Music of the Soul

Music of the Soul

Another psychic creative ability in addition to automatic writing is the ability to get aural communications of music. It’s possible that you have a musical talent, even if you haven’t yet tapped into it. Perhaps you have always had a special interest in music, and you may even play or sing. Some of you may do it naturally, even if you don’t have formal music education. It’s also possible that at some time in the past, you wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument or to sing, but you got very frustrated with a particular aspect of the learning process and simply quit. If such is the case, remember that it’s not too late to incorporate music into your life in some way that will be right for you.

Natural psychic creative talent is sometimes more of a curse than a gift. There is no way to teach that which you know intuitively. When you try to work with someone who teaches in a different way, the results are usually very discouraging for both pupil and mentor. Just because you can’t learn the same way as others does not mean that you aren’t creative in music. Natural ability cannot be taught; it is something that you are born with. It is a part of your mental makeup, just as your other talents and intuitive gifts.

If you are already a musician, you can greatly benefit through automatic performance. Every single sound and note has the potential to allow Universal Energy to flow through it. It is the energy that provides natural intuitive performance. When the essence of the soul is allowed to flow through the energy, then the music comes from the Universe, and the performer is only the mechanism through which it is played. Your greatest responsibility is to keep the instrument of yourself in tune and to be prepared to amplify the music that is played through you.

Automatic Performance

This technique can apply not only to the performance of music but to anything that is creative. Before each performance, ask your internal and external guidance systems for you to be allowed to represent the Universe and perform at the best level that is possible. Always take a deep breath, exhale, and for a moment let yourself focus on your third eye and your guidance systems. Feel yourself becoming more and more in balance with the Universal Mind. Ask your Belief that you will be open to the sounds of the Universe to be played through you and that you become an amplifier for its beautiful music.

Suggest to yourself that you will let your unconscious mind open so that the musical images will flow out to be heard by those who are ready to hear the music. Let your mind, body, and soul become in tune with the universal peace and love that flows through the music. As you feel the energy begin to flow through and around your body, prepare to let yourself become totally absorbed in the music. Suggest to yourself that you are on automatic pilot, and what is coming through you is the pure music of the Universe. Now let yourself become immersed in your musical performance trance.

Spontaneous Creativity

Bob and Robin Orfant, musicians and composers, created three albums of music on the art of Maxfield Parrish. Neither one of them knew how to read music, except for guitar chords. To write the music, they took their instruments and a recorder and went to the deceased artist’s old studio, where they became one with the remaining energy of his work. The music started to flow automatically, and with the recorder capturing the moment, the material for their albums was spontaneously composed and performed at the same time.

Communication with Other Entities

Communication with Other Entities

You can use automatic writing to communicate with your guides, angels, or those from the Other Side. When this takes place, you become a channel for messages. It is very possible that your trance state may be deep enough that you are totally unaware of what is taking place during the writing process, and you will only know the contents of the messages transmitted through your pen or computer keyboard when you read them afterward.

When you attempt this method, start conservatively and slowly. It is important for you to become comfortable and to have complete confidence and trust in this method so that you can always remain in balance with your psychic abilities.

Getting the Message

Your guides may have specific messages for you. They may help you resolve situations from the past, give you advice for the future, and help you in current decisions. Your guides may also have advice for members of your family or friends. It is up to you how to share them, but you might want to ask for ways to pass them on. Remember to ask that when you write, the material they give you will be useful for those around you as well as yourself.

Once you develop a communication pattern with the voices who want to write through you, keep a journal and specific notes on the subjects covered. You may find that what you write does not make sense at the present, but it may at some time in the future. You might think that what you are doing is like putting a puzzle together. It sometimes takes awhile to match different parts up.

You may want to use automatic writing to communicate with your Universal Mind or what many refer to as talking with God. You may write down the things you read in the Akashic Records. The universal truths that you write may be for yourself or others. The first step is to get them down, and then you can ask your guidance systems for help in what to do with the information you have collected. Something only becomes meaningful to others when it is presented in a manner that they can understand. In other words, part of your writing goal may be to interpret the hologram in a way that others may also experience it.

Although you may know who it is who is communicating through you, it may not come to you as an actual voice. It’s possible to receive the information you write by just knowing. If you feel comfortable with this technique, just let yourself be open to the thoughts that enter your mind from your unconscious. Chances are that much of what is written will be validated by an experience that is yet to come, such as a conversation with someone in the near future.

Write While You Travel

You may use astral projection to help you visit other places and other times. You can use the type of induction that helps you travel in your mind and add the suggestion that you will be able to write down the experience as you go to your destination. You can use your senses of touch, smell, taste, hearing, and sight, or you can be an observer and report on what you observe. Always make sure you are grounded when you write and travel.

Writing from Your Unconscious

Writing from Your Unconscious

If you choose to use automatic writing to tap into your unconscious, you have the option of dealing with the past or the future. In terms of writing about the past, you may want to tap into a soul memory. If this is the case, you probably already have a specific time period in mind that you want to write about. Remember your five different senses: seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling. Use the images that are the strongest for you so that you can step into the image in your mind.

You may begin to feel like you are observing a play. Make sure you let yourself describe as much of the action and surroundings in all your sense imagery possible. You may hear sound or voices. If so, write down what you are hearing. Listen for as many sounds as possible, and make sure you note them as you write.

You may find that you are actually experiencing the images you are recording while you are in your automatic writing trance. If this is the case, record the emotions, the temperature, tastes, sights, and smells that surround you. You may become a character in the story. Perhaps you are able to step into your writing and experience whenever you want, and at other times step back and watch the action. Some of you may be able to do just one or the other.

Where do these psychic experiences come from? Is it just your imagination, or did you tap into a source of knowledge of the past? Perhaps it is a memory of a past life or images given to you by the Universal Mind, or maybe you have tapped into another dimension of time. These questions are up to you to decide.

After you have finished your session, allow yourself some time to readjust to the present. As you look back over your experience, remember that you stepped into a hologram, whose purpose was to switch your focus from your reality into the reality of the images experienced through your unconscious mind. If you were unaware of what you were writing, it may not make any sense at first. Review your collected data and make notes to help establish your goals for your next session.

Looking into the Future

Writing about the future is not very different. If you’d like to write science fiction and would like to get a more realistic view of the future, you have the option of asking for guidance of the Universal Mind. Remember that if you are able to see into the future, it is a gift you were born with, and all you are doing is developing ways that you can use it to help others and yourself stay in tune with life potentials.

Your intuitive imagination can give you great future-tense stories. If you work with your guidance systems, all you will need to do is enter your automatic writing trance and let the writing begin. Once you get comfortable with the process, you may think of the process as being much the same as going to a play or the movies. All you have to do is let the story be written through you.

Give yourself the suggestion that as you write, you will experience what goes through you in all of your senses. You may also ask that when you end a session, you do not also come to the end of a segment. This suggestion will help your unconscious mind continue to work on the story while you are in your waking state. By the time you start your next automatic writing exercise, the material to be set down is ready and waiting. All you need to do is establish a consistent time when and where you can experience your automatic writing without interruptions.

How to Practice Automatic Writing

How to Practice Automatic Writing

By

Automatic writing is an old form of divination in which messages seem to come out of nowhere through your hand and onto paper. Some who have attempted this form of mediumship have written lengthy messages, songs — even complete novels.
Difficulty: Hard
Time Required: 15 minutes to an hour

Here’s How:

  1. Find a quiet spot without distractions.
  2. Sit at a table or desk where you’ll be comfortable, with paper and pen (or pencil).
  3. Take a few moments to clear your mind.
  4. Touch the pen or pencil to the paper.
  5. Try not to consciously write anything.
  6. While keeping your mind as clear as possible, let your hand write whatever comes across.
  7. Avoid looking at the paper; you might even keep your eyes closed.
  8. Give it time to happen (nothing might happen for quite a while).
  9. When it seems to be done, if and when automatic writing does occur, look over what your hand has produced carefully. The writing may appear to be nonsense or just scribbling, but try to decipher it as best as possible.
  10. In addition to letters and numbers, look for pictures or symbols in the writing as well.
  11. Keep trying. Nothing might happen your first few attempts.
  12. If you start to achieve success, you can try asking questions to see if you can receive responses.

Tips:

  1. There is no guarantee that automatic writing will work for you, but don’t give up if it doesn’t work the first few times. Give it a chance.
  2. Be aware of psychological dangers. Some messages that come across might be disturbing. If you’re at all not able to handle this possibility, don’t attempt automatic writing.

Automatic Writing

Automatic Writing

There are two kinds of automatic writing. One is a channeling process in which the writer is serving as a medium for a spirit who guides the author’s hand over paper (or the computer keyboard!), producing writing that ranges from letters and memoirs to poems and even entire novels. The other kind of automatic writing involves allowing the unconscious mind to take over and guide your hand, as it writes down things you were not consciously aware of, such as your soul’s memories of previous lives.

As you might expect, the definition of exactly what takes place during the process of automatic writing is subject to debate. Some believe that you are stepping aside and letting your spirit guides speak for you in this process. Others think that other entities may be communicating through you. Whatever the process, the goal is for you to find a resolution of a situation or condition through your writing that you would not have found otherwise.

A hypnotic writing trance can be experienced at different levels. It is entirely possible that you could be in such a deep state that you were totally unaware of what your hands or fingers were doing. At the same time, you may be aware of the process, but you may not recognize the message until it is given to you to put down on paper or enter into your computer.

Automatic writing doesn’t even have to be writing. Some people can go into a trance and record what they are moved to say, or they may have someone else write down what they are saying. While some psychics accept this form as automatic writing, others argue that it’s simply channeling. You will have to come to your own conclusion, but it may help you to compare this example with the case of a musician who can compose a beautiful piece of music and yet cannot write musical notation — someone else has to write it down so others may play it.

Therapeutic Automatic Writing

Therapeutic automatic writing can help you gain a different perspective on certain events or conditions in your life that need resolution. Just as with a pendulum, the goal is to access your unconscious mind and receive answers to your questions without the interference of your conscious mind. For instance, the words could tell a story that is symbolic of your situation as it could be seen through someone else’s eyes. It is possible that you may not even be aware of what you are writing, and the information could be in complete sentences or fragments and short phrases.

Automatic Poetry

Perhaps you already enjoy writing poetry, but did you know that your hobby is therapeutic? That’s because it offers you the opportunity to use verse and symbolism to work out and understand things that may be troubling you. It is possible that you have already been involved in some sort of an automatic trance state to help you, and you may not have been aware of what you were doing. If this is the case, it may be a good time to review your writing and look for the holographic second theme that relates to you.

Channeling Spirits

Channeled written works have been in and out of public favor for the past century. Madame Blavatsky had much to do with the rise in the interest of channeling in the latter part of the nineteenth century. Since that time, there has always been a small interest in the subject with periods of wider publicity, especially during the 1960s, when Jane Roberts published her channeled series of Seth books. Many successful writers are channeling and don’t even know it. For those fortunate few, all they have to do is sit at their keyboard, or get a pencil and paper, and let the words come through.

It is possible that you may become the voice for an entity from another world. You may start to write down messages from beings from other planets. These voices may serve as warnings for the peoples of the earth, with predictions of dire consequences if they do not change their negative and destructive ways. It is always your choice as to whether or not you want to write down these messages from beyond. Many times this type of automatic writing echoes the basic truths of universal consciousness.

If you are using automatic writing to channel other entities, you need to make sure that you are grounded — otherwise, you may get results similar to playing with the Ouija board. You might become a voice for a spirit that does not have your best interests in mind. Some spirits may be looking for a way to get their negative messages out. If you are not prepared, one of these spirits may take advantage of you. Always ask your Belief that the information going through you is from a source connected with universal love and peace, and is of the purest intent for all concerned.

Palm Marks and Patterns

Palm Marks and Patterns

In addition to major lines, the palm contains lots of smaller lines and other markings. There may be tiny crisscrossed lines, loops, and other lovely little patterns. No matter how incidental these shapes and patterns may seem, your hands have carried all of these markings since about the third month of fetal development inside your mother’s womb.

A General Overview

First, take a look at the overall texture of the palm in order to get a suitable starting point for reading the ridges and patterns contained in the palm. If the ridges in your palm are smooth and soft to the touch, you likely have refined tastes and are the quiet and sensitive type. If your ridges are wider and deeper, creating a rougher texture, you are athletic, action-oriented, and sharper psychologically because of your positive, outgoing attitude.

While it’s possible for your hand to have no visible patterns, most hands have at least one type of pattern and a high percentage of hands have several.

Look for Shapes in the Patterns

Now that you have a good sense of the feel and texture of your palm, take a deeper look at the skin patterns on it. Do they form any particular shapes?

There are thirteen basic markings that can appear on the palm of the hand, and each has a special meaning:

  • Chains: Someone who is “bound” by worry.
  • Islands: Loss through difficulty or challenge.
  • Dots: Indication of a surprise or a shocking event.
  • Branches: Rising branches are a sign of good fortune; branches falling toward the wrist are a sign of potential failure.
  • Broken lines: A shift or change in life, or an inability to see things through.
  • Forks: Choices pertaining to whichever major line is closest (heart, head, or life).
  • Circles: Usually, circles predict great fame and fortune; however, you will rarely encounter them.
  • Triangles: Portend great psychic or spiritual abilities.
  • Squares: Ability to teach, motivate, or inspire others.
  • Crosses: Obstacles or blockages on the way; burdens that may hold you back from achieving your dreams.
  • Tassels: Not typically seen on the hand; can represent scattered energies or unmanifested ideas.
  • Grilles: Represent lots of starting and stopping with respect to life’s endeavors.
  • Stars: The most auspicious markings on the palm; people with stars usually achieve tremendous fame — or lasting notoriety.

Pay Attention to Loops

Loops are typically found on the webbing between fingers and on finger mounts (the puffy underside of the knuckles of your hand). Loops of vocation or career, found between the ring and the middle finger, show how dedicated you are to your career. If they are large and open, you are probably open to others’ input. If small and refined, you are likely an entrepreneurial spirit who prefers solitary work.

Loops of bravery or courage are found just above the joint area of the thumb, near the thumb webbing. If you have one of these, you are fearless in your life’s pursuits.

Check your hand for the “crowd factor.” If there are lots of lines and patterns crowded together, it means you have an active imagination and like to learn. Having fewer lines is a sign of a more evolved soul.

Loops of humor or good cheer occur between the index and middle finger and point to a healthy sense of humor that draws others to you, while a loop on the Luna mount (the outside part of the palm between the pinky and the wrist) shows a marked ability to communicate with animals and nature. For more on loops and how to identify them, see Chapter 7.

Shapes That Predict Creativity

If you have several skin ridge patterns that seem to flow into each other to form a triangular shape, that shape is your focal point for creative energy. If you have a “tri-radius” mark on your index finger mount, it typically means that you focus your creative energy on leadership; if it occurs near your third finger mount, you are much more intellectual.

Whorls (unusual circular skin patterns) are a good indication of future greatness in creative endeavors. If you are an artist, writer, or performer, check your palm for any unique markings such as a whorl of music (typically found on the Venus mount, which is the padded section near the thumb) or a whorl of Luna (on the Luna mount). These two whorls signal marked artistic intensity and talent, and are rare finds.

Inspecting the Palm Lines

Inspecting the Palm Lines

Once you’ve examined the general shape of the hand, take a look at the palm. The first things you should notice are the main lines. Lines basically come in four different varieties: deep, clear, faint, or broken.

Deep lines indicate a person who is full of life and who is certain or direct about their needs and desires. These people have absolutely no difficulty in attaining their goals in life — and they don’t let anyone or anything get in their way!

Clear, easy-to-read lines that are plain to see but not exceptionally deep typically belong to peace-loving, even-tempered people. These individuals are often the peacemakers in their families, and others look to them for their fair and objective insights.

People with faint lines often have lots of nagging health problems caused by years of worry or indecision. Often timid and reserved, these people would rather have others lead them in particular situations; they hate having to take action, especially for their own well-being — they prefer having someone else take care of them.

Broken lines indicate abrupt or traumatic changes in life. A broken line coming off the life line can mean a major shift in lifestyle or personal well-being. A broken line off the heart line may mean a dramatic change in relationship status, such as divorce or separation.

Long lines on the palm mean that you have well-developed interests and pursue them with a passion, while short lines generally mean that you have many different interests and can be intensely involved with each one — until the next opportunity presents itself.

Horizontal lines on the palm generally mean conflict or separation, while vertical lines point to a tendency toward people pleasing. Double lines mean that you have spiritual guidance in the form of an ancestral spirit, spirit guide, or angel — and this guidance pertains to the area of your life that the double lines are closest to (either heart, head, or life line).

While not completely conclusive until the rest of the palm reading has been complete, palm lines can tell you a lot about the basis or foundation of your life.

Your Hand’s Shape

Your Hand’s Shape

The general shape of your hand tells a palm reader a lot about your general character. The easiest way to get a quick read on someone is to look at the shape his or her hands form — and to correlate each shape with a particular personality type. In palmistry, there are four basic shapes and one hybrid or mixed shape.

Each type of hand represents one of four elements that the ancients believed composed all matter of our world: Conical hands are said to be “air” hands; pointed hands are “water” hands; spatulate hands are “fire” hands; and square hands are “earth” hands.

The Conical or Artistic Hand

Conical hands are round, sensual, and feminine in appearance. People with these hand shapes typically have a deep appreciation for the arts or, if the hands feature lots of curved lines, are artists or creators themselves.

Quiet, sensitive, and imaginative, they are nonviolent people who seek solace through music, art, literature, and love. The conical hand is called the air hand, since this element most closely captures the free spirit of the type.

The Pointed or Psychic Hand

Long, delicate, and tapered fingers that characterize the pointed hand lead palmists to conclude that the fingers point to spiritual truths. This is why the pointed hand is always referred to as the psychic hand — and, in truth, the vast majority of those who have pointed hands do have psychic or intuitive ability.

If your hands are pointed and you don’t think you are the least bit psychic, it could mean that you have the power but have chosen not to develop it at this point in your life. Whether or not you become a psychic practitioner in the future, your intuition and creative energy are already powerful, and you tend to have a tremendous amount of compassion or empathy for others. Pointed hands are often called water hands because of their deep sensitivity and intensity.

The Spatulate or Action-Oriented Hand

If your hand is narrow at the wrists, but wider toward the fingertips, you have what is called the spatulate hand. You are action-oriented and love unusual adventures; it’s not unlike you to pack your bags and head to India for a spell, and then go on a skiing trip to Colorado the next month.

An explorer of people, places, and ideas, you are daring, energetic, and fearless, often challenging the ideas or positions of others who aren’t as open-minded as you. Your energy is boundless; you tend to leave others breathless, unable to catch up with you. Spatulate hands are often called fire hands, since that element most closely captures the personality traits of vitality and dynamism.

The Square or Practical Hand

A square hand appears to form a perfect square from the finger bases to the wrists. People with square hands are smooth, easygoing types who are very practical in nature and have a realistic outlook on life. They are rooted in their daily lives, and while they are friendly and outgoing, they also have a tendency to evaluate every situation as black or white, with very little left to interpretation. Still, because they are so sensible and level-headed, family and friends regularly seek them out to help mediate or settle volatile situations.

Square-handed people are most often drawn to careers that require hard work and persistence, since they excel in tackling large and difficult projects. Because they are practical and down-to-earth, these people are said to have “earth” hands. With the square-handed, what you see is what you get!

The Mixed Hand

Although it’s quite a rarity, every once in a while you’ll see a hand that has elements of two or more of the five shapes and types. Palmists call these hands mixed. For an accurate reading of a mixed hand, you’ll need to look for the dominant feature of the hand.

For instance, if you see that the palm itself is basically square but the fingers are long, it could mean that the person seems by outward appearance to be dreamy and intuitive, but that inwardly he is actually strong, practical, and even-minded. If all seems balanced in the hand, your mixed-hand person is completely versatile and has a steady, go-with-the-flow kind of attitude. Both temperaments have their positive and negative sides, but there is much to learn from the mixed-hand balanced individual.

Examining the Hand Spread

Examining the Hand Spread

The spread of the hand tells you how you are perceived by others. When you turn your hands around so that the palms face outward, look closely at the spread of your fingers. Very close fingers connote a person who is very traditional and overly sensitive; fingers held further apart represent an unconventional, nontraditional thinker.

And what about the other fingers and their positioning on the hand? If all of your fingers lean toward the palm, you are possessive, reserved, and possibly even stingy. If they point outward toward the sky, you can be overly permissive and give until it hurts. A wider-than-usual gap between the thumb and first finger also connotes extreme generosity.

Look at your fourth (little) finger as it relates to your hand. Is it farther apart than the other fingers? Usually, a little finger that points outward and is spaced significantly apart from the third finger means that you have a quick temper and are not to be reckoned with when upset! If your index finger seems to be spaced farther apart from the other fingers on your hand, you have strong leadership potential and can be a trendsetter.

*Note – Hands that are very hairy on top can affirm masculinity in a man; a man whose hands are soft and free of hair often turn out to be meek and introverted. Women with more hair on their hands tend to be highly assertive and even aggressive at times, whereas women with smooth, hairless hands are of delicate constitution.

Overall Appearance of the Hand

Overall Appearance

Before taking a deeper look into the lines on the hand, you should always begin with an overall assessment of the hand itself. Hands come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes; to get a clear picture of the personality type you’re dealing with, it’s important to start with a good reading of the more general aspects of the hand’s outward appearance.

Here are the main aspects of the hand you’ll want to examine closely as you begin your palm reading:

  • Size. In general, people with small hands tend to act quickly and perhaps impulsively; those with very small hands are generally free, independent-minded thinkers. On the other hand, those with larger hands tend to be more methodical and thoughtful about their big decisions in life. People with average hands are easygoing — they react according to each situation and its own unique circumstances and are not as predictable.

You can learn a lot about a person just from a handshake. Sweaty palms indicate nervous tendencies; patches of blotchy skin signal circulatory problems. Some of these things are self-evident — in other words, you don’t need to be a psychic to know that someone with sweaty palms is a nervous type.

  • Color or consistency. Color represents life or vitality. If the palms are pale — white, gray, or even bluish — there are definitely health challenges (most likely circulatory in nature); red hands mean you are quick to anger; yellow, jaundiced hands mean you have a pessimistic outlook; and pink hands mean you are well-balanced and have a healthy outlook.
  • Thickness. Tilt the hand sideways and look at its width. Is it thin or thick? Thick hands belong to easygoing, noncompetitive people; thin hands belong to goal-oriented, driven, or ambitious people who are on a specific mission in life.
  • Texture. Fine, soft skin indicates refined tastes and usually belongs to the culturally or artistically inclined. Firm skin shows a healthy blend of physical and intellectual pursuits. Coarse, rough, or scaly skin indicates a more adventuresome, outdoorsy type for whom gloves (and personal well-being) are an afterthought.
  • Movement. How does the hand move? Does it seem flexible? If it is, the person is also likely to be flexible in his or her thinking and general demeanor. A general rule of palmistry is that the stiffer the hand, the stiffer the demeanor. Have you ever noticed a person with hands so stiff they almost seem mechanical? People with hands this stiff typically have mental or emotional difficulties, or have a hard time trusting others.

Take notes about each of these items. As you get deeper into the lines, ridges, and mounts of the hand, you’ll want to look back at your initial assessment to see how developed it’s become.

A Rewarding Inner Journey

A Rewarding Inner Journey

Although of course you may want to visit a professional palm reader, you can also do palm reading yourself, whether you read your own hands or the hands of others. Palm reading can be a richly rewarding experience along your path to in-depth personal understanding. Once you know what your personal challenges and opportunities are, you can better improve upon or capitalize on them to create a happier and more meaningful life. Reading the palms of others around you can greatly improve your communication. For instance, you can modify the way you communicate with an individual based on what you can guess about their personality, avoiding personality clashes before they become an issue.

If I do a reading for myself, how accurate would it be?

Once you’ve learned everything you can about palmistry, you can quickly and easily do a self-reading. However, an in-depth reading does require the ability to separate your wishes from the reality of your hand. One way of creating some distance is to use an inkpad or photocopier to create prints of your hand, then doing a reading from the copy.

Learning the ways of ancient and modern palmistry can open up a whole new way of seeing the world. It can help you achieve the true potential you were born with in this life while helping others to improve their lives by seeing themselves as they really are.

You don’t have to be a psychic medium to become a palmist — all you need is a wide-open mind and the willingness to be honest with yourself and others. Don’t be afraid to look at the challenges realistically rather than tell yourself or others only the things you or they would most like to hear. Remember, the future is all about potential and choice, so there’s nothing to be afraid of!

Now that you know you can effectively read your palms for yourself, why not set aside a quiet, meditative space for your first personal reading — or buddy up with a friend or family member to read each other’s palms? If you feel ready to try a reading of your own, you’re ready to move on.

Introducing Palm Reading

Introducing Palm Reading

Palmistry was first practiced in ancient China and India, where it appeared over 3,000 years ago. Like other forms of divination, it originally had other uses—ancient sages used palm reading to make character and personality assessments and to provide counseling. Some professional palm readers still use this method today.

Just about anyone can learn how to read palms—you don’t even need to have psychic ability or powerful intuitive skills. Once you learn the combinations of lines, sections of the hand, and other essential details, you can read any hand (including your own) and make a valid interpretation. And when you start getting good and have some experience, you might even come up with a few new theories of your own.

The most important thing to remember about palmistry is that, like other forms of divination, it’s meant to show you opportunities and possibilities available to you in your lifetime. It won’t tell you exactly the way things are supposed to go. In fact, all professional hand analyzers agree that the lines in your hand change according to life decisions you make along the way. Remember free will? We make our own destiny.

The Scrying Reading

 The Scrying Reading

Pick a place and a time in which you will not be disturbed for a while. Remove anything that is distracting or disturbing. You may want to cover the table with a cloth that is pleasing but not distracting. Use common sense about music, lighting and incense. Set the tool on the table. Cast a circle of protection around you and the table. If the scrying is for another person, they may or may not be there when the circle is cast. The circle can be conjured as a circle of protection and with the stipulation that certain people will be allowed in without breaking it, or the conjuration may be done mentally. If this is the case, the circle can be done while centering and grounding.

When all is ready, unwrap or uncover the scrying instrument and place your hands over it and say: “May the Gods be present here to aid me in this reading. So mote it be.” This may be said aloud or silently within.

Look at the tool as you did in the candle exercise. Allow yourself to drift into it. Allow the darkness to surround you, to blot out the “material world”. Allow yourself to see only inside the tool, deeper and deeper inside. Keep in mind the person wanting the reading whether it is yourself or someone else. When you have gone deep inside, allow a point to move toward you and to grow. Or maybe you see a cloudy area that begins to thin out. Allow it to turn into a picture, a scene, a feeling, a smell, or whatever presents itself. Allow it to flow. You may describe aloud what you are seeing or feeling, but you must be careful to realize that you are seeing impressions and symbols that may have many meanings. This is where the control within the surrender takes place. You must differentiate between imagination, personal remembrances, unknown visions of the past, visions of the known present, visions of the unknown present, and visions of the future events.

Watch the scene unfold and describe what you see. If there is another person present, have them take notes or use a tape recorder.

When the scene has exhausted itself or when you become too tired to continue, sit back and take a deep breath. Allow the present to return. When you are comfortable, open your eyes. Place your hands again on the scrying tool and either silently or aloud, thank the Gods for their help, and speed them well on their way. Cover or wrap the tool.

Take up the circle, either physically or mentally. Mare sure to have some refreshment available.

Practice Scrying Makes Perfect

Practice Scrying Makes Perfect

Like all forms of divination, constant usage will bring better results. It may be slow going, so the following practice may help.

You will need a candle, preferably white, in a candle holder, a table, chair and most of all, a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for a while.

Prepare the candle as above. Make sure that you are not disturbed by closing or licking the door, drawing the blinds, or whatever is necessary for your peace of mind. If quiet music is appropriate, put on a tape of CD, making sure that it will not finish before you do. You may want incense although if you dress the candle with a fragrant oil, the smoke from incense will not distract you.

Light the candle then extinguish all lights. Draw a circle or image of a circle of protection around you and the table. Sit in the chair facing the candle. Make sure that you are in a comfortable position. Center and ground. When you feel ready, look at the candle flame. Observe the various colorings and shading in the flame. Notice the shape of the flame, how the bottom is wide and round and tapers up. See the round indentation near the wick, and the wavering tip where the got gasses move up and out.

Now look at the center of the flame while allowing your vision to broaden to see the halo, the aura, the corona around the flame. You may at this time see and feel the clouding from the sides of your vision moving in and blocking out everything else you could see in the room. There will be just blackness with the candle in the center. There is no reason for fear. Be assured that in surrendering your self at this time, will not make you vulnerable. You have the power to stop the exercise at any time. When you feel absolutely comfortable, continue.

Watch the aura of the candle glow. Use your mind to move the aura from smaller to larger. Increase the size of the aura as you make the candle flame get taller. Change the brightness of the flame from bright to dim and back again. Notice the color of the flame and change it. Make it into a rose color and gradually turn it into a blue flame and finally into gold.

After you have played with the flame for a while, sit back, relax, close your eyes if you need to. When you are ready, get up, take up the circle, mentally or physically. Turn on the lights and walk around. You may find that you are hungry or thirsty now. Satisfy this urge. Psychic work take up quite a bit of energy.

This exercise may not be completely successful the first time you do it, but it can be done on a regular basis to increase your abilities.

Let’s Talk Witch – The Art of Scrying

THE ART OF SCRYING

(L.< scruatari = to look at) is a form of divination which uses crystals, crystal balls, water, fire or other shiny objects of fascination as the focus.

Essentially, the person doing the scrying focuses attention on the tool being used and freeing the mind, allows thoughts, ideas, pictures as a television screen. The size of the picture depended upon the size of the object and like the TV, it had to be tuned in to get the best picture.

Learning to scry can be frightening to the uninitiated. It takes a certain amount of control as well as submission, to get results. What is meant is that when focusing on the tool, you must have your mind free of extraneous things, things that pull your attention away. You must also allow yourself to be open to impressions, and not be distracted with the clouds or vapors that form in the periphery of your vision. Trying to control the situation can interfere with the results, the control should be done before the scrying begins.

There are various tools that can be used. They are as follows:

1- The crystal ball. This is the most popular tool for scrying. The ball can be glass, crystal or plastic. The most common are balls formed from optical quality glass that are ground round and polished to be absolutely clear. The most expensive are those that are ground and polished quartz, amber or other clear material. The third and the least expensive are cast out of acrylic plastic. The plastic one scratches more easily and takes more care, but works non-the-less.

2- The scrying stone. This is a polished crystal that is usually worn around the neck. It is not necessary that the shape be a sphere. Since the shape is less important, a lot of individuality can be shown. The size, shape, color and personal preference produce a large variety of possibilities.

3- The Magic Mirror. This is a sheep of glass that is painted black on the back side. The most common magic mirror is a large clock face that is painted black on the convex side. Scrying is done by using the concave side.

4- The scrying cup. This is an ordinary tea cup that has the inside painted black. For scrying, water is poured into the cup and the person doing the scrying looks into the water.

5- Sometimes an ordinary bowl is used. Water is poured into the bowl and black ink is added to make a black opaque surface.

6- Fire. Some people are drawn into fire, such as a campfire. The red glow of the coals seem to move and dance and play out a fiery scene. The flame of a single candle works really well and can be used for exercise in scrying. More on this later.

The Witches Magick for Jan. 31st – Ouija Board Magick

Ouija Board Magick

You will need:

1 Ouija Board

1 Candle (preferably white)

Incense ingredients for burning, incense sticks or aromatic oil for burners (optional)

Always have 2 or more people present for best results (it is not recommended for beginners to use the board alone)

Pen and paper

Conditions for a successful séance

Only have people present who are serious and respectful. If the board is used without care or in a joking manner, this can attract unwanted and potentially dangerous negative energies and spirits.

Do NOT drink alcohol or use any mind altering drugs including marijuana!

Clear your mind of all negative thoughts or distractions. Your mind must be clean and clear.

Anybody having any psychosis or psychological disorders or persons who are nervous, anxious or have addictive tendencies must not use the board.

Never ask questions relating to your own death or death of another person.

Keep your posture straight and do not cross your legs under the table.

Make sure you visually protect yourself and have faith that you are protected. Imagine a white light surrounding you and your friends. It is always a good idea to make an affirmation before you begin. For example, “With the power of the elements, spirit guides, angels and higher self, I and the users of this board are protected from all negative spirits, entities, energies and influences.” This is what I personally use, but you should say something that resonates personally to yourself.

One person should be the main person to ask any spirits to come forward and talk. This same person should be the one to close the board down at the end too (see “closing down the board”). Everyone should lightly place their fingertips on the planchette. The main person should start by asking for protection against any negative influences (by visualising a light around you and the participants and asking your spirit guides and higher self or angels to protect you and that you are only willing to communicate with spirits for your/our highest good).

Then ask if there are any spirits that would like to come forward and speak. Something along the lines of “Are there any spirits in the room that would like to speak to us. Please communicate with us by using the board only. When you are ready please move the planchette to YES or move it in circles”. It is safer if you ensure that the spirits only communicate through the board – make it certain that you are in control of the board and either ignore any other spiritual activity in the room (knocks, bangs, tapping, lights etc) or ask the spirit to either use the board or leave.

When you receive contact through the board ensure that you thank the spirit that has come forward (it is very important that you remain at all times with utmost respect and gratitude). When receiving an answer to your question, each letter must be clearly visible in the hole of the planchette – if it is between letters, ask the spirit to reconfirm the letter and it should move to the correct one. ALL fingers (2-4 fingers per person) must remain on the planchette at all times.

It can take up to 15-20 minutes before any spirit will come forward to talk. Remain calm, keep your fingers on the planchette and clear your minds apart from focusing on the planchette. If nothing happens then slowly move the planchette yourselves in large circles around the board a few times, then pause and wait – usually the spirit will take over from here. If you still have no luck after about 45 minutes then close down the board and try it another evening.

Suggestions to ask

Asking the name of the spirit is always a good question to start with.

Occasionally spirits cannot or do not wish to answer certain questions so respect their silence and do not ask the same question over and over again. Ask once, once again to confirm and that is all.

Ask if the spirit is a good spirit. If the planchette goes to NO, it is advisable to close down the board and wait at least half an hour before attempting to make contact again.

You can ask any general questions about your own life, for example:
How can I live better?
What am I doing wrong?
Am I in the right job?
What can I do to improve my life/situation etc?

Note: Take the answers like you would anything else that somebody tells you (alive or dead). Do not revolve your life around answers you may receive as they may be inaccurate.

Closing down the board

This is extremely important! The board MUST be closed down properly at the end of each and every séance. Start by thanking the spirits for coming forward and talking with you. Wish them peace and say Goodbye. The spirit should move the planchette to GOODBYE and you may pack up the board.

If the spirit does not move the planchette to GOODBYE, then tell the spirit that you are saying goodbye and that you ask they do the same. If the spirit STILL refuses to leave, then you must move the planchette to GOODBYE and in a stern strong voice say GOODBYE and LEAVE out loud. Remove your fingers from the planchette. If you feel that is not enough you can also slam the planchette down on a hard surface (obviously take care not to break it!) or pass it through a candle flame if it is not made of flammable material.

WOTC Extra – Some Ouija Board Do’s & Don’ts

WOTC Extra – Some Ouija Board Do’s & Don’ts

We have all heard many stories about the Ouija board so what do we believe? That’s for you to decide. But we figured we would give you a few pointer’s we have learned in order to help keep you safe from the Ouija board and it’s spirits during your Ouija session. These are the same thing as superstitions only people call them “Ouijastitions”.Weather you are superstitious or not you might want to take some of these precautions while using the board. Its The same thing as “It’s bad luck when a black cat walks across your path”,”Don’t walk under ladder’s”,”If you break a mirror it’s 7 years bad luck”.Only dealing with the Ouija board.

– Never use the Ouija Board when you are in an ill or weakened condition. This can lead to all kinds of trouble and makes the person more vulnerable to possession.(For more on possession…see the next page)

-Often times the spirits contacted through the board create “wins” for the user causing he or she to become more and more dependent on the board. For example, a spirit might tell the truth about a future event to gain the trust of the user. The user begins to consult the board more and more and eventually become addicted, not wanting to do anything but spend time with the spirit. This is known as “Progressive Entrapment”.

– Since there is no way of truly knowing if a spirit is good or evil it is important to keep in mind that the spirits will often use false flattery and lies to gain your confidence. Be careful.

-Always be respectful to the spirits.

-Sometimes an evil spirit will permanently inhabit a board. When this happens no other spirits will be able to communicate though that Ouija Board.

-Beware … if the planchette begins to count down through the letter of the alphabet or the numbers the spirit can escape form the board.

-If the planchette moves to the four corners of the board an evil spirit has been contacted.

-Never use the Ouija in a graveyard or a place where a terrible death has occurred. Playing in these places might cause terrible manifestations.

-Witch Boards are named such because witches once used them to summon demons.

-Avoid playing the Ouija Board alone. This increases your chances of becoming possessed by a spirit or demon.

-Ouija Boards that are not properly disposed of will return to haunt the owner.

-If you Burn the Ouija Board it will scream.

-If you place a silver coin on the board,It is said that no evil spirits can come through.

-Never leave the planchette on the board when you are not using it.

-To properly dispose of the Ouija Board break it into seven pieces, pour holy water on it and bury it.

Maybe all this is just Ouija folklore passed down something like an urban legend but it’s your choice to believe it or not…

Let’s Talk Witch – Ouija Boards

Let’s Talk Witch – Ouija Boards

The Ouija board is what many believe can be used to communicate with the spirits of the dead. Although there is no scientific proof to support this belief it should be pointed out it is not a game and many people have suffered many psychological problems. This is not to say that it is purely in the minds of those that have been exposed to Ouija boards as always the power of the mind and its’ capabilities are still as yet unclear when dealing with spititual matters.

The name “ouija” comes from the French and German words for yes, “oui” and “ja.” There are many different types of Ouija Boards all have different layouts and are made from different materials. The board usually consists with the letters of the alphabet, 0-9 in numbers and the words, “Yes” and “No.” The user or users of the board then lightly touch a pointer (sometimes called a planchet) and the pointer moves and spells out the answers to questions asked of it. Usually this pointer is mounted on castors to help it move freely about the board.

They became very popular in the 1960’s being sold in many countries as a board game although they were eventually withdrawn from main shopping outlets because of the stigma that was attached to them by the media.
Some believe that the Ouija offers proof as to life after death. Others, though, believe that the answers to the ouija come from the unconscious mind of one or all of the sitters. In a similar type of way in which Tom Lethbridge argues that dowsing works.

It must be stated that persons of a nervous disposition can be frightened easily when using a ouija board and it is suggested that they should therefore avoid them. It must also be pointed out that there is no scientific proof that they actually work, although there have been many claims over the years. The Ouija board is not a game and should be treated with care, preferably there should be a medium/psychic who has experience present at all times.

THE LAWS OF MAGIC

THE LAWS OF MAGIC

The Laws of Magic are not legislative laws, but, like those of physics or
musical harmony, are actually fairly practical observations that have been
accumulated over thousands of years. These laws describe the way magic seems to behave.  Most of these laws will make sense to you (I hope), and even the more
obscure ones should make some sense to you, but if they don’t, ignore them, or
send me some e-mail, and I will try to explain.

The LAW OF KNOWLEDGE: This is probably the most widely used law, and probably encompasses all the others in some way.  The basis of this law is that
understanding brings control.  The more that is known about a subject, the
easier it is to exercise control over it.  Knowledge is power.

The LAW OF SELF-KNOWLEDGE: An obvious derivative of the LAW OF KNOWLEDGE, this law carries additional connotations, as a mage who does not have knowledge of himself does not have knowledge (and therefore control) of his own magic.  This law is one of the reason’s “evil” mages are very rare – a dedication to “evil for evil’s sake” is usually do to a lack of introspection and awareness of oneself.  It is difficult to do harm to others when you understand fully what that kind of harm would do to you.  Know thyself.

The LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT: A simple scientific understanding – if exactly the same actions are done under exactly the same conditions, they will be associated with exactly the same results. Magicians have at least as much belief in cause and effect as modern physicists do, they just realize that a good ritual, like a good theatrical performance or a good bread recipe, isn’t always predictable. In truth, a spell involves so many variables, that controlling or even
understanding them all is impossible.  The key to magical success is learning
which variables are the most important, and how to keep them constant.  Control
over the variables is icing on the cake.

The LAW OF SYNCHRONICITY: Two or more events happening at the same
time are likely to have more in common than the merely temporal. Very few events ever happen in isolation from other events.  There is no such thing as a mere coincidence.

The LAW OF ASSOCIATION: If any two pattern have elements in common, the patterns interact “through” those common elements, and control of one pattern facilitates control of the other(s) depending (among other factors) upon the number of common elements involved.  This is a very important law, up there with the LAW OF KNOWLEDGE.

The LAW OF SIMILARITY: Having an accurate physical or mental represent-tion of something facilitates control over it.  This one is fairly obvious in it’s usage
– having a model, picture, or other representation of your target (like a voodoo
doll) gives you power to effect the target.  Look alikes are alike.

The LAW OF CONTAGION: Objects or beings in physical contact with each other continue to interact after separation.  Everyone you have ever touched has a magical link with you, though it is probably pretty weak unless the contact was
intense and/or prolonged or repeated frequently.  Magical power is contagious.
Naturally, having a part of someone’s body (nails, hair, spit, etc.) gives the
best contagion link.

The LAW OF NAMES: Knowing the complete and TRUE name of an object, being, or process gives one complete control over it.  This works because a name is a definition (yes, even “Harold”, “Marie”, “Kunte”, and “Jasmine” were at one
time) as well as a contagion link, and an association (if you call something the
same name over and over, that name becomes associated with the thing).  This
also works, because knowing the complete and true name of something or someone means that you have achieved a complete understanding of  it’s or their nature. This is why, in most pre-industrial cultures, people are given “secret names”, as well as “public names”, and why the sharing of a secret name is such an act of  trust – because the secret name is considered to be very close to, if not
identical with, the person’s true name.

The LAW OF WORDS OF POWER: There exist certain words that are able to alter the internal and external realities of those uttering them, and the power may rest in the very sounds of the words as much as their meanings.  Many of such words are names, though the meanings may have been lost or forgotten.  Very many magical tools require words to be inscribed upon them and/or said over them during their construction and/or use.

The LAW OF PERSONIFICATION: Any phenomenon may be considered to be
alive and to have a personality – that is, to “be” an entity or being.  Anything
can be a person.  Most weather mages personify the winds and the clouds, for
example, and thus find focusing their magic on the atmosphere much easier to do.

The LAW OF INVOCATION: It is possible to establish internal communication with entities from either inside or outside oneself, said entities seeming to be
inside of oneself during the communication process.

The LAW OF EVOCATION: It is possible to establish external communication with entities from either inside or outside oneself, said entities seeming to be
outside oneself during the communication process.

The LAW OF IDENTIFICATION: It is possible through maximum association between elements of oneself and those of another being to actually become that being, to the point of sharing it’s knowledge and wielding it’s power.  This is the law that controls most lengthy or permanent possession phenomena.

The LAW OF PERSONAL UNIVERSES: Every sentient being lives in and quite possibly creates a unique universe which can never be 100% identical to that lived in by another.  So called “reality” is in fact a matter of consensus opinions.  This law is nowhere near as obvious as the other laws in it’s applications, but if
you can figure some out, you can use it.

The LAW OF INFINITE UNIVERSES: The total number of universes into which all possible combinations of existing phenomena could be organized is infinite.
Anything is possible, though some things are more probable than others.  You
might consider this to refer to the “alternate probability worlds” of science
fiction, but it also has a much wider application.

The LAW OF PRAGMATISM: If a pattern of belief or behavior enables a being to
survive and to accomplish chosen goals, then that belief or behavior is “true”
or “real” or “sensible”.  If it works, it’s true.  Another rather obscure law,
but it does have some very useful applications.

The LAW OF TRUE FALSEHOODS: It is possible for a concept or act to violate the truth patterns of a given personal universe and still be “true”, provided that
it “works” in a specific situation.  If  it’s a paradox, it’s still probably
true.  This law is basically useless, except to justify use of the above three
laws without screwing things up in your version of the real world.

The LAW OF SYNTHESIS: The synthesis of two or more “opposing” patterns of data will produce a new pattern that will be truer than either of the first two were. That is, it will be applicable to more levels of reality, and this new pattern
may not be a compromise, but may be something rather new indeed.

The LAW OF POLARITY: Any pattern of data can be split into (at least) two
“opposing” characteristics, and each will contain the essence of the other
within itself.

The LAW OF OPPOSITES: A sub-law of POLARITY.  The “opposite” of a pattern
contains information about that pattern, by providing information on what the
pattern is not.  Thus, control over a pattern’s opposite (or close to it’s
opposite) facilitates control over the pattern itself.  (Note that this one I
alone take the blame for, as it is my own extension of POLARITY and SIMILARITY)

The LAW OF DYNAMIC BALANCE: To survive, let alone to become powerful, one must keep every aspect of one’s universe in a state of dynamic balance with every other aspect.  Extremism is dangerous, as the extreme being becomes so
associated with the extreme aspect, that they lose the ability to avoid that
aspect at all.  This is another reason “evil” mages are rare, as continuous
association with pain or death will cause a mage pain or death, ending the
mage’s ability to continue actively with “evil”.  This is also why “good” mages,
especially healers, tend to live a long time.

The LAW OF PERVERSITY: Sometimes known as Murphy’s Law.  If  anything can go wrong, it will, and in the most annoying manner possible.  Magical associations sometimes operate in the reverse of what was desired, and meaningful coincidences are just as likely to be unpleasant as pleasant.  Even if nothing can go wrong, some element of the universe may change so that things will go wrong anyway.  Whether we like it or not, the gods (or fates, or what have you) do have a sense of humor.  Emotionally healthy mages have less problems with this law than others do, as the mages own subconscious mind is probably a major perpetrator of this law.

The LAW OF UNITY: Every phenomena in existence is linked directly or indirectly to every other one, past, present, or future. Perceived separations between  phenomena are based on incomplete sensing and/or understanding.
