Good hunting and fishing determined the survival of the Stone Age tribe. A little later, the number of domestic animals and the success of crops meant life or death. The tribe also needed many children. They had to replace those who died in infancy and early childhood, and few people lived beyond their thirties.

A division of labor existed from the earliest societies. Men hunted and fished. Women gathered food and cared for the children. Men had a male god, who controlled the hunt. The god wore horns or antlers, representing his power over the prey. Women worshiped a great mother goddess. She insured fertility and controlled the magical and medicinal powers of plants. Later, when agriculture was developed, both god and goddess protected the domestic animals and the crops. A priestess and a priest worked together as the representatives of the gods. They had ceremonies…

Witchcraft Chapter one – Introduction to Witchcraft

High Priestess Raven Spirit Walker's avatarEnchanted Circle of Witches®

by Ilil Arbel

Your world is rational and well ordered. Science, technology and regulated business are part of it. Why bother with a subject that seems so Medieval, perhaps even obsolete? What has Witchcraft to do with you, as you sit at your books, or at your computer? Thinking about these threatening old tales and vague images of evil may even make you uncomfortable. Is it at all worth your time?

Very much so. No pursuit is more important than the attempt to understand one’s own self. Magic preceded psychology, and the story of Witchcraft affords a significant glimpse into the development of our minds and feelings. Somehow, in the innermost recesses of our private thoughts, something still answers the call of the ancient horns of the Wild Ride of the Fairies and witches. With all our modern achievements, we are the same beings that once huddled in dark caves…

Personal Request #3 – Voodoo Binding Spell

Legend of the Dragons

Voodoo Binding Spell

Take a treasured object from the person you are binding (something flammable) and burn it. Rub the ash on your poppet’s head and say:

“You are {person’s name } in thought”.

Then rub the ash on the puppet’s hands and say

“You are {person’s name } in deed”

Next rub ash on the poppet’s heart area and say

“You are {person’s name } at heart and I bind You from {Just about anything can be used here}.

Tie the puppet’s hands and feet behind its back.

*A word of advice, it works best if you burn black or red candles and/or bitter incense and look at the poppet occasionally and remind yourself that the person is the poppet.

Legend of the Dragons
Bind a Person from Coming onto Your Property

Materials Required: Picture of the person
Twine or String

Instructions: To banish a person form your property, and keep them from returning, take a picture of the person and wrap the picture with the string until it is completely covered. Bury the wrapped picture in the ground where it will not be found. If you wish to remove the binding, dig up the picture and untie the string. Then, bury the picture in one hole, and bury the string in another.

Personal Request #1 – Strong Binding Spell

Legend of the Dragons

Strong Binding Spell

Materials Required:
One picture of the person
One piece of material (belonging to person) to make a doll (a sock would work fine)
Sand
Rope, at least one yard
Grass

Instructions:

This is a very strong binding spell, meant to be used for protection, as well as cursing. It will work hard to keep the intended person away from you. Make a doll from the person’s material and fill it with the grass and sand. Place the picture of the person on top of the doll, and wrap the two together with the rope until neither are visible.

Bury the object in a place far away from where you live, socialize or work, where it won’t be found.

Earth Sky News for May 16th: How to see the legendary green flash

How to see the legendary green flash

The green flash image at the top of this post was taken by Jim Grant, our friend on Facebook. He captured it off the coast of Ocean Beach, California. He called it a mock mirage green flash.

You can see green flashes with the eye, when sky conditions are just right, if you are looking toward a very clear and very distant horizon. That’s why those who see green flashes most often see them over a sea horizon. You also must be looking just at sunset, at the last moment before the sun disappears below the horizon. And you have to be careful not to look too soon. Wait until just the thinnest rim of the sun appears above the horizon. If you look too soon, the light of the sunset will dazzle (or damage) your eyes, and you’ll miss your green flash chance that day.

There are many different types of green flash. Some describe a streak or ray of the color green … like a green flame shooting up from the sunrise or sunset horizon. The most common green flash, which many people describe, is a flash of the color green seen when the sun is nearly entirely below the horizon.
If you’re interested in green flashes, Andrew Young’s green flash page is great. He also has a page of links to pictures of green flashes taken by people from around the globe. You need a distant horizon to see any of these phenomena, and you need a distinct edge to the horizon. So these green flashes, streaks, and rays are often seen over the ocean – but you can see them over land, too, if your horizon is far enough away. Pollution or haze on the horizon will hide this instantaneous flash of the color green.

Here’s another good article about the green flash by Peter Michaud.

And here’s a rather subtle green flash video here. I had to watch it several times to convince myself I saw any green.

Bottom line: The green flash is legendary, and some people have told us they thought it was a myth, like a unicorn or a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. But green flashes are very real. You need a distant and very clear horizon to see them at the last moment before the sun disappears below the horizon at sunset.
