The Witches Moon Phase for October 7th is Waning Crescent

October 7
Waning Crescent
Illumination: 25%

The Moon today is in a Waning Crescent phase. In this phase the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the New Moon. During this phase the Moon is getting closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing the Earth with only a small edge of the Moon being illuminated. This phase is best viewed an hour or 2 before the sunrise and can be quite beautiful if you’re willing to get up early. It can also be a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the edge where the illuminated portion meets the dark side, the craters and mountains cast long shadows making them easier to observe with a telescope or binoculars.

COLOR MAGIC

Wiccan Priestess COLOR MAGIC

We all use and make decisions about color in our daily lives— what colors we wear, which paints we use, the cars we drive, the food we eat, even the shampoos we buy. A whole host of decisions we make every day are at least partly decided by color. Most people have a favorite color. Mine is purple, and most of my home is decorated in shades of this color. Even my cloak is a beautiful shade of heather. It is a color that I am comfortable with. You will have your own favorite shade that features prominently in your life— and hopefully you have an understanding partner if your favorite color is acid green or Barbie pink!

The use of color can really enhance your magic and spell work, because each color lends its own energy and its associations to your spells and rituals. There are many ways to include color magic in your work— from candle magic to knot magic, from spell bags to plant magic. In fact, all of your magic will be greatly enhanced by your own knowledge of which colors work in which ways. I believe that there is no right or wrong color chart; what works for one will not necessarily work for all. If a certain color means a certain thing to you, who’s to say that you’re wrong and some impersonal chart is right? For example, when you think of the Goddess, do you see her as white? Silver? Gold? Blue? Who’s to tell you which is the right color?

The right color is the one with which you feel confident and comfortable working. And the right colors are the ones you can remember. If you want to create a spell spontaneously, you don’t want to have to go looking for a color-correspondence chart to find out which color works in a certain way. You have to trust what’s in your heart and work in a way that is true to you. I suggest you create your own color chart in your Book of Shadows. Spend some time thinking about what each color evokes for you and write it down. If you need some guidelines, below is the basic list I use in my own magic. Maybe it will give you a starting point or help you add to your own list. If you already work with color, try exploring some of the more intricate shades of each color to expand your catalog.

White: protection and purity; use in all magic as a universal color

Black: to absorb negativity and spirit contact; for banishing spells

Yellow: confidence and growth; for harmony spells Red: strength and passion; for power spells

Blue: health and patience; for awareness spells

Purple: peace and meditation; for blessing spells Pink: relaxation and friendship; for love spells

Green: nature and Fae magic; for wealth spells

Brown: earth and animals; for grounding spells

Orange: luck and vitality; for strength spells

Silver: the Goddess and the moon; for balance spells

Gold: the God and the sun; for power spells

Every color, of course, has varying shades— from pastel to deep or bright. Make your list as simple or as complicated as you like. A good way to build your own list is to have someone read off colors to you and you say the first thing that comes into your head that you associate with each color. That way, you will know that you are working with what’s true to your heart and with something that you will remember.

Celebrating 365 Days A Year of Legends, Folklore & Spirituality for October 7th – Kermesse

Wiccan

October 7th

Kermesse

This unique festival dates back to 15th-century Germany. Traditionally, this weeklong celebration focused on the digging up of an effigy that had been buried the year before. The object was ritually unearthed and then mounted on a brightly decorated pole that was paraded through the streets to announce the beginning of the festival. The opening procession was followed by a week of games, feasting and dancing. At the end of the festival, the participants would dress up in their mourning attire and rebury the effigy in its grave, where it would remain until the next Kermesse.

Wednesday Is Ruled By Mercury

The Witching HourWednesday Is Ruled By Mercury

Wednesdays are wild and wacky days. They are for communication, change, cunning, and the arts. This is a Mercury day, and just its patron god this day is full of contradictions, change, and excitement. Some suggestions for Wednesday enchantments would include:

Pulling a little Wednesday color magic into your life by wearing purples or orange

Carrying a multipurpose agate with you and tapping into its various charms

Working with magical plants such as the fern for protection. This plant will also boost the power of any other magical plants with which it is arranged.

Incorporating lavender into charms and spells for transformation

Using the charming scent of lily of the valley to improve your memory, or working with the aspen tree for communication

Calling on Athena, patron of arts and crafts, for inspiration for a new project

Fanning out a Tarot spell to increase you creativity

Calling on Hermes on a Wednesday night to bring movement and good luck into your life

Wednesday Witchery

WiccanWednesday Witchery

Be bold and daring today! Expand your knowledge of the Craft by working with the planetary energies of Mercury on this multifaceted day of the week. Consider the Greco-Roman gods Mercury and Hermes and all of the many lessons they have for you. Embrace change and movement, and work on your communication techniques. Conjure up a little good luck for yourself with that Mercury dime spell. Call on Athena to inspire you to try magickal arts and crafts and to be more creative in your own spellwork and witchery.

Meditate on Odin and see what you can discover about him. I wonder what sort of fabulous and fascinating magickal wisdom you will uncover? Odin is a shaman, after all; he may appear in many guises and faces. I guarantee that he will make you laugh at yourself before he is through with you, but you will learn. It’s up to you what you do with that knowledge. Will you let it shapeshift into wisdom?

Wednesday is the wild and wily day of the week, so try to go with the flow; don’t fight the quirky energies of the day. Most importantly, follow your heart, and always keep a good sense of humor, because of Wednesdays you will really need it.

Witch’s Healing Candle Spell

WITCH’S HEALING CANDLE SPELL

To help speed a recovery from illness, write the sick person’s name upon a white human-shaped candle of the appropriate gender. As you anoint it with three drops of myrrh or mint oil, visualize healing energy in the form of white light flowing from your hands into the candle and say:

In the divine name of the Goddess
Who breathes life into us all
I consecrate and charge this candle
As a magical tool for healing.

Place the candle on top of a photograph of the sick person and then light the wick.As the candle burns down, concentrate upon the person in the photograph, willing him or her to be well again, and chant the following incantation:

Magick mend and candle burn,
Sickness end; good health return.

Candle Spell Against Psychic Attack

CANDLE SPELL AGAINST PSYCHIC ATTACK

You will need:
white candle
red candle
black candle

Imagine a blue ball of energy inside the candles. Caress the candles as you chant:

Goddess of Three, I call upon thee,
To protect from those who wish to harm me
Keep them from using the gift from thee
Keep them from using thy gift to harm me

When you finish chanting, imagine the blue ball exploding into lines of blue. Imagine the lines surrounding you and wrapping you in warm blue energy.See the blue light as a shield. Know that it is unbreakable. Think about how it is the Goddess’ Light protecting you.

Then put the candles someplace where they can burn undisturbed and let them burn themselves out, sending all the energy into your shield. This spell is best performed during the full moon.

For longer effects you can make it a seven-day spell.

Healing Fire Candle Spell

HEALING FIRE CANDLE SPELL

You will need:
Three Purple Candles
Three Blue Candles
Photograph of yourself

Place the candles in a circle around the photograph. Charge each candle individually:

“I charge you by the powers of fire East, South, West, and North;
I charge you by the powers of The Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
I charge you by the powers of The Sun, the Moon, and the Stars:
To heal me of this disease (or ailment) Its causes and its manifestations.
So mote it be!”

Now, after you light each candle, say:
“Burn the sickness in your flame Burn the sickness that would maim.
Burn the illness by your might Burn the illness in your light.
Heal me of illness and pain Heal me of all that is bane.
Heal me and set me free With my will so must it be!”
Do this spell as many nights in a row that you need to.

Prosperity Spell

PROSPERITY SPELL

Things you will need:
1 gold candle
6 green candles
9 white candles
Pine oil (for anointing the candles)
salt

The spell is to begin at one minute past midnight sun time on the night of April 30
(May 1), July 31 (Aug 1), Oct 31 (Nov. 1) and Jan 31 (Feb 1) In other words, on the first
minute of the cross quarter day.

Spell:
All candles must be dressed with pine oil and then arranged as follows:
Gold candle in the center.
Green candles in a circle around gold candle.
White candles in a circle around green candles.

At one minute past midnight on the appointed day, trace a salt circle around the outermost circle of candles, light the gold candle first, then the green candles, moving deosil (clock wise), then the white candles, moving deosil. Circle the altar three times, chanting:

“Orbiting Jupiter trine the sun, bring money on the run.”

Do the chant 3 times. Sit quietly for a few minutes and visualize your monetary needs. Then snuff (do not blow or pinch) the candles in reverse order.

A Spell to Revive Passion

A Spell to Revive Passion

If passion is cooling between you and your lover this simple spell may help revive it. Ideally it demands there be a fire in your sacred space. If this is not practical, when you consecrate the laurel leaves, consecrate some coal and when you have opened your circle, leave the circle and take the leaves and the coal to your fireplace. Or if you live in a centrally heated home, you could build a bonfire or use your barbecue.

You will need:
Lots of laurel leaves
A fire in embers

Gaze at the embers, a picture of your love in your mind’s eye, for a moment or two before throwing some of the laurel leaves onto the embers. As they smoulder say:

Sacred leaves glow in the fire
Warm the heart of my true love’s desire.

When the leaves have burned away, repeat the ritual twice, adding,

‘And let it be done, that it harm no one,’

the last time you say the words.

If the fire was in your sacred space, bring the magic making to an end in your usual fashion. If you had to leave the circle to cast the spell, return to it through the same ‘door’ you made in it when you left, and then perform your closing ritual

A Spell to Win Affections

A Spell to Win Affections

This spell takes time to cast its magic but if, after a week or two, the person whose affections you are trying to win does not seem to be responding then perhaps the fates are advising you to look elsewhere for love.

You will need:
An onion
A new flowerpot
Potting compost
A boline
Jasmine essential oil
Patience

Scratch the name of the person you are in love with on the base of the onion with the boline and plant it in the flowerpot. Focus on the flowerpot for a moment or two, then say:

Plant take root and grow shoots.
Shoots grow into leaves.
May a flower bloom among them.
And as the flower blooms,
May *******’s love for me
Take root, bloom and flower.
And let it be done, that it harm no one.

Close the magic making in your usual way, before putting the pot on a window sill that faces the direction in which your love lives. Repeat the incantation every day until the first flower appears and if by then there has been no reaction then look to pastures new.

A Spell to Evoke a Romantic Response

A Spell to Evoke a Romantic Response

If you are attracted to someone but there is no response, this spell may do the trick. It won’t make them fall for you, but it will make sure that nothing stands in the way. The spell works best if it is cast on a Friday.
You will need:
A wine glass
A plain gold ring
80 cm of red ribbon
A crystal of rose quartz
A bowl of red flowers
A picture of the person you wish to attract, if available

Stand the wine glass on your altar. Thread the ribbon through the ring to make a pendulum and, holding the ribbon between your thumb and forefinger, let the ring hang in the rim of the glass, without letting it touch the sides .

Say aloud your name and the name of the person you are attracted to. Pause for a moment then repeat both names again and then once more. Look at the picture (if you don’t have one, bring one into your mind’s eye) and spell their name out loud. As you say each letter, let the ring tap against the glass.

Tie the ribbon round your neck, the ring resting on your heart and bring the magic making to an end. Wear it for three weeks, taking it off only to repeat the spell on the next three Fridays. If after the end of the third week there has been no sign that your interest is being reciprocated, then perhaps it’s time to realize that some things are never meant to be.
