Be a nurturing influence for elders and children in your family circle as the moon makes its monthly union with Ceres (9:03 a.m.). Everything associated with the realms of nature receives a five-star rating. Innovative ideas about investments can be mulled over — thanks to a supportive, 60-degree alliance between Vesta in Aquarius and Uranus in Aries (6:40 p.m.).

The main cosmic headline of the day occurs later on during a union between the sun and Mercury at 6:53 p.m. (energizing 10 degrees of Aquarius). Astronomers designate this event as the Superior Conjunction of the sun and Mercury — where the Earth, the sun, and Mercury are lined up in the solar system, and Mercury is on the far side of the sun. Two eminent astrologers of the 20th century — Dr. Marc Edmund Jones and Dane Rudhyar — referred to this kind of heavenly event as a Full Mercury, where eager human minds can become more receptive to cosmic seed-ideas, eventually leading to new ways of thinking.

You Would Not have the Desire Without the Means to Fulfill it.

It has been said that inherent in every problem is its solution. It is the same with your desires. Some part of you believes that it is possible or you would not even have the desire.

Your Soul knows that certain desires are necessary for you to fulfill in order to accomplish your learning in this lifetime on Earth. These are not the desires that are stimulated by mass marketing. These desires are the ones that are often buried deep in the heart and are so precious that you may have to give yourself permission to even think about them.

Sometimes it is necessary to expand and stretch into the idea that all things are possible. It’s important that we not to allow ourselves to rule anything out when first a creative thought pops into our awareness. That may be only the beginning of a dream or a desire that we truly need to entertain for our life to have meaning and purpose. The dreams that keep coming into my awareness are the ones that I now know I need to pay attention to because my Soul keeps prompting me and the desire won’t go away.

We live in a world of pure potential where we create changes and new life abounds through the focus of our attention. As spirituality and quantum physics come together, the power of this truth has been proven through years of scientific experiments.

In this new and powerful time of awakening, it feels important that we bring the dreams of our hearts into reality by focusing our intentions on what will most empower us, what gives us passion and brings delight and meaning into our lives. Is it a risk? Always, but to me it is more of a risk to not follow the intelligence of my heart and the desires of my Soul.

Divine Presence,

Thank you for the inspiration from my Soul coming in the form of the potent desires of my heart. May I have the discernment to know when a desire is important to focus on and in alignment with my Soul’s highest reality.

May I have the Faith to follow through when I am being inspired by my Highest Self and focus my attention on the desire that seems to not go away. May I have the Fortitude necessary to persevere in respecting the deepest dreams of my heart.

May I remember to give thanks in advance for the Creative Solutions arising that allow me to accomplish my dreams in beautiful ways. And may I learn to receive in a whole new way that allows me to be a clear channel for the Benevolent Outcomes available to me from the Divine Source. Thank you God, and so it is.

You would not have the desire without the means to fulfill it.

Dear One,

All things in life are a part of the Universal Consciousness. This includes the desires of your heart. You have within you all that it takes to fulfill these desires and create the life you want to have. Know that each time you feel a deep longing, the seed of fulfillment is inherent within it.

There is a deep re-awakening within you, showing you a potential for all that you desire. This re-awakening results from your connection to God and the remembrance of the Angels who are guiding you always. As you commune more and more with this energy, your life will begin to take on the magical qualities you desire.

It begins with letting go. When you know in your heart that all your needs will be abundantly met, you can release the part of you that wants acquisition. You will now be free to discover the true desires in your heart. True desires have qualities that are fulfilled when the desires have been manifested. If the desire is for money, there is a quality that your heart seeks to have fulfilled — a sense of safety, an abundant lifestyle, or perhaps, simply freedom from worry.

Becoming aware of these qualities allows you to take action to gain these first, which will then allow the material form to manifest in a form which is in your highest good. The first step after discovering the qualities you seek, is always to ask for what you want, making sure you clearly state the qualities you are seeking to have. The Angelic Dimensions stand ready to assist you in the process of gaining all you desire in your life. Clarity is key.

Practice:

It is truly God’s Plan to have all beings live in a state of abundant joy and freedom from fears: people living with peace, harmony and love in the world as well as within their families.  These qualities are not too much to ask for in your prayers because they are the natural state of balance in God’s world.  Your prayers you offer in order to attain them opens your mind and heart to fulfillment in your personal life.

It is also vital to be in the company of like-minded souls who believe that miracles are not only possible, they are also willing to have them manifest in their own lives. It is clear that in some situations in the world, only a miracle of divine proportions can create a solution. With enough people believing miracles are possible, there is no doubt that creative solutions, which are beyond the mind’s ability to understand at this time, will occur.

Begin now to allow miracles to manifest in your world. Be the first one to ask for Divine Intervention, and to share your belief with others, so that all may live in a new level of conscious awareness and abundant joy.

Those desires in your heart are there to remind you that miracles happen, and God provides you the ways to have all the good you desire in your life. Know that you are blessed and profoundly loved.

Call on the Divine Presence and the Angels, then allow the desires of your heart to be fulfilled. Remember,

Dear friends,

I am the voice of Mother Earth. I welcome you all from my heart. Feel my living presence in your midst; I am here with you all. I am literally present in the cells of your body. I flow in each tiny cell: in your blood, your organs, your limbs – I am in everything. I share my consciousness with yours and share this life with you.

Open yourself to me and experience my healing power – and take your time doing it. Allow my power to flow from the ground beneath your feet up through your being. Imagine the splashing sound of a stream and let that pure water flow through you that brings refreshment and renewal to your being.

Feel my energy flow up through your feet, your ankles, and your lower legs. Know yourself to be sustained by me; know that I care for you. I know the rhythms and the pace of nature, and I live by those natural rhythms and not by those created by humans according to clock-time. I feel the time and the rhythms that are born from within.

Before I want to say something about this new era, and the arrival of the new Earth, I ask that you first receive my love. That you allow me to go deeper and deeper within you with each breath. That you let my energy flow through your legs up to your waist, so you feel that you may rest and let go. That you may relax deeply like a child who is not yet fully living according to clock time and the standards of society. In the beginning of his or her life, a baby is more a child of the Earth; it moves with natural moods and emotions, with the rhythms of day and night, of play and rest.

Allow my energy to flow into your heart, then fill your chest, your shoulders and arms with that gentle energy of naturalness, of rhythm and relaxation. And then let that energy flow up into that poor head of yours – so full and overloaded. You think so much, and thinking puts pressure on you as a natural being, as an organism that is connected to the Earth. Feel how your thoughts are like electric currents in your head, how that constant mental churning constricts your awareness, in the sense that it consumes so much of your consciousness. Thinking, worrying, reasoning; wanting to think about the future; the planning, providing, controlling. Those currents in your head are often powered by fear: a sense of threat that tells you that things will go wrong if you are not continually making an effort to control everything.

Now, imagine my energy, the gentle energy of Mother Earth, the natural rhythms of the land, of the animals and the plants. Envision how this energy arises to the top of your head, your crown, and brings rest there. Let the excess thoughts drain away from you and realize you are not the part of you that often identifies with excessive thinking. If you want to know who you really are, then with your attention and awareness go – literally – to your heart and feel the space there. There lives in your heart a desire for more ease, more fluidity, more surrender. But at the same time, you have become stuck in the clutches of fear that is the engine behind the many thoughts in your head.

So there are two streams in you: the grinding thoughts created by fear of what is going to happen in the future, by fear of those around you and of unknown danger; and at the same time, there is that wonderful flow from your heart and a desire to be in the now and to surrender to life. Be here now, with your awareness, and feel the silence.

Your heart is ready for the new. There is a deep desire in your whole being to take the next step, to let go of the fear that tyrannizes you. This is the call of the new Earth. It is my call, because I also feel that desire. I also would like to be more in peace and harmony. I myself am in the process of developing fully, which means I also learn and grow from all I experience through the life on me: the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms, and humanity. I live and learn through you and I feel a pressure, a movement toward a greater and more all-inclusive consciousness – it is unstoppable.

I am about to change and I feel that you want to come with me, because the time has come for change. There has been a lot of pain, a lot of suffering on Earth; a deep struggle by humanity, especially with itself. Fear and self-judgement have deeply affected you inwardly. It is as if you no longer know how to live; the naturalness is gone. You have to search very deep inside yourself to find your most spontaneous impulses, your deepest inspiration, because you have learned to live on the periphery, the outer edges of who you are.

That is something truly sad, and I observe that as the greatest pain in people: they have learned to ignore their unique, unlearned impulses. They are no longer true to that which lives deep inside them, in their original being, which has a unique shine for everyone, because everyone is different.

It belongs to my inner mission to combine many life forms on this planet in a harmonious way. My highest ideal is that each being, in its own way, can let its light shine, and then that all these unique light forms be bundled into a beautiful whole, a gem of many colors. The promise of the new Earth is that each one rises to their own potential and that everyone is exactly right, precisely in their own way. This is the necessary step in order to make the whole more complete.

It is my deepest inspiration to give form to that promise, which is why I am calling on you to

believe in who you are, to go back to your own center. You desire this from your heart and want nothing more than that. However, there are also voices of the old, of the fear that makes you resist. Voices that tell you it should not be this way, that it is not the intention; that you have to fit in, have to adjust; that you should not be different.

Feel that voice of fear for a moment, the energy that wants to hold you back and keep you away from your radiant self. Do not analyze that impulse from your head, but feel it from the quiet space in your heart. Do not try to analyze where that voice is coming from, but feel for a moment from inside the tone of that energy and what that does to you. Fear is often the origin of many emotions, such as the need for control or power, to struggle, to be unhappy or tense so you can never really relax. Fear is almost always the root-emotion of every other emotion. Try to look at it with gentleness as a flow that exists and has determined this Earth with all its life forms.

Look at the fear and you might see a color around it, or feel a vibration that emanates from that flow of fear. By consciously observing it, you detach from it, you rise above it. You can even feel the fear itself in your body as the fear takes hold of you, in your muscles, in your heart, in your stomach or your belly. However, when you consciously observe it, something transforms it. You say: “I see you, fear, but I don’t go along with you.” Fear can only become  permanent if it is fed, for example, by your thoughts.

When you look at fear with an open heart, without wanting to intervene, you no longer feed your fear. It will still well up as an old habit that does not die immediately; the fear is still present, over and over again. However, when you recognize this energy and do not go along with it, it gradually recedes and possesses you less and less. This is the real work that faces you, the discipline that is demanded of you. Not the discipline of hard work or adapting, but  of a keen awareness, a staying alert when the fear strikes, a becoming bigger than the fear, a drawing nearer to your heart instead of to your head. Come back again to the silence of your heart.

I ask you to now connect with your inspiration, your inner light, the uniqueness inside you that you came to bring to Earth, because you know it will give you joy if you express it in this earthly world. Feel the power of that light to surround you, the light that comes straight from your soul. While the Earth energy, the healing power of the Earth comes from below, upward, you now experience a flow from the Heavens, from above, downward. That is your soul’s light. But if you feel nothing, simply stay in the silence; it does not matter if you do not feel it clearly.

Being present in your heart in an open way is the main key: then there will be change. The soul comes to you and can make itself known in many ways. In some persons that will be through meditation, while for others when practicing an art form or doing something they enjoy. The flow comes to you because it belongs to you; you do not have to create it. It is already there and dances around you.

Now imagine that the flow comes to you and you receive it in whatever form presents itself. If you like to visualize, you can imagine that your inner child comes to you, this time beaming and holding out a beautiful gift that symbolizes your inner light. Let the streams of Heaven and Earth mingle within you. Your soul is cordially invited to be here, to move in all the cells of your body so that there is a dance between the consciousness of me, the Earth, and that of yours, your soul.

When your consciousness flows through into the physical world, it touches everything: the people around you, as well as the living beings who cannot talk and communicate on a conscious level, but still feel everything. When your soul’s light is streaming through you, you bring an angel vibration here and you bless the life around you.

As a human being, you have a  precious awareness within you. More than any other creatures on Earth, you have a free will, a free consciousness that can choose. It is the power of that consciousness – when it is in balance – that touches all living creatures on Earth, inspires them and triggers an acceleration of their growth. Know that not only are you in need of me, but that I also am in need of you, that your consciousness inspires me. It is through our cooperation that the new Earth is born. I invite and welcome you; I create joy in us.

Aloha Light Family,

Awakening from the old illusory realities brings FREEdom for all EMBRACING this. Fully CHOOSING to live from Pure Peace, Love and Harmony from inside, fully CHOOSING to let go of all that no longer supports, CHOOSING TO LISTEN and HONOR AS YOUR HIGHEST ASPECT OF YOU…. choosing UNITY over that which separates or maintains “Division” in your own lives….. and RETURNING to FULL CONSCIOUSNESS, where LIVING kindness, consideration, respect and sharing, supporting, inspiring and assisting all truly ready to transition over to our NEW EARTH EXISTENCE…. is beyond important for each fulfilling our Soul Purpose/Roles and Missions here.

REMEMBERING is a STATE of Consciousness, a STATE of Presence and changes our ENERGY COMPLETELY…. REMEMBERING SHIFTS US to full gratitude for all and out of all of those matrix programs that we once held before…. (which is a physical density ratio thing, not a weight, rather how much “space and Light” we hold inside….. Understanding how physical density works becomes an important part of this process as well…. as it’s important for how our Physical LightBodies work, our Crystalline LightBodies/Structures work and how “Photonic and Plasma” our body is too, as well as how linear or Quantum…. and how our bodies function, which changes substantially (over years/our whole life up until this current now. Photonic DNA Evolution does not fall into any “boxes” or human perceptions, because it’s not any of “those”.  AS WE TRULY REMEMBER, with our whole BEing… we RETURN to an EXISTENCE that is Pure Love. This REMEBERING only comes through our wide open heart and mind and “clearing” (Transcending) all that was linear WITHIN US before. All of that unconscious programming, all of that resistance, all of that duality and separation… that’s what BOUND US TO A 3D EXISTENCE… yet as we all continue… NOT ANYMORE….  As all start to understand… really truly fully understand… that 3D is relative to our own conscious, you stop calling the “physical reality” 3D…. and start looking at it completely differently. You start to realize that physical matter doesn’t dictate, we do…. that whether we live from Pure Love, Deep Sacred Respect, Caring and Sharing and Unifying all…. or an inner battle that plays out in our external… is what dictates our physical reality/experience… and that each one of us – WE – WE are the ones that dictate “how” all goes….. and our CHOICES, our MINDSETS and where we FUNCTION FROM, the basis and foundation for all of our realities… are either a derivative of fear or love. The/Our human aspect, when unconscious, focuses on the ‘physical’…. we focus on THE ENERGY… EACH’S ACTions, each’s openness, each’s caring, each’s showing up/LIVING their part AS FULLY CONSCIOUS LIGHT BEINGS too.

WE SEE ALL…. as all is visible when we actually care enough to open up all of the way to truly see…. to open up fully to “drop” the stories that we all “used” to PRETEND to not have any power or responsibility in what we kept supporting/playing in before. I REMEMBER the very first time, once I “woke up” to start to BEcome my “first” Higher Self aspect here… the very FIRST TIME I STOOD IN MY POWER and said an emphatic “NO” to certain realities that were not kind, loving, respectful to “Me”, that I used to allow to occur…. THAT MOMENT… this PURE POWER RUSHED THROUGH ME and I GOT IT. This is “How” we break through all of that programming… and I busted out laughing hilariously while driving home and sooooooooo excited at my own NEW REALIZATION… at the POWER I NOW HELD… and from that (zero) Point forward…. I began aligning my own realities through PURE LOVE…. for myself, SO THAT I COULD assist others who were ready to DO THIS THEMSELVES TOO………  I REMEMBER how FREE I finally was, from the turmoil and confusion inside, from the utter and complete “lostness” that I had felt, because I kept giving my power away in a multitude of ways, that I could not previously understand… because I was still “living” that “lack of love and power and self-respect” within myself… and I kept allowing everything to occur, because of my “programming” and deeply embedded beliefs that were ready to be cleared from my own body and physical reality, as my LightBody DNA activated HUGE…. all of a “sudden”, I had “new purpose” and it was to LIVE MY NEW FULLY… and EMBRACE that which made no logical sense to anyone else, because transitioning over from a “sleeping human” to a Multi-Dimensional Light BEing living from an Ascended State of Consciousness is not a linear/logical process. It’s non-linear, vibrational and Quantum….

REMEMBERING comes through our own DEEP inner-connection and FEELING that connection and REALIZING that THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THERE IS…. and that our “path” and “journey” to NEW EARTH is the “opposite” of everything we once “thought” we knew or believed…. NEW EARTH BECOMES VISIBLE and our own REALitiy as we LIVE it…. fully… in every way and we transition over from our old earth beliefs…. and we REALIZE the IMPORTANCE of all…. and we actually take a “pro-active” stance…. which still won’t look anything like we thought ….  Ridiculous amounts of sleep for our bodies to complete continual PHOTONIC DNA re-writes and clear out dense programming/timelines/beliefs housed in our bodies and playing out in our fields/external …. Ridiculous amounts of RELEASING, clearing and detoxing our whole life/body/us…. Ridiculous amounts of laying around, crazy sleep/waking cycles, sporadic food craziness… Ridiculous amounts of living from an “invisible reality” that only becomes visible as our HIGHER HEARTS AND MINDS open fully…. Ridiculous amounts of “saying NO” to that which still represents the “old” (duality realities)…. and investing ourselves/all that we are/have into a REALITY that’s already occurred, yet only visible through our deep inner connection that WE hold inside of ourselves … and to those who SHARE THIS NEW WAY TOO… and can see through their Universal/Cosmic/Divine SOUL/Source Presence/Access as well…. to the rest, we are “weird and crazy”…. until they go through it, then we are not so weird and crazy, everything else is………. In the beginning, and various phases along the way, opening up fully is not “easy”, because it “goes against” everything we once learned, were told, believed… yet this too is a necessary and important part of the process, as it breaks down those linear constructs and programs that we hold/held in our own bodies (as reality) before… so that ALL OF US CAN LIVE the most brilliant realities that emanate PURE LOVE with every breath….. Everything else, a program and “ours” to observe and decide…. how to align our own lives with our highest everything here. ♥  MAGIC, FREEDOM and UNITY — this is our REMEMBERED (and for the human aspect “New”) way. Yet it’s not “new”…. we just forgot… HUGE…. and now it’s time for all to REMEMBER and LIVE THIS FULLY TOO.

WHAT DOES A NEW EARTH  EXISTENCE OFFER? EVERYTHING….

What does an old version/old earth reality offer? You/we all… have to step back and look at the much bigger picture from inside and really see… really be ready and really comprehend…. THAT NEW EARTH IS THE ONLY REALITY, the rest is the old illusion and an unconscious “real”ity where each “tries” to hold in place, because their fear of “not conforming” FEELING so great. These are old programs too….  as NEW EARTH is not to fear, that was old earth…. NEW EARTH FREES each from this. ♥ NEW EARTH IS BIRTHED from within each …. the Light Encodements are held in ALL OF OUR DNA… our wide open hearts activate this, as does beauty, kindness and CHOOSING….. a whole new life… that’s available to each as their own ENERGY OPENS UP FULLY and IS READY to activate, explore, learn all new and RECEIVE.

The Hearth Goddess of Ireland

In Irish mythological cycles, Brighid (or Brighit), whose name is derived from the Celtic brig or “exalted one”, is the daughter of the Dagda, and therefore one of the Tuatha de Dannan. Her two sisters were also called Brighid, and were associated with healing and crafts. The three Brighids were typically treated as three aspects of a single deity, making her a classic Celtic triple goddess.

Patron and Protector
Brighid was the patron of poets and bards, as well as healers and magicians. She was especially honored when it came to matters of prophecy and divination. She was honored with a sacred flame maintained by a group of priestesses, and her sanctuary at Kildare, Ireland, later became the home of the Christian variant of Brighid, St. Brigid of Kildare. Kildare is also the location of one of several sacred wells in the Celtic regions, many of which are connected to Brighid. Even today, it’s not uncommon to see ribbons and other offerings tied to trees near a well as a petition to this healing goddess.

Lisa Lawrence writes in Pagan Imagery in the Early Lives of Brigit: A Transformation from Goddess to Saint?, part of the Harvard Celtic Studies Colloquium, that it is Brighid’s role as sacred to both Christianity and Paganism that makes her so hard to figure out. She cites fire as a common thread to both Brighid the saint and Brighid the goddess:

“When two religious systems interact, a shared symbol can provide a bridge from one religious idea to another. During a period of conversion, an archetypical symbol such as fire may acquire a new referent, while not being entirely emptied of a previous one. For example, the fire that clearly signifies the presence of the Holy Spirit in Saint Brigit may continue to signify pagan conceptions of religious power.”

Celebrating Brighid
There are a variety of ways to celebrate the many aspects of Brighid at Imbolc. If you’re part of a group practice or a coven, why not try honoring her with a group ceremoy? You can also incorporate prayers to Brighid into your rites and rituals for the season. Having trouble figuring out what direction you’re headed? Ask Brighid for assistance and guidance with a crossroads-themed divination rite.

Brighid’s Many Forms
In northern Britain, Brighid’s counterpart was Brigantia, a warlike figure of the Brigantes tribe near Yorkshire, England. She is similar to the Greek goddess Athena and the Roman Minerva. Later, as Christianity moved into the Celtic lands, St. Brigid was the daughter of a Pictish slave who was baptized by St. Patrick, and founded a community of nuns at Kildare.

In addition to her position as a goddess of magic, Brighid was known to watch over women in childbirth, and thus evolved into a goddess of hearth and home. Today, many Pagans honor her on February 2, which has become known as Imbolc or Candlemas.

Winter Cymres at the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids, calls her a “complex and contradictory” sort of deity. Specifically,

“She possesses an unusual status as a Sun Goddess Who hangs Her Cloak upon the rays of the Sun and whose dwelling-place radiates light as if on fire. Brigid took over the Cult of the Ewes formerly held by the Goddess Lassar, who also is a Sun Goddess and who made the transition, in the Isles, from Goddess to saint. In this way Brigid’s connection to Imbolc is completed, as the worship of Lassar diminished, only to be revived later in Christian sainthood.”

Brighid’s Mantle
One commonly found symbol of Brighid is her green mantle, or cloak. In Gaelic, the mantle is known as the brat Bhride. The legend has it that Brighid was the daughter of a Pictish chieftain who went to Ireland to learn from St. Patrick. In one story, the girl who later became St. Brighid went to the King of Leinster, and petitioned him for land so she could build an abbey. The King, who still held to the old Pagan practices of Ireland, told her he’d be happy to give her as much land as she could cover with her cloak. Naturally, her cloak grew and grew until it covered as much property as Brighid needed, and she got her abbey. Thanks to her roles as both a Pagan goddess and a Christian saint, Brighid is often seen as being of both worlds; a bridge between the old ways and the new.

In Celtic Pagan stories, Brighid’s mantle carries with it blessings and powers of healing. Many people believe that if you place a piece of cloth out upon your hearth at Imbolc, Brighid will bless it in the night. Use the same cloth as your mantle each year, and it will gain strength and power each time Brighid passes by. The mantle can be used to comfort and heal a sick person, and to provide protection for women in labor. A newborn baby can be wrapped in the mantle to help them sleep through the night without fussing.

To make a Brighid’s mantle of your own, find a piece of green cloth long enough to comfortably wrap around your shoulders. Leave it on your doorstep on the night of Imbolc, and Brighid will bless it for you. In the morning, wrap yourself in her healing energy. You can also make a Brighid’s cross or a Bride’s Bed to celebrate her this time of year.

Celtic Goddess Brigid and the Story of the Enduring Deity

Over the centuries, the stories of two women named Brigid (or Brigit or Bride or Brighid) have become intertwined in an intricate Celtic knot of myth and miracle. The Celtic Goddess Brigid and the Catholic Saint Brigid of Kildare both personified similar spiritual practices of their times in Ireland. Many scholars believe that the two are the same mythological person. The saint was necessary to mollify the native Irish population while not falling within the realm of worship of Pagan gods and goddesses. The transition from goddess to saint allowed Brigid to survive throughout the Christianizing world. At this time, the worship of a pantheon of gods – and any religious or spiritual belief system that existed outside of Christianity – was no longer acceptable in Europe.

Celtic Goddess Brigid
The Celtic goddess Brigid is one of the most venerated deities in the Pagan Irish pantheon. The name Brigid means exalted one, while her most ancient Gaelic name, Breo-Saighead, means fiery power or fiery arrow. As a solar goddess, she embodies the element of fire and is commonly depicted with rays of light or fire emanating from her head. Irish mythology relates that she was born at sunrise of Dagda, the earth god, and Boann, the goddess of fertility. They belonged to an ancient tribe of gods, called Tuatha Dé Danann (people of the Goddess Danu), who practiced magic. After they lost their mysterious islands in the west, they traveled to Ireland in the misty clouds and settled there.

When Brigid was born she had flames shooting out from her head, and through them, she was united with the cosmos. As a baby, Brigid drank the milk of a sacred cow that came from the spirit world.

Fiery Aspects
Worshippers sometimes call Brigid the “Triple Goddess” for her fires of the hearth, inspiration, and the forge. She is a powerful being and through her fires, she is the patroness of healing arts, fertility, poetry, music, prophecy, agriculture, and smithcraft. Many people also call her the Goddess of the Well, as she also has ties to the element of water. The well is sacred because it stems from the womb of the earth, and Brigid is also Mother Earth or the Mother Goddess. Her association with the sacred cow reflects the Celtic reliance on the animal for sustenance; milk was an important theme throughout the year, especially during the cold winter months when hardship threatened.

Worship of the Celtic goddess Brigid was widespread among Celts of Ireland, the highlands and islands of Scotland, and also of Western Europe. Amongst the warring clans, Brigid was a unifying theme and common bond. However, in the 5th century, the goddess faced an immense wave of religious change and pressures that swept through her devotees. She had to evolve, otherwise, her followers would have to banish her from their lives.

Saint Brigid of Kildare
As Christianity spread throughout the Celtic lands, many properties of the older religions were Christianized rather than eliminated. Brigid was an integral part of the lives of Celts, and the solution was to create a version of her that would fit into the Catholic religion. Hence, a new story emerged.

St. Brigid of Kildare was “born” around 450 AD to a Pagan family. Her family converted to Christianity with the help of St. Patrick, an equally important saint in Ireland. The Lord inspired Brigid as a young girl and her generosity and compassion reflected her unusual virtue. She gave everything away to the poor. So overly charitable was the young girl that her own father, Dubhthach, a chieftain of Leinster, wanted to give or sell her away because she had gifted the impoverished with many of his valued possessions.

St. Brigid’s Church of the Oak Tree
The king recognized her holiness and gave her a plot of land where she built a church under an oak tree. It was called Kill-dara (cill dara) meaning church of the oak tree (the area is now called Kildare). Seven girls soon followed her to Kill-dara and they started a convent at the tree.

This is one of the ways Brigid sanctified the Pagan with the Christian: The oak was sacred to the druids, and in the inner sanctuary of the Church was a perpetual flame, another religious symbol of the druid faith, as well as the Christian. Gerald of Wales (13th century) noted that the fire was perpetually maintained by 20 nuns of her community. This continued until 1220 when it was extinguished. Gerald noted that the fire was surrounded by a circle of bushes, which no man was allowed to enter.

Female worshippers tended to Brigid’s sacred fire for many hundreds of years. Other sources indicate that 19 maidens rotated over 19 days to keep the fire lit, and then on the 20th day, Goddess Brigid tended the fire herself.

The Legends of St. Brigid
According to the same story, St. Brigid of Kildare had many mystical powers, performed many miracles and healed innumerous sick people. Thus, the colorful tales about the goddess-saint quickly spread to other lands. Her popularity grew in Celtic devotions to the point where she became closely associated with the Virgin Mary and Jesus. In fact, other names for her was “Mary of the Gaels” and “Foster Mother of Jesus,” and myths placed her centuries earlier than her “known” 5th-century life. Those myths described her as the midwife attending Mary or as the wife or daughter of the innkeeper who had no room for Mary and Joseph.

The story of Saint Brigid tells us that she passed away in the year 523.

The Celebration of the Goddess and Saint
The hardest evidence of a mixture of the goddess and the saint is the date of February 1st. This is the Celtic festival day of Imbolc, which was an important event that included much worship of the goddess Brigid. That same date is when the annual Saint Brigid Feast Day takes place. The Irish still celebrate this day. As part of the festivities, they make Saint Brigid’s crosses (St. Brigid) of rushes or reeds (Goddess Brigid) and put them in houses for protection and luck (both). The cross, one of Brigid’s most important symbols, looks very much like the swastika motif, which ancient proto-Germanic people used as a symbol of life, fortune, and blessings.

Resurgence of Paganism
Hundreds of years passed since the Celtic goddess Brigid converted to sainthood. And yet, her worshippers had maintained many of her goddess qualities. Because Ireland was separate from mainland Europe, they were able to keep some their own culture and practices intact. Therefore, even the nature of their worship still had Pagan aspects.

Wells of Resistance
Pagan roots still exist today at many Irish wells that Christians had dedicated to St. Brigid. Those wells were originally connected with the Celtic goddess Brigid. As noted, she is also the Goddess of the Well, which is historically very sacred as the womb of Mother Earth from which flows life-giving waters. The most significant wells are those that exist near a large tree, as there is deep reverence and old mythology about world trees and wells. Even today, the wells have pre-Christian significance.

For example, worshippers mostly visit between dusk and dawn. This is the time of day when the Celts believed the veil between the worlds of the living and of spirits is thinnest. The Irish annual pilgrimage to many of Brigid’s wells falls on the first Sunday in August. This day is a pre-Christian Gaelic holiday called Lughnasadh, after the god Lugh. Lughnasadh is one of the four seasonal holidays of the ancient Celts, and celebrations abound in honor of Lugh and the fall harvest.

The Burning Flames That Endure
Brigid started as the Great Goddess, exalted and inseparable from the everyday activities of the Celts. Although the Church rewrote her story, they were never able to completely supplant the tenacious goddess. Each Brigid reflected the essential spiritual values of her era, whether Pagan or Christian. She still endures so strongly that it is now impossible to tell where the goddess ends and the saint begins.

In 1993 a group of female followers re-lit Brigid’s fire, and her spirit still burns fervently in hearts and minds, as she continues to move through time as the enduring Celtic Goddess of the flame.

New Moon February 2019 conjunct asteroid 29 Amphitrite may not add so much to the astrology but it sure is interesting given the close association between the Dolphin and Amphitrite in Greek mythology.

Amphitrite was a sea goddess and the queen of the sea. Once upon a time Poseidon saw her dancing in the waves and was so turned on he proposed to her. But she was shy and fled far away to preserve her virginity. So Poseidon sent his messenger the Dolphin to find her and persuade her to marry him, which he did, and they all lived happily ever after.

Lunar Superstitions

In some Native American legends, the moon is held captive by a hostile tribe. A pair of antelope hope to rescue the moon and take it the village of a good tribe, but Coyote, the trickster, interferes. The antelope chase Coyote, who tosses the moon into a river each night, just out of reach of the antelope.

The Sky This Week from January 29 to February 3

The waning crescent Moon stars in a series of conjunctions it this week’s predawn sky as it passes Jupiter, then Venus, and finally Saturn.

Tuesday, January 29
Near-Earth asteroid 433 Eros continues its close encounter with Earth this week. It glows at 9th magnitude, bright enough to see through small telescopes. The asteroid resides in eastern Taurus, and tonight it passes 5° southwest of 2nd-magnitude Beta (β) Tauri. This region lies high in the east after darkness falls and passes nearly overhead around 9 p.m. local time. Be sure to catch Eros this month — it won’t be as close or as bright again until 2056.

Mercury reaches superior conjunction at 10 p.m. EST. This means the innermost planet lies on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth and remains hidden in our star’s glare. It will return to view in the evening sky in mid-February.

Wednesday, January 30
With each passing day, the waning crescent Moon rises about an hour later and appears lower in the southeastern sky before dawn. That’s a good thing for fans of conjunctions, because it sets up a string of pretty encounters with the bright morning planets. Today, the 24-percent-lit Moon hangs 6° to Jupiter’s upper right, and the two will barely squeeze into a single field of view through binoculars. Of course, magnitude –1.9 Jupiter is a treat all week. It currently rises shortly before 4 a.m. local time and climbs 20° high an hour before the Sun comes up. If you point a telescope at the giant world, you’ll see a 34″-diameter disk that features at least two conspicuous cloud belts.

Thursday, January 31
The waning crescent Moon stands 2° to the right of brilliant Venus this morning. The Sun now illuminates just 16 percent of our satellite’s disk, so it appears a bit dimmer than it did yesterday. And Venus shines at magnitude –4.3, some 10 times brighter than Jupiter. The Moon and Venus make a dazzling pair with the naked eye or through binoculars from the time they rise until twilight is well underway. If you aim a telescope at Venus this morning, you’ll see a 19″-diameter disk that appears 62 percent lit.

Friday, February 1
A pair of fine binocular objects are on display during evenings this week. The open star clusters M46 and M47 reside about a degree apart in the northwestern corner of the constellation Puppis the Stern. The two lie about 12° east-northeast of the sky’s brightest star, Sirius. The western cluster, M47, glows at 4th magnitude and appears as a fuzzy patch sprinkled with several pinpoint stars. Sixth-magnitude M46 shows up as a hazy collection of faint stars that is hard to resolve under most conditions. Although it contains nearly twice as many stars as M47, M46 appears fainter and fuzzier because it lies some three times farther from Earth.

Saturday, February 2
Although Saturn passed on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth exactly one month ago, it already appears low in the southeast during morning twilight. From mid-northern latitudes, the ringed planet rises about 90 minutes before the Sun and climbs 10° above the horizon a half-hour before sunup. Saturn shines at magnitude 0.6 and should be fairly easy to pick out of the twilight. The waning crescent Moon makes the task even easier this morning. Its 5-percent-lit crescent appears 3° to the ringed planet’s lower left. Simply center the Moon through binoculars and look for the bright point of light near the field’s upper right edge.

For those who believe in folklore, the fate of winter rests on the shoulders of the groundhog. If the furry rodent sticks his head out of his burrow this morning and sees his shadow, we’ll have six more weeks of winter. But if the weather is cloudy, it means spring is right around the corner. What does this have to do with astronomy? Groundhog Day celebrates one of the four so-called cross-quarter days, which mark the midpoints between the solstices and equinoxes. February 2 falls approximately midway between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox.

Sunday, February 3
The variable star Algol in Perseus appears faintest at 11:55 p.m. EST, when it shines at magnitude 3.4. If you start watching it immediately after darkness falls, you can see it dim from its peak brightness (magnitude 2.1) to minimum and then start brightening again. This eclipsing binary star runs through a cycle from minimum to maximum and back every 2.87 days, but the drop from peak brightness and subsequent rise lasts only about 10 hours. Algol appears nearly overhead soon after darkness falls and descends toward the northwestern horizon well after midnight.

Cast the Fires

This is a way to utilize the fire element with your cauldron spells. It’s a general purpose blessing to bring some new energy into your home and your life.

Your cauldron
A few shredded bits of white paper
A dried sprig of rosemary
A small bit of dried fruit
1 drop of sandalwood oil
A match to light it (not a lighter!)
Combine everything in your cauldron (it is fire-proof, right?), adding the drop of oil last. Repeat the words,

By this cauldron, I do cast
Rising flames that will last
Power bring and power rise
Make magick in my eyes.

Light the paper and repeat the words again while it burns. Have an open window handy nearby as it will definitely give off some smoke. If you’re worried about smoke inside, you can do this outdoors as long as you’re still close to home.

A Quick Word before We Get Started…..

I wanted to drop you a quick apology for yesterday. We did not finish our daily posts because of a power outage. There was water on the power lines coming down the road. It was so cold that the water frozen and the lines and they broke. We have been up all night keeping both my home and the office warm and some heat in them, so the water would not freeze. The power finally came back on around 3 this morning so we aren’t running on a full tank this morning.

Give us a few moments and we will be ready to run with today’s posts. Again, I apologize for yesterday’s incomplete posts but Mother Nature had a hand in the that. Who are we to argue with Mother Nature? Anyway, see you in a bit. Till then….

I would imagine this is just the start of it. We are suppose to have temps below zero tomorrow and the wind chill is going to be lower. So as soon as they get it fixed, down it will go again. Fun living in the sticks!
