MYTH #1
My spirit animal has to come in a special ceremony

I’ve seen spirit animals connect in the most mundane and the most astounding of circumstances. Just like there is no single path to God, there is no one way to relate with an animal guide. Mouse came to me while live trapping hundreds of mice for a scientific study. It was an inglorious job of repeatedly setting and checking traps, weighing mice, tagging their ears, determining their gender, and setting them free. Deer spirit animal made her presence known to me through a life purpose journey a shamanic practitioner performed on my behalf. A wild mountain lion came to me on a riverbank while I was all alone. We stood eye to eye for many moments before she quietly walked back into the woods. There’s no special ceremony needed, just contact that leads to consistent interaction

 

MYTH #2
Someone else needs to retrieve my spirit animal for me

Of all the beliefs around spirit animals this is the most limiting. Beware of the expert healer that tells you that the only way you will receive a spirit animal is through their ability. This is an invitation to hand your power over to someone else. Ultimately, we all need to practice discernment and decide for ourselves how we are going to connect with divine guides. I’m an adamant proponent of direct revelation. I believe that we have more
abilities than we give ourselves credit for, including the ability to claim our own spirit animals.

 

MYTH #3
I only get one spirit animal

I’m not sure where this one came from, but I know a lot of people live under this illusion. As the beneficiary of a community of dozens of spirit animals, this is a preposterous idea to me. Over and over in my years worth of work, I’ve seen a whole host of spirit animals flood in to assist people. They are eager to help, and one never seems to do. This doesn’t mean that we don’t have stronger bonds with some animals over others; it just means that we don’t have to limit ourselves so severely. It would be akin to explaining who we are using just a single word. Once we understand that our entire future, healing, power, or identity doesn’t hinge on one animal, we are much less afraid of what it will be.

 

Dispelling the Fears

FEAR #1
What if my spirit animal is stupid, silly, or weak?

An essential part of being human is worry about what other people will think of us. If we have what we think is a lame spirit animal we fear it will reflect poorly on us. Spirit animals do mirror either what we have inside or what we need to build inside. The thing is, no spirit animal is stupid, silly, or weak. That is our projection on them. When you take the time to pause and study the creature that’s come forward to help you, you have the grand opportunity to see what an amazing creature of God they are. The power in a mouse is their ability to see the details in life and this is a power that mouse calls us to embody. The power in skunk is to have our reputation precede us, in ant is to help us with hard work, and in beetle is to teach us about resurrection.

 

FEAR #2
I am afraid of snakes. What if that’s my spirit animal?

Many of us have animal phobias. Before I could walk, I was absolutely terrified of even the tiniest of spiders. Fear of an animal is common. Shifting that fear into a gift is not. To be able to face our fear and transmute it into a partnership is akin to the power of loving one’s enemies. This is one of the most potent of relationships with a spirit animal you can ever hope for. If you don’t feel like you are ready for this kind of encounter, don’t fret. You can politely invite another animal into your life to help you get started. The animal spirits are often kind enough to oblige our idiosyncrasies. Be gentle with yourself in the process. You’ll get there someday.

 

FEAR #3
What if I can’t SEE my spirit animal?

So often people are worried they won’t be able to envision their animal and then once they do they are worried they’ve made it all up. I say don’t stress it. Over time the animal will show up enough times in absolutely unrelated ways that you won’t be able to dismiss their presence. You’ll see them in your dreams, in waking reality, and in photos and videos when you aren’t intending to look. People will bring them up in conversation without your prompting. Stay open to the countless ways these guides
make their presence spontaneously known.

What is a Spirit Animal?


What is a Spirit Animal?

Simply put, a Spirit Animal, is a guardian angel that watches
over you, protects you and acts as your guide.

They are a considered a tutelary guide. “Tutelary” means to “serve as a protector, guardian,or patron.” Spirit Animals are saints in animal form. They also go by the names of power animal and totem animal.

Spirit Animals lend their power to us in the form of their innate gifts and talents. For example, a hawk lends us the power of being able to see far ahead as well as the ability to soar over our lives and get a big picture view.

Any living creature can be a spirit animal, but it is generally understood that most spirit animals are wild animals as our living domesticated pets are already in the service as our familiars. Pets that pass away can come back in spirit form to help, which would make them a spirit animal.

 

Animal Messengers vs. Spirit Animals

When we have a chance encounter with a living example of our spirit animal, it is believed that the living animal was either sent by our Spirit Animal or that the meeting was choreographed by our spirit animal. Living animals that visit us are considered “animal messengers” that are bringing specific guidance. When we build a relationship with a living being that is the same species as our spirit animal, we have the chance to learn more about the power our spirit animal carries.

We believe that we are separate from our animal guides. Our perceived separation from spirit animals is a reflection of the way we think we’ve taken ourselves out of nature. We can’t be apart from nature any more
than we can live without air or water. Spirit animals are an expression of who we are. Our spirit animals are already with us guiding our way on a moment-to-moment basis in the same way that our soul is always there talking to us. To hear the guidance we must we must first debunk some key myths and dispel a few dangerous fears.

This period belongs to the Dark Maiden and occurs when the Moon shrinks from full to dark, but it doesn’t mean that Her power is ebbing. In fact, it’s the perfect time to perform efforts that require any sort of shrinkage, elimination, or separation. Good candidates might include weight loss, poor health, debt relief, a gradual separation from damaging relationships, the termination of a bad habit, or the removal of some annoyance from your life. The Witches Spell for Tuesday, November 27th

(Perfect for the Waning Moon Phase)

Spell to Relieve Bad Habits

Materials
1 black candle
1⁄8 teaspoon ginger
Vegetable oil
Paper and pen
Permanent black marker
Fireproof dish

Anoint the candle with oil and roll it in the ginger, then light the candle and list all of your bad habits on the paper. If you like, increase the list by adding any unsavory characteristics you’d like to alleviate as well. Once you’re finished, use the marker to draw a big black X through everything on your list. Then muster up an attitude and throw the paper to the floor, stomping it with your feet, and screaming something like:

I stomp on you, you’re hurt and weak,
Your power’s gone, your future’s bleak

Pick up the paper and tear it to bits while yelling something like:

I tear you up, you cannot live
No more grief to me you’ll give

Dump the pieces of paper in the fireproof dish and laugh out loud at them. Then set them on fire, saying something like:

By flame of fire I take your life
In ash you cannot cause me strife

Finally, toss the ashes in the toilet and flush them down, saying:

And now into the sewer I throw
These things that used to cause me woe
I’ve flushed them from my life today
And away from me, they must now stay.

Let the candle burn out and know that these troubles are now history.

If your beliefs are out of alignment with your actions, if you are not self-aware or act-out unconsciously, being selfish or childish, than watch out, because squares test you to grow and change in some way. Often, this also means that you are suppressing your nature in some way, which is never really a good idea. When you suppress your Soul, it can make your human more sensitive or defensive, taking things personally as a threat or challenge. If you catch your Self feeling irritable for no apparent reason, try to step back and gain some perspective before responding to your own thoughts or another’s words. A purification of objects for ritual use and their transformation into magical items.

(The area is prepared by placing a quantity of each element in the proper quarter, as well as preparing the altar in the usual way. If available, a cauldron (empty) is placed in the center of the circle. Candles are placed at each of the four corners and lit, progressing deosil from the east. Salt and water are blessed, and the celebrants are purified with them. A magic circle is cast, and watchtowers summoned. The god is then drawn down as follows:
The priest stands before the alter in the Osiris position, arms crossed across chest and feet together. The Priestess kneels before him with face and arms upraised.)

Charging & Caring for Your Magickal Tools

Charging Magickal Tools

It doesn’t matter whether you make your own tools or purchase them ready-made. What’s important is that you “charge” them before you use them for magickal work. Until you charge your chalice, it’s just a goblet. The practice of charging it imbues it with your own energy and consecrates it for magickal purposes.

A charging ritual may be very simple or very complex—it’s your choice. One easy and popular technique for charging your tools calls upon the four elements, again in symbolic form. First, wash the tool to cleanse it of any ambient vibrations. Next, hold your tool in front of you and visualize your energy flowing into it.

Sprinkle the tool with saltwater and say aloud: “I charge you with water and earth.” Then hold it for a few moments in the smoke of burning incense while saying “I charge you with fire and air.”

Some witches design rituals that involve the element to which the individual tool corresponds. You could charge your chalice by submerging it in a sacred pool of water for nine days. Similarly, you could bury a pentagram in the ground beneath a venerable tree or place your wand in the sunshine to let the sun’s rays charge it. If you wish, you can include music, crystals, or essential oils in the ritual. Be creative—engage your imagination and your emotions in the process.

Caring for Magickal Tools

Although some witches display their tools on their altars, most people recommend storing tools in a safe place, such as a trunk or chest, when you’re not using them. Wrap them in silk to protect them from dust, dirt, and ambient vibrations. If you drink wine or another beverage from your chalice during a ritual, of course you’ll want to wash it before putting it away. However, there’s no need to wash your other tools after using them—the more you handle them and do magick with them, the more you imprint them with your energy.

It’s usually not a good idea to allow anyone else to handle your magick tools. If you work regularly with a magickal partner, however, you might make an exception for that person.

It is important to remember do not use your magickal tools for mundane purposes. Use a regular kitchen knife, not your athame, for cutting food and herbs, drink everyday beverages from an ordinary glass, not your ritual chalice. Reserve these tools for spell working and ceremonial occasions.

The Witch’s Tool Kit

All fields of knowledge and all trades employ special tools. The tools of the Craft speak to the subconscious mind in forms that help support magickal work. A tool’s shape, material, and other features provide clues to its symbolism and thus its role in magick. Although some of the items in a witch’s tool kit may look familiar, their magickal purposes differ significantly from their roles in the mundane world. Some of the tools witches favor are used by magicians of other stripes as well.

The Role of Tools in Magick

Witches and Wiccans will tell you that tools are good helpmates to magick, but they are not necessary to the success of any spell or ritual. Even the most elegant tool is only a centering device, something to focus your mind on your magickal work. Without the witch’s will and directed energy, the potential in any tool will remain dormant. For example, a witch might talk about quartz crystals as having energy-enhancing power, but until a crystal is charged and activated, that ability “sleeps” within the stone. The magician is the enabler, the catalyst. A focused will is all that any effective witch needs to perform magick. Everything else just makes the job easier.

Symbolism and Significances

As you’ve already seen, witches often use symbols to embody ideas. The primary tools witches employ in rituals—the wand, chalice, athame, and pentagram—symbolize the four elements. The wand represents the element of fire, the chalice signifies the water element, the athame symbolizes air, and the pentagram represents earth.

Notice that the shapes of these tools correspond to the human body. The wand and the athame, which symbolize masculine power, look distinctly phallic. The chalice (and cauldron) depict feminine energy and the womb. The five points of the pentagram stand for the five “points” of the body: head, arms, and legs.

You can see the four main tools illustrated in the tarot, too. Each suit in the deck is named for one of these tools: wands (sometimes called rods or staves), swords (or daggers, meaning athames), cups (or chalices), and pentacles (or pentagrams, sometimes called coins or disks). As such, they describe fundamental life energies and ways of interacting with the world.

Elder – a common sight on waste ground, in hedgerows and scrubby woodland all over the British Isles has one of the strongest reputations for faery and witch superstitions and magical protection of all the Ogham trees.

If it’s growing near your house, don’t cut it down without plenty of thought – especially if it chose your land and self-seeded there.

Traditionally, substantial protection for a home is granted by having a Rowan towards the front door and an Elder near the back. (And yes – I do!)

The tree grows best in slightly damp, fertile but neutral soil which is disturbed – so you often find it by roadsides and along banks where there are rabbits, badgers and foxes and in cemeteries. Wherever it once grew, the space was considered to be sacred as it is protected by the Elder Mother. It can grow to about 30ft, but to attain this rare size it needs plenty of light.

In late spring it is easily recognised for its huge saucers of white flowers, anything up to 9 ins across. This head is actually a cluster of tiny white petalled, yellow centred flowers which are much sort after, even in these days, for elderflower cordial syrup or champagne. They have a slightly odd scent which many people and animals don’t like.

The trees have opposite, pinnate leaves about 9 inches long, again with an odd scent which is rumoured to be able to keeps rats and mice away if spread on the floor of storage barns! The bark is smooth and slightly notched on young stems, becoming rough and deeply etched on the trunk and was used for a black dye.

The wood polishes up to a high shine and can be made into pretty beads. The stems are hollow and filled with a white pith that’s easily removed and have been used for centuries to make musical pipes and whistles – another proof of magic!

The pith, taken from bigger stems and sliced into rounds, was once soaked in oil and when lit could be floated in a dish of water.

At the end of the day, just before you go to bed, sprinkle the water from the bowl around your living space. First, go counterclockwise to banish negative energy that hinders free-flowing blessings. Then go clockwise, allowing Gujeswari’s water to cleanse and renew the ambiance in every room. If you have some left over, sprinkle your pets (for health), your car (for safety in travel), and children’s beds (to protect them from nightmares), and dab some on mechanical objects to keep them working smoothly.

On this date the Goddess Gujeswari Jatra is honored by the Hindus and Buddhists of Nepal. Activities fill the day beginning ning with prayers to the Goddess. MAKE YOUR OWN CLEANERS

Make your own cleaning products. Homemade cleaners are simple and a great way to save money.

WARNING: Never mix cleaning products containing bleach and ammonia, as dangerous fumes will result.

OVEN CLEANER
2 tablespoons dishwashing liquid
2 teaspoons borax
¼ cup ammonia
1–½ cups warm water

Mix the ingredients together, apply to oven spills, and let sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Scrub with an abrasive nylon-backed sponge and rinse well.

EASY SCRUB
¾ cup baking soda
¼ cup borax
dishwashing liquid

Combine the baking soda and borax. Mix in enough dishwashing liquid to make a smooth paste. If you prefer a pleasant smell, add ¼ teaspoon lemon juice to the paste.

JEWELRY CLEANER
¼ cup ammonia
¼ cup dishwashing liquid
¾ cup water

Mix all the ingredients well, then soak your jewelry in the solution for a few minutes. Clean around the stones and designs with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Buff dry. (Caution: Don’t use this with gold-plated jewelry; with soft stones such as pearls, opals, or jade; or with costume jewelry, because it could ruin the plastics or loosen the glue.)

HEAVY-DUTY DISINFECTANT CLEANER
¼ cup powdered laundry detergent
1 tablespoon borax
¾ cup hot water
¼ cup pine oil, or pine-based cleaner

Slowly stir the detergent and borax into the water to dissolve. Add the pine oil (available at hardware stores and supermarkets) and mix well. For bathroom cleaning, use the mixture full strength. In the kitchen, dilute it with water.

WOOD FLOOR POLISH
½ cup vinegar
½ cup vegetable oil

Mix the ingredients well, rub on the floor, and buff with a clean, dry cloth.

RUG CLEANER
¼ teaspoon dishwashing liquid
1 cup lukewarm water

Combine the ingredients. Use a spray bottle to apply the solution over a large area, or use the solution to spot-clean nongreasy stains. (Don’t use laundry detergent or dishwasher detergent in place of dishwashing liquid, as they may contain additives that can affect the rug’s color.)

TOILET CLEANER
1 cup borax
¼ cup vinegar or lemon juice

Combine the ingredients to make a paste. Apply it to the inside of the toilet bowl, let sit for 1 to 2 hours, and scrub.

MILDEW REMOVER
1 tablespoon powdered laundry detergent
1 quart chlorine bleach
2 quarts water

Combine all the ingredients in a pail. Wearing rubber gloves, wash off the mildew.

FLOOR WAX REMOVER
1 cup laundry detergent
¾ cup ammonia
1 gallon warm water

Mix all the ingredients together and apply to a small area of the floor. Let the solution sit long enough for it to loosen the old wax, at least 5 to 10 minutes. Mop up the old wax (or scrape it up, if there’s a lot of it, using a squeegee and a dustpan). Rinse thoroughly with 1 cup vinegar in 1 gallon water and let dry before applying a new finish.

FURNITURE POLISH
1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
1 tablespoon boiled linseed oil
1 tablespoon turpentine

Combine the ingredients in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake until blended. Dampen a cloth with cold water and wring it out until it’s as dry as you can get it. Saturate the cloth with the mixture and apply sparingly to a small area at a time. Let dry for about 30 minutes, then polish with a soft cloth. Note that this mixture gets gummy as it sits, so make just enough for one day’s work.

GLASS CLEANER
2 tablespoons ammonia
½ cup alcohol
¼ teaspoon dishwashing liquid
a few drops blue food coloring
water

Combine the ammonia, alcohol, dishwashing liquid, and food coloring, then add enough water to make 1 quart. If you prefer a nonammoniated cleaner, substitute 3 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice for the ammonia.

CARPET FRESHENER
1 cup crushed dried herbs (such as rosemary, southernwood, or lavender)
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda

Combine all the ingredients in a large jar or other container with a tight-fitting lid. Shake well to blend. Sprinkle some of the mixture on your carpet, let it sit for an hour or so, and then vacuum it up. It will give the room a pleasant smell and neutralize carpet odors.

SCRUBBING HAND GENERAL-PURPOSE CLEANER
1 teaspoon borax
½ teaspoon washing soda
2 teaspoons vinegar
¼ teaspoon dishwashing liquid
2 cups hot water

Combine all the ingredients. If you don’t have washing soda (generally found in the laundry section of supermarkets), use 1 teaspoon baking soda instead. For a more pleasant smell, use lemon juice instead of vinegar. Be sure to label the bottle accordingly.

We hope everyone has a very beautiful and delicious Thanksgiving. Also the gift of family, friends and lots love. Be thankful for what blessings you have in your life and never take them for granted.

We won’t be on the internet tomorrow. We are driving up to Eastern Kentucky for our family get together. The boys didn’t really like the turkey I made out of bologna. I thought it looked half way decent, it had some good legs on it, hot dogs. Now who else could think of that? Nobody in the right mind anyway. But we are leaving this afternoon and we are spending the night up there. We will be back either late Friday evening or Saturday morning. You know if there is no postings on here for Saturday, we might have been snowed in or flooded out. Goddess, I hope not. I love them to pieces but I believe anyone can only take so much of their relatives, then it is time to run.

I just wanted to let you know that we are headed for the hills and will be back Saturday. For those of you, like us, traveling this weekend, please be careful. Be sure to eat lots of turkey and dressing and don’t forget that all important nap after dinner.

However, the full moon conjunct Alcyone is not well-connected. Ptolemy assigned the planetary nature of the Moon and Mars to Alcyone, just like the tempestuous aspect it activates. The Pleiades can cause injuries to the eyes and face and even blindness, especially when in harsh aspect to Mars. [4] Alcyone brings deep sorrows, tragedies and bereavement. [5] It can make people cruel, ruthless and promiscuous. Hostility from other, fall from power, disgrace and violence are also possible.

A lot of the opportunities that may come to you at this full moon will be related to the events that occurred in your life around January 2015, when Saturn first entered the sign of Sagittarius.
