Opiconsivia, Festival of Ops
On this day in ancient Rome, the festival. of Opiconsivia was held in honors of Ops, the Goddess of abundance. She was associated with Saturn and the Greek Rhea. Her festival was overseen by the Vestal Virgins, who honored her as the bringer of help. It was the custom for all who attended her rituals to sit on the ground in order to absorb some of her qualities. Possibly, this festival was designed to give energy and fortitude to those who worked the harvest.
