Pele is the fiery Hawaiian volcano goddess. The daughter of the earth goddess Haimea, Pele came to Hawaii on a boat. Killed in a fight with her sister, the ocean, sho took refuge in the glowing cauldron of Mount Kilauea (this is the volcano that had the major eruption in July 2018 – a link will be below) where she receives the souls of the dead and regenerates them with fire. In a tempestuous relationship with Kamapua`a the ferocious pig god, she is portrayed as a jealous goddess, her rages manifesting as volcanic eruptions. Revered by Hawaiians even today, she carries the force of the volcano, with its molten lava flow, which even in destrud=ction creates new land. Pele stands for the molten, fierce aspect of life that is unable to do anything halfway. She reminds us that even in the midst of fiery eruption there s creation and new life.
Happy, content, and affable, the Year of the Brown Earth Pig (beginning on February 5, 2019 and ending on January 24, 2020) will cultivate a spirit of compassion and generosity. The more you read about Wicca and Paganism, the more you may feel that contemporary writings are geared towards female practitioners. Does this mean that Wicca is limited to only women, or than men can’t be Wiccan? Not at all!
In fact, Wicca — and other forms of Pagan belief — are not limited to one gender or the other. And if you’re reading this and you’re one of the people who is telling the menfolk they can’t be Wiccan or Pagan, please just stop it right now.
Although the exact percentages aren’t clear, you’ll find that statistically, many more women are drawn to Pagan religions than men, including but not limited to Wicca. Go to any Pagan event, and chances are good that the population is going to skew more towards the ladies than the gents. Why is this? It’s often because Pagan religions, including Wicca, embrace the sacred feminine alongside the power of the masculine. There’s a duality, a polarity in Pagan religions that’s not often found in mainstream faiths. For women, particularly those who were raised in a monotheistic, patriarchal religion, this can be a welcome and empowering change — especially since leadership roles are available equally to women in Pagan spiritual paths.
Also, remember that many Pagan religions were originally fertility religions. Wicca itself certainly is, and some sub-branches of reconstructionist faiths are as well. By its very nature, a fertility cult confers high status upon the feminine.
So what does this mean in terms of the guys in the community? Does it mean they aren’t welcome in modern Paganism? Hardly. Most traditions of Paganism have room for both the male and the female, often side by side and equal. Although there are some groups that honor only a goddess and not a god, far more are dedicated to both a god and goddess, or in some cases, multiple deities of both genders.
If a ritual looks as though it was written with a female practitioner in mind, consider a couple of possibilities. Is it one that needs to have feminine language in it, such as a rite honoring mothers? Or is it simply that the person who wrote it was female, and so it’s got feminine language in it, but is still something that could be adapted to a masculine perspective? When I was in a speech class in college we had to choose any topic we wanted to give a 7-minute speech on. I chose to write and give a speech on how just 1 person can change the world. I used Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Hitler. Both men changed the world in different ways forever. PArt of my speech included how Dr. King’s followers mourned his death at the time and in some ways we still mourn him. While on the other side Hitler people even the ones he trusted most were glad he died.
America and other countries still have a ways to go until we come to a point of there being no discrimination towards anyone no matter what their sexual preference is, what religion they follow, what color their skin is, how fat or skinny a person is, whether they wear glasses or not. I could go on with this list but I want you to think and dig deep into your mind to find out who you think of as not being an equal to you because we all to some extent discriminate against a person or group of people whether we do consciously or unconsciously. I feel we are at a crossroads and have the chance to bury all our negative feeling of discrimination.
Every day for the next 7-days take a piece of paper no matter what size it is and write down everything you know you discriminate against. Take your time doing this as it will help to cleanse your spirit and some chakras as well. On the 8th day either tear your papers into tiny pieces or burn them in your cauldron or whatever you have that you can burn them but be able to collect the ashes. Now go to a crossroad if you can bury them if can’t bury them just pour them out of the container onto the middle of the crossroads. DO NOT LOOK BACK look to the now and the future to start helping to wipe discrimination off the face of Mother Earth.
One final thing to think about if everyone everywhere believes that everyone else is equal to them there would be less need for military personnel because there would be fewer wars and/or terrorist attacks. There would also be a world that could once again find how to live in harmony with Mother Earth and all living things.

This week we are going to find out more about the Goddess Gaia. Which is also another name given to Mother Earth by Neo-Pagans.
GAIA
Gaia existed before everything; she existed before time. Gaia, the eternal, prehistoric earth mother goddess,, is fertility incarnate, moist, mysterious, strong. She is life energy itself; everything that lives, breathing or not, overflows with her life. She is the earth and all powers of the earth. Gaia is not always a consoling goddess: standing for life and generation without thought of consequence, she has energy and a power that must be approached carefully. All bodies eventually return to her, into the black, fertile earth, to be devoured and to receive her life to live again. As goddess of the soul, Gaia reminds us that the soul develops in dark places and that ultimately soul must be rooted in the body, in earth. She is a reminder that we must ground ourselves into the reality of nature and incorporate all sides of ourselves, be the pleasant or unpleasant, light or dark.

As Witches or Pagans we do not need four walls, a roof, doors, and Windows to make our church. All we need is a quite place in nature be it our yard, a forest, by a body of water even if it is just a small trickling creek, etc. Or a place in our home to sent up a permanent or even a non-permanent altar to ask a Goddess and/or God to hear our prayers, help us work a magickal spell and/or ritual.
We do not need a book of specific songs to sing to or about our deities. All we need is our voice and to allow ourselves to sing or chant whatever words come to us to let a Goddess or God or both know what they mean to us as an individual. We do now need another book that tells us how we should be living.
We do not need to show off to other people we are a “put your choice of a main stream religion here.” We live our chosen spiritual path and walk in all aspects of our lives every day.
We do not need one specific day of the week to go into a building to “worship” our God. We can do it any day and place; although we do not worship our deities like main stream religions instead we ask them for help and give them an offering, as simple as pouring some water onto the ground, to thank the God and/or Goddess and/or the Element(s) for their help. We do not need a specific God to ask to save our immortal soul after committing a ‘sin’ and because we asked and it was forgiven by him weare are free from whatever wrong we did including murdering another person. We take the responsibility when we haves wronged another living being on Mother Earth an we go directly to the human, Animal,bird, etc and ask for giveness.
We do not need a specific religious dogma to follow. We have many pagan spiritual paths that We many just one to follow or we many pick and chose from more then one path to incorporate as our spiritual and magical path. The way we chose to practice The Old Ways or the more modern Neo-Paganism may change and evolve over time the only constant thing in your Magickal and Spiritual path is YOU!
