Let’s Talk Witch – Banishing

Wiccan
BANISHING

If you have ever said, “Oh, I wish I didn’t have ” (fill in the blank with whatever is appropriate: these extra ten pounds, this dreary depression, ten thousand dollars in debt), then what you need is a banishing spell. No, a banishing spell will not magickally get rid of the extra weight or the credit card debt you ran up-at least, not all by itself. What it will do is help you to start working on those things in a concrete fashion and set you on your path toward improving your life.

Banishing spells are best done during the dark or new moon, since that is a good time for decrease, rather than increase. And keep in mind that you can only use banishing magick to affect yourself-no trying to banish the noisy neighbors in 2B (although you could trying banishing ishing the annoyance you feel).

Banishing can be used for any issue where you feel you need help letting go of something. For instance, if you are having problems with your health, you can do an illness-banishing spell at the new moon, followed by a spell to increase health at the full moon. Two sides of the same coin, if you will. Here is an example of a spell I wrote for just that purpose:

Banish strife and banish pain
Bring balance to the world again
Pain and illness soon depart
Peace comes to the willing heart
With ease let go of ills and woes
Let health increase as this moon grows.

Remember that as with all other magick, you need to follow up with concrete actions in the real world. It is not enough to say “I am going to banish illness”-you then need to go out there and do whatever you can to back up the energy you put out into the universe through your magickal work. But sometimes when everyday actions on their own aren’t enough, a banishing spell can give you that extra magickal oomph to make your wishes come true.
