Goddesses might really look like. The ones that messed with their images could have deliberately made them ugly and grotesque so they would not appeal to the masses.  Remember, those people would and still will do anything to turn us away from our Religion. Anything!

What it all boils down to, is no one actually knows for sure what any of our Gods or Goddesses looked like. We only have imagines created by some men. Who were these men? Where they Pagans? Probably not.

Last word, the Gods and Goddesses appear to us in different forms and shapes. I will respect your version of how you view the Gods/Goddesses and you respect mine. Deal?
