Your Daily Horoscopes for Thursday, May 28th

Your Daily Horoscopes for Thursday, May 28th

Aries

There should be nice energy with you today for conversations, learning, communicating, and studying, Aries. There is a bigger focus on others, your relationships, and negotiating or accommodating people in your life, and quite a bit of pleasure in so doing, as you tend to want to spend time in others’ company. Later today, you can be a little more sensitive to imbalances in your environment, including situations that are too messy and hectic, and to what others are saying. There may be some second-guessing of plans, as small weaknesses seem to reveal themselves. A conversation or news received now can be misleading. Let time tell.

Taurus

This can be an easy day for work-related matters, dear Taurus, as you seem to naturally fall into a productive rhythm and have a nice feeling of being in synch with the people around you. This is a good week for looking at your finances and work or security matters in a new or different light, and coming up with solutions. However, there may be a bit of confusion in these areas to get past first. Later today is not the best time for clarity, particularly when it comes to finances, but also personal boundaries, possibly with a friend. There might even be some sneaky behavior going on around you. Whether it’s about bluffing or withholding information, it’s best to postpone big decisions or complicated topics.

Gemini

Much of the day, you can feel quite supported and rather free, dear Gemini, so that letting loose your more expressive, playful, or creative side is natural and easy. There is a sense that you can get pretty much anything done. Your head and your heart are working in harmony now, and this means you can make connections you wouldn’t normally make. Later today, your imagination can grow, possibly to a point of excess, with your ruler, Mercury, challenged by illusive Neptune. It’s important to avoid making too much or too little of a person or situation under this influence. Use this time for imagining possibilities without jumping to conclusions. Let time tell the truth of a matter.

Cancer

Your need for security and comfort is more pronounced today, dear Cancer, and you’re likely to seek out either the company of familiar people or privacy and solitude today, as you’re in need of a bit of a retreat or respite. It can be a wonderful time for emotional renewal, as well as moments spent with important memories. Look within and to your support system for what you need today. Not all communications are likely to get through exactly as intended later today, but if you let go of expectations and simply allow your mind some free rein, it’s a good night for creative visualization and pursuits.

Leo

You can be feeling especially eager and confident today, dear Leo, particularly when it comes to communications projects, learning, studies, friendships, and team work. There can be a good feeling of emotional rapport with others, as well as enthusiasm for future projects and activities. As the day winds down, emotions and imagination tend to strongly color your perceptions. This week is strong for generating ideas that can significantly impact your life, particularly related to long-term happiness goals, group associations, and friendships. First, you may need to rethink a few details, and tonight, there can be a confusing attachment or a crossing of boundaries that is hard to interpret.

Virgo

Emotionally, you’re more sure-footed today, dear Virgo, with the Moon now out of your sign. Focus is on what can be done, as well as activities that build and support rather than satisfy in the moment. Much of the day seems supportive of your efforts to make a mark on practical levels, and you feel rather enthusiastic about recent projects and ideas. As the day winds down, let your mind go and entertain more out of this world ideas and thoughts, as your ruler, Mercury, is coming to a hard angle with Neptune, reminding you to soften some of the hard edges of your mind and to entertain less obvious possibilities. With this influence, avoid solid commitments, as it’s not the time for clarity.

Libra

The Moon is in your sign all day, Libra, and is communicating well with planets transiting your adventure sector. This stimulates a pleasant, fresh outlook and sense of general support, airy lightness, and positivity. You are a little braver than usual, particularly for entertaining new concepts and ideas, for expressing your feelings or opinions, and for believing in someone or something. You can more fully appreciate the cooperative elements of your life. Personal enjoyment should be easy, but later today it’s vital that you avoid expecting things to transpire exactly as expected, and to avoid taking things at face value only, as there is a rather dreamy but confusing and possibly disorienting aspect between Mercury and Neptune active later today and early tomorrow. Watch for forgetfulness.

Scorpio

This can be a great day for looking back on recent events and discovering different ways to approach areas of your life that have grown a little dull, dear Scorpio. Today and this week are strong for coming up with ideas that can have significance in your future, particularly related to self-improvement programs, your intimate life, and financial support or shared resources. To get there, however, you may need to deal with a bit of confusion in these areas. Imagination is powerful later today, possibly to the point of self-deception, but if harnessed and channeled in the right direction, you can be highly creative right now.

Sagittarius

Much of the day is good for spending with a partner or friends, Sagittarius. Sharing ideas, enjoying activities with others, networking, and negotiating can be in focus now, and quite favored. It’s only towards the end of the day that there can be some lack of clarity. It’s a good time for dreaming up new ideas, but less ideal for discovering concrete answers or commitments. The best way to handle this energy is to resolve to let go of expectations and simply enjoy the moment. A partner could be giving off mixed signals. Look for new ways to approach the people in your life if you feel a little distant. With Mercury retrograde, this is a strong time for rethinking problem areas, particularly relationship-related.

Capricorn

Most of the day is strong for exchanging ideas, making plans and lists, devising strategies, and considering different sides to a problem, Capricorn. You may be anxious to share some of your recent ideas and enthusiasm with others, or to build upon them on your own. Later today, as Mercury and Neptune move towards a square, engage your creative and imaginative side rather than focus too heavily on facts and figures. Sometimes when these two planets meet, we can get carried away with impractical ideas, but if you stay grounded and simply entertain possibilities, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Aquarius

You get nice support from a group of planets in fellow Air signs today, dear Aquarius, and this gives you a feeling of general ease and lightness. You can in fact feel quite buoyant now. Certainly, your more creative and playful sides are easier to access and express. You can be excited about recent new ideas and might be playing around with how you might turn them into something solid. Towards the end of the day, clarity isn’t as easy to come by. Mercury and Neptune are moving towards a square, and this tends to cast a temporary layer of fog over your thinking. Use this energy to entertain fantasies, but wait before making big decisions, particularly related to matters of the heart and financial affairs.

Pisces

This can be a good day for keeping your mind and body busy, Pisces, even with a rather retiring quality to your nature right now. You could be very busy with your memories, and with reviewing recent events and conversations. Keep a healthy flow of communication going with family and those close to you. Consider ways to improve the ways you communicate, as this is a strong period with Mercury retrograde to look at the ways you connect with others in new ways. This week is strong for seeing where improvements can be made. Later today, there can be some confusion or lack of clarity that crops up with family or concerning domestic affairs, however. It’s a chance to look for inconsistencies in plans.

Let’s Talk Witch – Creative Visualization

Witchy Comments & Graphics

Let’s Talk Witch – Creative Visualization

Creative visualization is the art of allowing the mind sufficient freedom to produce a symbol or picture which is meaningful to nobody else but you. It does not have to be ornate – indeed you will find the simpler the better. Sometimes the image will come to you in meditation, sometimes in dreams and sometimes will arise spontaneously apparently of its own volition.

As a general rule there are seven stages of creative visualization. These are as follows:

1. Setting the scene in as much detail as you can.

2. Visualizing objectively yourself and others taking part in your scenario.

3. Refining the detail, rejecting things that are obviously not feasible or are over the top, and accepting and adding additional detail where possible.

4. Seeing, feeling and sensing yourself participating in your visualization.

5. Testing your doubts and fears. These may range from ‘Have I the right to expect this?’ to ‘Someone will stop me….’ and taking in a huge range of similar such statements in between – even down to ‘Do I really want this?’

6. Accepting that whatever you are visualizing can happen for you in the here and now. You are giving yourself an acceptable present.

7. Taking responsibility for allowing your visualization to happen. You have, and can have, a sustainable future.

You can often gain tremendous insight into your own and other people’s motivation through this process and it is, of course, an invaluable tool in making things happen in a positive way. Here we use it to remove problems, but it could equally be used to create good things for yourself and others.

Tuesday’s Creative Visualization

Celtic Visualization for Renewed Life and Energy

Listen for the Bells

According to myth Celtic Shamans used sacred branches hung with silver bells to open doors between the material world and spirit world. Close your eyes and imagine hearing the music of the silver bells. Approaching the sound you see a gateway formed by two blossoming trees. Passing through, you find yourself in another world. Ahead of you the guardian of the gateway is tending a cauldron over a fire. The guardian fills a chalice with liquid from the cauldron and hands it to you. The spicy drink replenishes your strength. The guardian tells you to return whenever you need to, reminding you to listen for the silver bells. You pass back through the gateway and open your eyes. You feel full of life and energy.

THE CRAFT AND THE HEALING ARTS

THE CRAFT AND THE HEALING ARTS

Pagans/witches have a wide variety of healing techniques in their
arsenal.  The healing arts encompass the magical and medicinal herbalisms,
shamanistic practices (roughly speaking, using the powers of a spirit
guide), the raising of energy directed towards the patient (cone of power,
creative visualization, etc.), “direct” intercession with the gods, and
standard medical practices (Western medicine, Oriental medicine.)
An effective healing may be any combination of the above, depending on
circumstances.
Several rules of ethics govern the use of the healing arts.  These
follow, along with a few suggestions that may prove useful to the
practicioners of the healing arts:

*If a circumstance calls for standard Western medicine, do not ignore
this in favor of other methods of healing.  Any “witch” who tells you that
his/her treatment is only valid if one stops taking prescribed medicine, or
forgoes recommended surgery should be reported to the local Better Business
Bureau, post haste.  Either they do not realize that the magical methods can
complement “modern” methods, or they are (more likely) con artists.  Stop
them before they hurt someone else, in some cases, fatally.  There is a case
in New Jersey of someone who halted her insulin treatments by the order of a
“witch”, as proof that she had “faith” in that “witch’s” treatment.  Those
pagans who are M.D.’s see no substitution for standard medical practices.
Rather, other workings may be seen as supplementations.  This cannot be
stressed enough.

*Avoid charging for healings.  Certainly, reimbursement for equipment
used is valid, but charging for healings is both unethical and can get one
in trouble with the law, for practicing medicine without a license.  Now,
there is much debate within the Pagan community over charging for magical
services of whatever kind; but it seems to me to be a cheapening of the gift
to charge for it.

*Never heal someone without their consent.  Reasons a person may not
give his/her consent are varied, and must be considered.  Respect the wishes
of others.  One may, however, heal those for whom there is no way to ask
consent — if someone is in a coma, it is permissible to work a direct
healing upon that person.  I find that, for people I cannot mention Craft
healing work to, for one reason or another, that sending healing energy to
the VICINITY of that person is ethical.  The person is then free, on a lower
or subconscious level, to take in that energy (in whatever form they can use
it) or to reject it.  The energy is simply made available for their use,
interpretable by their psyches, and usable according to their own Will.  To
force healing upon someone, whatever your intent, interferes with the other
person’s freedom of choice, unethical in itself, and will have unfavorable
repercussions both for you and for that other person.  You might, for
instance, become the sort of person who Presumes to know what is Good For
Everyone Else, and you might have a good future as a book-burner (at least
in spirit).

*Some people seem to have more of a knack with the non-standard healing
arts than others.  Those people who are the best healers are not necessarily
in the best graces with their god/goddess.  Just because a person can heal
does not imply that their theo/a/logy is the best.  Much of non-traditional
haling may tap into some of the same wellsprings, but healing in and of
itself does not guarantee religious correctness.  Some healers, indeed, are
only marginally religious.  (Obviously, the same applies to MD’s.)

*A healer using herbs has the responsibility of knowing about the herbs
he or she uses.  There are many contradictory statements in the literature,
and there are some herbs that should not be taken in large concentrations;
and there are some herbs that should not be taken by pregnant women or
nursing mothers.  A herbalist should learn the literature, and learn to
distrust literature that does not list contraindications.  Some herbs
recommended in the literature are, frankly, mere superstitions.  Others have
indeed proved effective, and some of these have even passed on to Western
medical practice (digitalis, for instance).

*Those using creative visualization are advised to visualize the
patient as being healthy and happy.  Avoid, while doing the working,
visualizing the patient in his current sick or unhealthy state.  Sometimes
it helps to imagine the patient doing something he or she enjoys doing.

*In creative visualization/cone of power methods the patient may be
present, or may be absent.  It helps, if the patient is present, to touch
the patient directly and gently.

*Those using shamanistic techniques should be well-grounded in such
techniques.  They should have gone on various shamanistic journeys
themselves, and have overcome obstacles on such journeys.  This is in order
that one might be confident and capable during the ordeal of shamanistic
healing.

*After doing energy raising and/or shamanistic techniques of healing,
be very certain to “ground out”.  Shamanism has some of its own techniques,
but after Craft-style healings one method is to lay one’s hands forcibly on
the ground (or floor), exhaling deeply, feeling the excess power returning
to the Earth.

*As a healer, remember that a person’s sickness is not some sort of
supernatural punishment for something he has or has not done.  It is not
your position as healer to cast that sort of judgement.  There are some who
would disagree with me on this, but these are the same sorts who would
reckon AIDS to be a karmic punishment, or who would reckon the starvation in
Ethiopia to be another sort of karmic punishment.

*Know your level of competence.  If you are asked to do a healing, and
you are competent, and the person is sensible about seeking standard medical
help if appropriate; and/or if standard medical help is not helping, it is
in your position to render such aid as you are competent to render.

*No matter how you do whatever it is that you do concerning healing, a
proper “bedside manner” must be more than cultivated; it must be believed.

*Western culture is beginning to realize that standard medicine cannot
solve all illnesses.  Hence, the advent of hospices.  Non-standard healing
practices are (or should be) well-grounded in the notion that not every
ailment, disease, or illness can be cured.  It is a heavy responsibility
upon the healer to deal with this realization.  The pagan religions see
birth, life, and death as an acceptable and natural cycle.  At some time, a
pagan healer will likely come face to face with the notion of mortality;
with the notion that there are patients, despite all skill and caring, that
cannot be cured.  Depending upon the ailment, the healer must know how to
react.  This is true, of course, for even standard MD practice.  At a
certain point, the wholistic/pagan healer must accept the inevitability of
failure; possibly even the inevitability of death.  At such point, whatever
techniques the healer knows for bestowing a sense of tranquility to the
patient are appropriate.  Healing energy may be sent; sent to comfort and
confer the peace of mind essential for a good transition between life and
death.  It is also beneficial if people close to the patient relate to the
patient on a day-to-day basis of support and encouragement, allowing that
person to express whatever he or she needs to express.  Similar energy and
support, sent to a person to help them deal with a permanent but non-fatal
disability, is also appropriate.  Patients require confidence and strength
in such situations, and these may be reinforced in a number of ways, both
magical and day-to-day.

*Remember, take a lot of healing practices with a grain of salt.
Filipino spirit surgery I’d take with a whole bushel.

*One should also be aware of the values of preventative medicine.

How To Create an Artificial Elemental

HOW TO CREATE AN ARTIFICIAL ELEMENTAL

You can create your own artificial elemental for

various purposes. An artificial elemental is basically a

thoughtform which has been strengthened with emotion. Refer

to the aura color chart in the previous lesson and decide

what color to make the elemental, based upon your intended

purpose. Apple green is a good choice for general purposes.

Then decide on a shape or outline. Do you want your elemental

to resemble some sort of animal? A simple circle or cloud is

a good place to start. With this in mind you can use ritual

to create your elemental. Creative visualization is good for

this. Visualize it glowing before you. A darkened room is

helpful for this.

Communicate with your elemental with telepathy, by

talking to it, or with creative visualization. Your

artificial elemental is closely linked to you and your

subconscious attitudes. It will generally not do things you

think it cannot do. As in any magick, results relate to

effort and belief. Another way of looking at an artificial

elemental is as an aspect of your personality (sub

personality) which has been detached from you.

Today’s Affirmation for February 16th

I have a body but am not my body. I have a mind but I am not my mind. I have thoughts but I am not my thought.

Today’s Thought for February 16th

“If you cannot find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?”

Dogen (1200 – 1253)

Today’s Meditation for February 16th

Restore Truth

Our ability to perceive truth is often distorted by our beliefs. To raise awareness of your beliefs, meditate on a recent situation. Try to identify the beliefs that led to your actions. Now cast your mind back to your early years to learn the origins of these beliefs – perhaps in the messages given by parents a teachers. The greater your awareness of distorting beliefs, the more you will be able to perceive the truth.

In a similar way, meditate on the actions of a colleague or partner to gain greater understanding of their behavior.
