Elder’s Meditation of the Day – March 1

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – March 1

“The beginning is purification, that’s the first step. And purification means purification of body and mind. You don’t purify the body without cleansing the mind; that’s the way it works.”
— Rolling Thunder, CHEROKEE

If we have bad thoughts or poison in our minds, they will eventually show up in our bodies in the form of headaches, pains, and stomach problems. It works this way because we are interconnected. Our minds and our bodies are one system. So when we start to grow, or commit to the Red Road, we need to start cleaning up our thoughts and start showing respect for our bodies. We start purifying our minds by prayer and meditation, and we start cleansing our bodies by getting the right amount of sleep and developing good eating habits. Today, I’m going to observe my thoughts. Will my thoughts be clean today?

Great Spirit, let me focus on Your love today so my mind will be pure.

Employing Presence- Daily Om

Employing Presence
Being Present At Work

Bringing your presence into your work activities can fill the entire experience of working with new energy and life.

Being present at work begins before we even go to our place of employment. It starts with our intention to bring consciousness into everything we do, including those activities we do for money. Whether you are a secretary who files papers all day, a janitor who cleans the local high school, or a nurse caring for children, there is much to be gained by fully engaging in the tasks at hand. When you decide to bring your presence into your work activities, you may find that the entire experience of working is filled with new energy and life.

Sometimes we believe that when we step through the doors of our workplace, we cease being ourselves and start being someone else’s employee. Though our employer may depend on us to perform certain tasks, the truth is that we never stop being ourselves. The commitment to being a conscious, empowered person of integrity doesn’t stop and start with a time clock. Our decision to be present for our own lives is what weaves together all of our experiences from the moment we wake up, throughout our entire workday, and to the moment we turn off the lights at night.

Before leaving for work today, you can clear your energy and choose to step out with your best foot forward. Setting an intention in the morning can even help you stay present as your day unfolds. You might decide to find joy in every activity, complete all of your projects on time, or be truly helpful to your coworkers. By being fully present, you will begin to radiate and people may begin to notice; they may even want to follow your lead. Whether you run a company or hold a sign outside a deli, do it with pride and be the best you can be.

Runecast for Tuesday March 1

Today we have Perthro of Heimdall’s Aett Perthro pronounced “perth-row” (P: Lot cup or vagina) Uncertain meaning, a secret matter, a mystery, hidden things and occult abilities. Initiation, knowledge of one’s destiny, knowledge of future matters, determining the future or your path. Pertaining to things feminine, feminine mysteries including female fertility, and vagina. Good lot, fellowship and joy. Evolutionary change.

Ripples on the water show the deep place. The appearance of something hidden. Look for the roots of events. You may be surprised at the way some of the events in your life are shaping up, especially if someone is paying you special attention, or you have recently benefited financially. This rune reminds us that not all of our life is self-evident and on the surface. There is a deep, hidden process taking place which shows itself only indirectly, in odd little ways. You will overlook something important now if you are not attentive to small details and the subtle ways in which things can be revealed. So try to guess what is going on beneath surface appearances. For example, if someone gives you a present, or on the other hand, is rude and offensive, perhaps they are secretly in love with you. However, at the same time, be cautious now with your own hidden motives because others may catch on to them without you realizing it.

Perthro Reversed or Merkstave: Addiction, stagnation, loneliness, malaise. (Note: the reversed or merkstave definitions are included only for reference as they apply to a multi-rune cast and not to a single rune that’s drawn blind from the pouch)

As with all, take only what feels right to you and disregard the rest.

Healing Crystals Newsletter – Crystals for Cancer Support

February 2011 Newsletter

Here in Virginia we have seen the first signs that Spring is just around the corner, with a couple of warmer spring-like days of weather, bulbs sprouting from gardens and a hint of green appearing on trees.  It is always good to see the change of energy associated with the seasons!  Crystals such as Topaz, Apatite and Calcite will help breathe new life into old, stagnant energy.

Starting on Monday the 7th of March, 7:30pm EST, we will bring a new regular feature to our CrystalTalk line-up!  We are excited to begin Healing Circle Chats, giving guests the opportunity to both share and receive healing energy.  Please feel free to Contact Us for more information!

For this month’s newsletter article, we offer some information on Crystals for Cancer support.  I pray that you will never have need to use your Crystals for this purpose, but want to offer the information in the hope that Crystals may offer support for your journey through such a difficult time as Cancer treatment and recovery.
Crystal Blessings,

Shawn Adler,

Now, on to our newsletter …

Crystals for Cancer Support

It probably goes without saying that no crystal should be used in lieu of the sound, professional advice of a physician. That said, there are any number of crystals that can be used to alleviate some of the side effects, pain or illness that can accompany cancer symptoms. There are even those crystals that can reduce that sense of unimaginable fear that almost always seems to take over at the first utterance of that word, “cancer”. Also, bear in mind that there is no right or wrong way to use these stones. If you don’t feel comfortable using them on the chakras, perhaps you’d rather wear them or carry them in a pocket or purse. Simply putting a crystal on a part of the body that is in pain can make a wealth of difference.

The list of crystals commonly associated with cancer support is by no means exhaustive. Different types of cancer may be helped by crystals associated with the part of the body affected with that type of cancer. For example, bone cancers may benefit from crystals such as Calcite (yellow) or Azurite, while Leukemia (affecting the blood) can be helped with the aide of Indian Bloodstone or Hematite. So, do some research and add other crystals that help those specific areas of the body.

The crystals being discussed for this article are Rose Quartz, Sugilite, Watermelon Tourmaline, Purple Fluorite and Rhodocrosite.

Rose Quartz, a lovely pale pink crystal, is associated with the element of Earth and, since it a stone of love, the planet Venus. It can be used to “open up” the heart chakra, thus bringing a sense of peace and calm. Rose Quartz can be held when emotional stress becomes too overwhelming. Place a piece under the pillow to improve sleep. Recharging this crystal is as simple as running it under water.

Sugilite is a deep purple or violet stone that instills a sense of optimism. Acting somewhat like an electrical conductor, Sugilite directs energy to parts of the body that are blocked and removes those energy blockages. Continued illness or stress can benefit from this stone as it realigns the system. Sugilite is ruled by the Air element and the planet Jupiter. It is used on the crown chakra and can be helpful for cleansing the pituitary, adrenal and pineal glands. Recharge Sugilite by placing it in a soft cloth along with a piece of Amethyst.

Watermelon Tourmaline is an amazing dual-colored crystal consisting of an outer band of deep green surrounding a pink center, much like the fruit for which it was named. Like other tourmalines, watermelon tourmaline is piezoelectric, which means that when it is squeezed, each end becomes electrically charged. And, because it has dual energies (projective-outward-male, and receptive-inward-female), it is often worn or carried to balance these energies throughout the body. This variety of tourmaline is ruled by the elements of Water and Fire and the planets Venus and Mars. Place a piece of Watermelon Tourmaline on the heart chakra to balance out its energy. It is often used to calm fear and anxiety and increase relaxation. Recharge this crystal by placing it on a windowsill at twilight.

Purple Fluorite is a lovely translucent purple crystal that is governed by the element of Water and the planet Neptune. It rules the brow or crown chakras, thus easing headaches, bringing a more restful sleep, and clarifying thought patterns. It is often used to heal the sinuses, throat and ears. Purple Fluorite restores the body’s resistance to illness and can be especially helpful when used in conjunction with Jade (Nephrite) to bring healing support for chronic, long-term illnesses. Simply run it under water to recharge.

Rhodocrosite is another dual-colored crystal, which is a deep, rosy pink with white or paler pink banding. Ruled by Fire and the planet Mars, it is a powerful healing crystal that detoxifies the blood and liver. Rhodocrosite also brings about an air of self-confidence when you are faced with new or difficult situations. When placed over the Heart or Solar Plexus chakras, it will rebalance the nervous system. Pass the crystal through rose-scented incense to recharge and cleanse.

When dealing with cancer and the multitude of debilitating aspects, both emotional and physical, there is no right or wrong concerning which crystals to choose. Personally, I say the more the merrier. If you are overwhelmed by the choices and really have no clear direction, take pause, sit quietly and ask the Universe to guide you. Often, the stones will seek you out, either as a gift from someone or by making themselves “known” to you in a shop, etc. A piece of clear Quartz crystal will also help if that is all you have. I truly hope that this article brings some peace and a sense of relief to those who sought information. Blessings.

Crone’s Corner – Recipe for Good Health

Crone’s Corner  Recipe for Good Health

After a long winter, March is a good time to work a spell that will renew your health. As folk wisdom says:

Eat leeks in March and garlic in May;
And all the year after physicians may play.

Peel three potatoes and place them on a green cloth on your kitchen table. Consider three things you can do to improve your health. Carve on each potato symbols or words regarding your intention. Make a potato leek soup with your magical potatoes. Decorate the table in colors of green and white and a bouquet of daffodils.

Leek Soup
4 cups sliced leeks
3 cups sliced potatoes
6 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
3 T. sherry
Chives

Combine potatoes, leeks and broth and cook for 20 minutes. Liquefy in a blender. Add cream, sherry, and chives and cook an additional 5 minutes without boiling, stirring constantly.

Pagan Studies – Cure an Illness Spell

Pagan Studies   Cure an Illness Spell

The epic poem, Kalevala, is celebrated by the Finns this day with parades and readings from the poem. The Kalevala recounts a battle of wits between three wizard brothers and the witch goddess, Louhi. It is a treasure trove of ancient shamanistic practices including the following healing spell. For this ritual, stand in the east and call in the element of air. Ask in all humility for assistance. Light a blue candle and a stick of sandalwood incense as an offering to the element. Now say:

Sickness,
Vanish into the sky!
Pain, fly up into the air.
Burning vapor,
Rise up into the air!
So that the wind may take thee away.
So that the storm may chase thee to far places.
Where neither Sun nor Moon gives light.
Where no hot wind burns the flesh.

Thank the element of air, and let the candle burn down. As with all magic, in addition to this spell, it is essential that you have done everything possible in the physical realm to aid the healing.

Today’s Goddess: BONA DEA

Today’s Goddess:   BONA DEA

Matronella (Rome)

Themes: Femininity; Blessing; Fertility; Divination; Abundance
Symbols: Vines; Wine

About Bona Dea:   Bona Dea’s name literally means “good goddess.” Her energies come into our lives at the outset of this month, offering all good things, especially fertility and a greater appreciation of the goddess within each of us.

Traditionally, Bona Dea is a women’s Goddess who received offerings of wine in exchange for prophetic insights during her observances.

To Do Today: On March 1, February was escorted out of Rome with a flourish of adaptable activities. Exchange sweet gifts as the Romans did to ensure yourself of a sweeter future. Greet a friend with Bona Dea’s name to invoke her blessings on them. Put up a grapevine wreath fashioned like a heart (or other symbol of something you need), and leave a glass of wine on your altar to honor Bona Dea’s presence in your home and your life.

In Rome, female slaves would get this day off, and the head of the house would wait on them. In modern times this equates to switching roles for a day at home. Whoever normally gets up and fixes breakfast gets to sleep in, whoever normally does chores gets to go out and socialize, and so forth. Bona Dea appreciates the considerate gesture as much as you do and will rain her goodness upon your home.

Light A Candle Today!

Light A Candle Today!

In many different traditions lighting a candle is a sacred action. It expresses more than words can express. It has to do with gratefulness. From time immemorial, people have lit candles in sacred places. You may want to begin or end your day by the sacred ritual of lighting a candle on this gratefulness. Or you may want to light a birthday candle for a friend. One single guideline is all you need: Slow down and do it with full attention.

Seasons of the Witch!   Ancient Holidays (and some not so ancient!)

Live each Season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. ~Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862)

Slavic: Navii’s Day (Vjunitci) – Suhii (March) 1-4. On this first of four days, slavic pagans remember their ancestors in prayer. Today, Navii’s Day is the “Day of the Dead”. People bring sacrifices and invite their ancestors to attend their feast with them.

Rome: Feriae Marti, festival honoring Mars as God of Spring.

Rome: The sacred fire of the Temple of Vesta was rekindled by the Vestal Virgins on this day, which in ancient Roman days marked the beginning of the new year.

Greece and Rome: Matronalia was celebrated each year on or around this date in honor of Hera and Juno Lucina, protectors of women, children and the family. Statues of the Goddess were decorated with flowers, and special fires were lit. Girls made offerings to Juno Lucina at this time of year for happy and prosperous marriages.

Wales: David, Patron Saint of Wales, is honored. His emblematic plants, the leek and daffodil, represent the vigorous growth of springtime and recall the royal colors, green and white, of ancient Britain.

Hindu: Maha Shivaratri, a post-harvest festival celebrating the Lord Shiva. Devotees fast on this day, making recitations of the rudri or mahimanstrota. A big fair is held at Bhavnath in Junagadh, and farmer folk indulge themselves in its celebration zealouly.

NOTE: Because of the large number of ancient calendars, many in simultaneous use, as well as different ways of computing holy days (marked by the annual inundation, the solar year, the lunar month, the rising of key stars, and other celestial and terrestrial events), you may find these holy days celebrated a few days earlier or later at your local temple .

Lunar Lore

Lunar Lore

When Luna first her scattered fear recalls,
If with blunt horns she holds the dusky air,
Seamen and swains predict abundant showers.
            – Virgil, “Georgics.”
 …
The moon had set. There was not any light,
Save of the lonely legion’d watch-stars pale
In outer air, and what by fits made bright
Hot oleanders in a rosy vale…
 – Bulwer Lytton, “A Night in Italy.”
Soon as the evening shades prevail,
The moon takes up the wondrous tale,
And nightly to the listening earth,
Repeats the story of her birth.
  – Addison, “Spectator”. No. 465. “Ode.” St. 2

The folk of that country begin all their things in the new moon,
and they worship much the moon and the sun and often-time kneel
against them.

THINK TWICE BEFORE SPEAKING
Words contain charge. Some words present more impact. You specialize in finding those words. You can upset someone not only with what you say, but with subtle facial expressions or physical gestures. If your burning desire is to create non-adversarial relationships, this becomes the “think, think again, and one more time, before you blurt it out” time. You know you will be provocative. Provoke well-with good intent and purpose. Write letters to editors but leave your friends and lovers alone unless your comments blend criticism with compassion.

 Today Is:  Tiu’s Day

The day of Mars…also Ares, Tiwaz, Tiw (from whom it is named), Tuisco, and Tyr. Tuesday is ruled by Mars, whose Magickal  influences are: Passion, courage, aggression, and protection. Tuesday comes under the influence of Mars, the planet associated with vitality, passion, ambition, and raw, unabashed power. Mars energy makes the mind acute, and the body restless; therefore, on Tuesday we are likely to exert ourselves physically and take action to achieve goals. This day is dynamic and high-spirited, and the prevailing energies may include carelessness and destructiveness as well, so it is good to be cautious—especially while traveling. Tuesday  is the proper day of the week to perform rituals involving courage, physical strength, revenge, surgery, and the breaking of negative spells.

Tiw was a God of athletics, combat, and law.
Consider meals to improve physical well-being, encourage justice, or increase strength and strategy.

Hearth Witch Lesson: Magically Cleansing Your Home

Hearth Witch Lesson: Magically Cleansing Your Home

Author: Deborah
Before we get started on this lesson, it’s true confession time. When I am on my A game I am almost as good at cleaning my house as my mother is. Almost, if you’re not wearing your glasses and you squint a little. When I am not on my A game (which is often) , my house more closely resembles a somewhat neat college student’s house than Miss Martha’s domicile.
I am not at all on my A game right now.

We had our cat, Bellatrix, fixed and she decided to deal with her enforced croning by declaring war on my other cat, Max. This has been a riveting week of feline turf wars, howling for attention periodically through the middle of the night, full on attacks that mean to injure each other and of course “accidentally” going to the bathroom all over the house. So my couch is coverless, we’ve been too afraid to vacuum for fear of incurring another full on attack, my quilt is in the wash and we have yet to disassemble the day bed and assemble the desk we got around Christmas time for me to have a work space, as Spare Oom has been declared a demilitarized zone. As of last night we called for peace treaty negotiations by separating the two powers for the rest of the week and then we will reconvene peace treaty talks on Tuesday when Her Highness has her stitches out and is released from her Cone of Shame. Naturally, I’m also sick with a cold and have an event this weekend I’m attending as leadership . . .in Boston. So be assured, this is not a glass house I am currently residing in.

Despite (or perhaps because of) all these domestic failings, I have a pretty fast way to ritually clean my house. Generally I prefer to actually clean my house first and then ritually clean it but sometimes beggars can’t be choosers. When I can actually clean my house, I try to do a really thorough job of it. We live in a fairly small space by American standards though an average sized space by European standards. I find it really does add to the house’s well being if I donate things that are not being used anymore. Books, clothing that doesn’t fit, appliances that aren’t being used, etc. Constantly “purging” helps ensure that clutter creep doesn’t set in and we don’t end up on an episode of Hoarders. It also helps to make sure that your house is accessible to you. It’s hard to feel motivated to do much of anything if it doesn’t.

I have fibromyalgia, so it’s hard for me to crouch down to look for pots so we have a pot rack. I need my crafting supplies organized and easy to access because we only have one big hall closet, so I have the supplies organized by type (sewing, spinning, general craft supplies, etc) in banker’s boxes and I keep like materials (buttons, beads, notions, etc) in zip lock bags so I don’t have to take everything apart to find something.

Sometimes though, it’s hard to be motivated to ritually cleanse my house if it’s not physically clean. I find that if I wait too long in between ritual cleanings, I’ve noticed that I start to feel sluggish when I’m at home and our household squabbling rate goes waaaay up. When the house is ritually cleaned, I feel energized and my brain is functioning and I want to be a member of society and go out of my way to go above and beyond in my significant other duties.

You would think this would motivate me to do my cleansing routine weekly, but my generation wasn’t called a generation of slackers for nothing. Here’s a simple guideline for you on how often you should do this cleansing ritual: Weekly = Awesome, Miss Martha! More than a month = expect to be sleeping on the couch

Steps to Ritualistically Cleanse Your House

1. Crack open your windows for at least ten minutes. Even in the winter. You need to give that crappy energy that you’ve been building up some place to go, like outside your house.

2. Empty your salt bowl. If you don’t have one, you should get one. It naturally soaks up a lot of less than positive stuff floating around your house. It should be in a place that sees a lot of traffic. Mine is in the cutout in my kitchen, which looks out to my living room and front door. A salt bowl is simply a bowl with sea salt or kosher salt in it. When emptying mine, I flush all the salt down my sink and clean the bowl with soap and water. I dry it and then add fresh new salt.

3. Recharge your house wards. I am awful with any kind of shield magic. I learned on Momma Starr’s Old Style Conjure podcast that using a lemon with salt also works to keep out negative energy. I cut a lemon in half and dip each half in salt and put each half outside my front door facing each other and use it as a ward to keep people who mean me harm out of my house.

4. Recharge your continuous magic. As a writer, I definitely keep continuous money magic going to make sure money keeps coming into my house. I try to burn a candle on my money honey pot weekly with symbols or words etched into my dressed candle that work to bring in whatever kind of money I need that week (a small bit of found money, writing money, new job opportunities, savings, etc) .

5. Using your sacred broom, sweep all the negative energy from every room out your front door. My sacred broom comes from Michael’s Craft store and I have it “fixed” as Hoodoo traditions would say to cleanse my house of negative energy. This is that broom’s only job so it doesn’t get confused. It stays by my front door.

6. Smudge your house with a sage bundle to cleanse all negative influences out. Make sure to smudge closets, mirrors, TVs, computers and windows.

7. Give light and water offerings to your deities. We light up our altar last and give thanks to our gods for what we have and we enjoy how beautiful the altar looks and how good the house feels.

Eclectic Witch: I Am the World

Eclectic Witch: I Am the World

Author: Maiaduir

What does it mean to be an Eclectic Witch? This may mean many different things to many different people. However, I think that what it means to be an Eclectic Witch is this: to be at a state of oneness with the whole of Gaia, and all of her cultures and traditions.

Eclectic Witches reclaim spirituality from many sources, including their Ancestral traditions, traditions from their past lives, traditions from the land upon which they reside, traditions that they have a special connection to, and traditions that have truly made a calling to their hearts. They also realize that the whole of Gaia is our tribe, and it is beneficial to look at all traditions, cultures, variations of magick and Witchcraft, religions, and spiritualities for Awen, divine inspiration.

So now lets take a look at what it means to be an Eclectic Witch.

One source from which Eclectics may choose their traditions is from Ancestral traditions. This can mean two different things: Your genetic ancestors, whose blood you carry in your veins and arteries, or the ancestry of your soul, traditions and cultures that you were involved in during past lives. The traditions of your genetic ancestors can be a powerful thing to reclaim.

Look at the veins on your wrist and forearm, or put your hand to your chest and feel your heart pumping. Just sit for a few seconds and watch or listen to the blood flowing and pumping through your veins, through your heart. That blood that flows through your veins is a sacred mixture of blood that once pumped through the veins of your ancestors! Whether you are Asian or African, European or Hispanic, reconnect with your blood!

Reconnect with your genes, and realize that your great-great-great-great-great-grandmother or father could have been a Druid or a Stregha, a Brahmin or a Mambo, a Shaman or a Saint. Reconnect with the traditions of your ancestors, and feel the primordial life blood which flows and pumps through your veins. This is definitely a part of being and Eclectic Witch.

Another way of reclaiming your ancestry is by reclaiming the traditions of your past lives, if you know of them. If you do not know of them, then it’s a great idea to do some past life regression, as it can be a profound experience. Many Witches feel called to cultures and traditions based on past life experience with them.

If you have had a past life as a Celt or as a Sumerian, research the spiritual traditions of those cultures. It may give you a marvelous sense of homecoming, a return to what you have known before, a piece of your souls history. Research this bit of who you are as an Eclectic Witch, and reclaim your ancestors of body and soul.

Another source from which Eclectics may draw Awen from is the traditions and spiritual practices of the natives of the land upon which you live. If you are a native to the land upon which you reside, and if you have taken Paganism as your religion, then you most likely have this covered. However, most of us in the United States and Canada are not Native American. Most of us trace our bloodlines back to Europe, Africa, or Asia. These are our true homelands.

However, you have lived in America your whole life, you still have a very strong connection to the spirits of place here, especially if your family has lived here for many generations. A great way to connect to the land upon which you live is by researching and practicing the spiritual customs of the natives of the land, who really know it best. If you live in the America Southwest, for example, you might look into the customs of the Hohokam, Navajo, or Pueblo peoples. Not only will it deepen your connection to the land, but it is also fun to learn about the people who stood here many years ago. Witches strive to be at one with out land, so we should look to the practices of those who have attained oneness with it before us.

A fourth vehicle to the Divine that many Eclectic Witches draw practices from is from traditions and spiritualities that they have special connections to, and unique spiritualities that have made a calling to their hearts for seemingly unknown reason. You might be asking yourself what I mean when I say that one may be drawn to a tradition that they have “special connections” to. Like Eclecticism itself, it can mean many different things to many different people.

One might have a teacher who has been highly influenced by Hellenic Paganism, and whose matron is Artemis, and might develop a strong connection to Artemis’ energy as a result. One might have a spirit guide who is Egyptian, and therefore have a connection to Kemetic Witchcraft as a result. There are really endless reasons why someone might have a special connection to something that is not “theirs”, per say.

The last reason I will discuss here that one may feel called to a tradition is for a reason that they really cannot put their finger on. The tradition just calls to their hearts and spirits, and they follow that call because that is what the Divine tells them to do.

If you have specific interest in a tradition, or it calls to you for a reason that you really do not know, explore it! This is a sacred opportunity to broaden your spiritual worldview. It doesn’t mean that you have to give up your current beliefs. Rather, integrate them with the ones you have currently, as all traditions come from the same source, and therefore bear similarities to each other in some way, shape, or form. Do not be afraid to explore currently unknown traditions. Just let the Gods and Goddesses take you where their will is to take you, and you will always be safe within their arms, even when times are tough.

In conclusion, being an Eclectic Witch means to be at a state of oneness with the whole of the planet, and all of her traditions and spiritualities. At one time in history, Pagans worshiped the gods and spirits of where they were from, and as cultures intermingled, so did the Gods and Goddesses and the traditions and religions of the cultures, as seen in the worship of Isis in not only Egypt, but also Rome. But now we are faced with a new age of technology and advancement.

We are no longer single tribes. The whole of the world has become our tribe. Eclectic Witches realize that, in reality, we are all related. Mitakuye Oyasin, as the Native Americans say. So, realize that we are all one, and, as Witches of any and every tradition, let us act as such.

63: After Completion

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Hexagram 63

General Meaning: It is a fine irony that after completion of some project or great enterprise, there is still much left to do. Completion is merely a pause in the cycle of creation and decay, a momentary still point for the swinging pendulum of life. Though completion does imply a period of restful pause — one that usually has been well earned — it is not an actual end, but rather a uniquely harmonious flat spot in the constancy of change and movement.

The image of After Completion is that of a kettle of water boiling over a fire. When the forces are balanced, the water boils properly; but if the pot is too full, it may boil over and put out the fire; or, if the fire is too hot, it may evaporate all the water. In the equilibrium that follows the completion of something significant, the current dynamics must be watched carefully to assure that a proper balance is maintained.

After Completion is the time for fine-tuning, for refinements and embellishments of what has already been accomplished.

Even if we are enjoying a rewarding situation right now, the laws of the natural world dictate that influence and success will eventually decline. So, don’t let current good fortunes prompt careless or relaxed attitudes. A successful endeavor or partnership needs to be carefully tended and maintained. What is incomplete should be finished and brought to fruition without delay.

Take satisfaction upon completion, but do not dwell on it. To do so could bring a halt to your influence and capability.

Today’s Tarot Card for 3/1

Today’s Tarot Card for Everyone:

Triumph

This Tarot Deck: Lovers Path

General Meaning: What has traditionally been known as the World card points to the presiding intelligence, called “Sophia,” or Wisdom, which upholds life on this and all worlds. A more precise title for this card might be “the Soul of the World,” also applicable as a symbol of personal empowerment and freedom. In most Tarot decks it is a female figure that has become our standard World image. She originates in Hebrew, Gnostic and Alchemical lore, and stands between heaven and earth as the Cosmic Mother of Souls, the Wife of God and our protector from the karmic forces we have set loose upon the Earth in our immaturity and ignorance.

Where the Empress energy secures and fertilizes our terrestrial lives, the goddess of The World invites us into cosmic citizenship — once we come to realize our soul’s potential for it. Just as the Chariot stands for success in achieving a separate Self, and Temperance represents achievement of mental and moral health, the World card announces the awakening of the soul’s Immortal Being, accomplished without the necessity of dying.

This card, like the Sun, is reputed to have no negative meaning no matter where or how it appears. If the Hermetic axiom is “Know Thyself”, this image represents what becomes known when the true nature of Self is followed to creative freedom and its ultimate realization.
