Daily Magickal Applications for Sunday, June 12

The Latin term for Sunday, our first day of the week, is Dies Solis (“sun’s day”). In ancient Greek, it was called Hemera Heliou. In the Old English language, it was known as Sunnandaeg; in Middle English, Sonenday. All of these titles mean the same thing: the day of the sun.

What do you think of when you feel the sun shine down on you? What sorts of enchantments and energies do you think would be complementary to a day named after our closest star? Sunday brings those bright solar energies into your life and has the magickal correspondences of success, promotion, leadership, pride, light, generosity, warmth, fitness, and personal growth. Astrologically, the sun symbolizes the conscious self and rules the zodiac sign of Leo.

The charms and spells that would complement this magickal day of the sun are ones for personal achievements of any kind-such as if you are seeking fame and wealth, working for that much-deserved promotion at work, or being acknowledged for a job well done. Health issues, increasing personal power, or simply sticking to your diet and being proud of what you have accomplished all fall under the sun’s golden influence.

Keywords:

charming, social, diplomatic, easy-going, adaptable, artistic, graceful, clear thinking

the Shadow Side:

self-indulgent, dependent, indecisive, calculating, people-pleasing

Quality and Element:

Cardinal and Air

Famous People with Moon in Libra:

Alec Baldwin, Kate Winslet, Nicolas Cage, Geena Davis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Louis Armstrong, Walt Disney, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Springsteen, Sylvia Plath

Personality Profile:
Those with the Moon in Libra have a breezy elegance that makes them sought-after companions. Their aesthetic standards are high, and they can’t help but turn their homes into showplaces, since they have such an eye for decorative harmony. This often translates into a tranquil domestic life as well, since they also know how to create an atmosphere of peaceful balance.

There’s a light, airy quality to the Libra Moon nature that can be refreshing, especially in times when they’re forced to put their nimble diplomacy into action.

They know that there are two sides to every story, and they’re experts at finding a workable compromise. People often sense their innate fairness, and this leads them to win the trust of many.

It’s natural for the Libra Moon to share, whether in a business relationship or in romance. They are happiest when part of a twosome, but sometimes this leads to a stifling dependence. If faced with a separation of any kind, they could act as if they’re very existence is threatened. That’s because more than any other Moon sign, their emotional identity is shaped by their relationships with others.

The Libra Moon can claim to be a true “people person” because they often use the mirror of others to understand their own natures. But Libra is an air sign, and inhabiting the Moon, it often leads with the head, rather than the heart.

To hear them talk about a potential mate might sound like they’re interviewing for a job. But a focus on the lifestyle, appearance and manner of a person ranks high for someone looking for a pleasing overall package. They’re searching for someone they can glide with through life in glorious tandem while looking as polished and put-together as they are – in a word, perfection both inside and out.

Magical Days of the Week – Sunday

Magical Days of the Week – Sunday

Sunday is associated with the colors yellow and gold, which shouldn’t be surprising – it’s the day of the sun, right? Because of this planetary association, this is a day that’s also connected to solar deities like Helios and Ra. Interestingly, in some Celtic traditions, Brighid’s day is Sunday as well.

When it comes to crystal use, Sunday is related to quartz crystals and diamonds, as well as the yellowish hues of carnelian and amber. For herbs and plants in magical workings, use marigolds, sunflowers or cinnamon.

What kind of magic is best performed on Sunday? Well, it’s a day that generally has a number of associations – agriculture, beauty, hope, victory, self-expression and creativity are all connected to this particular day. Plant or harvest something new (not just material crops, but metaphysical ones as well), create something from nothing, and prepare to win at everything.

Sunday’s Witchery

Sunday’s Witchery

Those ambitious, successful spells and charms will be heightened by working on the day of the week that has the planetary influence of the sun. So light those sunny candles, wear some luminous colors, and break out the gold jewelry! Bake up some cinnamon rolls or low-fat cinnamon muffins for an enchanting family breakfast. Take an orange with you to eat at lunch today. Try using a little magickal aromatherapy and burn some cinnamon-scented incense to encourage success and wealth today. Make the talisman to keep your solar magick with you. Sprinkle some dried marigold petals around your house-or across the threshold-to pull triumph and protection toward you and your family.

Get outside and tip up your face to the sun. Take a walk outside, and soak up some sunshine! Acknowledge the power of Sunna or Helios as they blaze across the sky and bring courage and motivation into your life. Sit outside at sunrise on a Sunday morning and bask in its warm, rosy-golden glow Acknowledge Brigid as the inner, creative spark of imagination and inspiration. She can help these gifts burn brightly within your own soul. Use your imagination and create your own brand of witchery and magick. Here comes the sun, and it’s your turn to shine!

Sunday

Sunday

Ruler: Sun

Colors: Gold or yellow

Power Hours: Sunrise and sunset.

Key Words: Love, happiness, health, wealth

It is easy to spot the ruler of this day by its name. Sunday is the day of the sun. Community work, volunteer services, exercise, outdoor sports, buying, selling, speculating, meeting people, anything involving groups, running fairs and raffles, growing crops and taking care of all health matters fall under the influence of the Sun. With all this activity and the brightness of the sun, it’s easy to see why the child that is born on the Sabbath day is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

Michael is the primary angel of Sunday but each hour of this day also has it’s secondary angel. These angels are Michael (first hour), Anael (second hour), Raphael (third hour), Gabril (fourth hour), Cassiel (fifth hour), Sachiel (sixth hour), Samael (seventh hour), Michael (eighth hour), Anael (ninth hour), Raphael (tenth hour), Gabriel (eleventh hour), and Cassiel twelfth hour). Notice some of the angels do double duty this day.

On Sundays, (unless you are invoking a specific angelic energy) the hour of sunrise will be the most powerful time to work, especially if you want to infuse energy into your work. Sunset is the second best time and is favored when you need to calm down a situation. Check the local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine your local sunrise.

Sunday, June 12

Traditionally, Sunday is the first day of the week. It is also known as the Lord’s Day from it original association with the Lord, that is, the Sun God, personified as Helios, Apollo, Ogmios, Mithras, and St. Elia. But in the Northern Tradition, the sun is seen as feminine, personified as the goddess known as Phoebe in East Anglia and Saule in eastern Europe. The sun rules the conscious element of the human being, the ego, the real self, and Sunday is the day on which this conscious power is at its most effective.

The Sky This Week for June 12 to June 19

dove-white-rose

The Sky This Week for June 12 to June 19

A virtual who’s-who of our planetary neighbors will be out in the sky this week for you to find

Sunday, June 12

• Mars remains near its peak all this week. The Red Planet reached opposition on May 22 and made its closest approach to Earth (at a distance of 46.8 million miles [75.3 million kilometers]) on the 30th. Mars appears in the southeastern sky as darkness falls and grows more prominent as the evening wears on and it climbs higher. By 11 p.m. local daylight time, it stands one-third of the way to the zenith in the south against the backdrop of southern Libra. The world shines at magnitude –1.8, just a hair dimmer than the brightest point of light in the sky, Jupiter. When viewed through a telescope, Mars’ orange-red disk spans 18″. Look for subtle dark markings along with a whitish north polar cap.

• For people who live near 35° north latitude, today marks the earliest sunrise of the year. Although the Northern Hemisphere’s longest day doesn’t occur until Earth’s summer solstice on June 20, earliest sunrise happens several days before and latest sunset several days after. The specific dates depend on your latitude, however. In general, earliest sunrise occurs closer to the solstice the farther north you live.

Monday, June 13

• Brilliant Jupiter appears high in the southwest as darkness falls and remains on display until 1 a.m. local daylight time. The giant planet shines at magnitude –2.0 — 0.2 magnitude brighter than Mars blazing in the southeast — against the backdrop of southern Leo the Lion. Jupiter appears equally dazzling through a telescope, which reveals a wealth of atmospheric features on a disk that spans 36″. Although such detail appears on every clear evening, a rare treat awaits observers tonight when two moons disappear within minutes of each other. Early this evening, Io and Ganymede both lurk near Jupiter’s western limb. Ganymede passes behind the limb at 12:35 a.m. EDT with Io following 10 minutes later.

Tuesday, June 14

• Neptune’s eastward motion against the background stars comes to a halt at 4 a.m. EDT. This so-called stationary point marks the beginning of the best period to observe an outer planet. Neptune rises around 1 a.m. local daylight time and appears nearly 30° high in the southeast as morning twilight commences. The magnitude 7.9 planet lies in Aquarius, some 0.5° southeast of 4th-magnitude Lambda (l) Aquarii, and doesn’t move noticeably all week. You’ll need binoculars to spy Neptune and a telescope to see its blue-gray disk, which spans 2.3″.

Wednesday, June 15

• Mercury shines brightly in morning twilight this week, standing 6° high in the east-northeast a half-hour before sunrise today. The inner planet shines at magnitude –0.3 and shows up easily through binoculars if you have an unobstructed horizon. When viewed through a telescope, Mercury appears 7″ across and slightly more than half-lit.

• The Moon reaches apogee, the farthest point in its orbit around Earth, at 8:00 a.m. EDT. It then lies 251,670 miles (405,024 kilometers) from Earth’s center.

Thursday, June 16

• The conspicuous Summer Triangle asterism dominates the eastern sky in late evening. Vega, the triangle’s brightest member, shines at magnitude 0.0 and stands highest of the three stars. To its lower left lies Deneb; at magnitude 1.3, it’s the faintest of the trio. Magnitude 0.8 Altair completes the bright asterism. Despite its name, the Summer Triangle appears prominent from late spring until the onset of winter.

Friday, June 17

• The waxing gibbous Moon forms the apex of a flat isosceles triangle with Mars and Saturn tonight. The Moon stands highest and about 10° from both planets; Mars and Saturn lie approximately 18° apart.

Saturday, June 18

• The Moon passes 3° due north of Saturn at 8 p.m. EDT. For observers in North America, the two appear between 3° and 5° apart throughout the night.

Sunday, June 19

• Full Moon officially arrives at 7:02 a.m. EDT tomorrow morning, but it looks completely illuminated throughout the night. It appears low in the southeast as the Sun sets and reaches its peak in the south around 1 a.m. local daylight time. For North American observers, the Full Moon crosses from Ophiuchus the Serpent-bearer into Sagittarius the Archer during the evening hours.

The Journey

dove-white-rose

No journey is complete without return.
All trips are round-trips:
we always come back
to where we started.
Though it may be true
that you can never go home again
because every adventure
changes you, changes home,
nonetheless, we come from dust
we return to dust;
we rise from ashes
and fall to ashes again.
Like a phoenix, every birth is death
and every death is birth.

May The Goddess Shine Her Love & Comfort Down On All Of This Sunday Morn’!

Sympathy Comments

It is a very difficult day to get started.

Fifty people killed in Florida and the count will probably rise.

It makes you wonder what is wrong with our society,

Are we doing enough to prevent such tragedies or is it out of our hands.

I believe everything happens for a reason but when so many lives

have been taken what reason could there be for that.

Heartache, sorrow and the loss of precious loved ones.

There is no reason, just a madman got a gun and took

it upon his self to play God.

The end result the worst mass shooting in the history of

our great country.

I ask that you light a candle today and say a prayer for the

family and friends who lost their loved ones in this horrible event.

Ask the Goddess to grant them peace and comfort.

As hard it is to accept their loss,

let them be reassured their loved ones have moved

on to a much better place.

Ask the Goddess to remind them of her promise to us all,

one day we will all be reunited in the Summerlands.

Goddess, please the people of Florida

and our entire country as we now grief.

So Mote It Be.

EARTH – Its colour is Yellow (Direction East)

EARTH – Its colour is Yellow (Direction East)

The  element  of  earth  is  the  densest  and  the  most  accessible  of  all  the  elements   because  earth  is  the  foundations  and  building  blocks  of  life;  it  is  energy  in  its  solid   form.  The  carbons,  which  build  our  organs  and  skin  are  made  from  this  dense   element  giving  us  the  understanding  of  the  material  world  around  us  and   allowing  us  to  feel  objects  and  textures.  Earth  is  also  the  element  which  allows  us   to  understand  the  spiritual  teachings  physically,  it  gives  us  the  opportunity  to   experience  life  directly  and  brings  about  the  full  understanding  of  our  incarnated   selves.

This  is  the  most  practical  of  all  the  elements  as  it  transforms  the  world  of   energy  into  direct  experience,  allowing  us  to  realize  our  dreams  and  fulfill  our   potential  here  upon  the  globe.  The  very  planet  we  live  on  is  even  referred  to  as   Mother  Earth,  showing  us  that  this  is  a  powerful  element that sustains all life and give the foundational support all life needs to grow.

The  direction  we  turn  to  acknowledge  earth  is  East,  it  is  here  where  we   come  to  integrate  the  other  elements  and  teachings  into  our  lives  and  gain  insight   and  wisdom  within  ourselves.  This  is  the  direction  of  the  Witch,  the  Sorcerer,  and   the  Magician  the  direction  where  the  first  shafts  of  light  penetrate  the  day.  These   are  people  who  have  transformed  themselves  through  working  with  these  subtle   energies  and  have  come  to  the  full  understanding  of  the  outer  and  inner  worlds  of   existence.  Through  integration  and  understanding  of  all  the  elements  you  return   to  your  true  nature,  Integrating  and  balancing  all  the  elements  within  yourself  and   merging  with  the  ocean,  which  is  the  clear  essence  of  being.

The  Earth  element  resides  in  the  Stomach  and  from  time  to  time  when  you   are  feeling  a  bit  unwell  it’s  a  good  idea  to  visualize  pure  yellow  light  being   breathed  into  your  body  and  circulating  around  the  stomach  area.  This  way  the   elemental  qualities  will wash into your internal organs helping them to support their natural processes.

WATER – Its colour is Blue (Direction South)

WATER – Its colour is Blue (Direction South)

Water  is  the  element  of  the  South  and  through  meeting  water  we  meet  the  great   nurturer  that  it  is  our  mother.  For  nine  months  we  swam  in  the  seas  of  our   mother’s  womb,  being  protected  we  grew  within  this  vital  life  fluid.  Water  is  the   creator  of  our  emotions  enabling  us  to  experience  the  world  as  sensations  and   feelings.

Water  teaches  us  to  watch  the  world  with  non-‐attachment;  by  just  letting   thoughts  drift  by  allows  us  to  come  to  the  understanding  of  the  nature  of  the   world.  Our  mind  is  the  vast  ocean  and  our  thoughts  are  what  swim  within  it.  If  we   remember  to  focus  on  the  ocean  and  just  watch  our  thoughts  without  creating  any   attachment  to  them  we  become  fluid  and  free.  This  is  the  element  that  reminds  us   we  are  made  up  from  water;  our  entire  bodies  are  fluid  and  moving  just  like  our   thoughts  and  the  sensations  within  us.  When  we  work  with  these  qualities we come to the understanding that we need to be fluid and flowing within the mind.

When  we  free  the  mind  from  the  constraints  of  thought  we  learn  that  we  become   clear.  By  having  no  attachment  to  our  thoughts  allows  us  to  experience  the  clear   mind  the  Witches  talk  about.

It  is  only  by  surrendering  to  the  depths  of  the  vast  ocean  that  we  come  to   experience  life,  allowing  us  to  be  reborn  once  again  within  a  second  birth,  this   time  not  from  our  maternal  mothers,  but  from  the  eternal  mother.

The  water  element  resides  in  the  kidney  organs  and  from  time  to  time   these  can  become  weakened  with  our  excessive  lifestyles,  when  you  feel  a   weakness  in  this  area  of  your  body  imagine  breathing  in  pure  blue  light  into  your   kidney  organs.  Let  it  wash  into  them  restoring  them with refeshing waters, restoring and healing you from deep within.

FIRE – Its colour is Red (Direction West)

FIRE – Its colour is Red (Direction West)

Fire  is  the  energy  that  creates  life  and  it  is  also  the  power  behind  conception  and   birth.  Fire  needs  air  to  sustain  its  existence  because  without  it,  it  withers  and  dies.   Fire  is  what  gives  us  the  potential  for  action  in  the  world;  it  forms  momentum  that   allows  us  to  grow  and  reach  adulthood  and  become  complete  in  our  life’s  purpose.   When  we  talk  of  people  burning  with  passion,  this  is  the  fire  we  talk  about,  an   energy  that  fuels  their  ability  to  achieve  their  dreams.  This  potent  element  allows   us  to  be  inspired  and  to  move  from  the  point  of  birth  growing  fully  into  our  lives.   It  brings  momentum  and  without  its  transformative  qualities  all  would  be  static. Fire  is  the  powerful  energy  store  within  us  that  allows  us  to  reach  transcendence   and  move  into  pure  consciousness  to  fully  understand  the  Gods.

Fire  is  in  the  West,  the  direction  of  the  setting  sun,  when  we  turn  to  the   direction  of  the  West  we  offer  our  prayers  for  the  gift  of  life.  We  light  candles  and burn bonfires to this element and we feel its power as it transforms everything with  its  touch.  Nothing  can  ever  stay  the  same  with  the  element  of  :ire,  our  lives   are  a  process  from  birth  to  death;  we  burn  throughout  our  existence  consuming   the  air  we  need  to  keep  living.  At  the  end  of  our  lives  when  the  fire  has  dwindled   we  finally  take  our  last  breath  and  devoid  of  fuel  we  transform  and  dissolve  into   the  next  form  of  existence.

The  fire  element  resides  in  your  liver  organ  and  from  time  to  time  when   we  get  a  bit  cranky  this  organ  feels  sluggish.  This  happens  when  we  eat  the  wrong   type  of  foods  and  when  we  get  stressed,  to  calm  yourself  and  strengthen  this   element  when  it  feels  weak  imagine  breathing  in  the  fire  element  as  red  pure  light   and  let  it  infuse  your  liver organ cleansing it with healing and refreshing light that restores and heals.
