Runecast for Thursday January 13

Our rune this morning is Wunjo, of Freyja’s Aett Wunjo pronounced “woon-yo” (W or V: Joy) Joy, comfort, pleasure. Fellowship, harmony, prosperity. Ecstasy, glory, spiritual reward, but also the possibility of going “over the top”. If restrained, the meaning is general success and recognition of worth.

The blacksmith, seized by his creative passion,  does not notice the heaviness of his tools. Happiness comes from absorbing work. You have drawn one of the most encouraging runes possible. It promises you success, especially in creative work which requires physical energy. It may bring practical work, rather than intellectual endeavors. As a way to handle difficulties, it suggests that you adopt a practical approach and actually do something, rather than just speak about it. The rune Wunjo also appears in any situation when you are overloaded with jobs that you’re trying to get through. You mustn’t take on yourself the responsibility for the whole world. Find what interests you most and put all your efforts into that one thing. In love and relationships, Wunjo denotes deep, mutual feelings and happiness, but it also advises you to do something definite together such as a travel or business venture.

Wunjo Reversed or Merkstave: Stultification, sorrow, strife, alienation. Delirium, intoxication, possession by higher forces, impractical enthusiasm. Raging frenzy, berzerker. (Note: the reversed or merkstave definitions are included only for reference as they apply to a multi-rune cast and not to a single rune that’s drawn blind from the pouch)

As with all, take only what feels right to you and disregard the rest.

DailyOM: Creating A Harmonious Home

Creating A Harmonious Home
A Home Of Love

Our homes can become chaotic; it is at these times that we have the power to decide to bring more love into our homes.

At their best, our homes act as our sanctuaries. They are the nests we return to for rest and nurturing nourishment before we venture out once again to spread our wings and fly. But there are times that we may feel quite differently about our homes—times when we feel surrounded by turmoil rather than harmony, or mired in chaos rather than immersed in peace. It is at these times that we have the power to decide to bring more love into our homes.

When we choose love, we are choosing to begin within. With a deep breath, we close our eyes and ask that when we open them again, we will see where we can make shifts to create greater harmony. These may be inner shifts, such as accepting others’ personality traits and working with them rather than against them. Or they may be changes we can make with items around the house–removing the ones that cause frustration and displaying things that make us feel good. Then, we reach out to the people with whom we share our homes–whether they are family members or another combination of people who share our space. We can help to shift their perceptions toward the positive by asking each person to think about their ideal living situation. After allowing some time for reflection, gathering to discuss each person’s ideas may lead to the discovery that there are conflicting concepts about what your shared home should provide. Once this information is out in the open, we have a roadmap f! or creating balance and harmony from seemingly disparate desires. Together, agreements can be made to enable all to take the steps needed to create a unified vision.

When we have consciously chosen to make our home a place of harmony, then love’s energy can expand throughout the lives of all who live there. Each person will be nurtured, allowing them to take that peace and serenity with them into the world, sharing it with whomever they may encounter; and making every space they enter a warmer and more loving place for everyone.

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for 1/13

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for Everyone:

9: Small Influences

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Hexagram 9

General Meaning: A gentle wind gathers the clouds, but still, no rain. Softer influences predominate as the power of subtle forces grows. This is a time for smooth and friendly persuasion.

In the ebb and flow of events, there are always ‘low tides’ — times when sweeping action is impossible or inappropriate, but when small matters can be attended to profitably, leading to bigger and better things later on. When the tide is rolling in, by all means, ride the wave; but when it is receding like it is now, focus on little things.

When the times are such that you cannot do much to affect large matters, persuasion and subtle influence can prepare the way for strength in the future. Use your intuition to chart your long-term course, but avoid bold actions for the moment, for they are unlikely to work. This is an excellent time to refine existing abilities or develop new talents.

Be wary of others’ intentions if they hold the upper hand in a situation. Examine their sources of power, so as to discover subtle influences you may be able to exert upon them.

Today’s Tarot Card for 1/13 is The Hanged Man

Today’s Tarot Card for Everyone:

The Hanged Man

This Tarot Deck: Lord of the Rings

General Meaning: Traditionally, the card known as the Hanged Man usually indicates a lack of ability to help oneself through independent action. This energy is arrested and awaiting judgment. With this card, there is no avenue for the will to regain control until the situation has passed.

This represents a good time to be philosophical, to study and meditate upon the position you find yourself in, and form resolutions for the moment you become free again. Only those who possess wisdom, patience and optimism will be able to see through limitations, including possible humiliation, to grasp the inspiring lesson one can gain from such an experience.

New Moon Report for 1/13 – Mercury in Capricorn

Mercury in Capricorn

Thursday, January 13, 3:25 am PST, 6:25 am EST

Brainy Mercury returns to calculating Capricorn where it turned retrograde last December 1. Its re-entry into this organized sign is excellent for mature thinking, responsible communication and strategic planning. A reliance on well-established principles, though, could produce resistance to untested concepts.

Happy Brrrrrr Thursday!

Ain’t it a beautiful picture, lol! Just as long as you haven’t been waking up to it for the last week.  I am trying to think what is my favorite season right about now, hmm, Summer!!!! I shouldn’t complain though about two years ago and about this time of year too, this area was struck with the ice storm from hell (a little contradictory, ok from Alaska). We were without power for ten days and I know others that didn’t have power for a month.  My daughter lives up in a National Forest in Illinois and they are doing good to have running water.  Anyway, the storm hit she had just got off work and then like a little dummy she drove home. I tried to talk her out of it but no she had to go home and feed the livestock and of course it probably wasn’t that bad up there. About thirty minutes later, she called and said she was coming to the house. She said she couldn’t even get down her gravel road at all.  Then she got here and wanted to know why we were too cheap to turn the lights on. I asked her, “What lights?” So we sit around the old candle fire and mumbled sweet nothings to each other the rest of the night.  Bad Flash Back,  Bad! Back to present time, I can’t stand the cold and neither can my cat. I don’t care what it is, if he thinks it is a blanket, quilt or anything to warm you, he is following you all over the place. So I have found a blanket, bundled up at the computer and here comes trouble. My other baby thinks we are crazy, she is a teacup Pomeranian. So to her, this feels good. She watches the cat drive me crazy till I say something. I don’t care if it is just as simple as I have got to get another cup of coffee, she is eating the cat up. The cat doesn’t appreciate her efforts to warm him up and get his blood flowing. Now as far as poor me goes, all I have is thermal socks, long johns, a sweatshirt and a ski mask, lol! I hope you aren’t in a Arctic Freeze somewhere.

Have a great Thursday!

Vervain Wish Bath

Place 2 tablespoons of vervain in the coffee maker filter cup. Add a full pot of water. As the brew drips, concentrate on your wish and visualize it coming true. Chant:

Vervain, herb of wishes sweet,

Bring my wish now, I entreat.

Draw a warm bath and add the infusion to it. Completely immerse yourself nine times, saying with each immersion.

Wish, fly quickly unto me.

As I will, so mote it be!

Step out of the tub and allow your body to dry naturally.
